As Hinata, Neji, Shino, Kiba, and Asuma made their way back to Sakura's medic camp, the tension in the air was palpable. The sounds of battle echoed faintly in the distance, a reminder of the chaos that still reigned. Sakura looked up from her supplies as they approached, her brow furrowing with concern.
"What happened? Why are you all back?" she asked, her voice laced with urgency.
Hinata stepped forward, her expression serious. "We encountered Naruto and learned that he's fighting against the reanimated Akatsuki that Sasuke had sent out. Naruto told us that he didn't want to harm us and that the situation was too dangerous, and we had to fall back."
Kiba, still breathing heavily from the exertion, chimed in, "It's messed up that we're fighting against the Hidden Mist when we should be allies. What Sasuke is doing feels wrong. He should be uniting the nations, not pushing them further apart!"
Asuma nodded, crossing his arms. "Sasuke's actions are raising a lot of questions. We need to be careful about how we approach this. If we're not careful, we could end up escalating the conflict instead of resolving it."
Neji, always analytical, added, "It's possible that Sasuke believes he's acting for the greater good, but that doesn't justify his actions."
Sakura's brow furrowed with concern as she turned to Asuma. "But what are we going to tell Sasuke when he finds out you retreated instead of fighting? He'll think we're abandoning him."
Asuma scratched his head, contemplating the situation. "We can't tell him the whole truth. If he finds out we wanted to avoid conflict, he might see it as a betrayal. We'll just have to make up a story that the Hidden Mist forces were too strong and we had to fall back for strategic reasons."
Neji nodded in agreement. "It's a risk, but if it keeps him focused on the bigger picture, it might be worth it. We can't let him get swept up in this war mentality."
Hinata, always supportive, added, "We should use this time to rest and gather our strength. We don't know how long this battle will last, and we'll need to be ready for whatever comes next."
Asuma agreed, "We can't be effective if we're exhausted. Let's keep our communication lines open and wait for Sasuke to call us in. We'll be here if he needs us."
Sakura looked around at her friends, grateful for their support and understanding. "Exactly. We'll set up a watch and be ready to move when we get the signal. Until then, let's take a moment to regroup."
The team began to settle in, finding places to rest and catch their breath. As they took this brief respite, they shared stories and memories, trying to keep their spirits high in the face of uncertainty.
Samui and her team approached the upper borders between the Leaf and Cloud, the tension in the air palpable. As they neared the scene of the recent battle, she immediately noticed the Raikage on the ground, his face contorted in pain. His left arm was gruesomely severed, and Darui and C were doing their best to help him up.
"Raikage!" Samui called out, rushing forward with concern etched across her face. "What happened?"
Darui looked up at her, his expression serious. "Sasuke… he managed to defeat us. It was a tough fight, but we held our ground. We were lucky to escape with our lives."
Samui maintained her composure despite the urgency of the situation. "We need to get the Raikage some medical attention right away," she urged, glancing at Darui and C.
The Raikage, however, wasn't ready to be sidelined. "Before that, I need to know who's still standing in this war," he insisted, his voice a low growl of determination.
"Right now, Sasuke is engaged with the Hidden Mist forces," Samui replied, her expression serious. "I have spies monitoring his movements, and they confirmed he's already clashed with Tsunade and Jiraiya at the Great Naruto Bridge."
The Raikage's brow furrowed. "And what about our allies? What's the status of our forces?"
"Not everyone is in disarray," Samui continued, "but we need to be cautious. Sasuke has taken drastic measures—he's using the Reanimation Jutsu to bring back the dead to bolster his ranks. The Akatsuki members he revived are fighting alongside him."
Darui exchanged a worried glance with C. "He's resurrecting those who should have remained at rest? That's… dangerous."
The Raikage clenched his jaw, processing the information. "Sasuke has always been willing to cross lines that others wouldn't dare. I knew he was the one responsible for attacking my village."
As they continued their trek back toward the Cloud Village, the Raikage paused, drawing the attention of Darui, C, and Samui. His expression shifted from pain to intensity, and the gravity of what he was about to reveal hung heavily in the air.
"I have something to say," the Raikage declared, his voice steady despite the strain. "Back at the Five Kage Summit, I felt my mind being controlled. I was connected to an Uchiha using a powerful genjutsu."
Samui's eyes widened in shock. "Genjutsu? You mean someone was manipulating you?"
The Raikage nodded slowly, his jaw tightening. "Yes. I never initiated any of this conflict. I was forced into a position where I had to act against the Leaf and the other villages. It's as if someone had their hand on my thoughts, directing my actions. We need to warn the other nations still standing."
C furrowed his brow, processing the implications. "You're saying that Sasuke is not acting alone? That he's being backed by someone with the ability to control minds?"
The Raikage straightened, the weight of responsibility evident in his expression. "Now that I know Sasuke is the one responsible for using the reanimation jutsu to attack my village and manipulating every nation, I must apologize to Mei. I wrongly accused her of attacking the Hidden Cloud, and I need to make that right."
Samui nodded, understanding the gravity of his words. "It's important to clear the air, especially since our alliances are so fragile. An apology from you will carry a lot of weight."
"Exactly," the Raikage replied, his tone firm. "We need to ensure that the Mist and Cloud stand united against this threat. We can't afford to have any misunderstandings that might lead to further conflict."
"Should I send a message directly to the Mizukage?" Samui asked, preparing to draft the communication.
"Yes," the Raikage affirmed. "Make sure to express my sincerest apologies and let her know that the Hidden Cloud is ready to lend our strength to her. We must pool our resources and fight against Sasuke and whoever is orchestrating this chaos from the shadows."
Darui added, "We should also include the other Kage in the message. If we can unite the remaining nations, we can counteract Sasuke's plans more effectively."
"Good thinking, Darui," the Raikage said, his expression hardening with resolve. "We need to make it clear that we're not just fighting for our villages; we're fighting to protect the future of the ninja world itself."
With a renewed sense of purpose, Samui began drafting the message to Mei, carefully crafting words that conveyed both sincerity and urgency. The Raikage watched her, determined to ensure that they moved swiftly.
"Once we send this message, we'll prepare for our next steps. We can't underestimate Sasuke or his allies," the Raikage said, glancing at the horizon. "It's time to gather our strength and strategize. We need to be ready to confront whatever he has planned next."
As Samui finished the message and prepared to dispatch it, the Raikage's mind raced with thoughts of the impending confrontation. The stakes had never been higher, and he knew that unity was their best hope against the encroaching darkness.
Back in the Land of Tea, the battle raged on as Naruto, Chojuro, and Utakata faced off against Nagato and Konan. The air was thick with tension as Nagato's rinnegan gleamed with power, and Konan's paper jutsu swirled dangerously around the battlefield. Naruto, sensing the gravity of the situation, turned to Chojuro and Utakata.
"Keep your distance for now," Naruto instructed, his tone serious. "I'll engage them directly. You two support from the sides and make sure we don't get overwhelmed."
Chojuro nodded, gripping his sword tightly, ready to act when needed. Utakata summoned more of his chakra bubbles, ready to disrupt any incoming attacks.
Just then, Gamabunta, who was locked in combat with Nagato's gigantic summons, called out to Naruto. "Naruto! I need backup! These summons are relentless!"
Naruto glanced over, seeing the massive beasts pushing Gamabunta to his limit. He knew he had to balance the fight against both Nagato and his formidable summons.
"Hold on, Bunta!" Naruto shouted, quickly forming hand signs. In an instant, several shadow clones appeared beside him, and with a flash of Flying Raijin, they rushed toward Gamabunta, leaping onto the battlefield to provide aid.
The clones engaged Nagato's summons, slamming Rasengans into the giant creatures in an attempt to slow them down. Gamabunta let out a grunt of approval, his massive sword cleaving through one of the summons as he regained his footing.
Naruto, still in Sage Mode, turned his attention back to Nagato and Konan. He charged forward, the Rasenshuriken spinning in his hand, aiming to break through Nagato's defenses.
Naruto hurled his kunai with precision, watching it sail past Konan as she unleashed a flurry of razor-sharp paper blades toward him. Without missing a beat, he vanished, using his Flying Raijin technique to teleport behind her. With Rasenshuriken already prepared in his hand, he struck Konan directly, the sheer force of the attack dispersing her paper defenses.
Konan barely had time to react before the devastating technique hit her, scattering her paper body momentarily. Before Naruto could land another strike, Nagato suddenly appeared in front of him, using his incredible speed to block the next attack. He raised his hand, ready to counter, but Naruto was already one step ahead. Using Flying Raijin once again, Naruto teleported above Nagato, forming hand signs in mid-air.
"Water Style: Severing Wave!" Naruto shouted as a powerful surge of water erupted from his mouth, crashing down onto Nagato.
Nagato deflected most of the water with a quick Shinra Tensei, sending the remaining force spiraling away, but he was visibly impressed. Konan reformed beside him, shaken but steady. Both of them gazed at Naruto with a mixture of admiration and regret.
"You've really learned from the best, Naruto," Nagato said, his voice carrying a tone of respect. "Jiraiya-sensei would be proud of you."
Konan nodded in agreement, her paper wings slowly reforming behind her. "You truly are a worthy student of Jiraiya-sensei. It's clear you carry on his will."
Naruto lowered his stance, breathing heavily but maintaining his resolve. He looked at them both with a sad smile. "I only wish we could've met under different circumstances… There's so much we could've done together."
Konan's gaze softened, and even Nagato's stern expression eased. There was a mutual understanding in the air—one that transcended their current conflict. Both of them knew that, in another time, things might have been different. They could have fought for the same peace, just as Jiraiya had dreamed.
Nagato and Konan, with a somber expression, looked at Naruto. Their voices carried a sense of resignation as they spoke in unison, "Naruto… we are reanimated corpses. We can't control our actions completely. Our bodies are bound to this war, and we no longer have the freedom to choose our path."
Naruto stood still, his heart sinking as he processed their words. The weight of their predicament became clear, and he could see the pain behind their controlled movements. This wasn't the fight they wanted, nor the war they believed in anymore.
Nagato's eyes, filled with both sorrow and determination, met Naruto's. "You must hurry… Seal us away, so we can finally rest in peace. It's the only way to stop us from causing more harm."
Konan nodded, her paper wings fluttering lightly as she prepared for what was to come. "We trust you, Naruto. Jiraiya-sensei must have seen something in you—something we see now too. Please, do what you must."
Naruto tightened his grip on the sealing tags Jiraiya had given him earlier. His heart ached knowing he had to do this, but he also knew it was the only way to save them from their cursed state. He looked at Nagato and Konan, who were now fully prepared to let go, ready for their final rest.
"I'm sorry it had to be like this," Naruto said quietly. "But I promise, I'll make sure peace comes after this war. I'll make Jiraiya-sensei's dream a reality."
As Nagato and Konan, despite their own pleas, warned Naruto that their bodies were about to move against him, Naruto reacted quickly. His instincts kicked in, and without hesitation, he created more shadow clones to divide their attention. Swiftly, Naruto tossed his special kunai, marked with the Flying Raijin seal, and teleported across the battlefield, narrowly dodging a barrage of paper blades from Konan and a chakra rod strike from Nagato.
In an instant, Naruto appeared behind them and, with a surge of sage chakra, slammed his Rasengan into Nagato. The force of the Rasengan sent a powerful shockwave through Nagato's reanimated body, but Naruto knew it wouldn't be enough. Moving fast, he summoned more shadow clones, surrounding Nagato and Konan from all sides.
"Water Style: Severing Wave!" Naruto called out, as his clones unleashed torrents of water at Nagato and Konan, forcing them into a defensive stance. The water surged around them, creating a barrier of swirling currents.
Naruto's eyes focused as he prepared his next move. He combined his chakra with the water, shaping it into a massive water prison, trapping both Nagato and Konan inside. The water pulsed with pressure, keeping them immobilized for a moment, but he knew he had to act fast before their reanimated bodies broke free.
From his pouch, Naruto pulled out a lightning-infused seal. "This should stop you!" he shouted, as he attached the seal to a kunai and threw it directly into the water prison. The moment the kunai touched the water, there was a brilliant flash of light, and the entire prison erupted with electricity. A massive explosion rippled through the water prison, sending waves of water and lightning scattering across the battlefield.
Nagato and Konan, still caught inside the prison, convulsed as the lightning coursed through their reanimated bodies, temporarily halting their movements. Steam rose from the water as the jutsu's power dissipated, leaving both Nagato and Konan momentarily subdued.
Naruto, seeing that Nagato and Konan were no longer able to resist, sprinted toward them with the sealing scroll Jiraiya had entrusted him with. His heart raced as he knew time was running out. He quickly unfurled the scroll, wrapping it around both of them, and channeled his chakra into the sealing technique.
As the paper seals began to bind tighter around Nagato and Konan, their movements slowed, and the glow of the reanimation jutsu began to fade. Konan's calm voice broke through the chaos. "Naruto… you carry the will of the great Jiraiya-sensei. We believe in you… to bring peace to this world."
Nagato, his eyes heavy, nodded in agreement. "You've shown me that our dream wasn't in vain. Jiraiya chose you for a reason. We entrust the future to you… Naruto."
Naruto, feeling the weight of their trust, looked into their eyes with resolve. "I swear, I'll do everything I can to bring peace. I'll make sure Jiraiya's dream lives on, and I'll protect the world."
With a final surge of chakra, Naruto activated the sealing tag, and the paper wraps glowed brightly. Nagato and Konan smiled softly, their bodies slowly fading into the seal, at peace with their decision.
"Thank you, Naruto," Konan whispered, as the last of her form disappeared.
"You are the bridge to peace," Nagato added, before vanishing completely.
The battlefield became quiet as the sealing scroll fully wrapped around itself and sealed Nagato And Konan as Naruto was finally able to take a breather as he collapsed on the floor trying to catch his breath.
Utakata and Chojuro watched as Gamabunta wrestled with Nagato's massive summons, trying to keep them at bay. Just as the situation looked dire, the summons suddenly poofed out of existence, dissipating into nothing. Both of them immediately realized what had likely happened—Naruto had sealed Nagato.
Relief washed over them, but there was no time to relax. "Let's go!" Chojuro called out, rallying the Hidden Mist forces. They all rushed toward the area where Naruto had been fighting.
When they arrived, they saw Naruto lying on the ground, exhausted, his breathing heavy but steady. The sealing scroll that had contained Nagato and Konan was nearby, securely wrapped up. Chojuro knelt by Naruto's side, concern etched on his face. "Naruto, are you alright?"
Naruto opened his eyes and smiled weakly. "Yeah… just catching my breath," he said, clearly drained from the intense battle.
Utakata approached, giving a small nod of respect. "You did it, Naruto. You really sealed them."
The Hidden Mist forces gathered around, some of them whispering among themselves about how Naruto, the "Demon Flash of the Mist," had once again saved the day. Chojuro placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder, a mixture of admiration and gratitude in his expression.
"We couldn't have done this without you. The battle would have been lost if you hadn't come through," Chojuro said.
Naruto sat up slowly, looking around at the battlefield and the relieved faces of the Mist shinobi. "It was a team effort. I couldn't have done it without all of you," he said, smiling despite his exhaustion. "But we're not done yet. We still have to make sure this war ends the right way."
Gamabunta who stood tall near the Mist forces gazed at Naruto as he knew he was no longer needed. "Naruto my boy! You did a great job, if you need me don't hesitate to call me again!" He yelled out as Naruto looked up smiling as he waved his hand back at him. "Thanks Toad chief! I appreciate the help!" Naruto yelled back as he saw Gamabunta poofed back to Mount Myoboku as he was greatful for his assist during their battle.
Naruto stood tall, feeling the weight of the battles he had fought, but there was still more ahead. Turning to Chojuro and Utakata, he gave them a firm nod. "Make sure the Mist forces head back down south to the command center," he instructed. "There's a medical camp set up there. Everyone needs to heal up and get ready for what's next."
Chojuro and Utakata exchanged glances, nodding in agreement. "We'll take care of it," Chojuro responded. "You've done more than enough here. Go confront Sasuke—this needs to end."
Naruto's expression hardened. "Yeah, I need to face him. This war can't keep going like this." He took a deep breath, mentally preparing himself for what was to come. "I'm going to teleport to Tsunade's side now. She'll need backup."
Utakata stepped forward, placing a hand on Naruto's shoulder. "Good luck, Naruto. You've done more than enough for us. Now go finish this."
Chojuro gave him a determined smile. "We'll be right behind you when you need us."
Naruto returned the smile, albeit wearily. "Thanks. I'll see you both on the other side."
Without another word, Naruto closed his eyes, focusing his chakra. In an instant, he vanished in a flash of light, using the Flying Raijin technique to teleport to Tsunade's side, ready to confront Sasuke and end the battle once and for all.
Utakata and Chojuro watched as the bright flash faded, knowing that Naruto was about to face one of the greatest challenges of the war. "Let's get everyone to safety," Chojuro said. Utakata nodded, and together, they led the Hidden Mist forces south toward the medical camp, hoping for some brief respite before the final confrontation.
Back at the command base in the Land of Tea, Ao stood with a group of sensory ninja, their eyes focused on the ongoing battles displayed on several monitors and maps. One of the sensory ninja turned to Ao, excitement in their voice. "Sir, Naruto has managed to defeat and seal the Akatsuki with Team 2. It seems like they're heading back to the medical camp now."
Ao let out a small sigh of relief, but he didn't fully relax. "That kid… he really knows how to handle himself," he muttered. "What about the other forces? Any sign of the Leaf shinobi?"
Another sensory ninja spoke up. "Naruto also managed to convince the Leaf forces on the other side to retreat. It seems like he's prevented what could have been a huge bloodshed between the Hidden Leaf and Hidden Mist forces."
Ao crossed his arms, contemplating the situation. "Naruto not only fought the Akatsuki but kept the alliance from fracturing further… that's no small feat."
One of the younger sensory ninja chimed in, clearly impressed. "Naruto's influence is strong. The fact that he can fight and lead like this is something else. He's really becoming the hope in this war."
Ao nodded, but his face was grim. "It's not over yet. We may have stopped the Akatsuki, but as long as Sasuke keeps using the Reanimation Jutsu and manipulating this war, there's no peace in sight." He turned to the other ninja. "Keep an eye on Naruto's movements, and inform me the moment he confronts Sasuke. This war is hanging by a thread, and Naruto is at the center of it all now."
The sensory ninja gave a collective nod and resumed their monitoring, knowing that the next few hours could determine the outcome of the entire war. Ao remained stoic, trusting in Naruto's strength, but aware of the immense pressure and danger the young shinobi still faced.
Back at the Great Naruto Bridge, the tension was thick as Tsunade and Jiraiya stood their ground, facing off against Itachi. Jiraiya, ever observant, noticed something strange. Itachi's attacks lacked the lethal precision he was known for. "He's holding back…" Jiraiya muttered to himself, narrowing his eyes. "What's his game?"
Before Jiraiya could ponder further, Sasuke made his move. In an instant, lightning crackled from his hands as he unleashed the Chidori Stream, aiming straight for Tsunade. The sharp arc of electricity surged forward, but Tsunade's reflexes were sharp as ever. She swiftly dodged the attack, her eyes blazing with determination.
"You're finished here, Sasuke!" Tsunade roared, her voice echoing across the battlefield. "This is where you die!"
Sasuke's eyes narrowed, his Sharingan spinning as he absorbed every detail of her movements. He could feel her raw anger and intent as she charged at him. Tsunade's fists were clenched, her strength amplified by her monstrous chakra control. "I'm taking my place back as Hokage!" she declared, her voice filled with conviction.
Sasuke barely reacted, his cold demeanor unwavering. "The Hokage's seat belongs to me now, Tsunade. You should have stayed in retirement," he replied, his voice emotionless as ever. He was fully prepared to counter her, but Jiraiya interrupted the confrontation, calling out, "This isn't just about the Hokage's seat anymore, Sasuke. What you're doing is tearing the world apart."
Sasuke's eyes flicked toward Jiraiya for a moment, then back to Tsunade. "This world needs to be torn apart for it to change."
Just then, Itachi stepped forward, his hand lightly brushing Sasuke's arm. "Enough," Itachi said calmly, his tone low but firm. "This fight won't end the way you think it will, Sasuke."
Sasuke shot a sharp look at his brother, clearly irritated by Itachi's interference. "Stay out of this, Itachi."
But Itachi, as always, remained enigmatic. His eyes, the same as Sasuke's, glowed with an unreadable intensity. "We have more to worry about than titles and power struggles," Itachi added, subtly gesturing toward the distant battlefield where forces were clashing, where Naruto was still fighting to bring peace. "Think, Sasuke. Do you want to fight your old comrades, or do you want to save this world?"
Sasuke hesitated, caught between his ambition and his brother's words. Tsunade and Jiraiya, watching the exchange, could sense a shift. Tsunade didn't lower her fists, but she, too, was starting to understand that there was more at play here than just a battle for the title of Hokage.
Sasuke glared at Itachi, his voice cold and resolute. "I told you, Itachi. I walk my own path, and no one will stop me." With lightning crackling in his hand, Sasuke formed the Chidori and charged at Tsunade, aiming for a lethal strike.
Just before the attack could land, a blur of movement appeared between them. Naruto teleported in using the Flying Raijin technique, grabbing Tsunade and pulling her to safety. In the same motion, Naruto unleashed Water Style: Severing Wave, sending a powerful torrent of water crashing toward Sasuke and Itachi, forcing them both to retreat a few steps.
Tsunade, wide-eyed but unshaken, looked at Naruto, who now stood in front of her protectively. "You made it back in time," she muttered, catching her breath.
Naruto nodded, his expression serious as he kept his gaze locked on Sasuke and Itachi. "I'm here to help this time," he said. "I managed to seal the reanimated Akatsuki members back in the Land of Tea. It's time to end this."
Sasuke, still brimming with lightning chakra, steadied himself after the water attack. "You just don't know when to give up, do you, Naruto?" His Sharingan flared, his focus narrowing on his old rival. "No matter how many times you interfere, you won't change anything."
Naruto stood tall, his eyes filled with determination as his chakra flared. "This isn't just about me and you, Sasuke. This war is destroying everything we've ever known. I'm not going to let you tear the world apart."
Itachi, standing beside Sasuke, remained silent but watched Naruto closely. He could see the resolve in Naruto's eyes, much like his own. But he knew Sasuke's determination wouldn't be easily swayed.
Tsunade stepped up beside Naruto, her fists clenched. "I've had enough of this nonsense. You've caused enough damage, Sasuke. It's time to put an end to it."
Naruto now alongside Team 1 with Jiraiya, Tsunade and Zabuza were ready to face their biggest battle yet as Naruto hoped he can still save his comrades again this time and put an end to this war.
