Here's Chapter 4 everyone, I've gotten multiple reviews from artists asking me if they would like to commission this story into comic format and while that's cool, I want to stress this, I DON'T HAVE MONEY, if you want to still do it, then do so. You have permission to do so.

hilternico: I'll try, but I won't make any promises.

Super Squashman: Thanks!

legitperson: Don't worry I'll try!

The arena felt like it was buzzing with anticipation. The tension between Naruto and Neji was palpable, even before either of them threw the first punch. Neji stood calm and composed, her cold, calculating eyes watching Naruto closely. Every muscle in her body was ready, coiled like a spring waiting to strike.

"You're not going to beat me, Neji!" Naruto shouted with determination, his voice echoing around the stadium. His fists clenched, and his blue eyes burned with the desire to prove something, both to Neji and himself.

Neji remained silent, her expression stoic. She saw through Naruto's bravado, convinced that no matter how hard he fought, destiny had already chosen her as the victor. Yet, a small flicker of doubt stirred in the depths of her mind, one she quickly tried to suppress. It doesn't matter, she told herself. Fate is fate.

The proctor signaled the start, and in an instant, Neji was upon Naruto with the swiftness and precision of the Hyuga clan's Gentle Fist technique. Naruto barely had time to dodge her first strike, and even though he narrowly escaped the blow, he could feel the brush of her chakra grazing his skin. Every hit she landed would cut off his chakra points. He had to be careful.

"You can talk big, but you don't understand how the world works," Neji said, her voice calm yet cutting. "You think sheer determination can change your fate? That belief is naive."

Naruto gritted his teeth and launched into his usual flurry of attacks, but Neji deflected them effortlessly, her strikes precise and deadly. Each movement she made was deliberate, every block flawless.

Naruto's frustration grew with every missed hit. "I don't care about fate!" he shouted as he charged her again. "I'll change it, no matter what!"

Neji easily blocked his punch, then countered with a palm strike to his chest, sending Naruto skidding back across the arena floor. "You talk too much," she said, her voice cold and detached, "but you don't have the power to back it up."

Naruto stood, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. "I won't give up. I can't give up." His voice was hoarse but determined. He formed his trademark hand seals, summoning his Shadow Clones to swarm Neji from every direction. Neji easily dismantled the clones, one by one, her Byakugan seeing through all their movements.

But Naruto wasn't about to give in. He darted around, keeping Neji on her toes, making it difficult for her to get a clean hit. He knew he had to create an opening. The fight dragged on with Neji consistently gaining the upper hand, striking his chakra points and weakening him slowly.

As Naruto struggled to stand, panting, Neji spoke again. "You're done. Fate has decided."

"No..." Naruto's voice was strained, but he looked up, fire in his eyes. "I'm not done yet!" With a sudden burst of energy and chakra from another source, he created more clones, sending them towards Neji in a last-ditch effort. Neji moved to destroy them as she had before, but something was different this time.

One of the clones created a crater in the ground just before vanishing, and Neji paused for a split second, confused. That moment of hesitation was all Naruto needed. The real Naruto erupted from the ground beneath her, delivering a powerful uppercut that sent Neji flying back, her body crashing against the arena wall.

For the first time, she felt real pain.

She collapsed to the ground, her vision blurring. 'How...?' she thought, her mind racing as she struggled to understand how Naruto had outsmarted her. Her body refused to move, and for the first time, doubt fully consumed her.

The last thing she saw before losing consciousness was Naruto standing tall, his silhouette blurry in the midday sun.

...

Neji woke in the infirmary, her body aching. The white walls around her were unfamiliar, sterile, devoid of comfort. As she blinked to clear her vision, she realized she was not alone.

Hiashi Hyuga stood by the window, his hands clasped behind his back. The usual sternness in his posture was softened, though his face was unreadable.

"You're awake," Hiashi said without turning to her. "There's something you need to know."

Neji sat up slowly, her body protesting with each movement. Her gaze was locked on Hiashi, wary. "What is it?"

Hiashi finally turned to face her, his eyes heavy with an emotion Neji couldn't quite place. He stepped closer and handed her a small, aged letter. "This was written by your father, Hizashi, before he sacrificed himself for the clan."

Neji's breath caught in her throat. Her father's name had always been a source of pain, a symbol of her resentment towards the Main Family. She stared at the letter, her hands trembling as she took it.

Hiashi continued, "He chose to die not because of the curse mark or because he was forced to. He chose to die to protect the clan, to protect me, and to give you a future free of hatred."

Neji's heart pounded in her chest as she unfolded the letter. Her father's handwriting was neat but filled with emotion, and as she read his final words, the weight of her past began to lift, piece by piece.

Neji, it began, I hope that when you read this, you will understand that my death was my choice. I gave my life so that you could live, not as a slave to fate, but as someone who could carve her own path. Do not hate the clan or the Main Family. I have made peace with my role, and I want you to live with the freedom I never had. Remember, you are stronger than you know.

Tears welled in Neji's eyes as she read the final lines. The room was silent except for the soft rustle of the paper in her hands. She had spent years hating the Main Family, believing herself to be nothing more than a puppet of fate. But now, with this letter in her hands, it felt like the chains that had bound her heart were beginning to break.

She smiled through the tears, looking out the window. In the distance, two birds flew together, soaring freely in the open sky. For the first time, Neji felt that same freedom in her own heart. She was no longer bound by destiny.

...

The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm, orange glow over the village. Neji approached Naruto's house after asking his sensei, Kakashi Hatake where he lived, her steps slow and deliberate. She wasn't sure why she felt nervous; it wasn't like her to be uncertain. But as she approached his door, something strange stirred within her, something she wasn't ready to confront yet.

Naruto answered the door, surprised to see Neji standing there. "Neji?" he asked, scratching the back of his head. "What's up?"

She hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath. "I came to apologize," she said, her voice steady despite the turmoil inside her. "For everything I said, and for how I acted. You… you showed me that I was wrong."

Naruto blinked, clearly caught off guard. He wasn't used to Neji speaking so openly, let alone apologizing. "Uh… it's no big deal," he said with a grin. "I just wanted to prove you wrong about all that fate stuff."

Neji's gaze softened as she looked at him. "You did," she admitted quietly. She didn't know how to express the depth of her gratitude or the strange, unfamiliar feelings that had begun to surface inside her. Naruto had been the one to show her that her belief in destiny had been a cage. And yet, the way she looked at him now made her feel… uncertain.

Before she could stop herself, she stepped closer and placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder. It was a small gesture, almost awkward, but for Neji, it was a rare display of affection. "Thank you," she said, her voice softer now, almost tender.

Naruto, oblivious to the deeper meaning behind the gesture, just smiled at her. "No problem! We're friends now, right?"

Neji nodded, though inwardly, she felt a flicker of doubt. 'Friends…?' She didn't know what these new feelings meant, and she wasn't ready to understand them yet. For now, she pushed them aside.

...

That night, Neji lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling. Her mind was racing, filled with thoughts of the past, her father's sacrifice, and the future that now seemed open before her.

She had lived her life in the shadow of the Hyūga curse mark, believing that her fate was sealed from the moment she was born. But now, everything had changed. Naruto's victory over her wasn't just physical, it had shaken the very core of her beliefs. And her father's letter had shattered the final remnants of her resentment.

Neji's thoughts drifted to the future, to the path that lay before her. 'I'll change the clan', she thought with newfound determination. 'I will change the way things are done, not just for the Hyūga clan, but for the entire shinobi world.' The weight of her father's words and Naruto's actions had given her a new sense of purpose, one that went beyond her own personal freedom. She wanted to end the cycle of hatred, of predetermined roles, and create a future where everyone had the chance to define their own path.

As the moonlight filtered through the window, casting soft shadows across her room, Neji reflected on how much had changed in such a short time. She no longer saw herself as a victim of fate. The world wasn't as rigid as she once believed. If someone like Naruto, someone everyone had once dismissed as a failure could rise above his circumstances, then surely she could, too.

'Naruto.' Her thoughts kept returning to him. She had once viewed him as nothing more than a fool, a loudmouth with no understanding of the world. But now, after their battle, she saw something else in him, a kind of strength that went beyond physical power. His determination, his unyielding belief that anyone could change their destiny… it had shaken her to her core. And something deeper, more personal, had begun to stir within her. But Neji wasn't sure how to interpret it yet.

She let out a soft sigh, turning onto her side and staring at the wall. What is this feeling? She thought about how her hand had lingered on Naruto's shoulder earlier, how strange and warm it had felt. She wasn't used to showing affection, especially not to someone like him. The confusion was almost unsettling.

But she shook her head, deciding not to dwell on it for now. There would be time to explore those feelings later once she understood them better. For now, her mind was focused on something greater: the future of the Hyuga clan.

The clan… For so long, she had despised the Main Family, resented the curse mark that bound her to their will. She had dreamed of rebellion, of tearing down the system that kept her and others like her in chains. But now, with a clearer mind and heart, she realized that change had to come from a place of understanding, not violence.

She remembered the look on Hiashi's face when he had given her the letter from her father. It had been a moment of vulnerability, something she hadn't expected from him. Perhaps Hiashi, too, wanted to change things. Perhaps he had carried the weight of their clan's traditions for too long, and now, like her, he was ready to let go of the past.

"I'll start with the clan", she decided, her eyes growing heavy with exhaustion. I'll find a way to end the division between the Main and Branch families. I'll make sure no one else has to suffer the way I did.

As she closed her eyes, a peaceful smile spread across her face. For the first time in as long as she could remember, she felt a sense of calm, of true peace. The weight that had once crushed her spirit had been lifted, and though she knew the road ahead would be difficult, she no longer felt alone. She had her father's memory, her newfound beliefs, and even Naruto's strange, inspiring presence to guide her.

Tomorrow would be a new day, the first of many that she would face with renewed strength and purpose.

And with that, Neji Hyuga drifted off to sleep, her heart finally at ease.
