No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)

Chapter 68: Lone Wolf (Part 8)

Donna Strange walked just a half-step behind Clea Strange and her two brothers as that adorable little "Star Child" was eventually given a tour of the X-Mansion.

Wade Wilson disappeared after the soccer game, and thank goodness for that… because the mercenary was quite the show stealer.

Donna barely said a word to him, mainly because there wasn't much to say.

He was clearly trying to hide the fact that he had a daughter, but that was his business.

The newest embodiment of the Ancient One didn't think much of it as she followed behind her family.

Her eyes kept stopping on random things, then she'd proceed with caution every time she walked by something that was filled with water.

Even a clear water bottle showed her something specific, but Donna wasn't in the mood to bring it up.

She didn't want to overshadow anything that was happening with Sofia in that moment with any terrible news, so…

"So, we're going to share this room?"

"Yes. Ellie is changing out of her soccer gear, but this will be the space you'll share with her while you're here."

Oh? Sofia Strange seemed a little puzzled by what Charles Xavier said, and of course she looked directly at her parents.

This was THEIR combined decision, after all, so Sofia deliberately brought her confusion straight to them.

Stephen gave his beautiful daughter a smile, but he wasn't about to entertain any sort of attitude.

No way young lady…

"I've been in a similar situation before Sofia, but my room was on the opposite side of the X-mansion. Oh, and then there was something called college…"

Stephen had a pretty simple life back then, but he wouldn't trade his present life for anything in the cosmos.

It seemed a siege on his current life was always in the works tho, but the "former" Sorcerer Supreme always smiled through it…

He had to carry on, persevere, and outsmart them all… one by one.

Stephen looked at his wonderful sister in that moment, for starters, because he could tell something was up.

Donna was way too quiet, she wasn't squabbling with Victor, and she seemed distant…

Hmmmmm….

Stephen decided to ponder that for a second, and he watched his daughter take a seat on the bed. She got to pick which side of the room she wanted, so there's that…

Donna Strange was paying attention, but her eyes started wandering toward the window…

It started raining all of a sudden, and the young woman took it as some sort of sign.

Water was flowing all over the window at that point, and it grabbed her attention more than it should…

A foreign country, called Latveria, was thousands of miles away from New York.

It wasn't raining there at all, but the woman named Wanda Maximoff was tossing pebbles into a creek.

She was looking into the water, and thinking over what she planned to say to Stephen Strange that evening.

Victor Von Doom told her that he arranged a "civil" conversation… and the Scarlet Witch could actually see the Strange family there, in New York.

Wanda was pestering Donna Strange, and haunting her as best she could with the water…

Why should she get to live anyway? What makes her so special?

Wanda figured she was the only one brave enough to dare the question. Even the man named "Doom" was hesitating with the gesture.

….

They spoke about the significance of Donna's life a short time ago. It felt like they argued again, actually, and Wanda sensed his hesitation.

That hesitation in him was forgiven, because she knew they shared a deep feeling of loss..

Victor Von Doom stopped talking to her for a moment, and Wanda noticed that she missed the sound of his voice.

She wasn't ready to return to the castle at this point in the story tho, but she was migrating the back roads and slowly migrating back in Doom's direction.
