-Hilbert / Hisuian Zorua is as strong as a maxed level pokemon (I mean he spent thoudsand years training what did you expect?)

Normally pokemon's level doesn't matter the power of the pokemon, I use their base stat to decide who is stronger, but the more combat experience it has, the better its skill will be. So yeah, although lv1 pokemon does normal attack to lv100 pokemon, the move is easy to miss.

For the characters, the level doesn't exist, of course.

"Can you change your fate, little fox?" A calm voice of the samurai pokemon asked him.

The ghost was silent. Both of them were on a high mountain, watching the sunset.

After a long time in silent, the fox decided to continue the conversation "How was your journey with the chosen one?"

"Great...And stop calling them 'The chosen one', just Rei and Akari"

"Since when you're so close with the humans?" It asked the formidable pokemon.

Hisuian Samurott sighed. "You need to learn more, little one..."

"I'm not little! I can feel that I'm about to evolve into a strong Zoroark"

"I didn't talk about it, the 'little' here is your vision about human hand pokemon, full of subjectivity..."

"What do you mean?"

It was silent again.

"Hillllllll~!"

"OUCH!"

There was something biting his head, waking him up from his dream. "Lar...vey?" Hilbert asked in a sleepy voice. "It's still night-"

"Night? The sun is about to rise!"

"Are you kidding me? It's just about to!"

"You need to wake up early everyday to have a healthy body!" Larvey said to the Zorua "Now let's go for a walk!"

"OKay..." Hilbert makes an unpleasant sound then he lets Larvesta climbed on his shoulder then go out of the pokemon centre. Without fully opening his yellow eyes, Hilbert sleepily went around Striaton city. Suddenly he saw someone standing in front of the gym, the man has a long green hair, it is tied into a ponytail. He wears a white shirt and has a cube object as a necklace.

Hilbert remembered him "He's the one who talked with the Purrloin!"

But there was no Purrloin next to him, instead of that, a lizard-like pokemon was what he saw, Its oval eyes are set to the sides of its head, and its teeth appear to be constantly exposed. There is a small red scale on its yellow head. Below the yellow portion of its head, its body is cream-colored with thin arms and a red, scaly belly. It carries its loose, yellow skin around its legs, resembling trousers. Some of the loose skin seems to trail off to form or cover a tail.

Hilbert used the pokedex that he had borrowed from Bianca yesterday.

"Scraggy-Shedding pokemon, its skin has a rubbery elasticity, so it can reduce damage by defensively pulling its skin up to its neck."

They brunette sighed, he said in pokemon language "This thing needs to be updated"

"Why?" The larva pokemon asked.

"That's a Zorua or Zoroark" He pointed to the small tuft of black and red fur exposed on the back of its head.

Larvey surprised "Wow! How can you notice that?"

"Never offer to teach a Magikarp to Splash" The boy said "I have spent a lot of time completing my illusion skill, everytime I wear on a custome, I always try to avoid every mistake no matter how small it is. You could say that was an eye-training lesson"

"We shouldn't stay here for too long, he may notice us"

The larva nodded "You're right...Let's go to the pokemon centre again and wake them up"

"Nah...I'd like go to sleep again..."

"Is that a pokedex?" A voice of a man said to Hil.

"W-What?" Both the fox and his partner surprised, Hilbert quickly jumped away from the source of that voice "When...did...you?"

"Hil, I thinks this guy is not a good person!" Larvey said, it looked at the disguiser. "Right...He is pretending as a human, he cannot reply me now..."

The guy said in a sad expression "How could you say that to me, my friend?"

"Who...is...your friend?" Hilbert said to the the mysterious guy.

He sighed "I don't talk to abuser like you...I said to the one on your shoulder"

"Wait, that's mean he can-"

A fast orange line appeared in front of Hilbert's eyes, before he could react, the pokedex was in 'Scraggy' hand. It gave the machine to the guy.

"Who...are you? What do...you...want?" Hilbert tried to say as fast as he could, but it was still impossible for the illusional body.

Didn't pay any attention to the struggling boy, he said.

"I'm N, the one who can hear pokemon's voice. All of them are my friends, I don't want them to be enslaved by human just to complete this useless machine"

"Use...less?"

N sighed again "There's no point of using that thing, why don't people try understanding pokemon instead of giving their trust to the machine that maybe not even work normally"

"He's right!" That voice came from a pigeon-like pokemon which flies up behind N, Larvey instantly knew that was the Pidove that Zorua had took down in the Dreamyard.

"Well well well~ what are we having here?" The bird smirked "Didn't you say that you won't go near the humans, little bug?"

"Hil is different!" Larvesta said back.

"You're tricked by that white fox, it told you to come with its trainer, didn't it?"

"No-" Hilbert froze when he saw N's deadly stare at him.

"Just as I thought, you human would never change"

Suddenly Larvey jumped out of the boy's shoulder. "I don't allow you to say that kind of thing to my friend like that!"

The green hair man looked a bit surprised by the time Larvesta spoke.

"Hmn...Interesting...Let's me hear their voice more..."

N sent out 'Scraggy' and Pidove at the same time. Both Hilbert and Larvey confused. "Do I have to fight two of them by myself?" the larva pokemon aksed

"Doesn't your trainer have another pokemon?" The 'lizard' said, Pidove added "This is a double battle! Call that fox outta here, I'll make him regret messing with me that time!"

"As if I can!" The disguised Zorua thought.

"He's...not here..." Hilbert said, hoped he could convince them to believe that "Zo...rua...sleeping..."

N sighed "I won't interrupt him then"

The battle started.

N chose 'Scraggy' (Zoroark)

Larvey attacked first as soon as Hilbert showed a signal of String Shot that slowed 'Scraggy' down, then the larva used Flame Charge

Zoroark's illusion was worn off the moment it tried to block the attack with its claws. Without saying a single word, Hilbert immediately pointed out his left hand "Struggle Bug". It's super effective.

"Urg!" The black fox groaned. "Never thought that they would start a battle in silence"

"That's how us fight! Any problems with that?" Larvey said.

N seem as surprised as the Unovan fox, but he quickly focused on the fight "Zoroark, Night Slash!"

Hilbert didn't have time to make any signal, he decided to speak in his true voice "String Shot on the tree!". Larvey barely dodged the attack by shooting its silk threads in order to swing on the tree.

"N didn't notice me...maybe...he can't consider the different of human and pokemon's language since he can understand both"

That theory somehow made Hilbert feel more comfortable to talk.

"String Shot at its legs then Struggle Bug again!"

"Dodge!" The green hair said to his friend, but it was a little late. Although Zoroark managed to dodge all the string, he couldn't be fast enough to prevent the bug's attack.

"Now use Ember around him!" Larvey made a circle of flame surround Zoroark, stopping the Unovan fox from going further. When they were about to end this fight by using lots of Struggle Bug, suddenly Zoroark jumped up high onto the tree where Larvey is. N took their surprise as his chance "Now!"

A wave of flame came from the fox mouth that directly hit Larvey.

"Damn it!" Hil cursed.

Due to being a fire a type, the bug managed to stand up after took a full blow of Flamethrower.

"I think that's a crit. Can you continue?" The brunette asked his friend.

"Yeah! I won't lose again!"

" 'Kay! Let's speed up more! Flame Charge!"

"Zoroark, don't gve them the chance" N said.

Just like that, Larvey used the speed-up move non-stop while avoiding Zoroark's Night Slash.

After a minute of spamming Flame Charge, Larvey asked Hilbert "What should we do now? I've maxxed the speed"

"I'll teach you a new move!" That was the Zorua's answer which made everyone surprise.

"W-Wh-What?! Right in the middle of the battle?"

"Hmn...What you gonna do to teach the little one a new move?" N was curious about what the 'human' said earlier.

"Trust me Larvey" Hilbert said. "I've seen Rei's Arcanine used it serveral times"

"Listen, cloaks yourself in fire and charges at the target! That'll be Flame Wheel!"

"Alright! Sound easy for me!" The larva pokemon did what the boy said, and it actually worked. The Unovan fox and its 'trainer' both surprised. Hilbert encourage his partner "Wow! You did it in your first try!"

The pokemon chuckled a bit "I know I'm the best"

N gave Hilbert a smile "Never know that would be the way to teach them new move..."

"Is that a compliment or not?" He asked.

Then both of them noticed the sun has risen. N sighed "I think the battle should should stop right now, it is a draw"

Hilbert nodded, he didn't want to be seen by any people either, especially Hilda's group.

"Perhaps I've been wrong about you..." N said before waving a him as a goodbye.

Hilbert waved back, he breathed out in relief when N has gone far away. "So he didn't notice..."

"Notice what?" Larvey asked.

"Notice that I've used pokemon language all the time" the boy answered, suddenly he remembered "Wait...The pokedex?!"

"Over there!" Larvey pointed to the machine on the ground.

Larvey suddenly asked him when the boy picking up the pokedex.

"Hey Hil, is that fox called Zoroark your evolution?"

"Yeah?"

"Then why it has black color when you're white?"

"That's a regional form of mine. Well...something like that" He answered.

"I don't understand, what do you mean by 'Something like that'?"

"It's complicated" Hilbert sighed "I'll explain to you if I think it's time"

They returned to the pokemon centre. Carefully looking around the room to see if anyone has woken up, lucky for Hilbert, all of them were asleep, the disguised Zorua lied down to his bed.

"Where have you two been?" A sharp voice asked them, that's was Aster, Cheren's Snivy. "Uhh...We go for a walk" Larvey answered while Hilbert pretended that he couldn't hear them.

"At that time?" The snake continued.

"Yeah, any problem?"

Aster sighed "That's a huge problem when two people you have just meet for less than two days sneaking out at 5 AM"

"Larvey...sleep?" Hilbert asked the moth-like pokemon. It said nothing and climbed on their bed. While closing their eyes, they could hear Aster grumbled about something then she went away.

Hours later.

"How's your last night, Hilbert?" Hilda asked him when then were about to leave the pokemon centre.

"Good..." He answered while yawning.

They noticed Aster tried to tell something to the pokemon, at least the Nuvema trio were the one who curious about it.

"Don't trust them, they are suspicious!" The snake pokemon said.

Oshan disagreed with her "Come on, you're too skeptical"

"Yeah, the two of them look nice!" Tippy added.

"Why do you think they are bad people?" The Purrloin named Noelle asked.

"They sneakily went out at 5 AM in the morning, do you think normal people would do that?"

"Hey! I already said we went out for a walk!" Larvey interrupted them. "And we did it for a good reason!"

"And that is...?" Noelle asked.

"For exercising of course!"

Hilbert tried to not pay attention to the pokemon.

"I wonder what the are saying" Bianca said, Hilda nodded "Yeah, It would be great if we can understand them"

"And I won't have any problem with speaking your kind language"

"Speaking of understanding pokemon..." Cheren suddenly said "Do you think what the guy named N said was true? The fact that he can hear pokemon?"

"Wait...So they have met him before?"

"It sound a little impossible" Hilda answer. "What do you think, Hilbert?"

Hilbert shook his head. "Don't...know"

"Oh, I forgot I didn't tell you!" She realized "So when we were in Accumula town, we met a guy named N, he told me he could hear what pokemon saying"

She breathed in for a moment then continued "He challenged me for a battle, it was a tough fight, thou. After I won, he went away, whispered something with himself about 'liberating pokemon', 'ideal' and 'truth"

Hilbert made a 'Hmn' sound although he just heard little about it.

"I wish I had asked Akari to teach me human words" The Zorua sighed under his illusion.

The four stopped at Striaton gym.

"Are you sure you want to challenge the gym?" Cheren asked "You have just met Larvey yesterday and only have one battle"

Hil nodded.

"Not only one" He thought while came into the restaurant.

"Oh, you guys again?" Cress was the first person they met.

Suddenly Chili's voice appeared from behind "Yesterday battle was fire!"

"How can I serve you today?" Cilan continued.

Hilbert nervously came in front of the three gym leaders.

"Battle..." The disguised Zorua said, his Larvey jump down from his shoulder.

"Oh, so your first partner is Larvesta?" Cilan asked.

Hilbert nodded.

"Then your oppoment will be me" Cress said. "I'll wait at the end"

When the blue hair waiter went away, Cilan explained to Hil

"Every gym in Unova region has some kind of puzzles, in Striaton gym, you have to step on a type pad that was super effective against the element on the curtain. If you choose right, the curtain will open. You need to do that three times to reach Cress's place, also there are some trainers behind the curtain, battling with them or they won't let you move"

"Uhh..." The explanation was too long for the illusion pokemon and his partner to hear correctly "Shorter...please?"

Hilda chuckled "There are three curtain which has Fire, Water or Grass type on them, you need to choose the pad on the ground that can counter the one on the curtain, Cress is at the end of the hall."

"Remember to fight the trainers on the way or you won't be able to go ahead" Cheren added.

Hilbert nodded as if he understand.

Bianca encouraged him "Don't worry Hilbert! You and Larvey are strong!"

The brunette just smiled back, then he started his first gym challenge ever.

"Blue color...Must be water type!" Hil think while stepped on the green pad.

Then two more curtains that Hilbert had no problems in remember the type matchups. There were some waiters behind those curtain like Cheren said, but the boy and his moth-like pokemon managed to defeat them quickly.

But the main challenge has just started when Hilbert went to Cress's place.

"Since you only have Larvesta, I'll only use Panpour, too"

The boy nodded. "Thanks..."

"So yeah I just need to win this battle when I get a HUGE type disadvantage"

He knelt down and whispered to Larvey "Even though we don't have the type on our hand, you can keep up with that Panpour like when you do with Oshan, right?"

"Obviously I can! That monkey is not as strong as the sea otter!"

He smiled. "Alright!"

The gym battle started.

Cress started with telling Panpour to use Work Up. Hilbert took that as a chance, he pointed his right hand. Larvey used Flame Charge to speed up.

"Panpour, use Water Gun!"

"L-Left...!" The brunette tried to said in human language, the larva pokemon barely dodged it.

"It is not a good idea to practice human language now..." He thoght.

Hilbert raised his left hand and said "Legs!", Larvey understanded, it tied Panpour's legs by using String Shot, making the monkey felt down to the ground. Hilbert immediately pointed his left hand as a signal for Struggle Bug, that's was a critical hit.

"Ouch! It's hurt!" Panpour said.

"So that is how you find, huh?" Cress asked with a calm voice.

Hilbert nodded.

The blue hair waiter smiled "Panpour, use Work Up to cut those threads!" The water monkey increased its attack and special attack in order to destroy the strings.

"Huge mistake!" The moth-like pokemon said when Hilbert showed a signal to Larvey to use Struggle Bug which made Panpour's move fail.

"So they won't give us a chance to set up, ehh?" The monkey pokemon said.

Cress had no choice except using Water Gun over and over again since the moment they tried to use any other moves, Hilbert will take the chance. "Circle!" Hilbert said to his friend. The larva pokemon went around to dodge the attacks.

"Hil, we can't just run around and avoid the water like that" Larvey adviced the Zorua "They seem to have seen through your tactic"

"He's right. Come on Zorua, think, think, think...Attack Panpour now is a high risk because he has used Work Up once...What should I do?" Suddenly he remembered the fight with Oshan. "Block Water Gun by String Shot!" The boy said in pokemon language since the sound of the water drowned out most of the voice so no one would be able to hear Hilbert, except Larvey who was near him.

The strings which were come from the moth-like pokemon covered Panpour's mouth, made it be unable to use the move anymore.

"Panpour!" Cress surprised.

"N-Now!" By the time the brunette said, Larvey used an uncountable amount of Struggle Bug that ended the battle.

"And this is the trio badge" Cress gave the disguised Zorua the rectangle shape thing. It was shaped like a bow tie. It might also bear a resemblance to an opened pea pod, which contained two large peas; one green and one blue, with a smaller red pea at the center.

When Hil and Larvey went out of the gym, he saw Cheren and Bianca eating some kind of cream. Hilda immediately came to him with two ice cream on her hands.

"I've seen your battle, Hilbert!" She said "You managed to win easily, even though you got type disadvantage, here's your reward!"

"It's not as easy as you think, but thanks for the food"

Hilbert took one, he had heard a lot of things about the food called ice cream every times he observing the human, but this is the first time he actually has eaten one. He let Larvey take a bite first to make sure it didn't harm his body.

"Damn! It's the yummiest thing I have ever taste! Give it a try, Hil"

It was actually more delicious than he thought. "Yum..." He said. Hilda smiled back while eating hers "Sometimes just a little snack after having a fight is enough, isn't it?"

"G-Great! Now all of us have the first badge!" Bianca said. Cheren added "Now, let's go to the next city, shall we?"

All of them agreed, the four people continued their journey.

So~The battles in this chapter is kinda short cuz I've run out of idea for them. Also I planned that at the begining of every chapter, I'll add a small conversation of Hilbert/Zorua and his old friends from the Hisui region that show a little of his past.

Forgive me if the story telling is quite clumsy.
