Ch 114 The Day of Awakening
Helena, Steven, and Gardevoir quickly ran down the corridor where Team Magma went. "Helena," Steven called out to the black-haired Woman.
"Steven, we have to catch up with Maxie before-" Helena felt Steven grabbing her hand, prompting her to turn around and face him.
Gardevoir halted, standing on the sidelines while the two talked for a bit. "Gardevoir…"
Steven huffs and looks at his Fiancée in the eyes. "Helena, I know you're worried but try and relax." He said to her, "You're pushing yourself too hard,"
Helena turns her Head to the corridor, "But-"
"Helena listen, if we go ahead without a cool head, things will get difficult," Steven spoke to his Fiancée, "You know this, Helena. What made you forget all about that?" He asked, seeing that Helena was not acting her usual self,
The Ability User took the moment to take a deep breath before calming down. Helena sighed, looking up at Steven, thankful that he was able to set her mind at ease. "I-I'm sorry, there were a lot of things going on in my mind," Helena said, apologizing to her Husband-to-be, "It's just…"
"Been hectic? I understand that, Ellie." Steven said, having a fair share of hectic moments at the Pokemon League and the Devon Corporation. "I've experienced a lot of those, did you forget who I am?" He asked,
Helena nodded, fully aware that she wasn't the only one who had it rough. "Steven, I didn't mean it that way."
Steven smiled, fully understanding what the young Professor was going through. "I know, the important thing to deal with these types of situations is to keep a calm mind." The Steel-blue haired Champion added, reminding Helena what she'd forgotten.
Helena nodded, keeping calm just like what she learned from Adam and the Trainer School taught her. After calming down, Gardevoir approached her,
"Gardevoir…" The Embrace Pokemon looked at her Partner and her Fiancé,
The black-haired Professor looked at Gardevoir, nodding to her. "I'm fine, Gardevoir, thank you." Helena looked back at Steven, mentally ready to stop Team Magma. "Alright, I'm ready to continue Steven." She said to him,
Steven nodded, hearing what the young Professor said. "Alight, then let's get going." He said, hearing some footsteps running down the corridor behind them. "And seems like we're going to have a Guest here."
Both Gardevoir and Helena turn around and see a familiar Person coming to them. Emerging from the shadows was Brendan, huffing in trying to catch up with them.
Brendan paused, seeing that Steven, Helena, and Gardevoir were standing before him. "Professor Potter, Steven!" The young trainer approaches the Adults and the Duel-type Pokemon.
"Brendan, weren't you supposed to be with N and the others back at the other Cavern?" Helena asked the young Pokemon trainer before her.
"You two seemed you needed some backup, N and Paulo have it covered with the Team Aqua Grunts already arriving at the scene," Brendan explains to the two, wanting to help them in any way possible. "Hoenn is my Home too, I want to protect it just as you two do." The brown-haired trainer said, determined to help.
Gardevoir could feel how determined Brendan is from his emotions. "Gardevoir," She supported the young Boy's decision.
Helena understood what her Partner was saying. "Alrighty then, Brendan if you really want to help us then you have to be prepared for a difficult Battle ahead." She advises the young Pokemon trainer, allowing him to join them.
Brendan nodded, still not wavering from the difficult challenge, ready for what was to come. "I'm ready Professor," He said, showing his Mega Bracelet around his wrist.
With that set, Helena, Steven, and Brendan quickly continued down the corridor, hoping they weren't too late.
Inner Chamber
Within the inner Chamber of the Cavern, Maxie, Tabitha and the Grunts stood before a room filled with Seawater and Magma,
Magma poured from the walls and into the Water below.
The entire Chamber was large, Team Magma Grunts was on a patch of rock surrounded by Magma. "Finally, after much planning and preparation, we're finally here." Maxie stepped forward, looking at the sight before him.
Before the entire group was one stone Statue. The Statue was a large Bipedal Lizard-like Pokemon, surrounded by Magma and Water.
His skin was covered in a Stoney substance indicating they were hibernating for a long time.
Maxie stepped forward, the Red Orb was glowing brighter than before. Especially when it was near the slumbering Legendary Pokemon.
His eyes drew over to Groudon, heading over to him. "At long last, the time has come for the Prosperity of Hoenn and Humanity is looming over us," Maxie said, reaching out the Red Orb towards Groudon only to leap back,
A powerful stream of Water burst through from the side, aiming right for Maxie more specifically, the Red Orb.
"Leader Maxie!" The Grunts quickly came to their Leader's side, checking if he was alright. "Are you alright?" One of the Grunts asked, coming to the red-haired Man.
Tabitha steps forward, checking over the Man he admired. "Did you get hit, Leader Maxie?" He asked,
"Yes, yes, I'm alright." Maxie brushed off the dirt that got on him. He turns to his right-hand Man as he takes out his Partner's Pokeball, "Tabitha, it seems we have an uninvited Guest here with us." Maxie said to the large Man beside him.
A giant splash appeared before them, revealing a familiar sight. "Sharpedo!" The Water/Dark-type exclaims, breaking through the surface of the Water.
Leaping from the back of the Brutal Pokemon, Archie walks forward, confronting his Rival. "What's with that face, Maxwell? You didn't expect that I would just sit back and let you have your way now, right?" The dark-haired Man asked with his Partner ready to Attack giving any notice.
"If I'm being honest, I was expecting that you would show up," Maxie stated, looking at the Leader of Team Aqua. "That is who you are, a foolish Man who wouldn't think twice about doing something." The red-haired Man said, knowing him very well,
Archie chuckles, crossing his arms at his Childhood Rival. "Heh, you know me best." The dark-haired Man said, looking at the Leader of Team Magma. "You should know that I'm a petty Person. If I can have what I want, then you shouldn't have it too."
"Petty is the perfect word to describe you, Archibald," Maxie commented, taking out his Pokeball to defend himself,
"Leader Maxie, we'll handle this!" The Grunts came together, releasing their Pokemon to Battle the Leader of Team Aqua.
They sent out two Mightyenas, a Koffing, and two Numels. They all growl at the single Opponent.
Archie looks around, seeing that he's outnumbered. "Well, Six to one…" The dark-haired grins, excited to see the many Pokemon and Grunts before him. "I like these odds! Sharpedo!" He called forth his Pokemon,
"Sharpedo!" Sharpedo leaps from the Water and into the air. His Mega Stone shines in the light of the Magma around.
Archie grabs hold of his chained Mega Chain, and his Key Stone reacts to his action. "All right, wash them away, Sharpedo!" He removes it before aiming his keystone at his Partner,
The Sharpedonite around Sharpedo began to glow. The light from both the Keystone and Mega Stone connected, causing the Water/Dark-type's Body to glow.
"Sharpedo!" Sharpedo raises his head as his power and Bode begins to react to the light.
His face elongated with sharp teeth-like edges, his body grew larger, and additional yellow patterns on his skin. The light disburses, and the Mega Evolution Symbol appears before the Brutal Pokemon.
Archie grins, raising his hand at his Partner after Mega Evolving. "Right on, Sharpedo go on and use Aqua Jet!" The dark-haired Man cried out to his Partner.
"Sharpedo!" Water circles around him; he immediately dashes creating a stream of Water.
"Attack!" Every Team Magma Grunt ordered their Pokemon to Attack, countering the incoming Attack.
The Water/Dark-type Pokemon hurls through the air, blasting through the many Attacks made by the Grunts' Pokemon. He then raced toward the Horde of Team Magma's Pokemon, colliding with them as they were sent flying back.
The impact was so great that it knocked the Grunts off from their feet. "Ngh! How can this be? We have the numbers, why we didn't defeat him!?" A Grunt asked, turning to Tabitha who explained things to them.
"That's because Team Aqua's Leader is very experienced in Pokemon Battles," Tabitha explains to the Grunts, having his Pokeball in his hand. "I'll handle-"
"No, Tabitha. I'll handle Archibald," Maxie steps forward, his Pokeball ready to be tossed, and releases his Partner.
Archie chuckles, seeing something he hasn't seen for a long time. "Well, well, it's been some time since you last had a Pokemon Battle, Maxie." The dark-haired Man commented, "Are you sure you can handle your first Batte after all this time?" He asked his Rival,
Maxie gave Archie an emotionless expression towards the dark-haired Man, "It may be a long time since I've engaged in a Pokemon Battle." He raises his Pokeball, tossing it before Sharpedo, releasing his Pokemon.
The Pokemon before them was a Camel-like Pokemon with orange fur with three blue rings on his side. There were two small Volcanos on his back, acting as humps, Around his Head was a Headband with a pale yellow Stone and a black, red Flame
Camerupt roared, sending a wave of Heat from his Humps,
Archie raises a brow, looking at his Partner floating with the help of his Aqua Jet. He and Sharpedo laugh, seeing that their Rival is using a Fire/Ground-type Pokemon against them. "Did you really think you could defeat us with Camerupt!?" He asked,
Maxie adjusted his Glasses, staring at his Rival. "It doesn't matter who I used to Battle you, Archibald. Many Pokemon trainers used Pokemon who are weak against Pokemon who a bad match-up." The red-haired Man stated, "I'm merely wanting to see if what the young Ones' Strategy is really worth trying."
"Ha, that's because this Generation of Pokemon trainers is filled with risk-takers," Archie said, unable to see him doing exactly what they could do. He saw that his Rival wasn't backing down from the challenge. "But you're the stubborn Person to even listen to others. Alright, let's see what you got, Maxwell!"
Maxie raises his Glasses, preparing to engage in a Battle with his Rival. "Very well, Archibald."
While running down from the cavern corridor, Helena, Steven, Brendan, and Gardevoir heard some Pokemon Battling down at the end. "Gardevoir," The Psychic/Fairy-type Pokemon sensed a lot of frustrated emotions just ahead of them.
"Gardevoir is sensing something just in front of us," Helena said, relaying what her Partner was saying to the two.
"That means Team Magma's Leader is close in hand," Brendan commented, running a bit further than the two Adults.
Steven took out his Pokeball, indicating for Brendan to do the same. "Get ready you two, it'll be a mess once we get to the innermost Chamber." He said, advising them to prepare themselves for a Battle.
Brendan could only nod, as they neared the entrance to the inner Chamber.
The group entered the Chamber where they met in a Pokemon Battle between two Team Leaders.
Archie points his finger at a large Camerupt, however, the two humps have merged into a large erupting Volcano. An M was at the forehead of the Duel-type Pokemon a Mega Evolved Camerupt. "Sharpedo, Attack with Crunch!"
"Sharpedo!" The Brutal Pokemon launched himself at Camerupt, his mouth wide open ready to bite.
Maxie raises his Glasses, holding his hand out to his Partner. "Camerupt, create a Barrier with Rock Slide!" He ordered his Partner,
Camerupt roared, raising his frontal Body before slamming down onto the ground causing a wave of Rocks to hurl towards Sharpedo.
The Water/Dark-type continued forward, beginning to Crunch away the Rocks in his way. Archie grins, seeing his Partner was using his Head. "Way to go, Sharpedo! Now, use Giga Impact, full throttle!"
"Retaliate with Eruption!" The red-haired Man commanded his Partner,
Camerupt roared, the Volcano on his back spewing out Magma before erupting from the top. The Lava went everywhere, from the side to the Walls, even in the Water where the sleeping Legendary Pokemon was.
The Magma went everywhere in the Chamber, and the Team Magma Grunts and their Pokemon went to find some cover.
Tabitha looks at their Leader, preoccupied with the Battle with the Rival Team's Leader. "Leader Maxie! Stop this, your Battle with Team Aqua's Leader Archie is causing the entire Chamber to-" The Large Man tried to call Maxie to stop Battling, however, his voice fades from the ongoing Battle.
The Team Magma Admin gritted his teeth, his eyes turned to Weezing, needing his assistance to stop the Battle. "Weezing, I need your help to stop this."
The Poison-type Pokemon turns to his Partner, nodding to his request. "Weezing,"
"Weezing, use-"
"Use Psybeam!"
"Use Steel Beam!"
Two voices cried out as two Pokemon appeared from behind the Team Magma Admin.
Metagross and Gardevoir leap in the air, releasing their Attacks toward the two Mega-Evolved Pokemon.
The two Beams hurled towards the two, each taking one Pokemon. The Steel Beam went straight for Sharpedo, knocking him off course.
While the Psybeam hit Camerupt, it wasn't strong enough to stop the Eruption.
Brenden appeared, having his arm in a throwing motion. "Sceptile, take out Camerupt with your Dragon Pulse!" He cried out.
"Scep…tile!" Sceptile came out of his Pokeball, hearing his Partner's voice on what to do.
A multi-colored Beam shaped like a Dragon went straight for Camerupt. The Dragon Pulse exploded upon making contact with the Eruption Pokemon.
Maxie covered his eyes with his arm, hearing the new voices entering the scene. He then heard his Partner fall to the ground. "Camerupt!"" His eyes shift to the Duel-type Pokemon, reverting to his Original Form.
The same goes for Archie's Pokemon, Sharpedo. The Steel Beam has propelled the Water/Dark-type to the Cave Wall, reverting bo its original form.
"Sharpedo!" Archie rushed over to where his Partner was lying, tending to him.
The red-haired Man looks around, seeing that the Grunts and Tabitha are too far away to even do anything. "Tch, Camerupt return!" Maxie called his Partner back to his Pokeball,
Once he retrieved his Camerupt, Maxie took out the Red Orb from his Pocket. "The Champion and the Boy's here. There's no time now," Maxie looks forward, seeing the Sleeping Groudon was just a few feet away. "I have to do this quick,"
Tabitha saw Steven, Helena, and Brenden coming up to him and Weezing. "Professor Potter, Maxie is heading to Groudon as we speak." The team Magma Admin informed her. "I tried my best to warn him of the danger but things kept piling over one another."
Steven, Metagross, Gardevoir, Sceptile, and Brenden looked at Helena, wondering what he was talking about. "Helena, do you know what this Man is talking about?" The Champion asked his Fiancée,
"Yes, both me and Paulo teamed up with Tabitha after seeing the result of the Simulation when Groudon awakens." Helena explains to the group, "To make it short, the outcome is not good for everyone."
Steven and Brendan didn't need Helena to go into an explanation. "I'll go ahead and grab the Red Orb out of Maxie's hands." The brown-haired trainer said, turning to his Partner. "Come on, Sceptile."
"Brendan, wait," Steven reached out to try and stop the young trainer, however, he was a bit late.
Maxie quickly heads over to the Sleeping Groudon, the Red Orb glowed even brighter when he was closer to the Legendary Pokemon.
Once he stood before the Continent Pokemon, the Red Orb was now brighter. "At last, after everything that happened. Team Aqua's intervention, our Researchers reaching a halt, kidnapping the Professor of Ancient Pokemon, stealing an Ancient Artifact, and the Boy's interference…" Maxie said to himself, looking at the Red Orb,
"Every hardship me and Team Magma have to endure has finally rewarded us in the end." The red-haired Man said, extending his hand with the Red Orb to Groudon.
Maxie raised his head, staring directly at the Sleeping Legendary Pokemon. "Groudon, heed my words and obey my Command! Awaken from your slumber and grant your Power to expand the Land once again for Human and Pokemon Prosperity!"
The Leader of Team Magma announced, offering the Legendary Pokemon the Red Orb. Maxie smiled brightly, seeing the Red Orb floating out of his hand and towards Groudon.
Brendan ran down the slope with Sceptile right behind him. The two saw the Red Orb etching closer to the Legendary Pokemon. "We have to stop the Red Orb from getting to Groudon."
"Sceptile," The Forest Pokemon agreed with his Partner,
With that in mind, Brendan immediately held out his hand. "Sceptile, use Leaf Tornado to stop the Red Orb from getting closer!" The young trainer ordered his Partner,
Sceptile leaps forward, leaves appear around his Body before creating a Tornado toward the Red Orb.
The Leaf Tornado hurls in the air, it makes contact with the Orb, attempting to blow it out of range from Groudon. A small explosion appeared from where the Red Orb was with the Leaf Tornado.
Brendan smiled, seeing his Partner had stopped the Artifact from reaching Groudon. He looks at his Partner, landing next to him. "Great job, Sceptile. Now-"
"Brendan, Sceptile!" Helena called out to the young trainer.
The brown-haired trainer looks back, seeing his Mentor, Helena, Tabitha, and their Pokemon heading over to them. "Steven, Professor we did it!" Brenden exclaims, lowering his guard a bit.
"Foolish Child, your efforts were futile." The smoke cleared, revealing the Red Orb undamaged from Sceptile's Attack. In fact, the Red Orb was disbursing Energy toward the sleeping Groudon.
Maxie stood before the Legendary Pokemon, opening his arms wide at his awakening. "Soon, once Groudon regains his original Power the Land will expand and Humanity and Pokemon's Future will be secure." The red-haired Man announced,
"Leader Maxie! You're the Fool!" Maxie turns around, hearing his trusted Admin calling out to him. He ran down over to him, his face was expressing extreme panic and concern.
"Tabitha, what are you doing-"
"Leader Maxie, you unleashed the Great Disaster that plagues Hoenn and the World!" The Large Man exclaims, informing what Maxie just did.
Maxie frowns, turning to his Admin. "Tabitha, I thought you supported Team Magma's goals in making the-"
Tabitha huffs, looking up at the Man who he looks up still for his Dream of a better World. "Leader Maxie, the simulations, the Data from the Weather Institute. The results are all the same," The Large Man said to him, "In order for Team Magma's goal to make a better World, Groudon's Power will destroy this one!"
"The Heat he'll produce is too much for anyone, Pokemon or People alike to handle!" Tabitha explains the situation to the red-haired Man. "We'll be gone before Groudon can start expanding the Land!"
Suddenly the entire Sea Floor Cavern shook, the Red Orb was now spewing Energy toward the Continent Pokemon.
Helena looks up, seeing the Phenomenon she theorized when studying. "It's happening." She said as everyone saw the sleeping Pokemon begin to shift, causing tremors to happen.
"Helena, what's happening?" Steven asked his Fiancée, knowing she was the Person who understood what was going on to Groudon.
"The Red Orb was storing Groudon's original Power. A Power that wasn't seen since Ancient Hoenn from the Draconid People." The black-haired Professor explains with fear in her voice.
The Energy from the Red Orb powered and woke Groudon from his long Hibernation. The Legendary Pokemon's eyes shot open, and the stone around his Body began to crack.
Groudon moves his Body before roaring and shattering the outer shell of the Stone covering. Suddenly, more energy was released toward Groudon, giving him more Power.
Power that quickly escalated, lights soon emerge from the Orb much like how a Keystone works. Everyone watches as the light engulfs Groudon, causing him to grow bigger up to the ceiling.
The light disbursed, revealing a different form of Groudon, the skin between his red plating was Magma, his spikes were blackened and an Omega Symbol was on his two arms.
Groudon roars causing a large tremor to occur, "Primal Reversion."
Archie called back his Partner back into his Pokeball, "Get some rest Sharpedo. You did well," He looks up, seeing a shadow looming over him.
The dark-haired Man leaps out of the way from the falling rock. "Tch, damn Maxwell. You really did it." Archie said, hearing some screaming from behind him. He turns around, seeing Maxie's Grunts and their Pokemon screaming from the tremor and falling rocks.
The Leader of Team Aqua got up, immediately taking the lead in the situation. "Oi, you all!" Archie shouted, gaining everyone's attention. "Get back to your Sub, it's dangerous to be here any longer!" He ordered which everyone obliged, heading back to where they had entered,
Rocks began to fall from the Ceiling due to the roaring Legendary Pokemon. "Helena!" Steven grabs hold of his Fiancée, using his Body to protect her. He held his Pokeball, ready to call for the Pokemon from within for help.
"Ngh, help us out!" Steven tosses his Pokeball, releasing whoever is inside the Pokeball.
