Imperfect Harmony
A/n: Hi, here's the third chapter for the story, I hope you enjoy and sorry for the wait, I had a few internet problems which made my progess slower that I expected
With that said, enjoy the chapter
Hiccup called the other Dragon Riders to his home, to show them what he found about the Dragon Eye
"Okay, bud, go ahead" Hiccup said, so Toothless bent down and created a low flame in front of the Dragon eye, making it show the same symbols and writing
"Definitely worth getting up for" Fishlegs said
"Totally, I expected anything but this" Blake said in agreement "But… what does it even mean?"
"Fishlegs, can you make any out of it?" Hiccup asked
Fishlegs walked closer to the symbols and writing, in an effort to translate it
"There are parts of maps and symbols, nothing I've seen before" Fishlegs said
"What's that?" Snotlout asked as he pointed at one symbol in specific, which had the form of a burning fist
"Must be some kind of tribal crest or something" Hiccup answered
"I like that way better than our tribal crest" Tuffnut said
"Tuff, we don't have a tribal crest" Hiccup said
"Well, we should" Ruffnut said
"Yeah, and it should be that" Tuffnut added
"Hiccup, this map" Fishlegs said "You realize it-"
"Goes beyond the boundaries of the archipelago, I know" Hiccup continued
"So, what's the next move" Astrid asked, so Hiccup put himself in front of the other riders
"Look at this! There are maps we've never seen, writing we can't read, dragons we don't recognize, it's incredible! This Dragon Eye is the proof that there is a whole other world out there, a world we must explore!" he said, it was like a speech
"You prepared that whole speech before calling us here, didn't you?" Blake asked as he crossed his arms, Hiccup just smiled awkwardly as an answer "Of course you did"
The next morning, Hiccup and Toothless were at the Great Hall, Hiccup had just given the same speech he gave to the riders last night to Berk's council, whose members were Stoick, Gobber, Spitelout, Bucket, Mulch and Sven
"This sure beats normal council business" Gobber said
"It's alright, you can speak your mind. We are a council after all, that's why we're here" Stoick said
"We've been at peace for three years, best years of Berk I can remember. I think you know as well as I do that when you go looking for trouble, you usually find it" Spitelout said
"I'm with Spitelout. If that dragon Eye leads to unknown placed and new wild dragons, then no good will come from any of that" Sven said
"I completely disagree with you, Sven. Look around you, how can you say that no good can come from discovering new species of dragons?" Hiccup asked
"If there's anything you and the other riders should be doing is hunting down Dagur and putting him back to jail where he belongs" Spitelout said
"Another reason to go. Dagur was heading beyond our borders, he thinks we won't go past them, but that's where we'll find him" Hiccup said, but Spitelout was still not convinced
"Stoick, any time you like to chime in, we can put this thing to rest" he said
"You're right, Spitelout. Let's put this to rest" Stoick said, before walking towards Hiccup
"Dad" Hiccup began
"Let me speak, son" Stoick interrupted "This is as important for you to hear as it is for them"
Hiccup couldn't help but to sigh, he seemed to know where was all of this going
"Spitelout, you're absolutely right, these have been some of our best years, nothing is more important than peace, peace among us, peace with our neighbors and peace with the dragon" Stoick said "Having said that, let me ask you this Spitelout. When you and I first had Alvin in our sights and everyone was telling us to leave well enough alone, what did we do?"
"Crushed him, that what you did" Gobber said
"Thank you, Gobber" Stoick said as he rolled his eyes
"My pleasure, Chief" Gobber said
"When Valka was taken and I went in search got her, could anyone have stopped me?" Stoick asked
"Well, technically you're the chief, so no" Gobber said
"Yes, Gobber, fair point" Stoick said, glaring at Gobber "But you know where I'm going. Think of the most important thing in the world to each of you, ask yourself honestly how far would you be willing to go get it, what would you risk? The boy's life has been dragons, his life is dragons and will continue to be. We can stop him from going if we wanted to, so we might as well support him"
Hiccup couldn't believe what Stoick just said, he expected him to say "no" but it wasn't that way
"Go, lad. Find whatever it is out there pulling on you" Stoick said, as he placed his hands on Hiccup's shoulders "And when you find it, Berk will be right here, waiting for you"
"You better get out of here before all this nostalgia wears off and he changes his mind" Gobber said
Hiccup smiled at Stoick one last time before running towards the entrance
"Take care of my boy, dragon" Stoick said, looking at Toothless who nodded and grabbed the Dragon Eye before following his rider
A few minutes later, Hiccup and Toothless were looking at the fog bank
"You ready for this?" Hiccup asked, looking at his dragon
"Blah, blah, blah, why do you have to make a production out of everything?" a voice asked, it was Snotlout, him and the other riders where flying behind Hiccup "Let's just go already"
"Okay, but if anyone has any reservations-" Hiccup couldn't finish his sentence since the other riders flew pass him
"Into the great beyond!" Snotlout yelled as they went into the fog bank
"Okay, no reservations" Hiccup said "Let's go, bud!"
They flew into the fog bank and followed the other riders, they were excited for whatever they could find
Unfortunately for them, hours seem to pass and yet they found nothing
"Into the great beyond" Snotlout said, followed by the other riders but without motivation in their voices
"Come on, you guys, so we've had a couple of tough hours, nothing that's worth anything comes easy" Hiccup said, he was the only one who still look optimist
"Is that one of his riddles? Because now is not the time, my friend. Just look at him" Tuffnut said, gesturing at Blake
Hiccup looked at him and realized that he had his arms crossed over his chest but somehow, he managed to fall asleep on Thunder's back without falling and still be sitting straight
Even Thunder didn't realize what was his rider doing, so he growled to wake him up
"Uh, what?" Blake asked as he woke up "Sorry, I didn't realize I was falling asleep, are we at the great beyond yet?"
"No, not yet" Astrid answer, making Blake groan in annoyance
"I'm starting to doubt if it's even real" he said
"Toothless, let's see if there's anything out there" Hiccup said, so Toothless roared trying to use his echolocation to find something "Nothing"
Just as Hiccup stopped talking, the riders heard some thunder and it began to rain
"Ugh! Seems like the further we go in, the worse it gets" Astrid groaned
"Hiccup, I think we should turn back, we've been flying for most of the day" Fishlegs said
"We just have to keep pushing forward until out of this" Hiccup said
They kept flying further until they start to see some sunlight
"Hiccup, is that-?" Astrid began
"Yeah, it is. Everybody, fly to the light" Hiccup ordered
All of the riders kept flying towards the sunlight and quickly got out of the storm, but they were also able to see some small islands
"Look at this" Astrid said
"It's incredible" Hiccup said
"Guys, I don't want to ruin the moment but we should find a place to land and quick, our dragons are too tired" Blake said
"Yeah, Meatlug's wings are about to fall off" Fishlegs said
"Sorry, guys, there's a place to land up ahead down we can set down" Hiccup said just before they all heard a strange sound that seem to attract the dragons
"Whoa, whoa, what is it, girl?" Fishlegs asked "Don't you want to rest?"
All of the dragons faced down towards one island, from it some kind of melody seemed to come from
"Guys, do you hear that?" Hiccup asked
"What is that?" Snotlout asked
"Whatever it is, the dragons seem to be attracted by it" Blake said
"Then I guess that's where we're going" Hiccup said before flying down to the island
A few minutes later, the riders and the dragons landed at the shore of the island, which had a waterfall and a beach
"This place is amazing" Fishlegs said as all of the riders and dragons took a rest
"Okay, I'm never going back to Berk" Snotlout said as he lied down on the sand
"Berk? What's that? 'Cause I forgot" Tuffnut said as he and Ruffnut played in the water
"Well, I guess we don't have to vote on where we're making camp" Hiccup said
"Yeah, I wouldn't mind staying a bit longer" Blake said "And I think the dragons wouldn't mind either"
Thunder as an answer, he grunted in pleasure as his rider rubbed his head
"Ha, I'll take out the fire" Snotlout said
Then, he poured a green liquid over the sand towards a nearby shrub
"Hookfang, light it up!" Snotlout ordered, so Hookfang lit the liquid on fire
"Monstrous Nightmare gel. Don't leave home without it" Snotlout said proudly
Later that night, the riders and dragons where asleep, except for Hiccup and Astrid who were looking at the full moon
"You were right, Hiccup. There's so much more out here and it's beautiful" Astrid said
"And this is only the beginning, who knows what we'll find out here" Hiccup said
That morning, Hiccup began to shake Astrid wake
"Astrid, wake up. Do you hear that?" Hiccup asked as Astrid woke up
"What? I don't hear anything" she said as she stood up
"Exactly, it's gone, the sound is gone" Hiccup explained
"That's not all" Blake said as he walked towards them "The dragons are gone too"
"All of them!" Fishlegs added
As soon as possible, the riders went further into the island in order to look for the dragon
"Stormfly!" Astrid yelled before noticing how the twins were looking behind the same boulder all over again "Ugh, how many times are you guys gonna check behind that rock? Barf and Belch cannot hide behind it"
"Clearly you are not ware of the stealthiness of one Barf and Belch, or is that two Barf and Belch?" Ruffnut asked
"Hmm, excellent question" Tuffnut answered "One head"
"One dragon" Ruffnut added
"Two brains" Tuffnut added
"One body" Ruffnut finished
"Two bodies, half a brain" Snotlout laughed
"Nothing" Hiccup said as he looked back at the other riders "I don't get it, where would they go?"
"Oh, my Meatlug, she wouldn't do this, she wouldn't leave me, she would never do this on her own" Fishlegs said sadly
Suddenly, the riders heard something in some near bushes, so the all look at them slightly nervously but Toothless jumped out of the bushes and tackled Hiccup to the ground
"There you are, bud. Where did you go?" Hiccup said as Toothless licked him
Then, he roared and began to walk around the riders
"Okay, I think your dragon ate something weird in the forest because he is out of his mind" Snotlout said
"Yeah, this is not how he usually behaves" Blake added
"I think he's trying to tell us something" Fishlegs said
"What is it, bud, is it the other dragons?" Hiccup asked as he kneeled to look better at Toothless' eyes
Toothless bit Hiccup's metal leg and ran off, dragging him into the forest with him as the other riders just looked at the scene
"Uh, how far do you think he's going to get before he realizes?" Astrid asked as Hiccup got up
"Hard to say, he seems pretty committed" he said
Turns out, Toothless pull Hiccup's metal leg so hard that it's the only thing he took, which didn't take him long to realize, so he returned with the riders looking embarrassed and dropped the metal leg in front of his rider
"That's okay, bud. I like the enthusiasm" Hiccup said, petting Toothless' head
After putting the metal leg back in its place, Hiccup got up on Toothless' back
"You guys stay here in case they come back, Toothless and I are gonna look for them from above" Hiccup said
They flew away in order to look for the other dragons. However, they quickly heard a roar, so they looked down and looked how a purple Thunderdrum was waking its way towards the other riders without them noticing
Hiccup immediately made Toothless fly towards them but Toothless wasn't cooperating, instead he was trying to fly towards a mountain in the distance
"No, bud! This way!" Hiccup said as he tried to make Toothless fly towards the Thunderdrum
Meanwhile, the other riders heard something in the bushes again, but before they could do anything, the Thunderdrum jumped out of the bushes
"Oh, Thor! Oh, Thor! Thunderdrum!" Fishlegs said just before the Thunderdrum shot a sonic blast at them, forcing them to cover their ears
Luckily for them, Toothless shot several plasma blasts and scared the Thunderdrum off
"Good job, bud. Let's hope that's the last we see of that guy" Hiccup said as they landed in front of the other riders who where still a bit stunned
"ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO DRAW TOWARDS US? CHANGEWING? SCREAMING DEATH, MAYBE? I'M SURE THERE ARE ONE OF THOSE AROUNF HERE" Snotlout yelled
"Snotlout, you're yelling very loudly" Hiccup yelled, but not as hard as Snotlout
"OH, REALLY? I CAN BARELY HEAR MYSELF! BECAUSE THAT' WHAT HAPPENS WHE YOU GET ATTACKED BY A WILD THUNDERDRUM!"
"Okay, we need our dragons, I'm going to go back out there" Hiccup said but the riders just looked at him "I SAID I'M GOING BACK OUT THERE!"
"NO WAY, HICCUP, YOU ARE NOT LEAVING US ALONE!" Astrid yelled
"WE ARE DRAGON-LESS AND DEFENSELESS!" Fishlegs yelled
"I'M THE ONLY ONE WITH A REAL WEAPON!" Blake yelled as he gestured at his spear
"AND WE CAN ONLY COMMUNICATE BY YELLING!" Ruffnut yelled
"WHICH, ALTHOUGH QUITE ENJOYABLE, IS NOT VERY STEALTHY! ARE YOU HEARING ANY OF THIS?!" Tuffnut yelled
"Okay, fine. We'll all go together" Hiccup said but once again the other riders just looked at him "Oh, for- I SAID WE'LL ALL GO TOGETHER!"
"WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY SO? JEEZ!" Tuffnut yelled
A few minutes later, the riders were walking through the forest and thankfully by that time all of the riders recovered their hearing
"Uh, Hiccup?" Fishlegs asked nervously
"I know, Fishlegs. No longer amazing" Hiccup said
"Can we get a vote for creepy and weird?" Snotlout asked before he and the twins raised their hands
They quickly reached a clearing and stopped when they saw a huge mountain of dragon bones
"Are those what I think they are?" Fishlegs asked
"Weirdly-shaped white rocks?" Tuffnut asked
"Dragon bones" Hiccup corrected
"A boneyard. Yes, I like it" Tuffnut said, making Ruffnut and Hiccup glare at him "I don't like it"
Blake gave a step forward the dragon bones to look at them closely
"Well, some of these are kind of old, so we can be calm since our dragons are still not part of it" he said, looking back at the other riders
"But we better find them before they do" Hiccup said as Astrid picked up something from the ground
"What is this stuff?" she asked, what she picked up was some king of amber colored rock
"No idea" Hiccup said
Then, they all heard a roar in the distance
"Okay, what was that?" Snotlout asked
"That, my friend, was a dragon in trouble" Fishlegs explained
Toothless immediately ran towards the roars, so the riders began to follow him into a gorge where they found lots of dragons trapped in the same amber stuff Astrid found earlier
All of the dragons look really weak and some tried to release themselves but it was useless
"You guys know what's going on here, don't you?" Tuffnut asked
"Yeah, something is trapping the dragons in this amber rock substance and immobilizing them" Fishlegs said
"Oh, I had a completely different idea that involved oily fish and bad mutton" Tuffnut said
"But who is doing this in the first place?" Blake asked just before they heard another roar
All of the riders hid behind some rocks and were able to see a whole new dragon. Its wings and head had several frills attached to it. Its body was thing and its scales were mostly orange but it also had some blue and yellow scales on its wings and tail
"How about that guy? Yeah, he looks suspect to me" Ruffnut said before Fishlegs forced her to hide again
The dragon picked up a Terrible Terror that was trapped in the amber and flew away, but for some reason Toothless wanted to fly towards him
"No, Toothless! No!" Hiccup said as he tried to keep Toothless hidden with him but he calmed down when the dragon left "It's the sounds. That song, that's what draws the dragon in"
"Songwing!" Fishlegs said
"What?" Astrid asked
"That's what we should name it" Fishlegs explained
"Seriously? That's what you're thinking about now?" Blake asked a bit angry
"We have to call it some way" Fishlegs said
"Yeah, I'm thinking Death Song might be more appropriate, you know? 'cause you hear the song, you are dead" Tuffnut said
"Tell you what, he makes a pretty good point" Hiccup said
"Yeah, I do" Tuffnut said but he quickly realized he had no idea what Hiccup was talking about "Wait, what was it again?"
"It doesn't matter what we call it, it it's going it to all these dragons, then it probably did to ours" Astrid said
"Good point, we need to find them and fast" Blake added
They kept waking through the captured dragons, hoping to find their own
"Stormfly!" Astrid called
"Hookfang! Hookfang!" Snotlout called
"Thunder!" Blake said when he saw his dragon captured in the amber, so he ran towards him "Are you okay?"
Thunder just gave a small smile as an answer trying to say that he was fine or at least not injured as Blake tried to use his spear to release him
"Snotlout, look!" Astrid said, so Snotlout noticed how she was standing next to Hookfang
"Hooky! I am getting you out if here, Fangster" Snotlout said
"Astrid, I've got Stormfly!" Fishlegs said as he tried to release her from the amber
Then, they heard the roar of the Death Song, so Toothless jumped onto a boulder before Hiccup could stop him
The Death Song shot his amber at Toothless who tried to dodge it but since he couldn't fly, he was captured in the amber
"No!" Hiccup yelled as he ran towards his dragon "You guys, get your dragons free now!"
All of the riders kept trying to release their dragons but the Death song noticed it and surprisingly fast he captured Snotlout, Fishlegs and the twins in amber
"What? I can't move! I'm totally stuck!" Fishlegs yelled
"Me too, I can't believe that thing got me, I'm usually so limber" Snotlout said
"Yeah? Well, at least you got your own cocoon" Tuffnut said annoyedly, since he and Ruffnut were sharing the "cocoon"
"Oh yeah? Like this this a picnic for me" Ruffnut answered angrily before they tried to release themselves, but that only made them land on their side
The Death Song was about to capture Hiccup, who didn't notice
"Hiccup, it's coming for you!" Astrid warned
Hiccup turned around and saw how the Death Song shot his amber at him but in the last moment, Astrid pushed him away and got captured in his place
"Astrid!" Hiccup yelled
The Death Song shot his amber at Blake who managed to dodge it. However, since the amber is more like a liquid when the Death Song shots it, some of it managed to slash on Blake's spear and hand
"Oh no" Blake said as his hand and part of his spear got trapped in the amber
Hiccup knew that their only option was to escape, he didn't like the idea but he and Blake ran towards an opening in the gorge but the Death Song followed them
Luckily for them, they didn't see the steep slope and slid down, escaping from the Death Song but when they reached the bottom, they found themselves face-to-face with the same Thunderdrum from earlier
"Oh, hey. Remember me?" Hiccup said both nervously and awkwardly, so the Thunderdrum growled at them "Hey, I'm thinking we may have gotten off on the wrong foot"
Hiccup raised his shield trying to protect himself and Blake, who couldn't do much with just one hand, as the Thunderdrum roared at them
"Not for the Book of Dragons, Thunderdrums carry a grudge" Hiccup said
"I maybe we shouldn't think about that now!" Blake said
The Thunderdrum tackled them to the ground, just in time to save them from some amber shot by the Death Song who was flying above them
The Thunderdrum charge towards him but it ended up pinned to the ground by the Death Song
"Don't worry, I got your back" Hiccup said as he used his shield to shot a bola at the Death Song, which wrapped around his mouth, giving the Thunderdrum the change to flip him over
"That's not gonna hold him for long" Hiccup said
"We need a way to get out of here" Blake said
Hiccup thought for a moment before he came up with an idea "I have an idea but I don't think you're going to like it" he said
"I already had that in mind" Blake answered as Hiccup walked towards the Thunderdrum
"Okay, you might not like what we're about to do, but trust me, it's going to work out for all of us" Hiccup said
Both him and Blake jumped on the Thunderdrum's back, making it fly roughly as it tried to get them off his back
"Haven't we gone over this?!" Hiccup yelled as he tried to stay on the Thunderdrum's back
"At least you are holding with both of your hands, Hiccup!" Blake yelled, he was having a rough time to stay on the Thunderdrum's back since he could only hold with one hand
"I said I'm trying to help all of us, don't you listen?!" Hiccup asked before thinking in hos own words "Of course you don't listen, you're a Thunderdrum and Thunderdum's a hard of hearing!"
Eventually they crashed at a clearing, Hiccup and Blake were hurt but they didn't have any serious wound
"At least we lost the Death Song" Hiccup said as he got up
"Yeah, that's at least something" Blake said "But the others are still there and I can't help much since my hand is cocooned with my spear"
"I can't believe this is actually happening" Hiccup sighed in frustration "I shall leave you and the others back on Berk. Now they are cocooned in that crazy rock stuff while we are being chased by and angry Death Song and are stuck with a wild Thunderdrum who can't hear a thing we say!"
Then, both of them realized something and looked at the Thunderdrum
"Wait a second, if you guys can hardly hear a thing, then you probably can't hear the Death Song's call" Hiccup said
"But still, why don't you just leave? I really doubt you and the Death Song are in some kind of turf war" Blake said as Hiccup raised his hand and walked towards the Thunderdrum
"You know what, Mr. Thunderdrum? You're gonna help us get our friends back, and we are going to make sure that dragon never bothers you again, what do you say?" he said
The Thunderdrum growled at him but it allowed Hiccup to place his hand on its snout
Back with the other riders, they were still trying to release themselves from the amber without any success
"Uh, where's Hiccup and Blake? I knew they'd leave us, I have to pee" Snotlout muttered
"They didn't leave us, they'll be back. If I could just reach my knife" Astrid said as she tried to move her arms
"It wouldn't matter, Astrid. This amber, it's really strong, I don't think we can cut through it" Fishlegs said as he tried to release himself
"If we can't cut it, then how do we get out of here?" Snotlout asked
"Yeah, you can't tell me that the last breath is going to be inhaling her stinky fish hair" Tuffnut said, who had his sister's hair all over his face
"Oh yeah? That's real original, you know what? I hope he eats you first, at least I'll have something cool to watch before I die" Ruffnut said
"You stay on your side of the cocoon, missy" Tuffnut said before something rammed their cocoon and made them land on their backs "Whoa! What's going in? do it again!"
Then, they all saw how Hiccup and Blake were ridding the Thunderdrum who rammed the twins' cocoon in hope to open it
"Okay, so that the negative on plan A: ramming the cocoon open" Hiccup said
"Please tell me you have a plan B" Astrid said
"If it involves cutting, ramming or ripping, you might as well forget it. Once it cools down, this amber is hard as any rock I've ever seen" Fishlegs said
"Cools down?" Hiccup asks
"And hardens" Fishlegs added
"He's right, when I tried to release Thunder from his cocoon with my spear, the amber didn't have a single crack" Blake said
All of this information seemed to gave Hiccup an idea, he remembered how the amber behaved more like a liquid when the Death Song shot it and how it splashed on Blake's hand and part of his spear
"Nobody move" Hiccup said, so the other riders just looked blankly at him
"That's funny, a real comedian" Tuffnut said, unamused
"I think I know how to get you out but I need to test it" Hiccup said, looking slightly at Blake
Moments later, Blake was sitting on the ground while Hiccup was pouring some of Snotlout's Monstrous Nightmare gel over the cocoon that covered his hand and part of the spear
"Are you sure about this, Hiccup?" Blake asked, not fully convinced "I don't want to lose my hand, I already have enough with being one-eye blind"
"It'll work, don't worry" Hiccup said but it was really obvious that he still had his doubts
Then, with help of his shield, Hiccup lit the gel on fire, and for everyone's surprise the amber surrounding Blake's hand and part of his spear got destroyed
"It works!" Blake said as he moved his hand freely "That feels much better"
"Looks like we can go ahead with plan B" Hiccup said
Without wasting one more second, both of them started to pour more of the Monstrous Nightmare gel on the dragons and riders
"I'm still not sure about this" Snotlout said
"Trust me, Snotlout" Hiccup said
"You saw how good it worked on me, relax" Blake said "Besides, you said it only stings a little"
"I was lying! You know I'm a liar!" Snotlout protested
"Oh, please, you'll be fine" Blake said, a bit annoyed just before they heard the roar of the Death Song
Hiccup, Blake and the Thunderdrum hid behind some rocks just as the Death Song landed next to Fishlegs and Meatlug
The Death Song look at Fishlegs, Meatlug and another Gronckle near them, he was deciding who was going to be his next meal. Luckily for Fishlegs and Meatlug, the Death Song decided to grab the other Gronkle and flew off
"Hurry up, guys! He just took the appetizer, I think I'm the main course!" Fishlegs yelled, nervously before he managed to separate his cocoon from Meatlug's and fell onto his back
"Fishlegs, relax. It could take hours for him to eat that dragon" Astrid said but she was wrong, since the Death Song returned and landed and looked down at Fishlegs
He nervously moved his legs, trying to escape but he could only move in circles as the Death Song turned his head to never stop looking at him
"Hi, sir" Fishlegs said nervously, so the Death Song tilted his head back in place and roared at him. However, he looked back at the Thunderdrum when he heard his roar
"Hey, remember me?!" Hiccup asked as he was riding on the Thunderdrum's back
Of course, it didn't take long for the Death Song to chase after them, giving Blake the change to finish pouring the Monstrous Nightmare gel on the dragons and riders
"I hope this is enough" Blake muttered to himself
The Death Song kept chasing Hiccup at the Thunderdrum around the island, as he shot amber to amber to capture them but the Thunderdrum dodged them all
At one moment, the Thunderdrum flew straight towards the Death Song. However, instead of colliding with him, it flew back to the gorge
When they were above it, Hiccup jumped off the Thunderdrum's back and used his shield to ski on the ground and ignited the gel in the process. The fire reached the dragons and their riders, destroying their amber cocoons
"Yes, it's working!" Astrid said as she got up
Toothless immediately ran towards Hiccup who gladly hugged him "Hey, bud, good to see you" he said
All of the riders got on their respective dragons and flew up, Hiccup was about to do the same but he saw another Thunderdrum a blue one trapped in the amber as well
"It's an adolescent Thunderdrum, no wonder he stuck around" Hiccup said "Snotlout, you get the Thunderdrum, I'll handle the Death Song!"
Hiccup and Toothless flew towards the Death Song and Thunderdrum were still fighting each other but when the Death Song noticed them, he decided to go after them
"Hey, let's relocate this guy permanently" Hiccup said just before noticing a cave not to far away "And I've just got the place. Okay, Mr. Death Song, welcome to your new home"
They flew into the cave with the Death Song not to far away. Toothless was able to fly through the cave with no trouble, thing that couldn't be said for the Death Song who literally hit every stalactite in the way
"Okay, bud, get us out of here" Hiccup said
Toothless nodded as he kept flying through the cave and even managed to make the Death Song slam himself against a wall
Hiccup and Toothless quickly got out of the cave, where the Thunderdrum was waiting and shot a sonic blast that weakened some rocks, so Toothless shot a plasma blast that made them fall and trapped the Death Song in the cave
"Yeah! Noce going, big guy! No one can hear his song in there" Hiccup said
They flew back to the forest where they saw the other riders flying towards them, along with the blue hatchling Thunderdrum
Both Thunderdrums were happy to be finally reunited, so they happily nuzzled each other
"If I were you two, I'd find another island, I don't know how long that's going to hold" Hiccup said
"Uh, you know they can't hear you, right?" Tuffnut asked
"Yes, Tuff, I know" Hiccup answered "Let's get out of here"
Minutes later, they were flying above the ocean
"Hey, gang, I just want to say I'm sorry for getting you into this" Hiccup apologized "If you want to turn back-"
"Are you kidding?" Astrid interrupted
"No way" Ruffnut agreed
"That was the most fun we'd had in years" Snotlout said
"In one way or another, we all missed this" Blake added
"There is one thing we need to do, though" Astrid said
"I'm all ears" Hiccup said
"We need an island, our own island" Astrid said
"Astrid's right, Hiccup, we're way too far out to travel back and forth to Berk" Fishlegs agreed
"What we need is a base of operations" Hiccup said
"Exactly, but this time we don't let the dragons pick it" Fishlegs said, making Meatlug look at him as she let out a small growl "Sorry, girl, it had to be said"
"Alright, Snotlout, you're the man of the hour of bringing the Mosntrous Nightmare gel, you choose" Hiccup said, looking at Snotlout
"Seriously?" Snotlout asked, not believing Hiccup
"Yeah, seriously" he answered
"That Monstrous Nightmare gel really saved us back there" Blake said
"Alright! What do you say, Fangster?" Snotlout said, looking at Hookfang who roared "Ha! Couldn't agree more. Into the great beyond!"
"The great beyond!" the other riders yelled as they flew behind Snotlout
