A/N: I can't believe we're only a week away from the end of Whumptober already!

This prompt was written on the same day as yesterday's prompt, and I forgot to say this before, but Days 20-22 were all written on the same day.

Without further ado, let's move on to the reviews and what matters most: the prompt!

Super duper waffles

Sure, I'm okay with that!

1. The UK in particular was skeptical of Sonic's appearance on Earth, and they were ready to supply aid to help contain Sonic, but they stood down when it became clear that Eggman was an enemy and Sonic was trying to stop him. Several other countries were skeptical too, but they did not take action before the UN asked them to stand down.

2. Practically the entire world was left in shock after Perfect Chaos, and nearly every first and second world country pitched in with relief efforts to repair the damage. Of course, they condemned Eggman's actions as a result since they knew he was controlling Chaos.

3. Thankfully, video game consoles were spared since they did not classify as house appliances during the apocalypse. Only hybrids like the one that was in Chris' room could fuse with video game consoles, and the video game developers gave them replacement consoles for free.

4. The other countries did not criticize the United States when GUN built their robot army because no one knew it was Eggman who supplied them to GUN. However, they were immediately suspicious when they seemed to suddenly turn on Sonic.

5. After the fall of the Society, a mass investigation was launched into the integrity of the GUN robots and Valkyries, and it was confirmed that only the ones in Division Alpha were hacked into by the Society, despite Eggman supplying the robots. Since the Valkyries were built at Area 99 rather than by Eggman, they are still in use to this day. Although, GUN is unsure of what to do with the remaining robots for now since they were supplied by Eggman, but since Eggman is no longer on Earth, they figured it may be all right to keep using them.

6. There have been some Eggman supporters, although they may think he is a bit reckless, but they figured it's a small price to pay for getting rid of Sonic. However, none of the Eggman supporters were ever as big as the Society.

Go for it, good luck with CoE Chronicles!

Have you thought about rewriting NCFR? If you like the idea, you could always change the cringey parts into something better and breathe new life into it with your current style.

I hadn't even thought about that! I would say probably not, although it would take place a while later after the story where Chris was hiding under his bed.

It's up to the readers to interpret what happens next! :D

Same here! Maybe I should continue some of the prompts if I have the motivation to do so, but in the words of Willy Wonka, "The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last."

Day Twenty-Four: Radiation Poisoning
Prompts: Radiation Poisoning & Collapsed Building

Chemical Plant Zone was completely different in person.

Anyone else would think that a place with a name like "Chemical Plant" would look polluted and completely uninhabitable – well, it was to an extent – but instead it looked more like one giant colorful warehouse. Amidst the yellow and black striped beams, there were red, blue, and gray buildings and pathways that connected to all of the zone's facilities.

Chris had been pulled to Sonic's world by an invention that had gone wrong, and Sonic promised to find a way to get him back home. However, the twist was that Sonic was a popular video game character on Chris' world, along with spinoff media such as TV shows and comics, and Chris had a very hard time explaining it to Sonic, between wondering what his reaction would be and his own fanboying over Sonic; he was actually getting to meet a video game character in real life!

As surprised as Sonic was, he was very understanding, and Tails pointed out that Chris' knowledge of their world could come in very handy in finding the Chaos Emeralds. But Chris couldn't stay back at Sonic's house because Eggman was quickly able to find out about Chris' knowledge of Mobius, which meant he had to keep moving at all times.

"Are you sure this is where the Chaos Emerald is?" Chris asked as he ran faster to keep up with Sonic and Tails.

"Yup!" Tails replied. "It's somewhere within two miles from here. I'll need to check again…"

He pulled out his Miles Electric and looked at the radar as Chris looked around. There were a lot of bridges, several of which didn't have railings, which meant Chris had to be careful, especially since there were vats and rivers of a purple sludge-like substance. He could see Sonic glancing around from on top of one of the large vats of chemicals. He flinched as Sonic was suddenly standing next to him in the blink of an eye.

"So… is Chemical Plant anything like the games?" Sonic asked.

"Kind of, but no…" Chris said. "The games didn't have all the security checkpoints that Tails hacked through earlier."

"No security?" Sonic said, feigning shock. "I'm pretty sure this zone is one of the biggest power sources on the whole planet! Why would there not be any security?"

"Yeah, especially since all the chemicals here are extremely dangerous," Tails said. "There's also radiation here."

Sonic nodded. "You don't wanna be near the power plants when they transfer radiation," he said.

"I didn't know about the radiation," Chris said, shuddering.

"I guess that wasn't in the games, then," Tails shrugged as he put away his tablet. "Anyway, the Chaos Emerald is right over there in that warehouse."

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Sonic exclaimed before he ran forward down the path.

"Sonic, wait!" Tails called after him, before letting out a sigh, and his ears and tails dropped slightly. "He's always running ahead of me… But that just means I have to run faster. C'mon, Chris!" Chris ran forward and joined Tails before they both ran across the metal bridge "Stay close, though, it could be dangerous."

"Yeah, I think I saw a few Badniks earlier," Chris said, glancing warily behind him.

"They're probably waiting for Eggman to come and get the Emerald," Tails speculated. "I wouldn't be surprised if there are more."

As Chris made his way toward the warehouse that Sonic was in, he realized it was surprisingly chilly in the zone. He thought it would be hot due to all the metal and machines everywhere, but it made sense that it was cold since it would help to prevent the machines from overheating.

"I kinda realized… We haven't seen too many robots since we got here," Chris noted, glancing up at the tops of the vats and buildings.

"Uh-oh…" Tails said. It seemed like he didn't realize that before.

Before long, they both made their way into the warehouse. Fortunately they didn't need to enter the passcode for the door since Sonic spin-dashed his way through it, which meant all Tails and Chris needed to do was crawl through the hole in the door.

But as soon as they stepped into the lobby, Sonic came running straight back to them.

"Guys, we gotta go! It's a trap!" he exclaimed. "There are robots everywhere up there, they just set up a bomb and–"

The moment he said that, a tremendous and deafening explosion ripped through the air, sending metal, glass, and chemicals everywhere. Chris did not have the same agility that his Mobian friends had, so he wasn't lucky. He was quickly buried several feet deep in the rubble, and there was literally no time for anyone to react.

He couldn't move or see a thing. There was debris everywhere, but more importantly, he was hurt. His leg felt weird, and there were cuts all over his body. His clothes were ripped in some places as the metal tore small holes in it.

He tried to move some of the debris aside and climb higher, but he hissed in pain when he felt his leg play up. He really hoped he didn't break his leg. That would really slow him down, and he knew how much Sonic didn't like slowing down.

He could faintly hear a voice calling his name, but when he tried to call back, no one responded. But that wasn't the only problem he found himself dealing with. When he tried to move, he felt a strange burning pain in his back and right arm. It felt like a rash, but last time he checked, rashes didn't make him feel like he had a high fever or nausea.

His eyes widened in shock as he realized what had just happened to him.

He tried even harder to climb out, but he heard noises from above him. When he looked up, he saw pieces of debris being thrown to the side. Someone was coming to rescue him. A gloved hand reached down to him, and Chris tried to reach his hand up to Sonic to take it.

Except Sonic noticed that something looked off about Chris' hand. He hesitated for a moment before taking it and pulling him out of the pile of debris. It hurt quite a bit, and Chris yelped in pain before collapsing back onto the pile. Sonic's expression softened as he studied Chris all over.

"Hey Tails!" Sonic called. "Tails, you here?"

Fortunately, the small fox wasn't far away, since he got lucky and wasn't buried too deep in the debris, and he quickly made his way over. He let out a small gasp when he saw the state that Chris was in.

Chris had a broken leg, cuts all over, and large rashes on his arm and possibly other parts of his body as well, and even worse, there was no hospital nearby that Sonic knew of.

"Sonic…" Tails whispered.

"Chris… You still with us?" Sonic asked, bending down to Chris' level.

"Everything hurts…" Chris said, unable to stop the tears flowing down his face. "I feel l-like I'm on fire…"

Tails could only stare at the red spots in horror.

"Is… is that what those red spots are?!" he exclaimed.

"Looks like radiation poisoning," Sonic said in a sad voice. "We gotta get you to the nearest hospital ASAP."

"But… what about the Chaos Emerald…?" Chris asked weakly.

"Eh, that can wait," Sonic shrugged as he carefully lifted Chris into his arms. "What goes around comes around. Getting you to the hospital comes first!"

"I'll come with you, Sonic," Tails said as he flew after Sonic. The two heroes made their way out of Chemical Plant Zone as fast as possible.

"S… So… nic…" Chris whimpered in a barely audible voice. "It… hurts…"

"I know, Chris… Hang in there for me, okay?"

"I'm sorry… I know how you don't like slowing down…" Chris said, tears blinding his vision from pain.

"Chris… My friends are always worth slowing down for. Never doubt that for a second," Sonic said firmly but gently, but Chris didn't reply because his eyes were now closed. He had already lost consciousness as the pain and radiation took hold.

A/N: That concludes day 24! Hopefully that's the last time Chris passes out at the end of a prompt, only for the universe to reset for the next one! Thanks to elprovchico for helping out with this prompt!

Also I know that Sonic is canon in Chris' world in this story, which means Chris would both appear in Sonic X and be real at the same time, but for the sake of clarity, let's just say it was a different kid in Sonic X in this continuity.

Tomorrow's theme is "Surgery!"
