Javier placed his week's bag of garbage into the can. Russell's two younger sisters emerged behind him as he returned to the building. 10-year-old Lydia's dark hair was in a pair of ox-horns; 7-year-old Emma's hair was in two simple buns.
Lydia giggled, "Hey, Mr. Javi…"
"Oh, hey girls," Javier casually waved at them. "How is it going?"
"Russell told us what you did with the twins…" Lydia began, fluttering her lashes at him.
Javier's eyes popped open, pausing in his tracks. "Girls–that's grown-up stuff…"
Emma added, "Our gram told us only to have hoochie-coochie when we are married to someone who wants it too!"
Lydia pointed at Javier, giggling, "You did it outside of wedlock!" She pulled out a bell and rang it once, chanting, "Shame."
Javier started to back away, but the girls eerily followed him like ghosts in a hallway.
Lydia rang it again, chanting once more, "Shame."
Lydia did it again for the third time, "Shame."
"Shame, shame, shaaame!" Lydia sweetly and menacingly sang, ringing her bell more. Emma pulled out a tambourine, shaking it with skill. The Jenkins sisters pointed at Javier together, singing, "Shame on yo-o-o-ou!"
Javier cried out, cupping his ears, running straight to his apartment. "Nooo! Leave me aloooone!"
The Jenkins sisters giggled together before falling onto the sidewalk, relishing in their teasing over Javier.
