This tale of love tinged with heartache takes place primarily in the medium-sized southwestern Norwegian village of Kyrluná and with the union of Thorvald Valderson and Vada Ahlberg, from the ninth day of August in 1999 until his death from old age late in the March of 2057. Their marriage resulted in two sons, Felix and Magnus.
The fact that Thorvald's job required him to work in Michigan from November til March or sometimes April to October meant they somehow managed to partially raise the boys in both countries. Felix got into Tann University in Astral Influence Rhode Island, where he fell for the only daughter of a prominent local real estate agent, Calder Edling, originally of Drakeberg, Sweden. He and Signe moved back to Royal Woods where they married in the autumn of 2025, with their older son, Thor Surter, born nearly 2 years after the wedding, then Gerhardt "Jerry" Baldr came, some three and a half years later.
Signe ran a popular restaurant/cafe in Royal Woods, while Felix was manager of a local law firm. Magnus settled in Birgen, wherein he'd met his soulmate Alma Sørensen, who tragically perished in a collision with a drunk driver along with their unborn son and second child, who they'd already planned on naming Søren Kristoffer. Their daughter, Günnhilde Solveig had been eight at the time, and after their wife and mother, son and brother were cremated, there were no pleasant memories left of and in Norway for the father in particular, as he and Alma had explored every inch of their homeland while she was alive and he needed to make a fresh start with their daughter so they relocated first to Benediction, North Dakota, because there was a large pre-established Norwegian community there, finally joining the rest of his family in Royal Woods.
Thor's romantic life may have started with Marlèna Lannerbäck, by whom his meeting of his true love Ilse Henriksson was perpetuated. The couple were married on a bright summer day in 2052 and their oldest son, Dag Göran was born, roughly two months after the perishing of her twin brother in a blizzard… Then came Thorvald's death in Spring 2057, and the family's relocation to Kyrluná, wherein Thor was currently a high ranking member of the local police force.
Though he had been the pride of his family for 5 and a half years, Dag hadn't minded too much when Ivar Klaus and Cecilia "Lilia" Steffenie came into the world. Around the time of Ilse's pregnancy with their youngest son where they were discussing possible names for the baby, Thor had thought to call his Onkel back in Royal Woods and ask whether they could partially honour his youngest cousin who was in Valhalla with his dear Tante and name their their son Søren, to which the older gentleman happily gave permission to and on the twelfth of July in 2062, little Søren Jakob Valderson was born.
Next to marry; just over five years after Ilse and Thor, were Günnhilde and Dan Ferrier, who affectionately referred to her as his "Sweet Nordess [short for Nordic Goddess]". Their marriage produced two sons and a daughter. Their eldest son was born just over 9 months after the wedding, and was named Thorliff Carl Ferrier, and was very like his dead maternal great-grandfather in personality and had his father's medium blue-gray eyes and chin but his mother's burnished gold hair and smile. His younger sister was given the name Alma Katheryn. Alma was just like her dearly departed Bestemor and namesake in appearance and personality, which led her Bestefar to exclusively favour her over her brothers, almost two years after her birth, the happy couple welcomed their second son and youngest child, Kristoffer Dante into the mortal realm, and s physical the opposite of his eldest brother with his father's chestnut hair and his mother's fearless; deep, dark, yet simultaneously incredibly bright and intelligent blue eyes, yet the personality of his paternal great-aunt, Grace Lannerbäck.
About one and a half years after their wedding, Jerry wedded also and to the biological sister of Robbin McAlpine Loud-Sharp, Raine McAlpine. The couple lived on Hunnicutt farms, where he was assistant manager. It was hard growing up on the farm sometimes for their eldest Per, since he was surrounded by his sisters and the super-annoying Harmony, he loved staying with his cousins because despite the 2 year age difference present between Thorliff and himself, they shared any incredibly close bond, and whenever their cousin Ivar was visiting with his family from their ancestral homeland, the other two were always good about including their respective younger brothers in whatever they did, the two youngest ones had a similar age difference to the one between their respective brothers; and acted similarly too. His sisters, Lyssa & Trudy, looked very similar to one another, but while Lyssa was very close with Harmony, Whenever Robbin's adoptive sister Roxy brought her daughter Ruby over for a play date, Harmony and Lyssa would be frustrated because of the worshipful look that came into her eyes whenever she was gazing at Per, and the way she always doted on Trudy further annoyed the other two girls, who viewed the younger girl as little more than a baby.
