Chapter 16
"Ok so you need to explain to me what the hell is going on," Lena told her friends. The government people she'd been meeting with had left the building and the raven-haired woman hoped she did a good enough snow job that they didn't notice there were things going on in the background.
"We have a breach in your security. Todd is trying to figure out who, with Papa Bear's help. The ARGUS agents are trying to find out what explosives were obtained and how the bomb was put together," Kara explained. She, Nia, and M'gann were in Lena's office sitting around the latter's desk. This allowed Alex and Kelly were coordinating with ARGUS and Brainy was trying to see if there was any online chatter.
"Good grief. Why does this Enigma hate me?" Lena asked.
"I don't think it's you," Kara admitted.
"Oh," Lena gave her a look.
"My guess is that the bomb was meant for whatever is supposed to be happening at the meeting they called tonight," Kara told her.
"How much longer until then?" Lena could feel a headache coming on as she rubbed her temples.
"Four hours," Nia spoke up.
"Does that seem like too much time?" Lena asked.
"Yes, but originally, whoever their inside man is, was probably going to let them into the building. Now, as long as this person hasn't been able to reach out, they'll get one heck of a surprise at the front door of the building," M'gann told her.
"So, you're thinking we can catch them when they try to enter the building. Usually, people clear out around five pm but if we have a big project or a late meeting it could be later. Maybe ten pm was an attempt to make sure no one besides security was in the building?" Lena wondered.
"Something still bothers me about that though. You have a full crew on at night, right?" Kara wanted to know.
"One person per floor at night with three in the lobby watching the cameras," Lena explained.
"Ok so having only one inside guy would still make things difficult. I don't see them being able to drop onto the roof though," Nia said.
"They were able to get their hands on explosives though," M'gann frowned.
"True. I just can't see the end game of this whole charade though anymore. People have died and for what?" Lena asked.
"I honestly don't know. The Russian and Chinese leads dried up so we never found our hacker. At this point it could just be revenge, which…" Kara heaved a sigh.
"Which means she'll stop at nothing, thanks to everyone who keeps ruining her plans," Lena nodded.
"To say this lady had good mental health would have been a stretch anyway. When all your plans for making a mess around the world go up in flames… well that doesn't add any points in the sanity column," M'gann said.
"Agreed. Is ARGUS going to help with securing the building?" Lena wanted to know.
"Yes. We should be ready for them. Regrettably, now we wait," Kara said. There was a knock on the office door and Lena bade the person to enter. It was Todd.
"Todd, what do you have for us?" She asked.
"We need Dreamer's help. J'onn and I found our security breach," he smiled.
"Snakebite?" Kara inquired.
"Yes, and mind manipulation to be sure. Hopefully we can get some answers out of him," Todd said.
"Excellent work. Keep us posted," Lena told him.
