Kohaku led Senku and Kurithrough the forest, the dense canopy of trees opening up as they approached the edge of a sprawling settlement nestled by a glistening river. Ishigami Village buzzed with life; villagers moved in and out of thatched huts, children played near the water, and smoke curled lazily from communal fires.

"This is our Village," Kohaku announced proudly, glancing at Senku with that same adoring gaze that hadn't left her eyes since he had saved her.

Senku smirked, his mind already racing with possibilities for what this new discovery could mean for their quest to revive civilization. But before he could comment, a young man with wild hair and bright eyes stepped forward, holding a bundle of dried herbs and odd rocks in his hands.

"You must be the outsiders Kohaku mentioned," the young man said, excitement tinging his voice. "I'm Chrome, the sorcerer of this village!"

Senku's brow lifted, intrigued. "A sorcerer, huh? This should be good."

Chrome's grin widened, and with a flourish, he tossed the bundle of herbs into the fire. A burst of green and blue flames roared to life, dancing in unnatural hues that drew gasps from the gathered villagers. Chrome's chest puffed with pride, his eyes scanning for the awe he expected to see in Senku's expression.

But before Senku could respond, Kuri stepped forward. She raised her hand, and the flames shifted, twisting and curling through the air like a living serpent. The fire wrapped around her body, casting an otherworldly glow over her face as she spun it with an effortless grace.

Chrome's jaw dropped, eyes wide with shock. "W-what kind of sorcery is this?" he stammered, his voice a mix of wonder and disbelief.

Senku's eyes were locked on Kuri, his analytical mind racing. The sight was as breathtaking as it was enticing. "How did you do that?" he demanded, curiosity overriding any other thoughts.

Kuri lowered her hand, letting the fire settle back into the pit as if nothing had happened. She turned to Senku, a teasing smile on her lips. "It's elemental control. You can learn it too, Senku. You already have the intuition; it just takes practice."

His eyes narrowed thoughtfully, a glint of excitement flickering in their depths. "Then I guess I'll have to learn fast."

Before the moment could deepen further, Chrome cleared his throat, trying to regain his composure. "Well, magic tricks aside, I have a collection of rare minerals and herbs. But it's not for just anyone!" His eyes narrowed playfully at Senku. "Only if you can beat me in a contest of wits."

Senku's grin widened. "A contest? You're on. Let's see if you can keep up with me in math."

They gathered around a small table, the villagers murmuring as the competition began. Chrome tossed out a series of equations, but Senku answered each one with lightning speed, barely breaking a sweat. It wasn't long before Chrome's forehead glistened with sweat, his answers growing more hesitant until, finally, he threw up his hands in defeat.

"You win, outsider. My hoard is yours," Chrome said, though there was no bitterness in his voice—only awe.

Kuri, who had been watching with a bemused smile, clapped her hands. "Well done, Senku. I'd have been lost after the first question. I can barely count past ten," she admitted, a sheepish grin spreading across her face.

Senku blinked, then laughed, the tension easing from his shoulders. "So you do have a weakness. Good to know."

She playfully elbowed him, and before he could respond, she gathered some of the plants from Chrome's stash and disappeared into the woods.

"Wait, what is she doing with my collection?" Chrome's voice cracked with panic. He bolted after her, followed by Senku and the others. When they caught up, they found Kuri kneeling on the forest floor, arranging the plants into neat rows. With a whispered incantation, the earth beneath them shifted, and the plants began to sprout, their leaves stretching toward the sky as if reaching for the sun.

She turned to Senku, her eyes warm and inviting. "Come, Senku. Help it grow."

He hesitated for only a moment before joining her, his fingers brushing hers as he mimicked her movements. The energy crackled between them, the plants responding as if they could feel the union of science and magic.

Senku's breath caught as Kuri's face came close to his, their eyes meeting. The air between them felt charged, and for a brief second, the world around them faded. He could feel his pulse quicken, her presence stirring something unfamiliar and electric in him.

Before anything could happen, Chrome, who had been watching with wide eyes, blurted out, "I need to know how you're doing that! And—and I need your help. I've been collecting all these plants to find a way to heal Ruri, my sister. She's been sick for too long, and I can't do it alone."

Senku's focus snapped back to reality, the mention of Ruri igniting his scientific drive. He turned to Chrome, determination sparking in his eyes. "Then we're going to help you save her. Science and sorcery combined—we'll find a way."
