Castor's Nightmare
"No! Please! Don't take him!" Castor screamed, fighting against the Peacekeepers holding him back.
"Castor!" Pollux shouted as he was dragged away.
"Pollux!"
The Peacekeepers dropped him and Castor lay there and cried.
His brother was gone.
Castor's eyes flew open as someone shook him awake. His breath was coming in gasps and he felt hands on him, pulling him up so he was leaning against the wall.
"Pollux," he gasped.
"Just breathe," Pollux signed, "I'm here with you. Just breathe."
Castor focused on his breathing until it was back down to a normal rate.
"You okay?" Pollux asked, looking concerned. "You were yelling in your sleep."
"Sorry," Castor said, "Didn't mean to wake you."
"I'm not worried about me," Pollux signed, "What's going on?"
"Bad dream," Castor told him and Pollux gave him a look that clearly said 'obviously'.
"The Peacekeepers took you away," Castor explained, "Made you an Avox."
Understanding dawned on Pollux's face and he wrapped his arms tightly around his brother.
"It's over now," he signed, pulling back, "That was a long time ago. I'm free now and we're together."
"I know," Castor nodded, "Just still think about it sometimes…"
"Me too," Pollux smiled sadly at him, "Worst five years…"
"Yeah, it was," Castor agreed, and then smiled sheepishly at his brother.
"Sorry I woke you," he said again.
"I told you, don't worry about t," Pollux replied. He could see Castor was trying to appear brave. Ever since they'd been reunited, Castor had always been there for him. Been his voice; his rock; the one who helped him relearn how to eat; helped him learn how to not be ashamed of who he was.
Now it was his turn to be there for Cas.
"Move over," he signed, nudging Castor's leg. His brother shifted over and Pollux sat next to him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling Cas close.
"Go back to sleep," he signed one handed, "I'm here."
"Thanks buddy," Castor murmured sleepily, drifting off to the steady beat of his brother's heart.
