Three days later and Rose still hadn't returned to the flat. Instead she had locked herself away and listened to classical music as she cried, loudly. The music reminded her of Emmet. While she wanted to reunite with him, she didn't like how he had behaved to Jack. She knew she too had been in the wrong but like Hyacinth, apologies didn't come naturally to Rose.

...

Giving Rose the week off because Violet knew how useless Rose was after a break-up, Violet covered for Rose at the bookies. That meant having to attend the annual Local Gambler's Association trade meeting. This also would be the first time she would have to encounter Bruce in person since her divorce.

The meeting was dull and long but luckily Violet managed to give Bruce a wide birth. That was until he took to the podium to warn his fellow bookmakers about a trouble customer and gambling addict called Jack O'Riley.

Upset, and convinced Bruce had just fabricated this warning to wind her up, Violet stormed out. Noticing, Bruce followed his ex-wife.

"Violet! I didn't mean to upset you, but I thought you and the other traders needed to know. The man's trouble! I promise you, he's bad news. I am only looking out for you." He pleaded running after her, along the conference centre's long corridor.

"You swine! You made that up to get back at me!" She shouted, turning to face him. As she turned so violently, her long fur coat almost tripped Bruce up.

Astounded at the statement Bruce laughed. "Don't be ridiculous Violet!"

"You're the ridiculous one Bruce! Now leave me and my family alone!" The redhead cried and with that she trotted out of the building. Bruce decided it would be a pointless exercise following her any further.
