Belle opened the doors to the base fanning away the smoke. "Papa." Said belle coughing. "Maurice." Said Marie reaching the last step. "Papa." Said Belle seeing her father breaking out of the barrel. "This contraption." Said Maurice pulling the barrel down his waist including his pants. "Are you alright Maurice?" Said Marie putting her case down. "I'm fine and I'm just about done with this contraption." Said Maurice kicking his machine. "You always say that. Anyways Marie is going to get some extra food and milk." Said Belle as Marie went in the house. "That's fine. Besides I'm never going to win first place in the fair." Said Maurice as Belle went behind him. "Come don't be like that. You're going to be winning first place and worlds greatest inventor." Said Belle. "Don't forget helping a lot of hard workers." Said Marie walking down the steps with the extra basket. "You two really believe that." Said Maurice. Belle moved to his left side smiling at him. "Always have." Said Belle. "We'll alright I'll give this one ago." Said Maurice rolling himself under the machine. Marie put the Basket aside as Leo wanted to play with her dress. "Can you get me the twisted pulley wrench." Said Maurice as Belle gave him the tool. Marie pulled her front dress up and clipped it almost up to her hips showing her black boots so she can sit on the small carpet. Leo looked at her curiously and leaped on her knees making Belle and Marie giggle.
"Papa, Marie do you think I'm odd." Said Belle sitting on a near by stool. "My daughter odd. What got you thinking like at." Said Maurice as Marie sighed. "Everyone in town been talking about it. Don't think like that. Everyone is unique by their own way." Said Marie scratching Leo's chest making him nibble on her fingers. "What about them Gaston and Richard fellows. They're pretty handsome." Said Maurice. "They're handsome alright. Rude and I don't know they don't seem be the ones for me." Said Belle as Leo was excited and ran pounced on her lap. "They're also sexist and disgusting." Said Marie still mad about those two. "That's should do it." Said Maurice standing up and made Belle stand back. He pulled the lever as the machine made a few noise as Leo jumped on Marie's arms tilting his head confused on what's going on. The machine started swinging the ad up and down cutting the log and flew into the wood pile behind them. "It worked." Said Maurice as his machine repeated the same action. "You did it. You really did it." Said Belle hugging him. "Girls pack up my things I'm off to the fair." Said Maurice without watching where the log was going.
After Belle and Marie said good bye to Maurice as he left to the fair. Marie went inside to grab her things while Belle grabbed her book to read. "I'll be back soon. Father needs help loading his crafts to our wagon." Said Marie putting her cloak on. "Alright Marie." Said Belle smiling at her. "Leo come on. Orion isn't going to be wandering around the village to look for you again." Said Marie as Leo squeaked at her. "You know Gaston and Richard will hurt you both if you they even catch a glimpse of one you." She says as the white fox lowered his ears. Leo growled and whined walking towards Marie as Belle chuckled at their little argument."I don't want to hear it or no fresh codfish." Said Marie as Leo crawled into her bag. Marie shook her head with a small smile on her face and walked out the door. She walked through the village after lowering her dress passing by the baker and the girls playing hopscotch.
"If it isn't the beautiful Marie." Said familiar voice. 'Just keep walking. Just keep walking.' Marie said in her head. Marie was almost out of the village until a hand grabs hold of her upper arm. "Let go or someone might get hurt." Said Marie turned to face Richard. "Stopping being hard to get and not on our wedding day." Said Richard leading her back to the village. Marie rolled her forrest green eyes ducked under his arms and continued her way to the woods. Richard tried to grab Marie again until someone threw an apple at his face. Marie turned around smiling at the apple pieces all over Richards face and looked around to see Benjamintossing an apple into the air and caught it. "Marie lets get going." Said Benjaminas Marie handed him the basket. The two walked as Richard whistled to get their attention. "Can you both at least reconsider joining cousin Gaston's wedding with Belle. Maybe Marie can be Belles bridesmaid." Said Richard until another apple flew to his face knocking him down on his back. "Good aim Marie. Your just like me when I was your age." Said Benjaminpatting her back. Benjaminand Marie walked back to the woods while Leo jumped out running to Orion who sat waiting for him at beginning of the woods.
An hour went by as Benjamin left to the fair as Sarah walked outside with Emily sleeping in her arms smiling at Marie playing her music but looked concern at something behind Marie. "Isn't that Belle?" Said Sarah. "Belle! What's wrong?" Said Marie as Philip calmed down. "Papa is gone. I'm worried something terrible happened to him." Said Belle. "Let me go with you. I know half of this land. If that's alright with you mother." Said Marie facing her. Sarah sighed and gave Emily to Marie to get something inside then came back with her violin case, satchel, and an old bow and arrows. "No, I'm not Dad's bow and arrows." Said Marie. "Please take it. He would've want you to have it." Said Sarah trading the weapon for Emily. "Be careful." Said Sarah hugging Marie. "We will. Bye mother, Emily." Said Maire pecking both of them on the cheek. Marie climbed on Philip behind Belle as they immediately took off on the trail that Maurice used. Without them realizing that someone stood in the shadows witnessing the whole situation. "I can't wait to tell my dear old cousin." They said smirking and walked back to the village.
