Autobots Part 5

Team Prime, Part 5: The Dynobots

XXXXXX

The Lightning Strike Coalition Force, also known as the Dynobots for their unique alt-modes of extraterrestrial reptilian apex predators, are a 100-strong, incredibly destructive, mostly-loyal Autobot commando unit made up of a bunch of belligerent, bullheaded, and rebellious siblings, who handle the jobs that other Autobots don't have the stomach for (aside from the Wreckers). Before the Great War, the Dynobots were originally members of Cybertron's pre-war space defense force, the Primal Vanguard. Best known for their feats during the infamous Combatron Wars, the Dynobots were seen as model soldiers by their peers despite all of the beastformer discrimination around the time and them constantly disobeying their superiors. When the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons began, the Dynobots were reorganized into the Autobot ranks as the Primal Vanguard was absorbed into its nascently-formed space forces. Led by their field commander Grimlock, they aim to dominate air, land, and sea, and are without doubt the most dangerous unit that the Autobots have at their disposal.

However, they're still not above defying their higher-ups if the need arises. One such rebellion resulted in the team resulted in the team becoming captives of Shockwave, who experimented on them in order to advance his beastformer research by studying and reverse-engineering their beast modes, intended to turn them into mindless berserkers. Because of their systems were constantly picked apart, the Dynobots' brain modules were left very simple-minded and most, if not all, of them had extremely low tempers, and can occasionally speak in broken English. Some among their number would be given the ability to combine into the fearsome Volcanicus. The Dynobots managed to escape Shockwave's lab, but not without any losses. Their spark-brother, the kind and intelligent medic Skar, would die fighting against the ancient Decepticon Seeker Sprawl, who was stationed there, so that his brothers and sisters will be have enough time to escape. After the loss of Skar, who was seen as the heart and soul of their family, the Dynobots gained a burning desire of vengeance against Sprawl. During Earth's final Ice Age, they followed Sprawl to the prehistoric planet, where they fought, however, an avalanche caused by their battle knocked them all into stasis. Sprawl and the Dynobots would be dormant for the most part until they were discovered in the modern day by the covert government organization Sector Seven, who wished to use the Dynobots (designated "Thunder Lizards") as attack drones against the warring Cybertronians on Earth, only for them to eventually break out of their conditioning and join Team Prime. The Dynobots are now usually stationed at Dynobot Island, a fortified group of islands in the Southern Pacific Rim inhabited by the last surviving bastion of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures on Earth, which was also the crash-site of their starship, the Dominator-class Converted Shuttle Malevolent Fist. Optimus has divided the Dynobots into two small squadrons: Alpha Team, led by Grimlock, and Omega Team, led by Grimstone.

Most of them, especially Grimlock, dislike Autobot Supreme Commander Optimus Prime for his conservative tactics, so whether or not they follow the Autobot leader's orders depends on what those orders are. This attitude extends to the rest of the Autobot Army, with most being viewed as too weak or cowardly to take the steps needed to get the nastier jobs done. Only a handful of individuals are viewed by the Dynobots as true allies and even they don't really understand them. This attitude has very much pushed the Dynobots to the fringes of Autobot society, which has resulted in an extremely powerful sense of camaraderie and familial connection among the team. Few Autobots are closer. As so many battered, bruised and beaten Decepticons can attest, if you confront one Dynobot, you confront them all.

DYNOBOT ALPHA TEAM

Volcanicus (Function: WARRIOR) - When all eight Dynobots combined into one, Volcanicus become a simple-minded yet strong and mightiest warrior. He might not be the intelligent, he is not afraid to stand and fight any warriors, even though he might be outmatched against the powerful or intelligent being. Unlike any other Autobot Combiner, Volcanicus doesn't act heroically as the Dynobots resent authority. In fact, he can be just as or even more brutal and ruthless than any Decepticon. He's also very arrogant, a trait that can be easily exploited by Megatron or Gelgastorm and turn him against the Autobots in the Cons' favor. Despite his uncontrollable rage; he is a strong, brave and loyal warrior, who would fight till his last breathe to protect his allies and defeat his enemies. He's equipped with twin fist blasters that can fire rapid machine bolts and an arm-mounted flamethrower. He also has his Dino Blazing Broadsword that can cut down almost everything, especially metal. His most powerful weapon is his own Primal Rage that will strengthen his strength and powers to fight his enemies. Regardless if he's outnumbered and/or outmatched, Volcanicus will not back down and will kill anything that stands in his way until his flames within burn out.

- Grimlock (Function: DYNOBOT COMMANDER) - Among all of those in the Autobot ranks, Grimlock is the one bot who draws the most concern and interest. As the Dynobots' fearsome leader, he is a frightenedly cold and merciless yet effective warrior and a valiant commander at heart who's utterly dedicated to those under his command. Optimus often wonders if Grimlock wouldn't be more suited to lead the Autobots through this messy war, considering his battlefield experience and willingness to make difficult and ruthless military decisions. Although loyal to the Autobot cause, Grimlock is extremely disobedient to Optimus Prime, and seems to think that he'll make a better leader of the Autobots than Prime would be, often breaking off the ranks to form his groups to deal with the Decepticon menace whenever Autobot High Command is too weak and counterproductive to do anything, such as those times when he formed the Autobot Earthforce and the Firestormer Alphastrike Counterforce. He constantly flouts authority from his superiors, and that attitude is reflected in his fellow Dynobots, who act more like a street gang than a military unit. He has great contempt for the weak, including all humans; questions why Prime would waste the Autobot Commonwealth's time and resources in forming relations with a bunch of whiny fleshies who'll only slow them down in the end when they should be eliminating their enemies. He possesses great strength, some may say that he's even stronger than Optimus. In dino mode, his jaws are capable of cutting an armored Transformer in two in one swipe. In robot mode, he carries an energo-sword and galaxial rocket launcher that fires both explosive plasma and shrapnel rounds. Other than his arrogance and lack of speed, Grimlock has no real weakness. Some wonder why Optimus still tolerates Grimlock after all these stellar cycles of dealing with his antagonistic behavior. While he doesn't share this info to anyone, Optimus truly sees great things in Grimlock, but understands that he's not yet suited to lead the Autobots. The very things that make him a "better soldier" than Prime - his mercilessness and his hatred to all those weaker than him - are the tools of their enemies. Optimus Prime hopes that one day Grimlock realizes that the Autobots must not become like the Decepticons in order to beat them. Grimlock transforms into a robotic Tyrannosaurus Rex. He forms the upper torso of Volcanicus.

Grimlock would become one of the many, many casualties of an Underbase-powered Starscream, and would wound up on spark support in Ratchet's repair bay. In order to deal with a new Decepticon counteroffensive led by Skorponok, he was among the few Autobots who were recommissioned as Pretenders. Now as Classic Pretender Grimlock, he's much more nastier than he ever was before now that he's constantly reminded that he now resembles a human. His Pretender shell is equipped with a jetpack and an atom-smashing submachine gun that pierces all armors and eats away enemy fortifications. Grimlock's inner robot form is armed with a double-barreled, self-propelled rocket launcher. In his dinosaur mode, he has serrated steel jaws that can tear through solid rock and jet boosters in his legs that provide limited flight capabilities.

By the 24th century, following the Great Upgrade, Grimlock was among the small number of Autobots who allowed themselves to be reformatted by Vector Sigma to become Maximals. He was less than thrilled with Cybertron's new era of total peace after the signing of the Pax Cybertronia, as he no longer had an outlet for his warlike tendencies. As such, he frequently volunteered for any dangerous, potentially risky, or outright suicidal missions given by the Maximal Command Security Force, and when forced on to a science or exploration vessel, he preferred to spend the entire trip in stasis, rather than dealing with the prolonged inactivity. He had a personalized reformatting chip installed that deliberately seeks out only the strongest, deadliest beast modes (alive or extinct) on a planet. This would result in him becoming many of the protoforms aboard the time-travelling Maximal starship Axalon as it crash-landed on prehistoric Earth alongside the Predacon ship Darksyde, leading to him becoming a combatant of the Beast Wars. Now, as Beast Upgrade Grimlock, the former Dynobot Commander battles against interstellar tyranny as he fights alongside Optimus Primal's Maximals against the evil Predacons led by the self-proclaimed warlord Megatron. After converting from his new alt-mode as a feathered Tyrannosaurus Rex to robot mode, his spinning slasher sword - hidden within his tail - slices through the Predacon legions. And when the attack is over, you can usually find him flossing his fangs with the internal wiring of his battle-beaten enemies.

- Slug (Function: FLAMETHROWER) - Slug is disruptive and foul-tempered, even compared to his comrades in the Dynobots. Anarchic, he rejects any orders that don't come from Grimlock. Slug is always angry, and only violence seems to release his pent-up energies as he often relishes in melting Decepticons into pools of liquid metal with his fire breath. If he has no enemies to smash, Slug wanders off to punch holes in the sides of mountains or even fellow Autobots whom he finds irritating. Slug shoots 3000 degrees Celsius flame up to 80 feet from mouth. He possesses enormous strength - some accounts say that he can shatter a building with his head in dinosaur mode. In robot mode, he wields an energo-sword and an electron gun that fires particle bursts that can tear through most Transformer armor. Slug isn't too bright or fast, and his abusive and mean-spirited attitude limits the number of Autobots who are willing to help him in combat situations. He isn't too kind to insults from either his comrades or his enemies, especially when he's called "Slag". Slug transforms into a robotic Triceratops. He forms the left arm of Volcanicus.

- Sludge (Function: JUNGLE WARRIOR/DEMOLITIONS) - "Sludge dumb" is how Grimlock himself describes the plodding Autobot. The Dynobots have a perhaps undeserved reputation for being dimwitted, but Sludge is the genuine article. He makes the others look like scholars in comparison. Gentle and shy, Sludge would rather spend time relaxing by water and learning about the Earth's animals rather than fighting Decepticons. However, in battle, he's a terrifying and unstoppable warrior. None of the Dynobots really like Optimus Prime, but Sludge's one of the few who shares an especially intense dislike for him alongside Slug. Sludge believes that the strongest should lead, and in his mind, Grimlock is the strongest Autobot. But Sludge genuinely believes in the Autobot cause, so he tolerates Prime. Beyond that, Sludge is actually what you might call nice...maybe not to Swoop's or Paddles' level, but nicer than the other guys. He genuinely wishes to make friends with his fellow Autobots in Team Prime, but he doesn't understand that they're afraid of him due to him and his spark siblings' unruly behavior. He can exert 40,000 psi via feet - enough to shatter an entire bridge. Sludge has immense strength and endurance, and is adept at fighting in water, swamp, and jungle. He's also equipped with an energo-sword and an ion laser rifle. He's very slow and dim, leading to him becoming the victim of the calamities he causes as he's left vulnerable to counterattack. Sludge transforms into a robotic Diplodocus. He forms the right leg of Volcanicus.

- Snarl (Function: DESERT WARRIOR) - Snarl often says silent, biding his time unhappily. This loner prefers to let others handle the strategic side of warfare and considers it his job to just go wherever Grimlock tells him and fight. This makes him the Dynobot Commander's favorite on the battlefield. Separated from the beloved metallic plains of his homeworld and having deep insecurities towards his alt-mode which he finds tragically hideous, Snarl's sole respite and joy come from being locked in do-or-die combat with the only things he hates more than himself: the Decepticons. The large golden plates on his spinal assembly are solar collectors as his strength increases tenfold in sunlight. However, Snarl can get too cocky and forgets about his relative weakness without added solar power, which may lead him to bite off more he can chew. Snarl's tail can shatter a 20-foot concrete cube. Snarl is armed with an energon blade, a missile launcher, and a long-range ion laser rifle. His armored hide resists most missile attacks. Snarl is vulnerable to nighttime attacks due to his weaker state. He can be very slow and his uncooperative nature hinders others from helping him. Snarl transforms into a robotic Stegosaurus. He forms the left leg of Volcanicus.

- Swoop (Function: BOMBARDIER) - Before the war, when the Dynobots were still part of the Primal Vanguard, Swoop was originally designated as Divebomb, Cybertron's well-known high-flying gal. However, one day, she had a run in with a member of the Predacon criminal gang, who defeated her in battle and stole her name, forcing her to change it. To this day, Swoop and Divebomb still maintain their rivalry over this dispute. Despite these misgivings, she's the friendliest and most outgoing of the Dynobots, often acting as their liaison to Team Prime. Even though she's able to get along with them better than the rest of the Dynobots, she still agrees with her spark siblings' belief that Optimus Prime is an ineffective leader. Some Autobots are put off by Swoop's horrifying pterosaur alt-mode and her loyalty to her team, both of which often disguise her seemingly out-of-place kindness and good-natured personality. This secretly saddens Swoop, but this sorrow is outweighed by her dedication to her family within the Dynobots. She can fly at 250 mph. Swoop's air-to-air missile launcher under each wing fires missiles equivalent of 5,000 lbs of TNT, 8 mile range. She can also use the launchers in robot mode, as well as a thermal sword that can heat up to 4,000 degrees Celsius and is capable of slicing through most Decepticon armor plating. She's also highly fuel-efficient. Her wings are thin and weakly armored, making them vulnerable to enemy artillery fire. Swoop transforms into a robotic Pteranodon. She forms the right arm of Volcanicus.

- Scorn (Function: DEMOLITIONS SPECIALIST) - Scorn is what happens when you combine a destructive war machine with a predator. Nothing else so much as a destroyer on two legs, she's strong and massive. Scorn has a fiery temper, unlike the other Dynobots, she has learned to control her rage so it wouldn't consume her, and channel her super strength through other methods, often meditating to retain her sense of calm. As the Dynobots' demolitions specialist, she enjoys smashing and blowing up everything, especially enemy weapons and transports. She likes her dinosaur mode because she's very big and stronger than others. Scorn has the special ability to use her spike-like saw cutter to throw like a boomerang to cut down an entire platoon of Decepticons. In robot mode, her tail can be used as a whip/drill sword called the Scrapmaker Sword. She can be quite impatient and stubborn as she dislikes having to wait to blow something up for too long. Scorn transforms into a robotic Spinosaurus. She forms the lower torso of Volcanicus.

- Slash (Function: ASSASSIN) - Slash is surprisingly sneaky for a Dynobot. Skilled in the arts of stealth and tracking, she can cut down her target without getting detected or hunt down her next victim with ease. While fearsome, Slash at heart is a worrisome scaredy-cat with psychopathic tendencies, who can get easily panicked and will attack everyone and everything (both allies and enemies) around her without second thought. She doesn't like being called "small" due to her size - trust me, never make a joke about Slash being short if she's in the room. She's quite a fast talker. Equipped with twin cyber scythes and raptor claws, Slash can cut through anything including the strongest metals. Slash is extremely claustrophobic - whenever she's trapped in small spaces, her anxieties and fears spike up, resulting in her going mad running around in high speed. Unless she calms herself down, she'll lose a lot of energon until she has gone into stasis lock. Slash transforms into a robotic Utahraptor. She forms the head of Volcanicus.

- Velocirazor (Function: SCOUT) - Velocirazor is a Deployer Minicon who's been a companion of the Dynobots since as long as he can remember. Before the war, he was a veloci-ronin from the Cybertronian colony world of Jyura, a samurai warrior who happens to be a dinosaur. However, he would lose his master and many of his friends when his colony was caught in the crossfire of the Combatron Wars. While he lost his family, he would gain a new one when he joined the Dynobots in battle for the remainder of the conflict. Trained in the ancient Jyuran martial arts, Velocirazor relies on basic survival instincts in order to survive alien environments and combat Decepticons. Despite his ruthlessness, Velocirazor can be very friendly and playful to the other Autobots and their human friends. He takes great care of the finely-honed talons that are the tools of his martial trade. There's nobody better in a fight, but he's a little too concerned with making sure everybody sees him taking down his enemies with no trouble. Velocirazor resembles a robotic Troodon. He forms a short sword for Volcanicus and can be used an extra weapon for the other Dynobots.

DYNOBOT OMEGA TEAM

Grimstone (Function: BOMB DISPOSAL) - Grimstone is power-hungry for an Autobot, longing for the privilege great power brings. Despite this making him sound like a Decepticon, he knows the purpose of power is protecting the weak, and that it brings with it the responsibility to put others first. It's unclear if making him the leader of his own team of Dynobots satisfied Grimstone's ambitions, but the benefits of his new position have certainly made him strong enough to protect the less fortunate. In dinosaur mode, Grimstone's horns are specially treated and they have not yet found a substance they haven't been able to smash through yet when he is at his top speed. He possesses enormous strength and durability, and just as violent as the Cons (The Autobots are extremely glad that he's on their side). Grimstone is specially trained in disarming and disposing bombs and other explosive devices. Besides deactivating bombs, he would also safeguard stores of disabled bombs in hostile conditions, such as during the middle of a battle. While he has his trusty energon mace and dual ion pistols, he prefers to fight in his alt-mode though he doesn't have grip in that form. Grimstone transforms into a robotic Styracosaurus.

XXXXXX

Strafe (Function: SHOCKTROOPER) - Strafe (no relation to the male Technobot with the same name) is a walking definition of a religious fanatic. A devoted follower of the Way of Flame originating from the theocratic Cybertronian colony world of Caminus, she's obsessed with doing the will of Primus, but other Autobots don't think that Primus would agree with the way Strafe does his will. She's the worst kind of psychopath - she thinks she can justify what she can do. None of the other Dynobots are exactly perfect citizens, but at least their sparks are in the right place. Strafe just likes to kill and use her beliefs as an excuse. If it weren't for the war, she'd be in prison. Now on Earth, she seems more devoted to Primus. She says she feels close to Primus back on Cybertron, but now she's far away from the homeworld she gets to show her belief by fighting harder to completely destroy the Decepticon "heretics". In dinosaur mode, she has big long claws that she can charge with energon, greatly increasing their destructive potential. In robot mode, Strafe is armed with an energon longsword and dual clawed gauntlets. She has above strength and endurance, and at times appears to the smartest Dynobot, though her unrelenting belief in old fashioned ghost stories from the mythologized Age of the Primes makes it hard for others to believe. Strafe is a hard femme to like. Her views are a bit too extreme - even the other religious bots, the Mistress of Flame and her Forgefire Parliament, have banished her from their great temples and churches on Caminus when the Dynobots visited the colony long ago. Strafe transforms into a robotic Therizinosaurus.

XXXXXX

Paddles (Function: DEEP SEA WARRIOR) - Paddles is a friendly bot who enjoys swimming and cooling off in large ponds, lakes, or rivers. Unlike the other Dynobots, he's a gentle giant and is friendly to the other Autobots and sometimes likes being around humans too. However, when stirred to action, Paddles fights valiantly and furiously to defend others. Paddles possesses immense courage and exceptional underwater capabilities. In robot mode, he's armed with a laser-guided harpoon gun which also serves as a grappling hook for assaults, restraint for prisoners, and a close-quarter striking weapon. In dinosaur mode, Paddles is armed with a pair of turbine torpedo tubes with 60 reloads each. Multiple hydro-jets on his flippers can propel him to speeds up to 500 knots when submerged. On land, Paddles can be slow and cumbersome in his plesiosaur alt-mode. Paddles transforms into a robotic Elasmosaurus.

XXXXXX

Airraptor (Function: SURVEILLANCE/SHARPSHOOTER) - A pinpointing perfectionist, Airraptor is the most meticulous member of the Dynobot team. His attention to detail and eagle eye precision is a result of serving as the team's interplanetary surveyor and navigator aboard their personal starship, the Malevolent Fist. He's incredibly fast, capable of soaring up to 250 mph. Airraptor characteristically dive-bombs or strafes a Decepticon detachment, usually flying past his target before his ammunition makes impact. Though extremely dexterous, Airraptor's fragile wings are vulnerable to enemy firepower. In robot mode, he packs a quick-deploying energy destabilizer pistol. Airraptor transforms into a robotic Microraptor.

XXXXXX

Paris (Function: SCOUT) - All teenagers are the same, no matter what planet they're from. The Dynobots get bored of Paris and ignore her like she wants them to. This also gets her angry too. Despite her attitude, she is a very aggressive yet effective fighter with high strength and endurance, and relishes in having a good fight against the Cons. Whenever Paris isn't fighting Decepticons, she just sits in her quarters aboard the Malevolent Fist with the lights turned off and listening loud Earth music, which she does to piss off the other Dynobots. She's armed with an electro-cannon and has an invisibility field that allows her to blend in with dark environments. In dinosaur mode, Paris' headcrest can be charged with electricity that can be used as a weapon. She's also quicker in her dino mode. Like every other typical adolescent, Paris is hard to get along with. She believes everything the elder Dynobots do is designed to piss her off, and they think everything she does is designed to piss them off. Paris transforms into a robotic Parasauropholus.

XXXXXX

Comera (Function: COMMANDO) - Comera is the tomboyish Dynobot femme, along with her spunky twin sister Echera. She likes showing off and getting into trouble. Comera is an elite commando, doing sneak attacks on Decepticons from out of nowhere. She uses the largest and strongest Dynobots as a distraction, while her and the other smaller Dynobots (i.e. Slash, Velocirazor, and Airraptor) outflank and attack. Because of this, Comera named herself as the unofficial leader of the Dynobots' "Raptor Squad". Grimlock and Grimstone don't have any problem with this, because the raptor bots do what she says despite the long list of trouble she has gotten herself and others involved in. She's a good marksman with her laser blaster and a good melee fighter with her energon longsword. In dinosaur mode, she can rip any bot apart with her claws and teeth. Comera constantly gets herself into trouble during many missions, that she requires her sister to pull her out of it. Comera transforms into a robotic Deinonychus.

XXXXXX

Echera (Function: DEMOLITIONS) - Comera's twin sister Echera has spunk and is ready to fight dirty against Decepticons. Out of all of the female Dynobots, Echera would rather fight using her fist and her head, both figurately and literally. This causes some bots to think that she's brain dead, but she isn't. She's just determined to finish a fight that she has gotten into. In dinosaur mode, Echera can super charge her skull with acoustic energy and unleash it every time she rams into a target. She's also good with a standard-issue energon short sword and a photon rifle. Echera has no known physical weaknesses - she's strong, tough, skillful, and aggressive. The other Dynobots say that she doesn't have any teeth, but the rest of her head's tough enough that she doesn't need them. Echera transforms into a robotic Pachycepholosaurus.

XXXXXX

Slam (Function: WARRIOR) - Slam is one of the strongest Dynobots, able to punch a hole into almost anything. He's also a quiet mech. Slam is a tough nut who doesn't give in to anger easily like most of the other Dynobots such as Grimlock or Slug, as he's a defensive warrior who uses his strength to protect his comrades. If Slam did get angry...let's just say that Dynobot Island would become a smoldering heap of rubble. In dinosaur mode, Slam's tail can hard targets as hard as he punches them. He's covered in armor and able to withstand most incoming artillery and laser fire. His main weapons are his war mace and a sonic blaster rifle, but he prefers fighting with his bare hands. Slam is slow and not much of a marksman. Slam transforms into a robotic Ankylosaurus.

XXXXXX

Skimmer (Function: AIR SUPPORT) - Skimmer looks at her fellow Dynobots and despairs. She seems to abhor bluster and unnecessary noise, and even tries to avoid any loud noises unless it's absolutely needed. A quiet femme, she is able to unleash surprise attacks on unsuspecting Decepticons. In pterosaur mode, her teeth allow her to latch onto a Decepticon before she unleashes her optical blasts on them. In robot and dinosaur mode, Skimmer can fire waves of concussive energy from her eyes that can burn through 18 inches of steel plating. She also has average strength, endurance, and above average intelligence. She carries air-to-air missiles and uses an energon saber. There are times when listening to the explosive-happy Dynobots blow something up and bragging about it - when Skimmer considers just flying off Dynobot Island and never coming back. Skimmer transforms into a two-headed robotic Dsungaripterus.

XXXXXX

Scorch (Function: CHEMICAL WARFARE) - Scorch doesn't have much ambition, but he's got it. He hopes to promoted into the leader of his own special combat team, always trying to impress Optimus Prime and Grimlock by telling them what he did in battle, how many Decepticons he crushed or burned. They think that he's fighting harder just to show them, so they're happy with Scorch staying where he is in the unit. In dinosaur mode, Scorch spits out highly inflammable liquid that combust on contact with metal and burn at 5000 degrees. A strong and clever warrior, he's good with his energon dagger and laser rifle. Scorch has a rivalry with Grimstone as he wishes to take his place as leader of the Dynobots' Omega Team. Scorch transforms into a robotic Dilophosaurus.

XXXXXX

Typhoon (Function: ARTILLERY) - The Dynobots love Typhoon's attitude of blowing stuff up. In fact, the whole reason why he joined the military in the first place is "to blow slag up", according to accounts from his recruiter in the Primal Vanguard. He spends his free time either flying above Earth's major shipping lanes or swimming around the waters of Dynobot Island, looking for Decepticons to come for him so he can smash them. The largest of all of the Dynobots (around the same size of a Combiner or a Omega Sentinel), Typhoon's incredibly strong and violent. He's armed with a lot of big turret guns in robot mode and dinosaur mode. In dino mode, he has a huge mouth with huge teeth and he likes to bite. While his dino mode is efficient underwater, in it Typhoon can't walk on land like his fellow undersea operative Paddles. Typhoon is a perfect warrior physically, but his brains are a problem. He's too impatient and aggressive...maybe he likes to blow stuff up...a bit too much. After going through many weeks without blowing something up, Typhoon often relieves his boredom by scaring away passing cruise ships or oil tankers. This isn't good for the Dynobots' reputation (or "repamatation" as they try to pronounce it). Typhoon can transforms into a robotic Liopleurodon.

OTHER MEMBERS

Skar (Function: MEDIC - Deceased) - Skar was the tactical medic of the Dynobots during their time as soldiers of the Primal Vanguard, known to be a quick thinker and improvisor. Even before becoming a soldier, he always had the habit of trying to fight for what's right and only succeeded somewhat, which has lead to a jaded worldview on his part. Like the other Dynobots, Skar doesn't see Optimus Prime as a good leader for the Autobots due to his conservative views, but he's more rational than his comrades, often acting as a mediator during heated arguments between Prime and Grimlock. Although he's a medic first and foremost, Skar won't hesitate to attack and destroy Decepticons if it means protecting his family and friends. In dino mode, he's identical to Grimlock, but a little bit smaller. He's got a powerful crushing jaw lined with teeth and his claws are sharp too. Skar could chew up a ball of metal and spit it out like a cannonball. He's both strong and swift. His primary weapon is an energo sword, but he prefers to fight with his twin ion battle rifles. Skar was seen as the heart and soul of the Dynobots' family, but unfortunately, he was killed by the ancient Decepticon Seeker Sprawl when they escaped from Shockwave's captivity in the Sea of Rust. His death caused the other Dynobots to be overcome with grief and undying vengeance for what happened. Grimlock desires to kill Sprawl with his bare hands for the death of his spark brother, but in reality, he does blame himself for Skar's death because he dragged him into one of his unsanctioned missions and ignored his warnings. Skar transforms into a robotic Allosaurus.

XXXXXX

M.A.W. (Function: ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) - M.A.W. (short for Mechanized Automated Weapon) is a combat-oriented Cybertronian operating system who acts as the A.I. partner to the Dynobots. Her flexibility and tactical skill proved invaluable in boosting the combat ability of the Dynobots' starship, the Malevolent Fist, in many of their space-faring missions. She has a witty and playful personality, with a sarcastic sense of humor. M.A.W. frequently jokes with the Dynobots, and has found some of their inquiries about their new environment on Earth amusing in the way an older sister does their naive little brothers and sister.

Hi, guys! Sorry, if it took a while, but here's Part 5 of the Autobots and the final chapter on Team Prime, featuring everyone's favorites. Robots are cool. Dinosaurs are cool. Rebellious anti-heroes are cool. Ergo, is there anything cooler than rebellious anti-hero robot dinosaurs? Meet the Dinobots! My roster for the Dinobots is heavily based on Soundbluster's Shattered Glass Prime Dinobots along with my own additions made up of obscure characters and a few OCs. These guys will be separated into two teams: Alpha Team (made up of all the heavy-hitters and big names who can combine into Volcanicus) and Omega Team (made up of second-string characters who aren't well known but can still kick ass). I also made the Dinobots siblings.

Like in the IDW continuity, Dinobots is spelled with a "y" in this series.

The Lightning Strike Coalition Force (also known just the Lightning Strike Coalition or the Lightning Strikers) was originally introduced in Dreamwave Publishing's War Within comics as a sub-faction of Autobot commandos that Grimlock briefly led when Optimus Prime and Megatron mysteriously disappeared during the height of the Great War. The term would be reintroduced in Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and its tie-in material as the Dinobots' original team name before they were reformatted with beast modes by Shockwave. Here, the Lightning Strike Coalition Force is the team's official name, with "Dynobots" being a common nickname that they embraced over the years.

Grimlock's personality as an anti-authority military commander who often disobeys Autobot High Command and breaks rank is based on how Bob Budiansky, Simon Furman, and other writers wrote the character in the original run of the Marvel Comics Generation 1 continuity (both US and UK versions).

The mentioned Autobot Earthforce is a reference to a sub-title to the UK's run of Marvel's Transformers (#255-289) in 1990. Earthforce is a name of cell of classic Autobots (i.e. Bumblebee, Prowl, Ironhide, Silverbolt, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack, the Dinobots, etc.) commanded by Grimlock when he broke rank in order to better combat the rising threats of Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Shockwave, and their respective armies. Today, the Earthforce titles are largely considered to be secondary canon/non-canon material due to the appearance of certain characters such as Megatron, Shockwave, and most of the Autobots and Decepticons that went offline in the Underbase Saga, who were either dead and hadn't been resurrected yet or were believed to be dead but no indications of their eventual return haven't been conceptualized yet in the main comic.

The Firestormers were a team of gun-totting Autobots led by Grimlock that fought against Jhiaxus's Cybertronian Empire in the first few issues of Marvel's Transformers: Generation 2 comicbook. The Firestormers would occasionally be referenced over the years, as such in the marketing material of the War of Cybertron: Siege toyline, where they were renamed the "Autobot Alphastrike Counterforce".

Beast Upgrade Grimlock is based off of the Beast Wars toy for Grimlock, but instead of a Velociraptor, he transforms into a feathered T-Rex.

Slag is instead called by his Aligned name "Slug".

Inspired by Soundbluster's SG Prime Dinobots, Sludge transforms into a Diplodocus instead of an Apatosaurus (I'm not getting into the Apatosaurus vs. Brontosaurus debate that has been going for years) and Strafe transforms into a Therizinosaurus.

Snarl's role as the Dinobots' brooding loner is based on his original G1 personality written by Budiansky.

Swoop is genderbent female like her Cyberverse counterpart. Like her Marvel G1 counterpart, Swoop's original name was Divebomb before the Predacon Divebomb took it.

Scorn is re-imagined as genderbent female.

I also changed Slash's and Airraptor's alt-modes from a Velociraptor and an Archaeopteryx respectively to a Utahraptor and a Microraptor. Also, for those who don't know Airraptor, he's a redeco of Beast Wars Neo Archadis who appeared in the 3H comics that explained that he was a member of a group of Maximal Dinobots created by the Oracle supercomputer from Beast Machines to fight against Megatron's Vehicons, with these new Dinobots being created from the DNA of Dinobot from Beast Wars.

Velocirazor was a Deployer Minicon Ninja from the Robots in Disguise (2015) toyline, but didn't appear in the cartoon.

Grimstone is an Autobot Commander from the Power Core Combiners toyline. His toy would later have a slight redeco as Grimmaster, an upgraded form of Kakuryu from Transformers Victory who appeared in the Transformers: United EX manga.

Strafe is based off of the female Camien/honorary Dinobot from the IDW continuity and her personality is a combination of Ibara Shiozaki from My Hero Academia and Scythe, a Dinobot OC made by F-for-feasant-design. (best known as that bloke with all the Dinobots)

Paddles appeared in 2004's Transformers Legends prose collection.

Paris, Scorch, and Typhoon are based off of Skulk, Spit, and Salvo, Dinobot OCs made by Feasant.

Comera and Echera are from Fansproject, with parts of their personalities based on two more of Feasant's OCs Sickle and Smite.

Slam is based off of Scowl from Robots in Disguise 2015, but his personality is based off another Feasant OC Slam.

Skimmer is from Kre-O Transformers. Her dino mode has two heads like Strafe from Age of Extinction.

Skar, the Dinobots' medic from IDW, transforms into an Allosaurus as my idea for this was conceptualized before his Legacy toy.

M.A.W., the operating system for the Dinobots' ship Malevolent Fist, is another idea borrowed from Feasant.
