The day had finally arrived. Ruby and Blake, armed with their camping gear (or rather, a massive pile of supplies Ruby had insisted on bringing), stood at the edge of a serene forest, ready to embark on their little getaway.

"I definitely didn't overpack this time," Ruby said confidently, adjusting the straps of her bulging backpack, which was stuffed with more marshmallows than seemed physically possible.

Blake, standing beside her with a single, compact bag slung over her shoulder, gave Ruby a skeptical glance. "That's what you said last time, and yet..."

"Last time was different!" Ruby declared, puffing out her chest. "I've got it all under control now. This is going to be the most organized camping trip ever."

Blake raised an eyebrow. "Organized?"

Ruby nodded vigorously. "Yep! I've got everything planned out: food, tent, snacks, more snacks... It's all here." She patted her oversized backpack proudly.

Blake let out a soft sigh but couldn't suppress the amused smile tugging at her lips. "Well, let's get to it, then."

The two of them trekked deeper into the forest, the sunlight filtering through the trees, casting a soft golden glow over the path. It was peaceful—exactly the kind of break they needed. Ruby, ever the chatterbox, filled the silence with excited commentary about everything from the quality of the marshmallows she brought to potential campfire songs they could sing later.

When they reached the perfect campsite, a small clearing near a gently flowing stream, Ruby immediately dropped her backpack with a loud thud, dust flying up as it hit the ground.

"Here we go! Prime camping real estate!" Ruby declared, surveying the area like an expert.

Blake, ever calm and efficient, set her bag down quietly and began to unpack her gear. She glanced over at Ruby, who was already fumbling with the tent poles, trying to make sense of them.

"Need help?" Blake asked, already knowing the answer.

Ruby waved her off. "Nope! I've got this. I am a tent-master. Just you watch."

Blake, unimpressed but entertained, watched as Ruby attempted to assemble the tent. Ruby, of course, managed to get the poles tangled, the tent fabric twisted in ways that didn't seem physically possible. At one point, she got herself wrapped up in the tent entirely, her muffled voice coming from within the pile of fabric.

"Blake! Help! The tent's attacking me!" Ruby cried out, her arms flailing from inside the collapsed mess.

Blake walked over, completely calm, and within seconds had untangled the fabric and freed Ruby from her self-imposed trap. "Maybe leave the tent to me?"

Ruby, pouting but grateful, nodded. "Fine... but I loosened it up for you!"

Blake gave a small smirk, expertly setting up the tent in just a few minutes while Ruby stood by, her hands on her hips, offering unneeded advice.

Once the tent was up and the campsite set, Ruby proudly gestured to the small fire pit she'd created. "Alright! All we need is to get this fire going, and we'll be ready for marshmallows!"

Blake glanced at the pit, then back at Ruby, who was already brandishing a lighter with a bit too much enthusiasm.

"Are you sure you should be the one in charge of the fire?" Blake asked cautiously.

Ruby grinned. "Relax, Blake! What could go wrong?"

A few moments later, as Ruby accidentally dropped the lighter into the kindling, a small puff of smoke rose from the pit.

"Uh... nothing to worry about!" Ruby quickly said, fanning the small spark until Blake stepped in, taking over before Ruby turned the entire forest into kindling.

With the fire finally lit properly and Ruby's enthusiasm only slightly dampened, the two of them settled around the warmth of the flames. The sun had begun to dip lower in the sky, painting the forest in hues of orange and red, and the peaceful sound of the nearby stream added to the tranquil atmosphere.

Ruby poked at the fire with a stick, grinning as she looked over at Blake. "See? This is nice. No responsibilities, no school, just the great outdoors... and marshmallows."

Blake nodded, her calm demeanor even more relaxed in the soft glow of the campfire. "It's definitely better than running around Beacon or dealing with missions."

Ruby leaned back, holding up a marshmallow on a stick. "Exactly! This is our chance to do whatever we want. Adventure, relaxation, both..."

Blake gave her a sidelong glance. "Just as long as we don't end up in another 'adventure' that involves nearly falling off a cliff."

Ruby grinned sheepishly. "No cliffs this time. I promise."

As they roasted their marshmallows and settled into the rhythm of their peaceful evening, the conversation drifted from one topic to another—memories of past missions, funny stories about Yang and Weiss, and even a few shared moments of quiet reflection on the loops they'd been through.

But then, as the night deepened and the fire began to dwindle, something in the distance caught Ruby's eye. A faint flicker of light, deep in the woods, barely visible through the trees.

"Hey, Blake, do you see that?" Ruby asked, sitting up a little straighter.

Blake followed Ruby's gaze, her expression unreadable. "Yeah... I see it."

Ruby's curiosity immediately kicked into high gear. "Wanna check it out?"

Blake sighed. "It's probably just someone else camping."

"Or it's a ghost," Ruby said, her voice dripping with excitement. "Come on, Blake! Let's just take a quick look."

Blake gave her a long, measured look. "Ruby, it's probably nothing."

Ruby pouted, bouncing up to her feet. "But what if it's something? Don't you want to at least see what it is?"

Blake sighed again, already knowing Ruby wasn't going to let this go. "Fine. But if it's just someone with a flashlight, we're coming straight back."

With that, the two of them grabbed their gear and headed off into the forest, Ruby leading the way with an excited bounce in her step while Blake followed with her usual calm, ready for whatever nonsense Ruby was about to drag them into next.

The forest was peaceful, with only the occasional rustling of leaves and distant chirping of insects breaking the silence. Ruby, however, was anything but quiet. She moved through the trees with her usual enthusiasm, every few steps muttering about ghosts, treasure, or some hidden ancient secret waiting to be discovered.

Blake followed just a few steps behind, her expression calm but her senses sharp, ever the cautious one. While Ruby's excitement was contagious, Blake couldn't help but feel slightly on edge. The lights they'd seen earlier had disappeared, but something about the situation felt... off. Still, Blake knew better than to try and rein Ruby in when her mind was set on adventure.

"You're sure it's not just another camper?" Blake asked, her voice cutting through the soft hum of the forest.

Ruby grinned over her shoulder. "Where's your sense of adventure, Blake? We might find something cool!"

Blake raised an eyebrow. "My sense of adventure is just fine. I'd prefer it if we weren't wandering through the forest looking for 'ghosts.'"

Ruby gave an exaggerated sigh. "It's not just ghosts! It could be... I don't know, hidden ruins! Or a secret passage! Maybe it's even an underground base."

Blake rolled her eyes, though the faint smile on her lips betrayed her amusement. "And what are the odds of that?"

"Pretty high, I'd say," Ruby replied, darting ahead as she spotted something in the distance. "Look!"

Blake followed Ruby's gaze and noticed what appeared to be a small, flickering light ahead. It wasn't bright enough to be a campfire, nor did it move like a flashlight. It was steady, glowing with an odd, ethereal quality. Blake frowned, her senses now fully alert.

"Alright," Blake muttered, moving up beside Ruby. "That is... unusual."

"See? Told you!" Ruby said, practically vibrating with excitement. "Let's check it out."

The two of them moved closer, the strange light becoming more visible as they neared a small clearing. Ruby, always the bold one, led the way, with Blake following close behind, her sharp eyes scanning the surroundings for any sign of danger.

When they reached the clearing, the source of the light became clear. In the center of the open space, a small, shimmering orb floated a few feet above the ground. It was no larger than a fist, glowing with a soft, bluish light that pulsed rhythmically, like a heartbeat. The air around it seemed to hum with a quiet, steady energy.

Ruby's eyes widened as she stared at the orb. "Whoa..."

Blake, however, narrowed her eyes, immediately cautious. "That's... definitely not normal."

Ruby, unbothered by Blake's caution, stepped closer, her curiosity piqued. "What do you think it is?"

"I don't know," Blake replied, her voice low. "But maybe we shouldn't get too close."

Ruby, of course, ignored that completely, taking a few more steps forward until she was standing right in front of the orb. "It's... kinda pretty, right?"

Blake stayed a few steps back, watching Ruby carefully. "Pretty or not, I don't think we should touch it."

"Touch it?" Ruby echoed, her hand hovering dangerously close to the glowing orb. "I wasn't going to touch it! ...Okay, maybe I was."

Blake shot her a warning look. "Ruby."

Ruby grinned sheepishly, lowering her hand. "Fine, fine. I won't touch it. But it's just sitting here! We can't just leave it."

Blake crossed her arms, still staring at the orb with suspicion. "And what exactly do you plan to do with it?"

Ruby scratched her head, clearly thinking hard. "Well... we could, uh... bring it back to the camp? Or maybe—"

Suddenly, the orb pulsed brighter, the blue light intensifying for a brief moment before dimming again. Ruby and Blake both froze, their attention fully locked on the orb.

"Okay, maybe it has other plans," Ruby said, her voice quieter now.

Blake stepped closer, standing beside Ruby. "Whatever it is, I don't think we should mess with it. It could be dangerous."

Ruby nodded slowly, her excitement tempered by a flicker of caution. "Yeah, maybe you're right. But... we can at least keep an eye on it, right? Just in case it does something cool."

Blake sighed but couldn't help the small smile tugging at her lips. "Fine. We'll watch it for a bit. But if it does anything strange, we're leaving."

"Deal!" Ruby agreed, practically bouncing on her heels.

The two of them sat down at the edge of the clearing, watching the orb as it continued to pulse with its soft, rhythmic light. Ruby kept her eyes glued to it, clearly waiting for something dramatic to happen, while Blake remained alert, her gaze shifting between the orb and the surrounding forest.

After a few minutes of quiet observation, Ruby leaned over toward Blake, whispering conspiratorially. "Do you think it's, like, some kind of magical artifact? Maybe it holds ancient secrets!"

Blake shook her head, her expression wry. "Or maybe it's just an odd phenomenon, and we should leave it alone."

Ruby pouted. "You never let me have any fun."

Blake gave her a sideways glance, amused. "This is fun. Just... slightly more cautious fun."

Ruby huffed but didn't argue, her gaze returning to the orb. "Fine, fine. We'll wait a little longer and see if anything happens."

They waited for several more minutes, but the orb remained the same—pulsing, glowing, and seemingly content to stay exactly where it was. Ruby, despite her initial excitement, began to lose some of her energy.

"Well, this is anticlimactic," she muttered, leaning back on her hands. "I was hoping it'd, like, explode or turn into a cool weapon or something."

Blake chuckled softly. "Not everything needs to explode to be interesting."

Ruby shot her a playful glare. "Says the girl who loves slicing things with her katana."

Blake smirked. "Fair point."

Just as they were about to give up and head back to their camp, the orb pulsed brighter again—this time for longer. Ruby and Blake both tensed, eyes widening as the orb seemed to swell for a brief moment before shrinking back to its original size.

"Uh... Blake?" Ruby whispered.

"I see it," Blake replied, her voice calm but cautious.

The orb's pulsing grew quicker, its light flickering faster and faster. Ruby and Blake both took a step back, ready to bolt if things went south. But then, just as quickly as the light had intensified, it faded back to its original state, the pulsing slowing down to a steady, calm rhythm once more.

Ruby blinked, her posture relaxing. "Okay, that was... weird."

Blake nodded, her gaze still fixed on the orb. "Maybe we should head back to camp. Whatever that was, it's best if we don't stick around to find out."

Ruby, surprisingly, didn't argue this time. "Yeah. Let's go."

With one last glance at the strange orb, Ruby and Blake turned and made their way back through the forest, their steps quick but quiet. The air felt heavier now, the weight of the mystery settling over them like a thin layer of fog.

As they reached their camp, Ruby couldn't help but glance back in the direction of the clearing. "That was kind of cool, though, right?"

Blake gave her a small nod. "It was... interesting. But let's not go looking for more strange glowing things tonight."

Ruby chuckled. "Deal. Tomorrow, we can go ghost hunting instead."

Blake sighed. "Of course."

Back at their camp, the fire crackled softly as Ruby and Blake sat down, their faces illuminated by the soft glow of the flames. Despite the stillness of the forest around them, the strange orb they had just witnessed lingered in both of their minds.

Ruby poked at the fire with a stick, her silver eyes reflecting the flickering light. "Okay, so that was... a little weird, right? Not just me?"

Blake, who was busy pouring tea from a small thermos, gave a slight nod. "Weird, yes. But also harmless... for now."

Ruby grinned, though it was clear she wasn't fully ready to dismiss the encounter. "Harmless and mysterious! I mean, who knows what that thing could be! Maybe it's part of some ancient technology, or maybe it's a signal from some hidden world! Maybe it's—"

Blake interrupted, taking a sip of her tea with a calm expression. "Or maybe it's just a strange light in the forest. We don't need to jump to conclusions."

Ruby pouted, leaning back on her hands. "You're no fun sometimes."

Blake raised an eyebrow, though a small smirk tugged at her lips. "Because I don't want to chase after glowing orbs in the middle of the night?"

Ruby crossed her arms. "It's not chasing. It's investigating. And besides, you were curious too."

Blake didn't deny it. She set her cup down and sighed. "Fine. I was curious. But I'd rather not end up in some dangerous situation just because we couldn't leave a strange light alone."

Ruby, ever the optimist, grinned. "Well, it's not like we're in danger now. Plus, if it was dangerous, I would've totally handled it. We make a great team, you know."

Blake gave her a sidelong glance, clearly amused. "I never said we didn't."

They sat in comfortable silence for a while, the sounds of the forest filling the space between them. The cool night air, the distant hooting of an owl, and the gentle crackling of the fire made the moment feel peaceful again—like the strange encounter earlier had never happened.

But Ruby, being Ruby, couldn't stay quiet for long.

"So," she said, turning to Blake with a mischievous grin, "since we're not ghost-hunting tonight, what should we do tomorrow? There's gotta be more cool stuff to explore out here!"

Blake rolled her eyes but smiled, knowing full well that Ruby's idea of 'cool stuff' usually meant getting into some kind of trouble. "You really don't want to relax on this 'vacation,' do you?"

"I can relax!" Ruby protested. "But I mean, we're out here in the wild, with no classes, no responsibilities—just us and the forest. We've gotta make the most of it!"

Blake leaned back against the log she was sitting on, her arms crossed over her chest. "Alright. What do you have in mind?"

Ruby's eyes lit up as she began listing off her ideas, counting them on her fingers. "We could check out that old ruins site in the mountains, or maybe go hiking up to the waterfall everyone talks about. Or—oh! What if we go searching for that rumored 'Grimm graveyard' people keep talking about?"

Blake raised an eyebrow. "Grimm... graveyard?"

Ruby nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah! It's supposed to be this place where tons of Grimm went to die, or something. Super spooky, super cool."

Blake sighed. "And you think that's a good idea?"

"Hey, it's an adventure!" Ruby replied, her grin wide. "And we're always ready for an adventure, right?"

Blake chuckled softly, shaking her head. "I don't know how you manage to stay so energetic."

"Comes with the job," Ruby said proudly. "Besides, you know you love it. Admit it."

Blake's smirk returned, though she tried to keep her expression neutral. "Maybe I tolerate it."

Ruby laughed, leaning back against the log next to Blake. "Good enough for me."

The fire crackled in front of them, and for a while, they sat in companionable silence once more. Ruby occasionally poked the flames, adding a few more twigs to keep it going, while Blake sipped her tea and kept watch over their surroundings.

Eventually, Ruby broke the quiet again, though her tone was a bit more thoughtful this time. "Do you ever wonder if the loops are... changing?"

Blake, surprised by the shift in conversation, glanced over at Ruby. "Changing how?"

Ruby shrugged, still staring into the fire. "I don't know. I just get this feeling, you know? Like... maybe things are different this time around. Little things. That orb, for example. We've never seen anything like that before, right?"

Blake considered this for a moment, her gaze thoughtful. "It's possible. We've been through so many iterations... I guess it wouldn't be impossible for something to shift."

Ruby leaned forward, resting her chin on her hands. "Yeah. Maybe this loop is gonna be different. Maybe it's not just a vacation loop after all."

Blake remained quiet for a moment, her mind turning over Ruby's words. There had been subtle differences here and there—small things that didn't add up compared to previous loops. But she had brushed them off, assuming they were just anomalies. Now, though, Ruby's words made her wonder if there was something more going on.

"I guess we'll find out," Blake finally said, her tone even. "But for now, let's just focus on enjoying this loop."

Ruby smiled at that, her usual optimism returning in full force. "Yeah, you're right. No need to overthink it. Let's just enjoy our break."

Blake smirked. "I think that's the first time you've said not to overthink something."

Ruby gasped in mock offense. "Hey! I'm capable of being chill!"

Blake raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Sure."

"Okay, fine," Ruby admitted, a sheepish grin spreading across her face. "Maybe I'm not great at it, but I can try."

Blake shook her head, chuckling softly. "That's all I ask."

As the fire began to burn lower, the two of them settled into the quiet once again. Despite the oddity of the orb and Ruby's constant stream of ideas for future adventures, there was a sense of peace between them. Whatever strange mysteries awaited them, they would face it together—just like always.

For now, though, the forest was calm, and their small camp was warm and inviting. Ruby and Blake let the stillness of the night settle over them, knowing that whatever tomorrow brought, they'd be ready for it.

And maybe, just maybe, they'd figure out the mystery of the orb. Eventually.
