Santana takes a deep breath and slams her eyes shut. "I'm intersex. I have both female and male parts." She says quietly and quickly, waiting for the worst.
"M'kay." Brittany says, and she turns back around and pulls Santana's arm back around her tight.
"Okay?" Santana asks, thinking there was no way it was that easy.
"Mmhmm. Sleepy time, Sanny." Brittany chuckles softly, intertwining her fingers with Santana's again.
Santana lets out a huge sigh of relief and nuzzles into Brittany's neck. She had almost fallen back to sleep when Brittany speaks again.
"San?" Brittany asks softly.
"Mmm." She replies into Brittany's ear.
"Can you get pregnant?" Brittany whispers curiously.
"Mmhmm." Santana hums.
A few moments later, Brittany asks quietly. "Can you get someone pregnant?"
"Yep." Santana giggles softly.
"I knew you were a magical unicorn." Brittany sighs with a small chuckle.
"You are the unicorn, Brittany Susan Pierce." Santana whispers to the sleeping blonde as she nuzzles her nose into her neck and pulls her tight to her and they both drift back to sleep.
oooOOOooo
Brittany is awoken by the bed shaking just a little as Quinn climbs down the ladder from her bed. She is on her back and Santana has moved completely on top of her so she's a little trapped. She opens her eyes just as Quinn is stepping down to the ground and she meets her eyes between the ladder rungs and gives her a smile.
Quinn comes around to sit down on Santana's bed next to the two girls and whispers, "Good morning, Britt."
"Good morning." Brittany says softly. "Did you sleep well?" She asks as she gently trails her fingers along Santana's back under the duvet.
"I did, but probably not as well as you." Quinn chuckles softly. "It's still really early, do you want to come with me to get breakfast? San will probably sleep for another few hours. We can bring her back something." She says while standing up slowly.
"Yeah, I'd like that, Quinnie." Brittany says quietly. She then ever so gently rolls Santana to her side so she can slip out from under her. She puts Beans into Santana's arms and she instinctively pulls her bunny in tight to her chest. Brittany tucks the duvet up to Santana's chin and gently brushes the hair off her face and tucks it behind her ear with a soft smile. She turns around to Quinn who had started getting dressed and asks, "Do you have a piece of paper so I can leave her a note so she knows where we are if she wakes up before we get back?"
"Of course." Quinn tells her and hands her a notepad and pen from her desk and continues getting ready.
Brittany writes a quick note and leaves it on Santana's pillow next to her head so she won't miss it. "I'm going to go throw some sweats on real quick and then we can go." She tells Quinn as she slips out of their room and down to her room.
She opens her door and she is not surprised to hear Rachel before she sees her as she is doing her vocal warm ups again.
"Hello, Brittany!" Rachel greets her loudly making Brittany wince. "How have you been? I haven't seen you much. Are you excited for classes to finally start tomorrow? I've been making sure my voice is still in top condition so that the professors will know right away that I am the best in the class." She rattles on not even realizing that Brittany isn't paying attention to her.
Brittany pulls on a pair of old black dance team sweats and slips her feet into black Uggs. She swaps her sleep T-shirt to a white Gucci logo Tee and takes her hair down and brushes it out before braiding it quickly. She takes her pill and then goes to open the door and quickly turns back around, realizing that Rachel had been talking to her and says, "See ya later, Rach!", and heads back down the hall. She taps quietly on the door to 201 and Quinn steps out a second later and gently closes the door behind her.
"Ready?" Quinn asks her.
"Yeah. I love your dress but you sure make me look like a bum." Brittany giggles, referring to Quinn's short royal blue floral Prada sundress that she had changed into. They make their way down the hallway to the front stairs.
Quinn scoffs, "Oh please, this dress is a hand-me-down from Frannie and it's like 5 years out of season." She laughs as cross the lobby and out the front door. "I only threw it on because it's comfortable and I'm not fussed about how I look right now. Your shirt on the other hand, I know for a fact hasn't been release yet." Quinn admires, as they make the short walk to the dining hall next door.
"Yeah, my aunts got it for me when they went to the Gucci headquarters last month." Brittany informs Quinn as they enter the thankfully very quiet dining hall as it's only 7:15 in the morning and it's Labor Day. "They both work for Vogue." She says nonchalantly as she heads towards the cereal bar looking for Lucky Charms. She finds her way back to Quinn once she has her cereal and coffee and they find a table next to a large window.
Quinn has a plate of scrambled eggs and about 8 slices of bacon with a cup of tea. Brittany giggles at the absurd amount of bacon on her plate.
"So your aunts work for Vogue, that's really impressive. What do they do there?" Quinn asks before she starts on her bacon pile.
"Well my mom's sister, Grace, she is the head photographer and her fiancé, so I guess not technically my aunt yet, but yeah, her fiancé James, she's the first assistant to the Editor-in-Chief." Brittany says with pride. "They are both really cool."
"That's so awesome. I bet you get all kinds of free clothes from them." She says, trying to hide her jealousy.
Brittany reaches across the table and steals one of Quinn's slices of bacon and says, "I do get a bit from them but mostly they are great shopping buddies." She giggles, "They live right on Madison and East 43rd Street so all the best stores are just a few steps away."
"San's Tia Rosalie lives on 46th and Lexington just few blocks away! She lets us stay with her whenever we want to visit the city. She's a designer for Victoria's Secret." Quinn says excitedly, clasping her hands under her chin.
Brittany squeals, flapping her hands in front of her, "This is so exciting! The three of us will all have to take a trip together on one of our breaks." She tries to contain herself with a deep breath and asks. "Okay, what else do you like to do there besides shopping?"
"Don't you dare tell Santana, she'll think it's so lame, but I love going to the museums. Anytime we are there together, I have to sneak off on my own while she's napping to go visit them." She says shyly.
"I love them, too, Quinnie." Brittany tells her reassuringly. "Don't worry, I won't tell her that you're nerdy, too." She winks. "Museums will be our thing when we go, okay?"
"I'd love that, Britt." She says softly with a grin. "I've never had anyone to share them with. They are just to fascinating." She sighs and then gives Brittany her last piece of bacon. "I bet San will be up soon so we should grab her some food and coffee. I really don't want to deal with Snixx today." Quinn laughs as she puts Brittany's dishes on her tray to take them to dishes drop off.
"I'll get her coffee if you want to get her food, 'Kay?" Brittany tells her with a big smile. She quickly goes to the specialty coffee line and gets Santana's coffee and meets Quinn back at the front doors. Quinn picked up a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and hash browns for her. "Let's go feed the gremlin, thankfully it's not after midnight." She giggles as Quinn laughs with her.
The two blondes walk back to their dorm. Quinn unlocks their door and slowly opens it to a still sleeping Santana. Brittany puts her coffee on Santana's desk and curls up next to her. She gently brushes the hair out of her eyes and tucks it behind her ear. "Sanny, coffee and breakfast." She says softly.
"Mmmm. Coffee." Santana says with a raspy voice and a smile as she slowly opens her eyes. "Hi." She says bringing her hand up to Brittany's cheek. "You're still here." She says with relief.
"Of course I am, San." Brittany giggles. "Quinn and I already ate but we brought you back coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Come on, sit up, sleepyhead." She says as she pulls back the duvet and pulls a limp Santana up. Quinn sits down next to them with Santana's coffee and food in hand.
Santana rests her head on Brittany's shoulder and wraps her arms around her neck and whispers, "I was so afraid I scared you away because of what I told you last night."
Brittany pulls Santana back a little so she can look her in the eyes. "No way. You can't get rid of me that easily. And besides, what makes us different is what makes us interesting, and you, Santana Lopez," she taps her nose, "are very interesting." She says with a smile that lights up her whole face and makes her eyes shine a gorgeous shade of blue.
"Thanks." Santana says meekly and then turns to Quinn. "I told her about…you know." She says looking down at her crotch.
"I knew you'd tell her soon." Quinn smiles and hands Santana her coffee.
"Mmmm, thanks." She says as she takes a sip. "Oh, now that's a perfect iced soy vanilla latte. I'm so glad you know my order, Q."
"That was all Britt. I'm not even going to question how you knew her order, Britt." Quinn laughs, shaking her head. Santana just stares at Brittany as she blindly takes the food Quinn handed her.
Brittany shrugs, "I saw the label on your cup when we crashed into each other at the Accessibilities office."
"That was a few days ago. A tiny label…How could you possibly…" Quinn says with her eyes wide.
"You notice everything like me, right?" Santana says with a wink, tapping Brittany's temple.
"Yep. Brain doesn't know what to filter out." Brittany laughs. "At least you get to benefit from my overactive brain with your perfect coffee." She grins as she lays back down on the bed.
"I do, thanks." Santana says. "What did you two eat?" She asks Brittany and Quinn.
"I had scrambled eggs and a bunch of bacon. I did see a make your own waffle station, but we were too early for it." Quinn tells Santana.
"Oh, I didn't see the waffle station. Guess I was too excited about Lucky Charms, and then some of Quinn's bacon." Brittany chuckles.
"You shared your bacon, Lucy?" Santana squeaks, so surprised.
Quinn shrugs and lets out a laugh, "What? It's Britt, she's sweet." She says as she pats Brittany's leg.
"You're sweet, too, Quinnie." Brittany smiles softly making Quinn blush. Brittany nudges Santana's side to get her attention. "So um, the other morning, when you hid against the wall. Were you…um…?" She asks gently, Quinn hiding her snickers behind her hands.
Santana chokes on her coffee for a second and says, "Yeah, I was hard. But it was your fault!" She lightly smacks Brittany's hip making it harder for Quinn to hide her laughter, "You caught me off guard with your upside-down splits and your tiny rainbow underwear!"
And Quinn looses it with Brittany following right behind her. Thankfully, Santana has finished her coffee and sandwich because she tosses her trash onto the floor and tackles Quinn for laughing at her. "Oh, you thought that was funny, huh?" And she starts tickling her sides. Brittany crawls over and joins Santana in tickling Quinn.
Soon all three of the girls are laughing hysterically and gasping for breath on their backs. Once they finally catch their breath Brittany takes Santana's hand and starts playing with her fingers. "What was it like when you were little?" Brittany asks genuinely.
"Well, they thought I was a boy until I was born and it was pretty obvious as soon as I was born that my genitalia wasn't typical." Santana chuckles slightly as Quinn takes her other hand to show her support. "They did an ultrasound on my abdomen and saw that I have all the female reproductive organs along with testes inside. Outside I look like a normal female but with a penis also. My parents were pretty awesome. They didn't want to just assign a gender to me, they wanted me to tell them when I was old enough, so they gave me a gender neutral name. Sofie, not so much though, but they figured that they could change Diabla to Diablo or whatever I wanted to easily."
"You're parents have always been so amazing. Way better than mine." Quinn sighs.
"Yeah." Santana agrees. "Well by the time I was two and a half I was telling everyone I was a girl and definitely by the time I hit puberty at 11 there was no question because these knockers started popping up." She laughs, cupping her larger than average breasts. "But along with the great boobs came the periods and so that sucks." She groans.
"No kidding." Both Brittany and Quinn groan also.
"Mine should start in a few days which means my ADHD meds won't work as well." Brittany moans.
"Yay, hormones." Santana says sarcastically and Quinn giggles.
"So so fun." Brittany chuckles lightly as she turns towards Santana more and scoots closer and she reaches over Santana to pull Quinn closer, too.
"I didn't even know there was anything out of the ordinary about San until middle school." Quinn starts, "We were each others first real friends in kindergarten. My mother really took advantage of Mami and Papi and she would leave me overnight with them even at five years old." She sighs, closing her eyes. "San and I would take baths together all time when we were little so I knew she didn't look exactly the same as me down there but it never occurred to me that there aren't a ton of other people out there like San. She was just Santana." Quinn swallows hard, trying to not cry.
Santana continues for Quinn, "Middle schoolers are relentless. We were both bullied terribly, Quinn because she was chubby with braces, glasses, and stuck up, neglectful parents and me, well, they all found out about my little friend before I learned about compression underwear." Brittany holds the two girls even tighter. "We stuck together and built up thick walls and bitchy personas. Once we hit high school, we were untouchable. We also never had any other real friends we could trust…"
"…Until you, Britt." Quinn says with a smile. "You twirled your way past our walls as if they never existed. I let you have some of my bacon, for Christ's sake. I have never shared my bacon. Not even with Santana. My bacon is sacred." She says seriously.
"Thank you for sharing your bacon." Brittany giggles, "But you know, you two charmed your way past my walls, too. Like I seriously hate being touched but I love love love hugs from both of you." She says she squeezes them with a little wiggle, squishing Santana between the two blondes.
"Oof, I can't breathe." Santana grunts.
"You're just so little, Sanny." Brittany says patting her cheeks.
"You really are, that's why Sofie calls you Teeny." Quinn snickers, patting her other cheek. "Hey, when's your birthday, Britt? I know you are older than us but you didn't tell us when your birthday is." She says, poking Brittany's cheek.
"Oh! It's March 3rd, 1993. Three is my favorite number since there are three threes in my birthday. Everything great comes in threes." She grins. "Hey! Just like us!" Brittany exclaims, so excited.
"We really are a great trio. Like the Holy Trinity." Quinn says with a smile.
"More like the Unholy Trinity." Santana mumbles.
"The Unholy Trinity. I like that." Brittany muses.
"Well, I say The Unholy Trinity needs to go shopping. Britt, you got me in the mood with all of our shopping talk at breakfast." Quinn says patting both girls legs, encouraging them to get up.
"That's a good idea. Let's see what this tiny ass town has to offer." Chuckles Santana as she gets up and opens up her wardrobe to decide what to wear.
"I'm going to swap out my sweats and put some make up on. I'll be back in a few minutes." Brittany says as she heads towards the door. Just as she opens the door two tan arms wrap around her from behind, give her a tight squeeze and disappear just as quickly. Brittany smiles and turns around as she sees Santana run back to her wardrobe and Quinn shaking her head and smiling.
oooOOOooo
Brittany changes her sweatpants to a long, tiered, brightly colored, patchwork Gucci skirt deciding to stay on brand today, and swaps her Uggs for her brown Docs. She keeps her make up light with a little mascara, eye liner (with a little wing, for good measure) and pale pink lip gloss. She puts a few earrings on in each ear and couple of rings on both hands. She sticks her wallet and keys in one pocket of her skirt and her phone in the other and runs back to Santana and Quinn's room.
Santana has put on a pair of black skinny jeans and was pulling off her sleep shirt when Brittany walks in. Brittany can't help her leering as Santana's firm abs are fully on display but when Santana starts pulling her shirt over her head Brittany realizes that she wasn't wearing a bra under the T-shirt. Brittany swallows hard openly staring in awe at Santana's gorgeous body. When Quinn makes a noise from somewhere in the room, Brittany snaps back to her senses and quickly turns around. She didn't realize that she had not fully closed the door and smacks her head right into it. Hard.
"Godverdomme." (God damn it.) Brittany grumbles under her breath, holding her head in her hands. She can tell she is blushing by the heat coming off her cheeks.
"Britt! Oh my god! Are you okay?" Santana asks as she runs to check on Brittany.
"Yeah, I'm just clumsy." She says as she turns back around, and then she immediately notices Santana is still topless and her face turns bright red. She hides her eyes quickly with her hands and mumbles, "Um, can you put a shirt on, please?"
Santana chuckles and goes to finish getting dressed while Quinn is giggling from her desk. "Britt, you might as well get used to seeing her boobs out all the time, she rarely wears bras at home and when she gets hot, her shirts are off with no warning." Quinn informs Brittany.
"It's true." Santana says as she puts on a strapless purple Armani shirt that gathers over her breasts, skipping a bra completely. "The girls hate being confined." She cups her breasts and then sits down at her desk to put her make up on.
"Oh, I hate bras, too. I only wear sports bras when I work out or dance." Brittany says as she sits down on Santana's bed by her desk. "I'm not shy about changing in front of people, I'm just used to all the girls in the locker rooms hiding from me when they are changing. They all thought I was going to jump them at any moment just because I'm bi." Brittany sighs. "Jokes on them, though, I wouldn't have gone for any of them, my standards are much higher than them." She says confidently, brushing one of her shoulders.
Santana and Quinn burst out laughing. "As you should!" Santana exclaims. "Only the best for you, Britt-Britt." She continues as she puts her lashes on her second eye. "Two seconds and I'll be ready." She swipes mascara on her lashes and fans them dry, "Okay, lets go, Blondies." She says as she jumps up and puts her black Docs on and shoves her wallet, keys, and phone in her jeans pockets and puts a pair of black sunglasses on her head.
"Okay, so the quickest way Uptown is by going up the hill behind the dorm and across College Green." Quinn says as they make their way down the stairs and out the back door.
The back of Perkins Hall faces a large hill with a back road running between the dorm and the hill. They walk a little ways down the road and they meet their neighboring dorm on the right and a huge set of concrete and brick stairs set into the hill on their left. They pause at the bottom of the stairs, three pairs of eyes slowly follow the stairs all the way up to the top, where another red brick dorm with a bell tower sits proudly at the top.
"Well, I'm glad I'm not wearing heels." Quinn chuckles, as she charges forward up the stairs.
Brittany and Santana turn to each other and smile as they seamlessly lock pinkies and start following Quinn's footsteps. They quickly make it to the top of the steps not even out of breath since they are all still in great shape from cheerleading and dance.
Quinn looks back down the hill and muses, "I wonder how many - "
"One hundred and one." Brittany and Santana say simultaneously. "Of course you didn't count the steps." Santana says, rolling her eyes. "I couldn't not count them."
"Same. I was singing 'Barbie World' in my head, too." Brittany giggles.
"Ha! I was singing 'Single Ladies' in mine." Santana laughs and Quinn rolls her eyes at the pair.
"You two are ridiculous." Quinn chuckles as she turns to walk around the dorm that she now sees is Bryan Hall.
"You're the lame one who can't multitask in your head!" Santana yells to Quinn's back. She loops her arm with Brittany's and they follow Quinn around the dorm.
"It must be so boring in her head." Brittany muses and Santana smiles to herself.
The trio crosses College Green, which is basically a bunch of intersecting sidewalks with some grassy areas and a few trees, and pass through the main gates to the school. The gates open up to the main tiny "downtown" section of Athens, except it's called 'uptown" because it's up the hill and north of the campus. Of course university scholars would be so literal.
"I really want to check out all the OU clothes. I want a sweatshirt with a bobcat on it." Brittany says excitedly as she drags the two roommates into the bookstore across the street who just giggle.
They go past the books and to the very green side of the store where Brittany makes a bee line to the sweatshirts. Santana finds a bunch of cheerleading shorts and starts rifling through them while Quinn eyes the sweaters.
"Oh my God! Guys! Look at these shorts! We all need to get them!" Santana shouts to the two blondes as she hold up a green pair of Soffe shorts that have two big white bobcat paw prints on the butt.
Brittany comes over to Santana and says, "Grab me a small, I need these in my life." She says very seriously as Santana hands her a small in the shorts and she turns right back to the sweatshirts, making Santana chuckle.
"I got you a small, too, Q." Santana says handing Quinn a pair of the shorts for her, too, she grabs an extra-small for herself and then she goes to look at the tons of sweatshirts.
Forty-five minutes later and their arms full of clothes, mugs, notebooks, pens, and a bunch of other random things with the OU logo and bobcat mascot the girls finally make it to the registers. Thankfully there are three open registers right beside each other so they don't have to wait in line. They each plop their huge piles onto the counter and the three students working behind the registers let out simultaneous annoyed sighs. They ring up the girls purchases painstakingly slow while the girls get out their credit cards out of their wallets.
Santana sees Brittany pull out her American Express Black card and squeals, completely jarring Quinn.
"What the hell was that ungodly noise, Lopez?" Quinn says exasperated.
"Britt's got an AmEx Black, too!" Santana exclaims. "We were both invited on our eighteenth birthdays so I just got mine a week ago. This is the first time I've really been able to use it." She tells a giggling Brittany, not noticing that the cashiers have completely frozen in shock at the thought of these three clearly freshmen having super exclusive invite only credit cards.
"I was invited on my eighteenth birthday last year, too. I love having access the the first class lounges at the airports. They are always so quiet and it makes it easier for me to be able to handle airports." Brittany says with a little shrug and tiny smile.
"Oh absolutely! I love the concierge services." Quinn says cheerfully as she turns to her cashier who is staring at her just like the other two cashiers are staring at Brittany and Santana. "Did you need something?" She asks him politely.
He shakes his head and clears his throat, "Um, what are you three doing here?" He asks and then says, "Wait, sorry. Why aren't you all at some fancy Ivy League school instead of OU in tiny ass Athens, Ohio?"
Quinn smiles and says, "We all got full scholarships to all the Ivy Leagues but we wanted to stay close to our families. As you can probably tell, we didn't need the scholarships."
"I know I would rather the scholarships go to people who really need them, anyway." Brittany says with a bright smile that just makes Santana's heart melt.
"That's really awesome." Says the cashier ringing up Brittany's purchases.
Their purchases end up all being in the 500 range and they hand their cards over without batting an eye. Then they are handing their purchases in four large bags each and they step back out onto the sidewalk.
"We clearly did not think this through every well." Quinn says as she puts her bags on the nearby bench.
"Fuck! Why the hell can't freshmen have cars?" Santana groans.
"I miss my Sally." Brittany pouts, putting her bags down also.
"Is Sally your car?" Quinn asks gingerly.
"Yeah, she's my baby. I bought her on my sixteenth birthday. She's a pale yellow 1966 Mustang convertible that I had restored and put in a top of the line sound system. She's so beautiful." Brittany sighs.
"Mustang Sally?" Santana perks up.
"Ride, Sally, Ride." Brittany sings with a shimmy.
Santana giggles, "I can't wait for you to ride me in Sally."
Quinn chokes on her own air as Brittany's eyes grow as large as dinner plates and her jaw slowly drops and then snaps shut and she swallows hard.
"I-I-uh." Santana stutters and looks around in a panic, the blush on her face quite visible even with her tan complexion . "Oh. I-um. Oh shit. Th-That's not what I m-meant to say." She drops her bags and hides her face behind her hands. "I'm s-sorry." She mumbles from behind her hands.
Quinn, having regained her composure and her airway, says "God I love watching you gay panic, Santana." She looks over at Brittany who as not moved and seems to be in shock. "Britt, are you ok?" She asks gently putting her hand on Brittany's arm.
Brittany slowly nods and then just as slowly bends to pick up her bags. She then robotically walks to the corner and waits for the signal for the cross walk where she takes several deep breaths.
"I think you broke Brittany." Quinn whispers to Santana, gently pulling her hands away from her face and pointing to the tall blonde at the corner.
"Shit Shit Shit." Santana fumbles and grabs her bags and runs to Brittany who is crossing the street now. "Britt! I'm so sorry!" She yells as she is running across the street, looking ridiculous with her bags bouncing all around, with Quinn and her bags following close behind.
Brittany stops at a bench once she makes it to the green. She drops her bags and sits down hard and buries her face in her hands, trying to take deeps breaths.
"Britt-Britt, I'm sorry." Santana says again as she catches up to her and she drops her bags and squats down in front of Brittany. She gently places her hands on Brittany's knees.
"No, I'm sorry." Brittany's whispers.
"What?" Santana asks softly.
Brittany slowly lifts her head and repeats herself, her face very flush. "I'm sorry. I freaked myself out because I got so turned on by the thought of riding you in Sally." She shakes her head, "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't be thinking that way about my best friend. I'm so sorry." She says, casting her eyes down.
"Hey, hey, look at me." Santana says quietly and Brittany meekly raised her eyes. "It's okay. I thought the same thing, that's exactly why I panicked. So neither of us has anything to be sorry about." She says reassuringly. "We do have to admit that that would be so hot." Santana boasts as Brittany lightly smacks the side of her head. "Hey!"
"You asked for it." Brittany chuckles as Quinn, who had stayed back a bit snickers as well. "That would be really hot, though." She shrugs and picks up her bags and leads the way back towards Bryan Hall.
"She's going to be the death of me." Santana moans to herself as she stands up and picks up her bags. She turns around and Quinn is staring at her. "What?"
"Oh nothing." Quinn says, with a smirk and then follows Brittany.
They make it about half way down the stairs and they all drop their bags and sit down on the closest step.
"Well, at least we aren't going up with all these bags." Quinn says, with a big sigh.
"My arms and legs are killing me." Santana grumbles.
"I can't feel my fingers." Brittany says as she opens and closes her hands gingerly in front of her face. "I was wanting to go to the gym today. Guess I don't need to now."
"Nope. I think we've had enough labor for this Labor Day." Quinn chuckles. "Five minutes and I say we suck it up and get down these stairs and up to our rooms. And then I think we deserve a movie and ice cream."
"I don't think I could even lift a spoon, but I will definitely go for a movie. We can all pile in my bed." Santana says.
"I want movie and snuggles." Brittany giggles. "Up up. Let's move it, ladies." She pulls Santana and Quinn up and picks up her bags and trudges down the remaining stairs with the other two grumbling behind her.
oooOOOooo
Since Brittany made it back to the dorm first she got to pick the movie.
"Miss Congeniality! I love this movie!" Santana exclaims as she collapses onto her bed with her head in Brittany's lap. Brittany immediately starts combing her fingers through Santana's dark locks.
"A few months after this came out in theaters, which my mom totally took me to see in the theater when I was still seven, I had a slumber party with all the girls in my class for my eighth birthday and we watched the Miss USA pageant live the night before my birthday. I made all the girls wear bikinis and we made sashes and I made everyone pick a state. I claimed Texas of course and Miss Texas actually won that year." Brittany tells them as she giggles to herself.
"Aww, so cute." Quinn coos as she sits down next to her on the other side of Santana.
"That is so gay, Britt." Santana snickers.
"Oh definitely! The closet never existed for me." She laughs.
oooOOOooo
"Fuck…me." All three girls breath out as Agent Gracie Hart struts out of the airplane hanger in slow motion after her make over.
"Uh, Quinn?" Santana looks up at Quinn inquisitively.
"What? You both agree with me." Quinn rebuts.
"Yeah, but I'm a lesbian - " Santana says.
"- and I'm bi - " Brittany adds.
"- and you're straight." Santana continues, and then tilts her head and narrows her eyes, "Right?"
Quinn just shrugs says, "She's hot" and turns back to the movie, effectively ending the conversation, leaving Brittany and Santana with more questions than answers.
"That scene was what inspired me to get a Mustang and name her Sally since it was the song Gracie struts out of the hanger to." Brittany whispers.
"So perfect and also so gay." Santana chuckles softly and Brittany nods with a wink.
A little while later, Brittany sighs, "April 25th really is the perfect date."
Quinn eyes Brittany curiously and opens her mouth to explain the question but Santana jumps in and says, "You are absolutely right, Britt-Britt. That is the perfect date." She reaches for Brittany's free hand that is not running through her hair and pulls it tight to her chest.
By the end of the movie all three girls are fast asleep and snuggled up tightly to each other, Brittany in the middle of Santana and Quinn. Santana is curled up to Brittany's side with a leg thrown over her waist and an arm over her chest and Brittany's arm is up the back of Santana's shirt holding her tight. Quinn has her head on Brittany's stomach and she has her arm wrapped around Santana's leg. '
oooOOOooo
Santana wakes up two hours later nuzzling her nose into Brittany's neck and Brittany smiles in her sleep and pulls Santana tighter to her. She slowly raises her head, smiling at how Brittany is smiling in her sleep. She then notices that Quinn is hugging her leg and she snorts quietly to herself. Santana lifts her finger up and ever so gently traces the freckles along Brittany's nose and cheeks, counting them in her head. After a few minutes she feels Brittany slowly running her fingers all the way up and down her back under her shirt and then her eye lids flutter revealing bright blue eyes.
"Hi." Santana whispers.
"Hi." Brittany replies with a soft croaky voice and a big smile.
"I think we are stuck here." Santana chuckles quietly, nodding down to Quinn.
"I'm okay with that. I could stay here forever." Brittany sighs, "Well, at least until I have to pee."
"Or eat." Santana adds, seriously.
"Definitely." Brittany says softly. "I hope our professors have emailed us their syllabuses and notes by now so we can print them off before our classes tomorrow."
"We can check as soon as Quinn lets us up." Santana whispers, propping her head up on her arm. "I know I want to be as prepared as possible and I'm sure you do to."
Brittany nods, "Yeah. I'm so glad we have all but our last class together tomorrow. You have Piano after our Advocacy Comp with Quinn after lunch, right?" She asks.
"Yep and I should finish right before your math class. Do you want me to come pick you up afterwards?" Santana inquires shyly.
"I would love that, Sanny." Brittany whispers as she reaches up and tucks a lock of Santana's hair behind her ear that had fallen into her face.
Brittany meets Santana's soft gaze and they just stare directly into each other's souls, reading each other's innermost thoughts. They have no idea how much time passes while they are drinking each other in or that Quinn had woken up a while ago and was watching the pair with a soft knowing smile. She has no intentions of being the one to break their trance, she leaves that to Santana's phone that starts playing the Sister, Sister theme song some time later.
Santana blinks a few times and then grunts with frustration as she turns to find her phone. "What?" She growls into her phone to her sister as she lays back down and seeing that Quinn is awake now she then turns on the speaker.
"Well hi to you to, Teeny." Sofie snorts.
"Sorry, Hi, Soapie. Quinn and Britt are here, too." Santana says as Quinn crawls up to the head of the bed to join Brittany and Santana.
"Oh! Hi Quinn! Hi Britt!" Sofie exclaims.
"Hi Sofie!" Quinn and Brittany both say cheerfully.
"Are you all ready to start classes tomorrow?" Sofie asks the three girls.
"Britt and I need to check to see if our professors have emailed us their syllabuses and notes yet." Santana informs her sister.
"Oh, Britt, you have accommodations like San and me?" Sofie inquires.
"Yes, she does. She's neurospicy, too." Santana chuckles, tapping Brittany's nose.
"I'm extra spicy. I have the ADHDs and the autisms." Brittany giggles.
"Ha! That means Quinn, you are the odd one out being neurotypical." Sofie says with a soft chuckle. "Who's your advocate, Britt?"
"Her name is Helena Nathans. I really like her." Brittany tells Sofie.
"Oh! She's mine, too. Yeah, she's really chill." Sofie replies just as Brittany's stomach growls loudly.
"Hungry, Britt-Britt?" Santana asks with a snort, rubbing Brittany's stomach.
"Maybe?" Brittany replies with a shrug. "I can't tell."
"Britt, I think your stomach just told you." Quinn says gently with a soft giggle.
"I'm going to let you all go feed Britt and San you should probably eat, too. Let me know how all of your classes go tomorrow." Sofie says.
"No tengo hambre". ("I'm not hungry.") Santana mumbles and then after hearing Sofie's sigh she says, "but I guess we can eat." She shrugs. "We'll call you after our last class tomorrow. 'Kay, Sof?"
"Okay, sounds good, girls. Try to get a good night's sleep, even though I know you won't." Sofie chuckles. "Bye-ee!"
"Bye Sofie!" sings the trio and Santana ends the call. "What do you want for dinner, Britt?" She asks Brittany with a small smile.
"I don't know. Everything is different here." Brittany sighs as she starts spinning her thumb ring.
"Yeah, I know." Santana commiserates. "Okay, if you were at home, what would you eat?"
"Honestly?" Brittany asks and Santana nods. "Dino nuggets kand Lucky Charms. I eat like a five year old." She shrugs with a tight smile. "They are my safe foods right now. I don't think I can eat anything else now. Well I probably could but I'm already starting to get anxious about tomorrow and my stomach is starting to tie up in knots - " Brittany's eyes are darting everywhere and her hands are gripping Santana's duvet tightly. "- and there's going to be so many new people and new noises and what if the professors don't send their notes today and what if I can't pay attention and take notes at the same time and I fail everything again -"
Santana leans up and puts both of her hands on Brittany's face, "Britt-Britt, look at me. Eyes on me." She says calmly as Brittany's eyes find hers. "Hey, there you are. You were spiraling." Santana tells her as she gently rubs her thumbs on her cheekbones trying to relax Brittany while Quinn looks on, feeling helpless. "Take a deep breath, sweetie." Brittany mimics Santana and takes a deep but shuttered breath. "One more." And they both breathe deeply. "Better?" Santana asks gently.
"Yeah, thanks." Brittany exhales, her cheeks blushing slightly.
"You don't need to thank me. So Dino nuggets and Lucky Charms? We can do that." Santana says as she reaches for her phone to text Sofie to see if she can run to the grocery store for them.
"Let's check your email to see if your professors have sent you their notes yet. Your's too, San." Quinn says jumping into action and grabbing her laptop and bringing it back to the bed and putting it in Brittany's lap.
"Sofie is doing a grocery run for us, anything else you want her to pick up that will help you feel more comfortable, Britt?" Santana asks genuinely, nudging Brittany's shoulder, "I'm having her pick up mozzarella sticks and Welch's fruit snacks for me. My safe foods for my five year old palette." She says with a wink.
Brittany logs into her email and is relieved to see emails from all of her professors and a big smile breaks across her face. "Green grapes." She says shyly.
Santana nods with a smile, "I'll ask her to grab two bags. I love green grapes, too. Q? Want Sof to pick up anything for you?" She asks.
"I already sent her my list." Quinn replies as she starts playing Candy Crush Saga on her phone. "You can go ahead and print those off." She says to Brittany, "The printer is already on."
"Okay, thanks. San, I'm printing a copy for you for all of our shared classes." Brittany says.
"Thanks, Britt-Britt." Santana says as she leans over quickly, gives Brittany a kiss on her cheek, and gets up to sit at her desk all in one smooth motion. She has her laptop open and she is logging into her email before Brittany even realizes that she was no longer next to her on the bed.
Brittany keeps her head down towards the computer in her lap but lifts her eyes up to Santana. She's sitting with her eyes glued to her screen but Brittany can see the slight blush across her tan cheeks. Brittany smiles ever so slightly and then continues to print off the notes and syllabuses. She hears that the last one has started printing so she signs out of her email and closes Quinn's laptop and sets it on the bed next to her. Brittany gets up to get the documents from the printer and she starts sorting them, putting Santana's copies in a stack for her. She then takes Santana's stack and turns around to Santana sitting at her desk. She leans down and gives her a hug from behind, putting her notes on her desk. Santana leans her head back into her embrace.
'Feeling better?" Santana says softly, turning her head towards Brittany as she reaches up to hold Brittany's arms that are around her neck.
"Mmhmm." She hums with a small smile. "I'm going to go put all these in my binders." Brittany says quietly, not yet moving but holding Santana tighter.
"Okay, I'll come down to your room once I get these all printed." Santana tells her, rubbing Brittany's arms with her fingers.
"Okay!" Brittany says cheerfully, she kisses Santana's bare shoulder and spins around quickly, grabs her notes and runs out of their room.
Once Brittany is back in her, thankfully empty, room she spreads out her binders on her floor and gets out her markers, glitter gel pens, and printer paper so she can label each binder with the class name in a different color. She hikes her skirt up to her knees before she plops down in the middle of the room. She starts with putting a syllabus and the corresponding first class notes into each binder and then she moves on to creating a cover for the first binder as Santana walks in.
Santana drops down onto the floor next to her admiring Brittany's organization and creative way of labeling. "This is beautiful, Britt." She says referring to the cover Brittany is working on for her General Psychology class. She is using only red but with the markers and glitter pens and her swooping swirling letters, it really is a work of art.
"Thanks." Brittany replies meekly. "Each class will get its own color. It's easier to keep them organized in my head that way." She smiles softly. "You probably think it's silly and childish. Everyone else always did, including my teachers."
"No way. I think it's brilliant and anyone who can't see that is lame." Santana says encouragingly. "Will you help me with mine? I think having my classes color coordinated will help me, too." She asks genuinely.
Brittany flashes her bright sparkling blues at Santana, "Really?" She asks hopefully.
Santana leans over to Brittany's ear and whispers, "Really really" and then she lays her head on her shoulder and watches Brittany draw with intense but calm focus.
Half an hour later, Brittany has all of her binders beautifully labeled and she lines them up in rainbow order, running her finger along their spines with a smile. She turns to Santana and asks, "Do you want yours to look like mine or something different?"
"Like yours. They are so pretty and they make me smile." Santana says with a big smile flashing her dimples.
Brittany pokes her cute dimples and giggles, "I love your dimples. They are so adorable."
"I am not adorable." Santana scoffs indignantly just as they hear someone knocking on the door.
Brittany jumps up to open the door as she quickly retorts, "Yes, you are."
"What is Santana?" Sofie asks from the hallway bearing a few bags of groceries.
"Adorable." Brittany responds matter of factly, reaching to take the bags from Sofie. "You really didn't have to go food shopping for us but thank you so much." Brittany says to Sofie as she sets the bags down and asks quietly, "Can I give you a hug?"
"Of course, Brittany. I'll always take a hug from you." Sofie says with a soft chuckle as Brittany gives her a tight hug. "I was in your same place two years ago, thrown off of my routines and into a new big place. I was really anxious the first few months and I basically lived on my safe foods, so I really get it." She tells Brittany with a gently smile. "Let me give you my number, anytime you need or want me to get anything for you just let me know. Even if you just need someone to talk to that's been there, feel free to call or text, okay? Any friend of Santana's is an honorary little sister to me." Sofie says.
"Thank you," Brittany whispers with a small smile.
"Oh and San, Brittany's right. You are adorable." Sofie says to Santana as she peers around Brittany. "And you left your phone in your room." She snickers as she pulls Santana's phone out of her back pocket and Brittany steps to the side to let her give it to Santana who was still sitting on the floor.
"Oye! Gracias! ("Hey! Thank you!") I was wondering how you got in!" Santana exclaims as Brittany sits back down next to her and gestures to Sofie to join them. Santana instinctively links her right pinky with Brittany's left and she continues to work on Santana's binder covers.
"Yeah, Quinn answered when she saw it was me calling and let me in. I really should just call her from now on when I need in the building." Sofie laughs, "You'd loose your head if it wasn't attached."
"Whatever." Santana scoffs, "You're just as bad. How many sets of car keys have you had to replace?" She asks teasingly, raising her eyebrows.
"It's okay, Sanny." Brittany says, gently squeezing her pinky, "I loose my phone all the time, too. We need to set up location sharing so we can find each other's phones in Find My iPhone. You might need it to find me, also, because I do tend to get lost sometimes too." She smiles at Santana, her eyes twinkling and Santana softly smiles right back at her, forgetting her sister was right there.
"I'll make sure you never get lost." Santana assures Brittany as she squeezes Brittany's pinky right back.
"Britt, how many nuggets do you want and San, when did you eat last?" Sofie asks as she gets up to microwave some nuggets and mozzarella sticks for them to reassure herself that they both have something to eat.
"Nine, please." Brittany says.
Santana says, "No idea." Neither girl breaking their gaze but both chuckling lightly at each others response.
"Three threes." Santana says softly.
Brittany nods and replies, "You last ate when Quinn and I brought you back breakfast around eight."
Sofie just shakes her head to herself and puts the paper plates in the microwave and puts a bag of grapes in Santana's lap. "Eat. Both of you." She says as she pulls out a bag of baby carrots for herself.
Santana snorts, "Yes, mom." And she plucks a grape off the stem and pops it in Brittany's mouth and then giggles when Brittany does the same to her.
The microwave dings and Sofie grabs their food and sets it in front of the giggling pair. Brittany feeds Santana a bite of a nugget and then takes a bite herself. Then Santana feeds Brittany a bite of a mozzarella stick, laughing as cheese pulls into a long string. She bites the stretching cheese to separate it from Brittany and then she eats the rest of the fried cheese stick. The two go back and forth feeding each other while giggling as Sofie just sits back and watches this strange spectacle.
After they finish eating Sofie just has to say something. "Brittany?" She asks gently and Brittany turns to her tilting her head inquisitively. "What the hell have you done to my tough, mean sister?"
"I don't know what you are talking about. She's not tough or mean at all." Brittany says, patting Santana's cheek softly. "She's a squishy squishy marshmallow."
"Britt-Britt, she's not supposed to know that." Santana whines, slightly blushing as Sofie snickers.
"It's okay, Sanny. She's your sister, she's allowed to know that. That's the rule with sisters." Brittany says confidently.
"Okay, fine." Santana sighs, trying to hide her smile, "but no one else, okay?"
"You know Quinn knows you're a softy, too, right?" Brittany chuckles.
"What?! No she doesn't." Santana exclaims.
"Really, San?" Brittany sighs, rolling her eyes. "The three of us fell asleep in a cuddle puddle this afternoon. Trust me, she knows. But she's a big softy, too." She laughs as Santana smiles sweetly, remembering the sweet moments they shared before Quinn woke up.
"Teeny, I really like seeing this side of you. Sweet and gentle looks good on you." Sofie says softly with a big smile showing off her dimples that match Santana's.
Brittany pulls Santana into a side hug. "See, it's okay to show people who you really are."
"It's just so hard to let people see the real me. I don't know why it was so easy with you, Britt-Britt." Santana sighs, melting into Brittany's side when Brittany gently runs her fingers along her back under her shirt.
"Baby steps, San. You're letting Sofie and Quinn see you without even realizing it. It's okay to have your guard up when you don't feel safe yet, I do, too with new people. Well I normally do." Brittany says, scrunching her face up. "I still don't know why I didn't have my guard up with you. Debo haberme sentido seguro contigo al instante." (I must have felt safe with you instantly.) She muses as Santana picks her head up and looks into Brittany's eyes.
"Como si ya nos conociéramos." ("As if we already met.") Santana ponders.
"Como de otra vida o algo así." ("Like in another life or something.") Brittany wonders.
"Okay, ustedes dos me están asustando. Voy a ir ahora antes de que empieces un seance o alguna otra mierda rara." ("Okay, you two are scaring me. I'm going to go now before you start a seance or some other weird shit.") Sofie says as she backs up a little before she stands up.
"Oh, okay." Brittany says, shaking her head to regain her senses, "Thanks again for the Dino nuggets, Lucky Charms and grapes. You really helped calm my anxiety about tomorrow."
"I mean it, any time, Britt. You've got my number, I expect you to use it." Sofie says with a wink.
"I will, I promise." Brittany reassures her. "Do you want us to walk you down?" She asks as both she and Santana get up.
"No, no, it's fine. I know this building like the back of my hand after living here my freshmen year, too." She chuckles.
"Oh! I've been meaning to ask you! What's with the weird piano slash vending machine room? We found it in the middle of the night a couple of nights ago." Santana asks.
"I have no idea but that's my favorite room in Perk." Sofie reminisces, "It makes no sense and I love it." She sighs. "Okay I really should go now. Bueno suerte a los dos." (Good luck to you two.) She says as she gives both the girls a kiss on the cheek. "Buenas noches y dulces sueños." ("Good night and sweet dreams.")
"Gracias, Sofie. Buenas noches." ("Thank you, Sofie. Good night.") Brittany says softly, giving Sofie a hug.
Santana gives Sofie a kiss on her cheek and then a hug and whispers, "Te amo, hermana. Gracias por ser tan maravilloso para Brittany." ("I love you, sis. Thank you for being so wonderful to Brittany.")
"Siempre, Teeny. Te amo, tambien." ("Always, Teeny. I love you, too.") Sofie whispers back as she gives her another squeeze and opens the door, blows them a kiss and closes the door behind her, leaving Santana and Brittany in giggles.
"I'm so glad she is so close." Santana laughs as she goes to sit back down on the floor with Brittany following right behind her.
"Me, too." Brittany sighs, sitting down next to Santana linking her left pinky with Santana's right. "I've always been the big sister looking out for my little sister so it's really nice to have someone looking out for me for a change." She says as she continues working on Santana's binder covers.
"She really is an amazing big sister and I'm so glad she's taken you under her wing, too." Santana says. "She didn't get diagnosed with ADHD until she was 16 which was crazy because it was six years after I was. She was struggling with anxiety through her preteens and her psychologist at the time missed that her anxiety was because of her ADHD and couldn't figure out why the meds for anxiety weren't working." She tells Brittany. "Once she got a new psychologist who actually took in consideration that I have ADHD, she tested her within a week of meeting her. She got a prescription for Ritalin and an IEP set up within a month and her anxiety has drastically reduced." Santana continues, now holding Brittany's hand in her lap with her right hand and drawing shapes on the back of her hand with her left.
"I hate that she had to struggle so much. I, unfortunately know exactly what that's like." Brittany sighs, smiling lightly.
"Her problems with getting a proper diagnosis is part of what made me want to become a psychologist. I also want to help other kids like me and all the other parts of the LGBTQIA community." She says with a soft smile.
"I think that's wonderful, San. I know I don't want any more kids to have to struggle like I did." Brittany says, "and I know that I never had any issues accepting my sexuality, liking boys and girls was no different to me than me having blonde hair and blue eyes, that was just another fact about me, but I know that is definitely not always the case. So I really want to help kids celebrate who they are, whatever that looks like for them." Brittany says hopefully.
Santana kisses the back of Brittany's hand and sighs as she puts her head on her shoulder. "We'll help them Britt-Britt, one kid at a time, together."
"Together." Brittany nods, giving Santana's hand a squeeze and they sit in comfortable silence while Brittany finishes Santana's binder covers.
oooOOOooo
Brittany was laying in her bed staring at the ceiling, her was mind racing and her anxiety running rampant. Rachel had come in with a flurry and had finally settled down and fallen asleep two hours ago, but Brittany knew she wasn't going to be able to at all. Frustrated with herself, she reaches over to her phone.
To Sexy San: cant sleep
To Sexy San: need u
From Sexy San: already at ur door
Brittany grins as she throws her comforter off and quickly dashes to open her door. She grabs Santana's hand and pulls her in and quietly closes the door. She lays back down on her bed and pulls Santana down on top of her and covers them both with her comforter. Santana slides her hands up Brittany's cropped tank, pulling it up all the way, while Brittany runs her hands up the sides of Santana's loose shirt, sliding it up as well. Santana lays down and their bare chests and torsos press together and both girls sigh, completely at peace. Neither realizing that what they both needed was skin to skin contact, they were just acting on instincts. Brittany wraps her arms and legs around Santana and Santana nuzzles her nose into Brittany's neck and they immediately both fall into a dreamless sleep.
