Back in Virginia, the atmosphere in the war room was tense, heavy. The low lights and near-solemn silence created an aura that foreshadowed something dark. Bravo and the brothers were in their places, faces taut and glances uneasy. Davis and Mandy stood at the front, and it was Davis who broke the silence, holding up a tablet.
"I just received this," Davis announced, his voice steady, but a shadow of doubt and worry showed in his eyes, hard to conceal.
Mandy nodded, looking at everyone with a warning expression.
"I haven't seen the contents," she said. "I only know the sender is Keldysh. So brace yourselves."
With those words, Mandy tapped the screen and projected the video on the wall of the war room.
Keldysh appeared first on the screen. His face, both calm and twisted, wore the same look of scorn and arrogance they all remembered. In a cold, calculated voice, he spoke directly to the camera.
"Boy," he began in a tone that was almost mocking, "I hope you can see this. Because I want you to understand just how far I'm willing to go to make you pay for what you did to me. A little bird told me you brought some friends, even though I told you to come alone. Guess who I'm with?"
With a slight shift, Keldysh stepped aside, and in the background, Chayo appeared. The sight was a blow to Denahi and Bravo team, who held their breath at the sight of her, dressed in an elegant, toga-style black dress. Though her posture was firm, her face showed a mixture of pain and resignation. With delicate makeup that highlighted her eyes and a high ponytail that accentuated her strong features, Chayo radiated a dignity that contrasted with the cruelty of the situation.
Denahi leaned forward, tense, his hands clenched into fists on the table.
"Chayo…" he murmured, barely audible, with a mix of pain and despair in his eyes.
"Well, darling, a few words for your husband before we start."
On the screen, Chayo inhaled with difficulty, then, with a steady voice, began to speak.
"Denahi… if you're watching this, I ask you to forgive me." She paused, trying to keep her composure, though her voice began to break. "You're the only man I love, and you know me better than anyone. You know I would never betray you or cheat on you with anyone."
Bravo watched in silence, the weight of Chayo's words falling on them like a heavy stone. Sonny, Full-Metal, and the others exchanged glances filled with rage and sorrow; none could take their eyes off the screen, watching as Chayo's face, always strong, now reflected a vulnerability they had never seen before.
"But better me than the girls." Chayo managed a faint smile, barely a trace of strength in her pain, before anguish betrayed her and her eyes filled with tears. "I love you, Flaquito."
The pain was palpable, tangible, in every broken word that escaped her lips. Denahi's eyes filled with restrained tears, his hands trembled, and Jason, beside him, gripped his friend's shoulder, a silent gesture of support.
Then, Keldysh's tone shifted. Without any hint of humanity, in a cruel and despicable tone, he began to speak while moving closer to Chayo, mocking her resistance. Keldysh stroked her face as if claiming something that was never his, and Chayo barely managed to stay standing, her shoulders shaking with the effort to preserve her dignity.
"So, Denahi, watch. I want you to feel this. To see how those you love most pay for your actions. Let's see now how good of a mother she is, taking the place of your daughters." Keldysh proceeded to slap her butt cheek, maintaining his grip, while Chayo whimpered in discomfort and fear. "It's a pity, really; your eldest daughter would have been... a more exotic delicacy."
As he finished his sentence, Keldysh grabbed Chayo by the arms and threw her onto the cot. Only to get on top of her and begin his vile act.
"Enjoy the show, boy."
Bravo and the brothers watched, unable to bear the scene but also unable to look away. When Keldysh finished indulging his lust, the video cut off, leaving a suffocating, heavy silence in the room. The rage in the eyes of the Bravo team was incandescent. Ray stared at the floor, jaw clenched; Clay's fists were so tight his knuckles had turned white; and Sonny's eyes were filled with restrained fury, unable to process the brutality of what they had just witnessed.
Denahi, for his part, lowered his head, breathing in gasps, as the weight of helplessness settled on his shoulders. Then, he took a deep breath, his eyes clouded with rage and sorrow.
"He won't get away with this," he whispered, his voice, broken at first, gaining strength. "This is personal now, and we're going to bring him to justice."
Jason nodded, his eyes filled with determination.
"We're going to find him, Denahi. Nothing that bastard can do will stop us. Bravo's with you, to the end."
And with those words, the Bravo team, Denahi, and his brothers united in a single mission, with a shared promise and the heart of each one burning with relentless fury.
...
Returning to the girls, a few hours had passed that felt like an eternity since they'd been separated from their mother. Meztli and Aleu remained huddled together without speaking a word. The room's atmosphere was tense, the only light coming from a dim bedside lamp.
Just then, the door swung open abruptly, startling the girls, but the worst was what stood before them: Keldysh, holding Chayo by the arm, barefoot and with mascara running down her face from hours of crying. With a rough motion, Keldysh threw her to the ground in front of her daughters, who reacted in different ways. Aleu froze once again, horrified by her mother's appearance, tears springing to her eyes. Meztli, on the other hand, felt anger and pain take over her. On impulse, she lunged at Keldysh, grabbing his shirt.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO MY MOTHER?!"
Keldysh looked at Meztli with a mixture of disdain and satisfaction, as if her reaction was exactly what he'd hoped for. The teenager held him tightly, her eyes blazing with rage, her grip trembling with helplessness. He simply looked at her, a mocking smile spreading across his lips.
"What did I do?" he repeated with feigned surprise, looking at Meztli with cruel amusement. "Oh, little warrior, everything you see is just the beginning."
With a shove, Keldysh made Meztli stumble backward, landing beside her mother. Chayo, weak and exhausted, managed to wrap an arm around her protectively, drawing her close while glaring at Keldysh with a mixture of pain and contempt. The tear streaks on her face and smudged mascara made it clear she had endured much, but a spark of strength remained in her gaze.
"You know, young lady," Keldysh said coldly, watching as both daughters clung to their mother, "if your father had thought about the consequences, none of this would be happening. But this is how he learns, watching what he loves most crumble in his hands. It's the price everyone pays."
Aleu, who was still silent, swallowed hard, trying to understand what was happening and seeking courage in her mother's embrace. Chayo, with visible effort, stroked Aleu's hair and whispered, her voice broken but soft.
"We'll be alright, girls. No matter what he says…" she murmured, trying to comfort them. "We're stronger than he is."
Keldysh let out a dry, cruel laugh, interrupting the moment.
"Yes, repeat those words as many times as you like," he said, crossing his arms and watching with cold indifference. "But remember, G.I. Jane, you're in my hands now. And that means I control you, your daughters… and everything you once considered yours."
The weight of his words fell like a stone, and Chayo pressed her lips together, feeling a powerless rage. Meztli raised her head and looked at Keldysh defiantly.
"You don't know us," she said with a trembling but firm voice. "You don't know my mother or us. You don't know what we're capable of. My dad will come for us… and you'll regret it."
Keldysh seemed even more amused by Meztli's words. He leaned toward her, observing her with an unsettling intensity.
"Maybe your dad will come," he whispered, "but when he arrives, he'll see how everything he loved has been broken. That's what true revenge is."
With one last look of disdain, Keldysh turned and left the room, closing the door with a sharp slam that echoed in the minds of all three. The girls remained silent, fear and helplessness gripping their hearts.
Chayo took a deep breath, trying to pull herself together. Her arms wrapped around Aleu and Meztli, drawing them close in a warm, protective embrace.
"Don't let that man's words hurt you," she whispered, with a firmness she struggled to find amidst the pain. "He doesn't understand love; he doesn't understand the strength of family. We're going to get through this… together."
Meztli nodded, wiping her tears and hugging her mother with renewed determination. Though fear was still there, her mother's words and embrace gave her the strength she needed.
Aleu, for her part, remained silent, but a spark of courage lit up in her gaze. Though she was scared, her mother's presence and her sister's embrace gave her a little hope, a certainty that, no matter what, they would be stronger together.
However, the echo of Keldysh's words and the cold look with which he had thrown their mother to the floor lingered in their minds—a cruel reminder that there was still much more to face.
