After the events of NWHS Dipper feels betrayed. His world is crumbling all around him in more ways than one, he's lost faith in his family, he's given up and wants nothing to do with Stan, the Author, or the Journals or anyone. But when Mabel's life is on the line, his best chance at saving her and maybe even the world is to trust the last person he ever wants to speak to again.

The twins parents send them to their Grunkle Stan's for their Freshman year because of troubles at home. When strange things start happening, the Mystery Twins are at it again to help solve just who or what is causing the disturbing occurrences around town. Dipper can handle Freshman year and the things that go bump in the night, but can he handle Pacifica as his chemistry partner?

Since Stanley Pines death, life for the Pines family hasn't gotten any easier. Dipper doesn't monster hunt anymore, Mabel knits only singled colored sweaters and doesn't smile, and Stanford barely leaves his room.
