Chapter 1
Once Upon A Time, there was an enchanted forest filled with all the classic characters we know. Or think we know. One day they found themselves trapped in a place where all their happy endings were stolen.
Our World.
This is how it happened.
Enchanted Forest
A lavish wedding was held in a castle, with the bride and groom standing before the priest to say, "I do."
"I now declare you husband and wife."
When the newlyweds kissed, the audience applauded.
As the bridesmaid by Snow White's side, Odette the newly found Princess of Swan Lake.
She was dressed in a blue glitter dress and a pendent of a swan. Her blonde hair was braided in a high updo. She smiled, happy that her friend had gotten her happy ending.
Everything was perfect until The Evil Queen came in and pushed the doors aside with her magic. Everyone stopped clapping to see what was causing the uproar. Some in the audience gasped, while others clutched their loved ones.
"I apologize for being late."
When she strutted across the room, her skirt trailing behind her, she used magic to dispel the guards while one of the dwarves yelled, "It's the dreaded Evil Queen! Run!"
Lucky for Odette, she never leaves behind her weapon. Fast as the wind she plucked out her bow and shot her arrow at the queen.
SWOOSH!
The Evil queen stopped the arrow and broke it.
"Fool me once, shame on you." She burned the broken arrow into ashes. Happy the dwarf held her arrows, and gave Odette another one as Odette was readying her arrow aimed at the queen again.
She won't miss it again.
And Snow-white agreed. She won't let her evil stepmother destroy her happiness again.
Snow White flashed her stepmother daggers before reaching for her husband's sword at his hip, drawing it, and pointing it at the villainous Evil Queen, exclaiming, "She is no longer a Queen! She is nothing more than a wicked witch!"
"No, no, no, don't lower yourself to her level."
"There isn't any need." David lowered his sword before returning his gaze to Regina. "You're squandering your time and have already lost." And I'm not going to let you ruin this wedding."
"Oh, I haven't come here to ruin anything," the Evil Queen smirked. On the contrary, dear, I've come to present you with a gift."
"We have no desire for you." Snow stated.
"However, you shall have it. This wonderful day is my gift to you. My real work begins tomorrow." "You've made your vows, and now I make mine," the Queen continued, causing everyone to look at each other with concern. Soon, everything you care about, everything you care about, everything you care about, everything you care about, everything you care about, everything you will be taken away from those you love. Forever. And my victory will arise from your anguish. If it's the last thing I do, I'll ruin your happiness."
The Evil Queen smiled and vanished in a plume of purplish smoke.
Snow and Prince Charming hugged.
What they didn't notice was that on the big window, a swan looked at the scene curiously and then flew away.
Storybrooke, Maine
The sound of good country music and good ole boots hits the wooden floor.
A beautiful blonde, fuzzy-haired woman. Dressed in a long-sleeved black shirt, Classyak Women's Fashion Stylish Suede Leather Fringed Jacket, blue jeans, and belt buckled with a bull, brown boots designed in thorny vines and red roses. Wearing her cowboy black hat and hair tied in a bun.
The place is always full. Food is cooking hot and steaming. It is a good restaurant, slash bar country bar.
It was one of those nights to have fun and grow adults to drink, card games, and dance. One has a non-smoking side, and the back has a smoker side.
Hey, everybody wants to kick back and enjoy the country lifestyle.
"Sheriff, the usual?" The bar owner spoke.
Sheriff smiled and said, "Yeah, and give me a steak as well, Odette."
The mysterious bar owner smiled as she was revealed as Odette. Odette Lake placed the drink and told her chef to cook up the steak.
Odette Lake owns the Country Tavern called, "We're in Harmony".
"Here you are, sheriff." She placed a good steak that is rarely cooked and the side dish is steamed vegetables.
Sheriff Graham looked at the steamed vegetables, then he saw Odette give him a motherly look. "C'mon, you know you have to eat something healthy."
"Really?" He complained a bit. Though, he can't blame her. Last time at the restaurant, he had a brief heart attack that caused panic.
Odette had to rush him to the hospital and luck was on his side. He was okay.
Doctor Whale suggested that he ease up the coffee and try to eat steamed vegetables to get him healthy.
So, Odette made it her mission to make sure he eats healthy side, and she even called Granny to make sure he does eat healthy.
'She already, called Granny. And now she is making my life hard.' Sheriff mumbled as he quickly ate his steamed vegetables first then hopefully, he would eat the steak quickly before it got cold.
Odette saw that he was eating his vegetables, and she nodded 'good.'
Now time for her to clean her stations.
Enchanted Forest
The swan is being petted and groomed gently. The swan cooed while she was enjoying this treatment. The scaly gold hand and long nails playfully tap her beak.
The swan shakes her head and nips playfully back.
Despite the jail, it is nice to visit him as she knows he gets lonely.
They heard footsteps as he giggled.
"Look Dearie, we have guests!" He let out another bout of giggles.
He saw two hooded figures as the Swan hissed at them.
"I agree. This is insulting. Remove your hoods!" He ordered them. "We know who you are. Prince Charming and Snow White."
They removed their hoods as they stared at them.
The Swan chirped as she nibbled onto his hair playfully. He giggles and says, "Yes, yes! It is them! Oh, and congratulations on your wedding! We would have come to your wedding, but it seems like our invitation came rather late notice!" He let out laughter.
The torch lights revealed his appearance. He had crocodile skin, crooked, jagged teeth, and greasy hair that hung in clumps across his face in curls. The swan by his side is pure white and beautiful without blemish.
"Rumplestiltskin." Prince Charming came forward and said, "We need to talk." The imp smiled rather greedily.
He, the Dark One already knows what they want.
The Queen's curse is coming.
But the question is, how can they stop it?
After all, Magic has a price.
A price not everyone can pay.
Storybrooke, Maine
Odette Lake yawned loudly as she walked back to Granny's diner for brunch.
Good old fashion, ham, and cheese eggs omelette. She bites as she sleepily drops her eyes. Boy, it has been weird like this town repeated their routine for the first time in years.
Odette doesn't know but she felt like something was changing. She doesn't know but she feels it.
Welp, time to do her errands.
Odette thanked Ruby and Granny and left.
She went to the store to buy groceries for her house. She brought whatever food she needed like milk, eggs, bacon, cereal, fruits, and a few meats for her to cook.
She went back to her humble house which is a ranch and barn.
She went to the kitchen and put groceries in. Then went to get the box from her private study room where the fireplace and desk were for the master of the house. She reached for the box filled with donation books to give to the school.
Driving up her Cadillac car to school.
She parked her car and walked up to the school with the box full of donation books she wanted to give.
Mary Margaret Blanchard was in the middle of her latest lesson at Storybrooke K-12 school. Her students were all working on wooden birdhouses, painting and personalizing them. Nonetheless, their teacher, a short-haired version of none other than Snow White, captivated them.
"Remember that what we're making is a home as we build our birdhouses. It's not a cage. A bird is free to do whatever it wants. This isn't for us; it's for them. "They're loyal creatures," she said as she released a small bluebird from the classroom window, where it immediately perched on a birdhouse, "and if you love them and they love you, they'll always find you."
As the students left, one of them ran up to Mary Margret and handed her a pear, which she eagerly accepted.
"Why, thank you!" she replied. Odette came and she showed her box.
"Oh, Odette. You came." Mary Margaret smiled as Odette placed her box on the desk. "Yeah, figure you need books for students."
Mary saw her friend's childhood books. Full of fairytales, geography, maps, and fables stories.
"Are you sure you wanted to give them away?" The teacher showed concern as these were once her mother's stuff.
"Yeah, my mom would prefer to spread her joys in stories among the kids," Odette spoke as she looked at her mother's books. It hurts to remember that time when she was happy from the time when she was alive.
Mary Margret gently placed her hand on her arm for comfort.
Though the moment is over when Regina and some strange woman come to them. Odette recalls many faces in Storybrooke, but this one is new.
"See you at the book club," Odette said her byes to Mary Margret who waved her off.
"Mayor," Odette greeted as she quickly left. For some reason, she is not comfortable around with Mayor Regina Mills.
Her son, Henry Mills, is sweet. It is amazing how someone is kind and thoughtful to have a dragon bitch of a mother.
Well, she has to get ready for tonight.
Later the closing time for her country building is closing for the night.
Odette was pushing the last partygoers to go home for the night.
She sighed as she mumbled, "One night at a time."
She was cleaning and mopping the floors before closing the place for tomorrow night.
Odette was driving home, though on the street. Yet a shocking turn of events changes their world.
DING!
She let out a startled and saw the clock at 8:15 p.m. change to one minute pass to 8:16 p.m. The big clock that doesn't work anymore now does.
"How can this be?"
Then a huge migraine came to her head as she screamed in her car. "Kyah!"
Flashes through her memories as everything is fast and sees it like a movie.
She is a princess.
Magic.
Transforming into a Swan.
Then dancing with the man.
She saw his eyes as he giggled.
Odette gasped and looked up. She saw herself in the mirror and touched her face.
Slowly, she started to smile and replied with one name she wanted to say.
"Rumplestiltskin."
The scene turned black as the episode ended.
