Kairi found herself floating in a bubble surrounded by water. Saki was fluttering around, poking the bubble in curiosity. Thankfully it wouldn't pop.

Where are we? She wondered, looking around to see she wasn't on the sea floor but rather in a familiar place, Yen Sid's tower. "This must be some time in the past, like the Country of Musketeers… Well, we better go see who needs our help!"

With her and Saki's strength combined, they were able to float up the steps and into the study where they could surface, popping the bubble.

It was then that Kairi saw a familiar face sleeping in Yen Sid's chair but it wasn't the wizard himself. It was King Mickey! He wore the sorcerer's starry hat and was waving his arms like he was conducting a symphony.

Who are you? Mickey asked, his voice floating around the room.

"My name's Kairi, I wish we were meeting under better circumstances!" The girl answered, swimming closer. She clung onto a nearby music stand to stay close

Mickey gave a weak laugh. Me too. My name's Mickey! I'm the apprentice of Yen Sid but I got myself in a bit of trouble. See, a monster's possessed that music you're hanging onto and he's producing darkness that's stopping anyone from going in and defeating him. To dispel the darkness, we need a Sound Idea.

"That must be the Dream Eater I let escape from Traverse Town…" Kairi mumbled softly to herself, remembering how it looked to be a conductor. "Alright, where do I find a Sound Idea?"

After a second to think, Mickey summoned another music stand. You can find one in this score!

Kairi swam up, reading the title before giving a nod. She summoned her keyblade and launched a beam into the score. Light and music filled the room as she was taken in the score.

The girl was excited to see she was standing on a large bundle of clouds surrounded by a bright blue sky. "It's so pretty!"

It didn't take long for Nightmares to suddenly appear around her and Saki.

With every hit, the two made a wonderful harmony together causing a rainbow bridge to appear. It granted them passage into the mountains where a stormy forest awaited them.

Kairi closed her eyes as Nightmares surrounded her, listening to the music. The drums seemed up with the crashes of thunder and cracks of lightning that filled the sky.

She fought in time with the music until the Dream Eaters were gone. The clouds parted, revealing the clear blue sky as the score became peaceful once again.

The girl walked out of the forest to find herself overlooking a beautiful meadow full of flowers.

A shining sheet of music floated on the nearby cliff, the Sound Idea.

Kairi walked up and claimed it with a quick blast from her keyblade. She then took a moment to gaze at the stunning landscape, listening to the calming music that accompanied it.

"I'm afraid if you linger too long, you'll soon find yourself unable to escape…"

Kairi spun around in surprise to see the young man with golden eyes. She summoned her keyblade at once.

The man held out his hand as if to say he didn't want to fight. "I wouldn't blame you if that was what you wished. So often I find myself wanting a beautiful, peaceful world such as this one where all would live in harmony… But I can't achieve that, not yet, anyway."

"What do you want from me?" Kairi asked in suspicion. She still had no clue why he kept following her around, if he was even real at all. It made sense for the past Organization members to appear in these dreams but not someone she didn't know (no matter how familiar he seemed).

"You still don't understand, do you, Kairi?" The man chuckled as flower petals began to blow down as if symbolizing her losing the same sense of denial against an incoming storm they provided the tree. "I'm not part of your mastery test, I'm not even a part of these dreams…"

Kairi felt her chest tighten as the music became sharp and chaotic. Could that really be true? If he was real then did that mean the others were too? Even after she'd defeated them? "N-No, that can't be…"

"Deny it all you want," The man caught a flower petal before crushing it, letting her watch its remains blow into the wind. "but deep down, you know the truth: We'll see each other again very soon."

He vanished in a cloud of petals, leaving her alone.

"…It can't be true." Kairi whispered mainly to herself as light began to surround her.

When she opened her eyes, she saw she was back in the tower with Mickey. Kairi, you're back! And you've got a Sound Idea!

"I hope it didn't take too long." Kairi smiled weakly.

Not at all, let's give it a go!

The girl nodded before summoning her keyblade and offering the Sound Idea to the darkness.

The Sound Idea glowed brightly and made a lovely but incomplete song before its power was sent into the score. The darkness around it began to fade but it wasn't strong enough to get rid of it entirely.

Hm? Do we need more Sound Ideas then just the one? Mickey asked.

"Don't worry, Sora and Riku are on it." Kairi assured him. "They'll always be there for me regardless of space, time or distance."

Just as she said that, two more Sound Ideas appeared and joined with Kairi's. The song was completed, now a cheerful, beautiful, romantic waltz that dispelled the darkness.

Mickey gave a gasp in awe. Wow, what powerful magic! You three must have a special connection!

Kairi blushed at hearing that. "Yes, we really do."

Saki gave a trill, reminding her they still had a Nightmare to end.

Kairi, be careful! Mickey urged.

"I will. See you soon, sleepyhead." Kairi smiled before summoning her keyblade and pointing it to the score.

The Nightmare was already on the run, knowing the jig was up.

"I won't let you get away!" Kairi called, soaring after it. She threw her blade before teleporting to it and swinging down on the creature.

It gave a loud screech as the world changed around them. Gravity was back to normal, causing Kairi to fall onto a wing before being flung off in her enemy's panic.

The girl caught herself with a gust of air that acted as a springboard back into the sky. She fired three high-level fire spells in quick succession before throwing her keyblade in a spiral, the final blow.

Kairi smiled as the thunderous music faded and her heart began to slow back to its normal rate.

"Kairi! Thank you so much!"

She turned to see Mickey who was now wide awake. That was back on the desk, waiting for its true master.

"It was nothing." Kairi insisted. "I couldn't have done it without my guys."

"I was wondering," Mickey started, looking a bit sheepish. "how do you get a connection that strong? It makes such powerful magic!"

Kairi thought about it for a moment. "Well… Sora, Riku, and I grew up together but even if we hadn't, I think it'd still feel that way. I like to believe it's our destiny to be together. They're two of the few good things destiny brought to me, besides my friends."

"Well, gee, do you think it could work for me too?"

"I know it will." Kairi laughed softly. She then crossed her arms when she saw two empty buckets waiting at the door. "Wait, aren't you supposed to be doing chores since you're all woken up?"

"Oh! Heh heh…" Mickey smiled nervously, having been caught. "Maybe one or two!"

"You better get to it. I don't think Master Yen Sid's as accepting of lazy bums as I am." Kairi giggled.

The mouse jumped up. "You're right! I gotta go! Thank you again for the help!"

Kairi watched as he left, thinking of Sora and her carefree lifestyle. Riku always had to remind them to stay on task until they could convince him to take a break with them. She couldn't wait to see them again.

She summoned her keyblade and pointed it to the keyhole, awakening the world from slumber.

That made seven keyholes, they were finally done! It was time to wake up and go home. The man from before was probably just trying to scare her into thinking the nightmare would never end. It was time to return to the light, after all.
