AN: I uh don't have a witty line this time. I just wanted to put up another chapter. Yay!

Ferb (at prom)

It's crowded.

I look around the room and don't see any of my friends. At least I think they're still my friends.

Jazmin has a firm grip on my hand as she drags me towards the center of the dance floor. She's wearing a gray bodycon dress, with lacing up both her legs, showing them off. It's a turtle neck cut with no sleeves. Somehow showing everything off, while still covering her whole torso. Like homecoming, she's wearing the tallest, thinnest, heels she can.

I think I would have completely lost it to say she didn't look anything other than hot. But, it honestly isn'tt my preference in outfits. Especially as she leads us into a fast, complicated dance.

Thankfully my body can follow along without my brain being present. I take the chance to look around the crowd. Everyone gives us a wide berth custody of Jazmin aggressively taking up space, but others are dancing as well. I can see Ginger and Baljeet, both in an ivory color, dancing and chatting happily.

Time passes, people approach and are quickly told off by Jazmin. I stay silent.

I spot Gretchen and Buford wearing light purple, walking around holding hands. They look like they are having a good time. Lucky for me Jazmin doesn't care I'm not talking right now, too focussed on showboating her skills.

More time, more dances.

I assume it hasn't actually been that long, but it feels like an eternity.

I see Adyson, in red. Irving in all white, I have to do a double take. He's so bright. Millie and Katie are in different shades of green. Holly in dark blue. They all look, happy.

Thankfully Jazmin needs a bathroom break. I take the opportunity for some stillness and go to the bathroom as well.

"Ferb, hey man." Django catches me outside the restroom.

I turn to him, he's wearing a baby pink suit with a light brown shirt. He looks great, more like I would have dressed had I been given a choice. I give him a slight wave.

"You look," he looks me up and down, "like a statue."

I nod, that's what Jazmin was going for.

"My man she is hogging you, it kinda stinks to see you with only one dance partner."

I stare at him.

"I'm not kidding man, ever since she came into your life, you have changed."

I continue to stare, what am I supposed to say?

"Well, I can't wait to see you and Isabella dance. Missed it at homecoming. Bye Ferb."

And he's gone now. I wave at him. That was weird.

Something, or someone, sticks in my mind, Isabella.

I haven't seen her yet. Jazmin probably made sure we stayed far away from her and Phineas. I remember she was wearing white, but I didn't get a chance to actually see her. I hope I can convince Jazmin to let me dance with Isabella. I miss her.

There's an arm pulling me back to the dance floor, Jazmin.

We continue to not talk, which isn't new for me, but it is certainly new for Jazmin. I let my eyes drift around at the other dancers. I catch a glimpse of white, I turn my head toward it instinctively, hoping to see her. Jazmin notices of course and spends the next two dances twisting me around so much I have no choice but to stop looking around for Isabella.

My next reprieve is sooner than the first, Jazmin needs water. I count my blessings that she is still human. She leaves me near the dance floor. I look for an empty seat, a little dizzy from the last couple dances. I stare at the ceiling, waiting for my incoming doom.

"Hey Ferb?" a voice breaks me out of my melancholy.

I look to her, if I thought she looked like an angel at homecoming, then she must be a goddess right now.

Wearing an all white dress with large off the shoulder sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Hair mostly down with slight waves. I'm left breathless. Which only worsens the dizziness. I sway in my seat, pitching forward.

Isabella rushes a couple of steps forward to catch me, "Careful there."

I look into her eyes, she seems a little sad. I raise a hand to her face and brush stray hair away.

She flushes, "thanks, I'm glad I finally caught you, literally." laughing lightly, " I didn't think I would get another opportunity to ask." She backs up and offers a hand to me. "May I have this next dance?"

I look between her hand and face, weighing my options. A dance with the one person I desperately want to dance with, Jazmin's wrath.

I take her hand.

"Yes!" She gently guides me back to the dance floor. "I asked the DJ to play the next song specifically for us!"

I stare at her as we get into frame.

"Oh please, it's the same DJ we've had at every school dance since freshman year, he was thrilled for a chance to feature THE Ferb and Isabella dancing moment." She rolls her eyes playfully.

It starts up, "Let's show everyone how it's done." Isabella smiles up to me.

We fall into rhythm quickly, she lets me lead the whole time, a welcome change to the rest of the night. It's fun and full of energy. I feel alive for the first time tonight. But something is nagging me.

I work up the courage to ask, "Where's Phineas?"

"Honestly, I have no idea. We drove together but split as soon as we got in, I've been dancing as much as you have. Haven't gotten to him yet." She says easily, unbothered.

"You don't know where your boyfriend is?" I raise my eyebrows at her.

"Oh, Phineas and I aren't dating."

I'm so shocked I misstep.

"Woah there." She covers it with ease, "I thought you knew."

I stare at her, incredulously.

"Obviously not." She laughs a little.

I stare at her. Silently prompting her to go on.

"We broke up, amicably, two weeks ago? Yeah, two weeks. We decided that we weren't really anything but friends anyway, just had the label of something more. We still came together, because it was awkward to break up two weeks before prom. But as just friends!"

She's actually not bothered by this. "You aren't hurt?"

She looks to me meaningfully, "no Ferb, I promise I am not bothered by Phineas and I breaking up."

I nod to her quickly, still shocked by this revelation. A moment passes, we are still dancing.

"I am bothered by never seeing my best friend anymore though." she says suddenly.

"You and Gretchen got ready together today though?" I say confused.

She glares at me lightly, "not Gretchen. You."

"Wha-" I am interrupted by someone yanking me away from Isabella.

"What is going on here?" Jazmin asks pointedly.

I freeze up, going back to my shell. Not responding.

I can feel Isabella looking at me, "So Phineas was right." Then to Jazmin, "We were dancing."

"I can see that, dumb dumb."

The small crowd around us reacts to that. Nobody has dared bully Isabella in all the years I have known her. Her vengeance streak too risky.

"Hey, don't call Isa a dumb dumb." Phineas is here.

"I got this Phin." Isabella.

"What exactly do you 'got'?" Jazmin mocks.

"What is your problem with me dancing with my friend exactly?" Isabella says confidently.

"Ugh, you all don't get it. Ferb and I don't need any of you. Right, Ferb?" I feel Jazmin looking at me.

I look up, into Isabella's eyes. Somewhere deeper than it used to be, I know my place is the spot next to her.

But Jazmin is already angry, I can't fight her right now.

"Right, Ferb?" Jazmin spits out.

I flinch and nod with no emotion behind it.
