"I don't understand why she never picks up! I try to call her but it always goes to voicemail!" Lavender told her girlfriend. she was a green rabbit with brown patches all over her fur while her girlfriend was a black cat with a white tail.
"maybe she changed her number?" her girlfriend, Anne suggested.
"I think I would have figured that out after four years" Lavender replied, slapping her flip phone shut.
"its just a suggestion" Anne shrugged, adjusting the trim of her coat.
Lavender sighed.
"I'm just worried about Tweak okay?" Lavender said.
"what are you doing?" Kwazii asked, watching Tweak doing something to one of the gups.
"I'm fixing the boosters, they keep jamming" Tweak replied.
suddenly, a phone began ringing.
Tweak groaned, walking over to a bench and snatching an old phone.
"why does she always try to call so much?" Tweak asked herself while looking at the screen.
"who?" Kwazii asked.
"nobody, don't worry about it" Tweak replied, turning the phone off.
Kwazii shrugged as he began leaving the room.
"hey Lav, I think I found something you might want to see" Anne said, walking into the living room.
"aren't you supposed to be leaving soon for another trip?" Lavender asked, brushing back her short hair.
"yeah, but I wanted to try and see if I could help you with contacting Tweak" Anne replied, putting on her coat.
"did you find something?" Lavender questioned, her curiosity caught.
"there's an emergency line for the octonauts team, maybe you could try to contact her that way" Anne explained.
"I'm not going to use an emergency line just for some bad news" Lavender laughed at the suggestion.
"just think about it, okay?" Anne said before lightly kissing her.
"I will" Lavender sighed as her girlfriend left.
"hey Tweak, I've been wondering, whatever happened to your mom?" Shellington asked while sitting down in the HQ.
"I barely talked to her after joining the octonauts and then she seemed to completely cut contact with me two years ago" Tweak explained, leaning against the control panel.
"have you tried contacting her yourself?" Dashi asked from where she was sitting.
"she changed her number or something and I stopped talking to my sister four years ago" Tweak said, clapping her hands against her mouth after realizing what she just said.
"you have a sister?" Dashi asked.
"I meant to say my mom's sister" Tweak replied, moving her hands from her face.
"oh" Dashi said, turning back around to continue what she was doing before.
Lavender sighed, looking back and forth between the computer screen and her phone. she had gotten out the octonauts website where the emergency number was there loud and clear and grabbed her phone.
with a deep breath she turned to the screen.
a single beeping of a button rang through the house.
"no, I shouldn't bother them, she'll contact me when she's ready" Lavender told herself, putting the phone down on the desk.
"wait a second" Tweak said, stopping what she was doing.
"whats wrong?" Kwazii asked, holding out a wrench.
"someone I know always tries to call me at least once a day but I just remembered they haven't in almost a week" Tweak explained, heading over to her bed and grabbing an old phone from under her pillow.
"oh" Kwazii said, putting down the wrench.
Tweak took a deep breath.
"I'm gonna call them" she said, turning on the phone before beginning to leave.
"okay" he shrugged, standing up off the floor.
Lavender was washing the dishes when her phone suddenly rang.
she quickly dried her hands and ran over to her phone.
Lavender almost gasped when she saw the number.
she took a deep breath before answering.
"hello, you've reached Lavender Bunny, who is this?" she calmly said into the phone before putting it on speaker.
"hi Lav, its Tweak, I just got a bit worried that you haven't tried to call me in almost a week. are you doing okay?" Tweak asked from the other side of the call.
"yeah, I just decided to let you call when your ready" Lavender explained, her foot rubbing against the floor.
"oh okay" Tweak said.
"wait!" Lavender jolted up.
"what is it?" Tweak talked into her old phone, leaning against the wall in the hallway.
"I have news I've needed to tell you for a long time" Lavender said through the device.
"your finally married to your girlfriend?" Tweak asked.
"what? no, although I have been considering proposing" Lavender replied.
"knew it, anyways I gotta go-" Tweak was cut off before she could continue.
"moms dead!" Lavender exclaimed.
Tweak froze at the words.
"she died two years ago" Lavender nervously spoke.
"Tweak?" Lavender asked when she didn't respond.
she hung up before heading to the bathroom.
"are you okay?" Barnacles asked, stopping as he walked past.
Tweak shut the door without a word.
she leaned against the sink before dropping to the ground in tears.
Lavender listened for a few more moments after Tweak had hung up on her.
"maybe I shouldn't have told her so suddenly" Lavender told herself.
she shut the phone and put it back on the counter before walking back to the sink, which was still full with water and dishes.
she then continued to wash the dishes.
when she was on the last one, her phone rang again.
Lavender quickly dried her hands and grabbed her phone, surprised once again when she saw the number.
she quickly answered, smiling when she heard her girlfriends voice.
"hey babe, I finally found somewhere with wifi, how's it going?" Anne said through the phone.
"well, I finally got to talk to Tweak but I don't think she reacted very well to the news" Lavender replied.
"why wouldn't she react well to hearing we're getting married?" Anne asked.
"we're not- Anne this is not the time for proposing, especially over the phone" Lavender told her.
"sorry, sorry. what happened?" Anne responded.
"she went quiet and hung up" Lavender explained.
"well that's concerning, but she has plenty of friends to comfort her, she'll be fine" Anne reassured her.
"hey Anne! come on, we're going!" a voice said in the background.
"I have to go, you should probably try calling her" Anne said before hanging up.
Lavender sighed before putting the phone down and going to finish the dishes.
"hey, are you done yet?" Shellington asked, lightly knocking on the bathroom door.
"yeah" Tweak replied, opening the door before walking away.
he decided to shrug off how it looked like she had been crying, she probably just failed making a new gup after spending a few days on it or something.
