Night approached quicker than I thought. Amelia was in no better state, she got more tired as time went on. I rubbed the sore spot on my arm, feeling it burn and ache. I wonder if something had gotten itself in the wound. Jim nudged me in my side so I stopped bothering the area. We both stood near the captain with Delbert as B.E.N kept watch. "Everyone." She said. "We must state together and, and..." She huffed leaning back and closing her eyes.
"And what? What?" Delbert asked. He took off his glasses from worry and stress. "We must stay together and what?"
She opened her eyes for a moment. "Doctor, you have wonderful eyes." She fell back asleep with a smile.
"She's lost her mind!"
I wanted to laugh from Delbert's response but knew that it wasn't the right time. "Well, you gotta help her." Jim said.
"Dang it, Jim. I'm an astronomer not a doctor. I mean, I am a doctor, but I'm not that kind of doctor. I have a doctorate, it's not the same thing. You can't help people with a doctorate. You just sit there and you're useless!" His hands clenched his head in stress and fear. I went over and patted him on the shoulder.
"It's okay Doc." I said. "It's okay." Jim walked over to the entrance of the place as B.E.N came over. I stood up and walked to the entrance to look out at the night sky.
"Yeah Doc!" The robot said. "Jimmy and Emmie know exactly how to get out of this. It's just, it's just they have this knowledge of things." He walked over to us and leaned in close. "Guys, any thoughts at all?"
I looked at the shape of the Legacy, clear as crystal against one of the bright green rings of the planet. "Without the map, we're dead." I said. I glanced at Jim and saw him looking down. My gaze followed his direction to see a fire in the distance.
"If we try to leave, we're dead." Jim said. He turned away to think. "If we stay here..."
"We're dead!" Morph mimicked. "We're dead! We're dead!" Jim sighed and turned to look back outside.
"We need to sneak out." I mumbled. I saw the brunette boy giving me a look that screamed, 'How?'
"Well, I think that both Jimmy and Emmie could use a little quiet time. So I'll just slip out the back door." B.E.N said. We both turned around and looked at him.
"Back door?" We repeated. Jim sounded surprised while I sounded a little smug. I gave him a look that answered that question. We both saw him pushing a sphere in his home, on the other end was a hole with light shining. We went over to help him.
"Oh yeah, I get this delightful breeze through here, which I think is important. Because ventilation among friends..." He rambled. We both looked through the hole and pipes, walkways, and blinking lights in the depths of the planet.
"Whoa." Jim said. "What is all this stuff?"
"You mean the miles and miles of machinery that run through the entire course of the inside of this planet? Not a clue."
I gave him a look. "If you didn't have a clue then why did you answer?"
"I knew?"
I sighed and hopped on the edge. "Whoa, hang on a second." Jim said, grabbing my shoulder. "You're not going." I got confused. When does he act like he's responsible for me?
"Why not?" I asked.
"Your arm! It's injured, you should stay here with the doctor and captain."
"I'll be fine. If I can survive a supernova and a longboat crash, then I can handle this." I gave him a look that begged him to let me go. He sighed and let my shoulder go.
"Nothing I say will change your mind will it?"
"Nope."
"Fine, just don't leave a trail. Hey Doc! Doc! I think we found a way out of here!" He climbed up and stood across from me.
"No, no, Jim, Emma, wait." Delbert said. "The captain ordered us to stay—"
"We'll be back." I said. Jim jumped down first then I followed him, with Morph zooming behind us.
"Cannonball!" B.E.N yelled as he jumped in after us. We walked through the walkways until we came across a hatch. Jim carefully opened it, allowing us to peek out. I heard snores and saw the pirates sleeping around the campfire. "So what's the plan?"
Jim shushed him. "B.E.N quiet." He whispered as he clamped his mouth shut. I cringed when B.E.N spoke loudly and saw Silver turning in his sleep. "Okay here it is. We sneak back to the Legacy, disable the laser cannons, and bring back the map."
"That's a good plan. I like that plan. The only thing is I'm wondering, how do we get there?" His voice was muffled due to Jim keeping it closed.
"On that." I whispered, pointing to the longboat floating above their camp. We quietly got out of the hatch and untied the boat. We walked until we knew the pirates wouldn't hear the noise and started the engine once everyone was aboard. We floated through the sky until we came to the port of the ship. Jim peeked up to see if anyone was there. The rest of us followed suit and saw no one. We all hopped over the ledge, with B.E.N screaming as he fell down.
"B.E.N!" I whispered before we shushed him.
"Sorry." He whispered in response. "Sorry, sorry." We slowly walked to the stairs leading down into the boat, all of us making sure we were in the clear before descending. Jim was in front, me in the middle and B.E.N in the back with Morph floating near me. We slowly crept down the stairs.
"Okay, Emma and I'll get the map." Jim whispered. "You wait here."
"Roger, Jimmy." The robot said. "I'll neutralize laser cannons, sir!"
"Wait no, B.E.N! B.E.N!"
He didn't listen to him. He hoped on his knees and rolled away, singing a tune. I just watched him roll until he was out of sight. I shrugged when Jim sighed. "It won't hurt for him to do that." I whispered as we started walking to where the longboats were stored. I motioned for the two to follow me as we entered the room. I lead them to where Silver and I tried to get the map from Morph. Jim got on his knees and searched through the rope, coming across the golden sphere. We both sighed in relief as he picked it up.
"Yes." He mumbled. I covered my ears hearing the alarm go off suddenly. My heart leapt into my throat as I started following Jim back to the deck. "That stupid robot's gonna get us all—" He stopped midway up the stairs, making me bump into him. I looked behind him and felt blood drain from my face.
"Killed?" I asked. Scroop stood at the other end of the stairs, with a claw out. There's no one around to stop him from murdering us, and he had every intention of doing that. The way he stood there with a creepy smile made a chill run down my spine.
"Cabin kids." He hissed.
We both gasped. Jim pushed me ahead of him, placing himself as a barrier between me and the spider. I took off running as fast as my legs could carry me. I glanced behind me to see Jim knock some barrels over to stall him. "Don't look back!" He said. I turned around and kept running. I heard some more noises from Morph and Scroop when the latter came close to us. I saw the pipes above me move as something was zooming through them. Jim grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a corner.
He pulled the gun out and turned it on. "Stay here, got it." He said. I nodded as he stepped out of the hiding spot and pointed the pistol at him. Scroop stood there, scared for a second until the lights went off. That made my blood run cold. He can easily kill us in the dark! As quickly as they went out, they came back on. The red emergency lights casted an eerie glow onto an already tense situation. I peeked out to see Jim look around in confusion. He looked around trying to see Scroop. I saw something move above him and looked up. I opened my mouth to tell Jim that the spider was above him but no sound came out. I was too afraid to make a noise. That's when Morph came out of the pipe.
He screamed when he saw him and turned into a hand. The hand had two fingers poking out and he jabbed him in the eye. Scroop howled in pain, making Jim look up. Scroop use his claw to swat Jim to the ground, knocking the pistol from his hand. Before Jim could get up, he jumped on top of him, with a claw out to kill. The boy used his hands to push it back but it was getting closer to his throat. "NO!" I yelled as I ran towards him.
"Get back!" Jim yelled. I didn't listen and used a barrel as more gain to jump onto Scroop. I wrapped an arm around him and used my free hand to tug on his hair. Scroop screamed in pain.
"Get off Jim!" I yelled as he wobbled away from him. He used a claw to grab me by the back of my shirt. He threw me at Jim, who had stood up. We both tumbled to the ground as he loomed over us.
"Should've known that siblings look out for each other." He said. He jumped on us, with his claws out. We both grabbed one and tried to push it away. That's when I got a weird feeling in my stomach. The ground wasn't underneath me and I saw everything that wasn't nailed down to the ground floating too. Jim kicked him away from us, making him fly to the roof. He crashed into the grate, breaking it. He floated through the hole in the roof with us following him. We tried to grab a hold of the edge of the grate but the lack of gravity wasn't in our favor.
We continued flying upwards, almost getting scratched by Scroop. Jim bumped into the bottom of the crow's nest, crashing into me. I grabbed a hold of his ankle before I drifted away. He grabbed the pirate flag and held onto it tight. "Are you okay?" Jim asked.
"I'm fine." I said, feeling anything but. "Did he get you?"
"Sorta."
We both gasped seeing him climb up the mast. The pistol floated near Jim. He tried to grab it but it was out of his reach. When it came close to me, I tried grabbing it. The tip of my middle finger touched it before it flew away. I gulped, feeling a lump in my throat. We both looked down and saw Scroop using his claw to saw the rope in half. "Oh yes, do say hello to Mr. Arrow." He said.
Jim climbed down the flag, and held onto the mast. Scroop let out a battle cry as he lunged at us. "Tell him yourself!" The boy said as he jumped away. I kicked Scroop towards the flag, watching him get caught in the cloth. The rope snapped free from the force. The spider ripped the cloth and saw us getting smaller as he drifted away. He screamed when he realized that this was it for him. I watched him float away until I couldn't see nor hear him anymore, feeling spooked. Of all the Disney villain deaths, his scares me the most. While most villains fall to their deaths he flys to his, making it a very scary one. Gravity kicked in and we both fell, with Jim as my cushion.
"Sorry." I said as I got off him. We both looked at the sky until he heard rumbling from the pipe near by. We both looked and saw Morph zoom out, covered in soot and ash. The blob coughed the toxins from his lungs.
"Morph?" Jim said. The blob chittered in response. The boy looked at me. "What did he mean when he said that siblings look out for each other? Emma, tell me."
I gasped as I remembered something. "The night after the supernova. I went looking around to find proof it was sabotage that took Mr. Arrow." I said. "I was right, it was sabotage. I meant to tell you but certain events rose. Anyway, he caught me and said something about how a dude would hate that I was back. He dropped something as he walked off."
"What was it?"
"A small pink blanket. It felt familiar to me. I don't know why."
His eyes widened. He was about to ask another question but a new voice spoke. We both looked down to see B.E.N, covered in wire and smoking. He even had sparks flowing from the wires in his head. "Laser cannons disconnected, Captain Jimmy sir! Gee, that wasn't so tough." Jim looked back at me.
"Where's the blanket?" He asked. I took them back to the sleeping quarters and found my jacket besides my hammock. I pulled the blanket out of the pocket and handed it to Jim. His face paled and his eyes widened, it was like he saw a ghost. "W-Where did he get this?" He asked as he took the blanket. "This blanket, it was my sister's..." He looked at the letters sewn into it, and his mouth dropped. "You said that you were left at an orphanage when you were a baby right?"
"Yeah?" I said.
"And my sister vanished twelve years ago." He looked at me, with tears in his eyes. "Emma, I think... I think you're my sister."
"I KNEW IT!" B.E.N said as I gasped in disbelief.
