Getting back to their separate lives had been complicated.

While Donna had returned to Harford to enjoy her summer with her parents and Marcus, Harvey had started working at the DA's office, and so far, it was going great, the lawyer having a promising future and already establishing himself as a talented lawyer. Unfortunately, if Harvey wanted to go back home for at least a weekend to see his family and Donna, because it was the beginning, he was working seven days a week, not allowing him to come back, and consequently, at the end of the summer, the redhead turned back to Yale to start her last year without having seen her boyfriend again. Even though they hadn't physically seen each other again, they called and texted each other constantly: in the morning, they got ready together, phones on speaker in the bathroom, chatting about everything and nothing, then on their way, Donna to go to school, Harvey to go to the DA's, then during the day, they called each other during their breaks or when Harvey left court and she didn't have class, only to FaceTime in the evening while eating together. If this arrangement wasn't perfect, it suited them as they accepted, because between a long-distance relationship and no relationship at all, the choice was quickly made: they were in love, and the only solution for the moment was this. But as the months went by, both of them noticed that they were talking to each other less and less. First, the day calls disappeared because he no longer had time given the amount of work Cameron Davis gave him, then it was the evening FaceTime because Harvey stayed later and later at the office and only came home when Donna was already asleep. Right after, it was in the morning when he got up earlier than her and arrived at the office before she even woke up. They missed each other terribly, and things were becoming more and more complicated. One day, when it was almost midnight and he was immersed in a file, he heard a knock at his door.

«Nadia?»

«Mr. Specter»

«What are you still doing here?»

«I was waiting for you»

«You don't have to, go home»

«After a drink?»

«What?»

«Come on, you work all the time, you deserve to relax, right? And I can help you with that, you know»

«Sorry, no»

«Why? Someone's waiting for you at home?»

«Sort of»

«That doesn't make sense. Yes or no?»

«She's waiting for me at Yale, but I'm hoping she'll join me here as soon as she finishes her studies»

«What if she doesn't come?»

«She will»

«You know long-distance relationships never work, right?»

«For us, it works because we're in love and we'd rather be away from each other than not together»

«That's cute — anyway, my proposal still stands. Think about it, alright?»

«Goodnight, Nadia»

Seeing the brunette leaving his office, he sighed as he thought. He needed Donna, he needed to be able to hold her against him, to nuzzle his face in her neck to smell her comforting scent, to feel her fingers slide through his hair, her lips gently resting on his forehead, and most of all, he needed her naked in his bed, to be able to make love to her passionately and fierily to relieve the pressure while showing her through his gestures how much he loved her and was obsessed with her, he needed to come into her and have the feeling that she was his and only his, forever, and that she would never leave him, that he would find himself alone — he just needed her, but she wasn't there. That's when he started drinking whiskey. After winning yet another lawsuit, his client had given him a bottle as a thank you, and if he had advised him to taste it, that night, he went home and drank a few glasses to calm his anxieties and finally sleep. The next day, when Donna woke up, she sighed when she saw an audio message from Harvey that he had sent at two in the morning and where his voice suggested that he had been drinking a little.

«Hey, I'm sorry I didn't give you an update today, I was swamped and I didn't see the time go by. Um, I'm home right now, and I admit I'm a little tipsy. A customer gave me a bottle of whiskey that I'm enjoying alone, hoping that you'll be there — even though I know you hate it. I wanted to tell you that I love you, Donna. Living here without you is complicated, and every day I fall asleep thinking about you because I miss you so much. It's been five months since we last saw each other in person, and I can't wait for Christmas to see you. I miss you so much. I love you; you have no idea, you're the woman of my life, and I can't wait for you to join me in New York. I love you»

God, she missed him so much too, and being far from him was hard, but he was right, Christmas was in a month, she just needed to focus on her exams to finally be able to see him again. The weeks passed, and while Harvey was winning case after case, he was excitedly counting down the days before he would be reunited with Donna, and if his departure for Hartford was scheduled for three days in order to stay there for only two short days, it was without counting on Cameron Davis, who was waiting for him in her office.

«Oh, Mr. Davis, can I help you?»

«Yeah, John Farmer case, have you heard of it?»

«Of course, the King of the Street?»

«Exactly. The case is yours»

«What?»

«What don't you understand?»

«Mr. Davis, it's... huge?»

«I know, but you're talented, and you're going to win this case, I'm sure. However, I'm warning you, the trial is in two weeks, and in the meantime, you're going to spend your days and nights here, so cancel all your plans because now you'll be devoted to winning against Farmer»

«What? But I absolutely have to go home for Christmas»

«Well, tell your chick that she'll wait a little longer before seeing you again»

Without a word, Cameron Davis left his office, leaving Harvey alone, who was doing everything to hold back his tears. He couldn't believe it, he wasn't going to go home for Christmas, and especially, he wasn't going to see Donna, and the very idea made him want to die and send everything to hell to join her at Yale. So after calming down, he got to work, dreading the moment when he would have to tell her, and as he took a break, looking at a photo booth picture of the two of them taken in New York during her short stay, he couldn't help but smile sadly. In the first one, Donna was sitting on his lap, Harvey holding her by the waist as they both smiled at the camera, then in the next one, they were looking at each other lovingly, the redhead's hand resting in his still mid-length hair, while in the third, their lips were brushing, revealing a big smile while Donna's two arms were around his neck, and finally, in the fourth picture, they were kissing, their features relaxed, as if the weight of the world had been removed from their shoulder. If he was completely lost in his thoughts, he was interrupted by someone knocking on the door.

«Jessica»

«Hello, Harvey. I hope I'm not disturbing you»

«No, no, of course, not»

«What were you looking at?»

«What? Nothing?»

«Oh please, I might be your futur boss, but I'm still human, and right now, I can see something is bothering you. So?»

«Cameron Davis put me on a case, and I'm not going to be able to go home for Christmas»

As she took the picture from his hand, she smiled sadly before whispering.

«When was the last time you saw her?»

«This summer»

«And I guess she's the one waiting for you at home for Christmas»

«Yeah»

«And where is she now?»

«Yale. But she's going back to Hartford tomorrow»

«Yale?»

«Yeah, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism»

«You're dating a Theater kid?»

«I do, yeah»chuckled Harvey.

«What's her name?»

«Donna»

«And how long have you been together?»

«Officially, I'd say six months, but unofficially, she took my heart almost three years ago»

«And why doesn't she join you here in New York?»

«It's complicated»

«And why is that?»

«She's my little brother's best friend, so no one but my dad knows we're together, if she's coming here, he'll start to ask questions»

«Well, you didn't take the easy way out»

«Yeah, right?»sighed Harvey.

«Hey, do you mind if I tell you something?»

«No, sure, go ahead»

«If you want to get where I think you want to go and become a great New York lawyer, you can't let yourself be overwhelmed by emotional nonsense like your high school sweetheart»

«She's not my high school sweetheart»

«Harvey, don't take it that way, you didn't get what I— »

«No, you don't get it. She's not just my first girlfriend, high school sweetheart, or whatever, she's way more than that. She's the one who soothes me, who keeps me sane, who reassures me, and who encourages me to be the best version of myself. I mean, do you remember me when we met? I was a real little prick who just wanted to have fun, but today, I'm not the same thanks to her. She's the love of my life, I mean, I'm going to marry her at some point»

«She must be really different»

«She is»

«Alright. Look, what's the case?»

«John Farmer»

«You know what I'm going to say, Harvey»

«That this is a golden opportunity and that I absolutely have to focus on it»

«Call Donna and explain to her»

With those last words, she left the room, closing the door behind her to leave him alone in his office while he grabbed his phone to sadly look at his wallpaper, a selfie of him and Donna where their cheeks were crushed together and she placed a kiss on the corner of his lips. Reluctantly, he dialed the number he had memorized over time, his heart breaking when her voice rang out.

«Harvey, hey»

«Donna»

«What's going on?»

Immediately, she felt that something was wrong.

«I won't be able to make it»

«What?»

«I can't»

«What are you talking about?»

«Christmas, Donna»

For a few seconds, no one said anything before Harvey murmured with sobs in his voice.

«I'm so sorry»

«Hey, Harvey. It's fine, alright?»

«No, it's not»

«It is, come on, I'm sure it's not your decision»

«There is this big case I have to defend in court in two weeks, and if I win, it can help me with my career, but I won't be able to come back to you. I have so much to do»

«I understand»

«Donna, I —»

«It's alright, I swear Harvey. I know how your career is important, and if you think that working on this case can help you, do it»

«But I won't be able to come»

«I know, it's fine. What's a few more months?»chuckled Donna.

«I miss you so much»whispered Harvey.

«I miss you too»

«I wish you were here with me»

«Soon, Harv»

She didn't have the heart to remind him that she might never come to New York, but hearing the sadness and despair in his voice, she wanted to give him a modicum of hope, something to lean towards. While he was silent, she continued to speak.

«Hey, you want to talk to me about your case?»

For almost twenty minutes, they talked until the call ended and everyone went back to their lives. The next day, when his eyes were burning from reading so many reports, his heart sank when he saw that she had sent him a picture of herself with her down jacket and her beanie in front of Union Station with a big smile and a message underneath.

I was so hoping you'd be here. I think about you a lot. I love you.

After that, it was hard to concentrate, but he had no choice, so he continued to work and read again and again to be ready for his trial. Meanwhile, when Gordon had picked her up at the station, the older Specter had hugged the redhead before whispering.

«I'm sorry he couldn't come»

After that, they talked a little more about everything and nothing, especially about the lawyer's new life in New York, until Marcus arrived late in the afternoon from California. Even if she was sad that her boyfriend wasn't there, she was happy to see Marcus, with whom she made up for lost time. On Christmas Eve, after spending the evening with her parents, Marcus went to pick her up, and while she was in her bed late in the night, she heard someone knock on her door.

«Yeah?»

«Hey»

«Gordon? Sorry, I thought it was Marcus»

«Oh no, that idiot has been drinking too much beer and is now asleep»

«Great»chuckled the redhead.

«How are you feeling?»

«It's our first Christmas without each other since we kind of became something. But what about you? He's still your son too»

«Well, I think like you, I'm sad that he's not here, and even though I'm happy that he's becoming someone in New York, I can't help but worry»

«Yeah, me too»

«I'll be reassured when you'll be there with him»

«Yeah»sighed the redhead.

«What's going on, Donna?»

«I started applying everywhere in New York to make sure I got a job so I could join him when I'm done here, but I only got rejections. And I'm panicking because I can see that he's convinced that I'm going to join him there, but I don't have the heart to tell him that nothing is done yet»

«Hey, you still have a semester, I'm sure you'll find something in New York and that you two will be reunited. And maybe tell Marcus too»smiled Gordon.

«Yeah, I don't know about that, he's really going to take it badly»

«Well, love can't be controlled. It's no one fault»

«Yeah»

«By the way, I have something for you, I mean, he has something for you»

As Gordon handed her a small white box with the typical red and gold Cartier ribbon, she gasped and touched the necklace she was always wearing around her neck as she whispered.

«He's crazy»

«Crazy about you, for sure — alright, I'll leave you alone»

«Thanks Gordon»

Once the door was closed, she unwrapped the gift and opened the box with a trembling hand and swallowed hard when she saw the thin ring that went with her necklace. And if she was touched by the gift, even crazier than the necklace, she caught with trembling hands the letter he had written by hand.

Merry Christmas, Donna. I had planned to give it to you in secret as soon as Marcus had a little too much to drink and fall asleep, but unfortunately, I can't be there, so even if we won't be sharing our bed tonight, consider it a part of me. I hope you like it, it's while waiting to put a real ring on your finger. I miss you so much, and I can't wait to see you again. I love you so much.

As she quickly wiped her tears, she took the box out of the case to slip it on her finger while thinking about Harvey's words: it's while waiting to put a real ring on your finger. They were so done with each other it was crazy. At now barely twenty-one and already twenty-four, they were so in love with each other that they were considering getting married even though they had only seen each other for three days since they had officially been dating, almost six months ago. They were crazy — crazy about each other. Immediately, despite the late hour, she put her headphones on, FaceTimed Harvey, and as he picked up, she smiled widely and whispered.

«Hey»

«Oh my God, you're still awake. I'm so happy to see you»

«Me too. I got your present, are you insane?»

«You're the one driving me insane»

«Harvey»

«You like it?»

«I love it, but Harv, this is too big»

«Nothing is too big for you. Plus, I made more money here at the DA's than at this bar. Let me spoil you, alright?»

«Well, I won't say no to that»chuckled Donna.

«Good»

«I got your present too»

«You'll give it to me when we meet»

«Okay»

«I miss you»

«You too — how's your case going?»

Until the middle of the night, the two of them talked until Donna fell asleep with her phone still in her hand and Harvey fell asleep in turn, her breathing rocking him until their phones died from lack of battery. Meanwhile, Donna spent a few more days in Hartford before dropping Marcus off at the airport with Gordon and then taking the train to Yale, where she resumed classes. In New York, Harvey was losing it more and more because if spending Christmas alone had been complicated, since this case took up all his time, he had the impression of losing himself, that this case was consuming him, and that apart from that, he had nothing else. It had been almost two days since he had spoken to Donna, and this lack was starting to be felt physically, he was tired and sick to his stomach, and the panic attacks were more and more present as he felt that he was simply not ready for this life that demands too much, that he was alone and could not stand the pressure. At Yale, as Donna was leaving class, she was surprised to see that Gordon was calling her.

«Weird»whispered the redhead.

«Who is it?»asked Rachel.

«My father-in-law»

«Why is he calling you?»

«I don't know, wait — Gordon?»

«Hey, Red. Am I bothering you?»

«No, no. Is everything okay?»

«Yeah, um, I just wanted to know if you had any news from Harvey. Since Christmas, he didn't call me once, and he didn't answer my messages for a few days, so I know his trial is stressing him out, but I wanted to know if you had any news from him»

«Not really. I mean, he sends me messages but only to tell me that he misses me and that he loves me, nothing else. Gordon, I —»

«You're worried, I know»

«I'm going to New York»

«What?»

«You know Harvey as well as I do, we have no idea what's going on in his head, and usually, he tells me everything, he confides in me, but now, the fact that I haven't heard from him worries me. I've been thinking about it for a few days, and I think it's for the best that I go, just a few days, at least until the trial»

«What about school?»

«I'm only going to miss a few days, but I already said I had a family emergency. I'll catch up later, it's fine»

«Are you sure?»

«I just need to know that he's okay»

«I understand. When are you leaving?»

«I have a train tomorrow morning»

«Alright, will you keep me posted?»

«Of course»

«See you, Red»

«See you, Gordon»

As soon as she hung up, Donna headed to her last class before going back to her room to pack her bag. The next day, at eight in the morning, she took the bus from Yale to New Haven-Union Station before taking the train that brought her two hours later to Grand Central. Once in New York, her large bag with the few things she had taken with her for the few days on her shoulder, she looked up the address of the DA's office before taking the subway there. Once in the big building, she entered, and after asking around, she followed the instructions given to the floor where he worked before calling out to a woman who was passing by who pointed out the secretary sitting in front of his desk.

«Hello»

«Yes?»

«Um, is Harveyhere? »

«Do you have an appointment?»

«No, but— »

«So you have to make an appointment first»

«Really? I didn't know I needed an appointment to see my man»

«Oh, you're his girlfriend?»

«I am, yeah. Is he busy now?»

«No, he— »

«Perfect»

Without waiting for a response, she entered the office, and while he had his back to her busy searching through his files and had obviously not heard her enter, she whispered.

«Hello, handsome»

That was it, this case was driving him so crazy that he could hear his girlfriend's voice now, but while he also smelled the perfume that was driving him insane, he turned around quickly before gasping at the sight of her in front of him, her arms crossed over her chest, a smile on the corner of her lips while her necklace and ring were shining on her fluffy dark burgundy sweater. He thought he was hallucinating. If he didn't even know what to say or do, the fear of blinking and she would disappear, she chuckled softly before jumping into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist while he quickly hugged her, one arm around her back, the other under her ass as he inhaled her scent from her neck and whispered.

«I can't believe it»

«I'm so happy»

«What are you doing here?»

«I missed you so much»

«I missed you so much too»

As she took the opportunity to place one of her hands on his cheek, she slowly approached to kiss him tenderly while he sighed in relief at finally feeling her lips against his after months. They couldn't have said how long they stood there kissing in the middle of the office — tongues and teeth — while Donna was still clinging to him, both of the lawyer's hands now on his girlfriend's ass, and if until now they were lost in their moment, they were interrupted by someone clearing their throat.

«Mr. Specter, Cameron Davis for you»

«Specter, well done»

«Mr. Davis»whispered Harvey with Donna still clinging to him, both of them looking at him.

«So you must be the chick who was waiting for him at Christmas»

«Well, I'm a woman, not a chick, and yeah, it was me. And I suppose you're the boss who didn't allow him to come home for Christmas»

«That's me»

« Well, thank you for ruining my holiday. Anyway, I should go »

As he helped her to the ground, she grabbed her bag that she had dropped on the ground before approaching and whispering.

«Can you give me your keys?»

«Yeah, sure, wait»

As he grabbed his bunch of keys from his pocket and handed them to her, she kissed him one last time in front of his boss and his secretary before whispering against his lips.

«See you at home»

«See you»

After nodding to the two other adults in the room, she left the DA's to head to his place and drop off her stuff. Meanwhile, Nadia had already left the office while Cameron Davis and Harvey were alone, and the older man started to laugh.

«So that was your girl?»

«Yeah»

«I like her, she's quick-witted»

«She is»smiled the young man.

«Harvey, I can imagine you're happy she's here, but don't forget your primary mission»

«The trial, I know»

«If we're on the same wavelength, it's good for me»

After she left, Harvey quickly sent a message to Donna to tell her the approximate time he would be home, while she simply replied that she was waiting for him. All day, he worked with his heart pounding at the thought of her being there, and surprisingly, if he thought he would be distracted by her, he had never been as productive as since he knew he was expected tonight. So as soon as the clock showed five and it was time to go home, a series of files already close — more than he had planned — he hurried to leave his office under the vexed eye of Nadia, who until now thought she had a chance with her boss, before he hailed a taxi and waited impatiently to be home. A few minutes later, as soon as he crossed the threshold of the door, he felt his heart tighten seeing the scene in front of him. While Donna was busy cooking in the small kitchen, next to his couch, she had put up a small Christmas tree that she had decorated with a few gifts underneath while the studio was lit up with candles and little lights.

«Hey»

Without even answering her, seeing her smile at him while turning in the pan, he grabbed her by the hips before throwing her on the bed and covering her with kisses.

«Harvey, the pasta»

«Wait»

He then ran to turn off the heat under the pan before returning to the bed and taking off his jacket and shirt in the process, finding himself shirtless with only his suit pants and shoes. Quickly, he undressed Donna, and the two of them made passionate love in the dim atmosphere of the studio for a moment, as the food was getting cold in the pan. Once they were both finished and out of breath, Harvey whispered.

«I miss this»

«What? Sex?»giggled Donna.

«I missed sex, for sure — thanks for the nudes, by the way. It really helped»

«You're welcome»

As both of them did a high five and laughed, Harvey found himself lying partly on Donna before dropping a kiss on her cleavage and whispering against her skin.

«But I miss this, you know, you and I, just the two of us»

«Yeah, I missed that too»

«Thanks for coming»

«Well, it was too bad you couldn't celebrate Christmas with me, so I brought Christmas to you»

«This is so good — how long are you staying?»

«Four days, until the trial»

«Thank you»

As he dropped a kiss on her lips, Donna pushed him slightly before chuckling.

«No way, I'm hungry»

«Yup, let's eat»

About twenty minutes later, when Donna had finished dinner, they were both in their underwear in the lawyer's bed with a bowl of pasta talking about everything and nothing while Harvey confided to his girlfriend his fears about the trial. Once they were done, Harvey did the dishes, Donna dried them, and even if the moment was trivial, the lawyer felt his heart accelerate in the face of the domesticity he lived with Donna, something he was looking forward to as soon as she would join him in New York. Once she was done with her task, she moved behind him and slid her hands over his abs before dropping a kiss on his naked back and muttering.

«Don't you want your Christmas gift?»

«You are my Christmas gift, but hell yeah»

«Alright»

Once seated, she handed him a large white box as he felt his throat tighten at the sight of the contents, Donna's sweet voice echoing in the studio.

«Now I feel ridiculous because it's not worth a Cartier ring, but I thought it was cute»

«I don't understand»

«It's my most important stuff, you know, until I come. I know I told you I was waiting to get a job to come here, but who gives a shit? I'm going to come to New York as soon as I finish at Yale, and I'll find a job as a barista or waitress in the meantime, but I don't want to be separated from you anymore»

«Seriously?»

«Yeah?»

«Donna, I— »

Without knowing what to say, he grabbed her face in his hands before kissing her passionately and whispering.

«So you're coming to New York?»

«Yeah, as soon as I'm done in June, I'll be there»

«I can't believe it. I'm so happy»

«Me too»

«And Donna, you won't be a barista or a waitress, you'll find a fucking job here in New York, and in the meantime, I'll be a lawyer who'll make loads of money, and I'll offer you the good life so you don't have to do any shitty job, alright?»

«Alright»

«God, I love you so much»

«Me too»

That night, they made passionate love again before falling asleep in each other's arms. For two more days, they woke up together, went to the DA's hand in hand before Donna settled into a coffee shop to catch up on the classes she missed before joining Harvey, and they went back to the studio together to live their lives. The morning of the trial, they woke up together, Donna watched Harvey get dressed in front of the small mirror, smiling when she saw that he had put on the shirt she had given him for last Christmas before he put on his jacket and leaned towards the redhead.

«What time is your trial?»

«Ten o'clock»

«Alright, it'll be fine, Harv»

«I hope so»

«I know, I have faith in you»

«I love you»

«I love you too»

After one last kiss, he left the studio while Donna opened her laptop to start working. For his part, Harvey had gone to the DA's before going to court, where he paced in the hallway waiting for the trial to start, and as everyone arrived and settled in the courtroom, the defendant, John Farmer, stared at him insistently. Alright, he could do it, and as Cameron Davis sat next to him and Jessica was in the room to observe her little protégé, Harvey's gaze stopped on the gorgeous redhead who had just made her entrance with a wink. He couldn't believe it, she came, and while he would have happily jumped over the divider to join her in the audience and kiss her, he stopped dead in his tracks when the judge banged his gavel. For nearly two hours, Harvey spoke with presence, and as the judge delivered the verdict — fifteen years in Bayview Federal Prison for eleven separate charges — the lawyer felt the weight on his shoulders that had accumulated for two weeks finally disappearing. After greeting everyone and answering a few journalists, he looked for his girlfriend in the audience, but not seeing her, he decided to go out and smile when he saw the redhead leaning against a wall, scrolling on her phone, waiting for him. If she didn't seem to have heard him approach, Harvey quickly placed his lips on hers while she quickly raised her head.

«Oh my God, Harv»

Immediately, she took him in her arms while he hugged her, placing a kiss on her neck.

«So?»

«You were amazing, Harv. I would have never thought that seeing you in court would have turned me on. I mean, my man is a lawyer, damn in»chuckled Donna.

«Well, this victory is only thanks to you»

«Oh, come on»

«I swear. I mean, I was so stressed, and you arrived when I needed you the most»

«Well, luckily, I'm here then»

«Exactly»chuckled Harvey before kissing her.

«So you must be the love of his life?»

As both of them parted to look at the person who had spoken to them, Donna's arms around Harvey's neck while he had his around her slim waist, the redhead looked at the brunette next to them and whispered.

«I hope so»

«Hum, Jessica, this is Donna, my girlfriend, and Donna, this is Jessica, you know, the one who's paying for our studio»

«Well, I'm glad to know that I'm only the one who's paying for your studio, apparently»

As the three of them were laughing, Donna unhooked her arms from Harvey's neck before reaching out to the woman.

«Jessica, of course, I know you are the one who gave him the opportunity to live his dream here in New York»

«Oh, so you talked about me?»smiled the brunette while looking at her protege.

«Of course I did»smiled Harvey.

«Well, it looks like I made the right choice. Congratulations, by the way, Harvey»

As Donna slid her arms around his torso, lifting her head to look at him with love, she whispered.

«I'm so proud of you»

As Harvey looked at her with a big smile, placing a kiss on her forehead, Jessica chuckled before muttering.

«Alright, I'll leave you two lovers. Go, I'll find an excuse for Cameron»

«Thank you, Jessica»

After a last smile, they left the court hand in hand to walk through the streets of New York, taking advantage of their last evening to celebrate his victory in a bar, the lawyer in a suit with his hair slicked back to the side, and Donna in a low-cut plaid sweater with a pencil skirt.

«You look hot»

«You think?»snorted Donna.

«Yeah, you're more serious, but yeah, hot. It gives me boss secretary kink»

«With only me, I hope? Not the girl in front of your office»

«Nadia? Hell no. I'm only into sexy redhead»

It's weird for them, if Harvey was usually wearing loose jeans, a sweater, and a Yankees cap, seeing him in a suit and tie was so different, giving him a more mature and serious look, while for Donna, if the redhead also usually wore wide pants and a tight t-shirt, seeing her in a tight skirt, the lawyer found her incredibly sexy. That evening, after a Macallan 18 and a Margarita, the couple returned to their studio, where they found themselves an hour later naked under the sheets, Harvey dropping a kiss on Donna's bare belly as both of them were sweaty.

«I can't believe you're leaving tomorrow»

«But I'll be back, Harv»

«Yeah»

For a few seconds, no one said anything before Harvey started to talk, still kissing her belly and under her boobs.

«You know, it's crazy, but before you, I thought I knew everything. I was convinced that the only way to be happy was to have fun, not to commit, to become the best lawyer in New York with success and a lot of money, but in fact, that wasn't happiness at all. Happiness is coming home and seeing you waiting for me, falling asleep and waking up in your arms, walking around New York hand in hand, introducing yourself as my girlfriend to my bosses, and coming home a little tipsy from a trendy bar. I mean, it may be stupid, but that's what I like the mostabout my life »

«I can't wait to come here»

«Me too»

After one last kiss, they fell asleep in each other's arms until the next day, when they were at Grand Central, and they kissed again and again, knowing that with Harvey in New York and Donna at Yale, the next time they would see each other would be in a little over five months. So, in the meantime, they waited, Harvey in his studio sleeping with the sweaters that Donna had left him soaked in her perfume — the best Christmas gift in the world — while the redhead couldn't help but smile whenever her eyes fell on the article that had been dedicated to her boyfriend — Young Lawyer Presents Daunting 'Specter' for Defendents — and which she had displayed on her wall.

Just five months.

Five months, and they would finally be together.
