Yelena walked toward the woods near the amphitheater shared by the two camps. It was early morning, but she could hear wood being chopped. It was Mattias, the leader of the other camp.
"Mattias? You're up early," Yelena said.
He stopped.
"I wasn't expecting to see you here. Do the young royals have a campfire coming up?"
"Chopping firewood clears my head," he said. "What are you doing out so early?"
"I suppose a walk does the same for me. It's been a while since we've talked."
"We spoke yesterday."
"That was business."
"Shall I join you on your walk?"
