Chapter 6- A Familiar Face
The Huntik group turned their eyes to the newcomer, each member of the group having a variety of looks. For Sophie it was a look of irritation, plus a slight blush to her cheeks. She could only think back to when Lok had her pinned to the ground. Close to impaling her, she was probably going to kill the boy after it was all said and done.
Dante on the other hand, had kept his composure. Simply analyzing the new face that had introduced himself into the situation. His eyes narrow ever so slightly, as if it would help him get a full view of his features. Any signs of his face to give an inkling to his thoughts. A inside to his opponent.
As for Cathy, she looked like she had seen a ghost. Her eyes open wide, as if someone had knocked the wind out of her. Her hands began to shake, her fingers wrinkling inwards to only shoot open again. Tears began to welt in her eyes. With a shaky breath she choked out a simple name. "Lok?"
Her voice was shaky, as if not sure the words she was saying were actually words. She began to breathe rapidly as the first tear began to run down her cheek. She couldn't have been mistaken, she knew, her body had screamed at her. It was her littler brother.
Lok raised his brow at the fellow blonde, his grin replaced with a threatening frown. "Now, how do you know my name ?" He asked as his finger began to flex in his gloves. His frown now turned into a thin line.
At the moment of his statement, Cathy began to charge at him. Running at him like her death was nipping at her heels, a smile broke out on her face. Tears running freely now. Broken sobs of laughter filled the night air.
Lok in his moment of confusion was caught off guard, quickly getting into a stance he was again caught off guard by Cathy. She did not throw a punch, she didn't go for a tackle or kick. She wrapped her arms around him, and quickly placed her face into his neck and cried.
Her shoulders began to shake uncontrollably, she tried to say something. Only to come out as choking sobs and wailing of cries. Her arms seemed to squeeze harder as a moments passed. She only seemed to calm down for a moment as Lok placed a hand on her side.
She looked to the face of her brother, she knew it was him. It had to be him. She gave him a tearful smile as she pulled away just enough to look at him. Her moment of happiness was stunned at the look at his face.
Instead of seeing a smiling little brother, she sees the face of an irritated member of the organization. Her tearful eyes staring back at him through the reflection of his glasses. Before she could say anything, or asked what was wrong. She was cut off by Lok with one simple word. "Impale."
"Cathy look out !" Sophie called out to her as she ran towards her friend. Knowing exactly what his spell would do. Fear crept back to her heart, moving her legs as her body would physically allow.
Before she could reach the two of them, a yellow blur flew past her. She immediately stopped in her tracks as her eyes adjusted to what had just happened. Taking in the new scene before her, was Cathy on the ground to the left of Lok. Lok's right hand being held up by Dante's left hand.
She immediately ran to Cathy, pulling her back to her feet. She tried to pull her friend away from the two. However it seemed like Cathy had other plans. She fought back against her, but thankfully in her shocked state Sophie managed to pull her back and behind the safety of Sabriel.
Lok with his impaled spike spell active, turned his head to the red haired male. "So, you're Dante Vale. You're pretty fast." He stated almost bored, as is the conversation and situation was just a mere chore.
Dante only gave him a half grin, his grip on Lok's arm being firm and unmoving. "Well, when you fight suits as much as I have. You pick up a few things." Dante's gaze briefly looked to Lok's hand, looking at the foot long spike protruding from it.
"That's a pretty nasty spell you have there. Not something just anyone has. Who taught that to you ?" He asked in a clam tone. His words dripping with curiosity, almost sounded impressed.
"Oh this ?" Lok asked as he began to move his right hand side to side. Making the spike shake along with it, before it slowly began to sink back into his palm. "No one taught me this, it's a neat little trick I invented my self."
Suddenly Lok's left knee shot upwards to try and make contact with Dante's side. Only for it to be blocked by Dante's right hand. Quickly following it up, Lok shoved his left hand onto Dante's right shoulder. Followed by a swift call of impale.
Dante simply spun his body around him and used his right foot and swung it into Lok's right achilles heel. Knocking him to the ground. Lok let out a small grunt as his shoulder blades slammed into the ground. Before he could even let out a groan Dante was quickly on the offensive, driving his foot into the boys right side sending him back a few feet.
Lok rolled with the kick and rolled into a kneeling position, letting out a small growl as he looked back to the older seeker. Dante had a small grin, as he bent his knees ever so slightly and gave him a competitive grin.
"I meant it when I said collect suits was my hobby." Was all he said as he wagged his hand in a come get some gesture. The damn grin never leaving his face, before Lok could charge. Dante's titan Caliban slammed behind Dante, its arms crossed daring him to try it.
Lok got back onto his feet, a scowl edged on his face. He reached into his shirt and pulled out Incubane's amulet. "Fine then, if you want to play. I can play." He lifted the amulet above his head. The green gem shined for a brief moment before a hand reached up and clasped around his wrist.
Before Lok could say anything resembling a threat, he looked towards the owner of the hand and saw his friend Owen. His rage quickly disappeared for a moment, but just a moment. "Better have a good explanation." His tone cold and even.
Owen almost flinched at the way he spoked, he quickly let go of his friend's wrist. "Look Lok, the rest of us are pretty banged up. If things get anymore crazy we might draw a crowd." Owen's voice pleaded desperately, worried about the situation getting out of hand.
Lok stared at him for a few moments, shifting between him and Dante. As if weighing the pros and cons, finally making up his mind. He let out a sigh as he placed the amulet around his neck again. His hands shoved back into his pockets.
"Fine, let's go. This isn't over yet." Lok stated as he turned and walked back down the alleyway. The group of suits following after him. A few of them limping slightly, nursing bruises.
After the group had left, Dante called back his titan. Returning back to the group, Sophie consoling a crying Cathy. "Well that was certainly interesting." Dante stated seeing the younger strawberry blonde seeker recall her titan.
"Excuse me, you wouldn't happen to have a place for us to regroup? Seems the organization is keeping an eye on us." Dante asked her, Sophie he believed her name was, she seemed familiar. He just couldn't place it.
Sophie looked back to him and nodded her head, helping Cathy to her feet she gave him a simple nod. "Of course, please follow me." She said as with Cathy in her arms made her way down the road. Leading Cathy and Dante to her home.
Casterwill Estate
After finally making it to Sophie's home, they had taken a seat and were served cups of tea by her caretaker and guardian LeBlanche. The man was in his mid sixties, however he still looked good for his age.
He had slicked back hair, a brilliant silver. A set of brown eyes still appearing youthful despite his older age. His face holding a few wrinkles but the rest of his features held a grace and knowledge. His look completed with a nice and prim suit, well tailored and professional.
"Your tea, please enjoy." Setting the tray in the center of the table. He poured each cup mid way, as the steam raised from the liquid. Handing Sophie her cup personally, he bowed gracefully and excused himself.
Dante placed a single sugar cube in his cup and began to gently stir the liquid and brought the cup to his lips. After taking a small sip and a sigh. "Thank you for hospitality, now then. As for our mutual blonde acquaintance." He addressed the elephant in the room.
The two sets of eyes turned to Cathy, she was gently cradling the cup of tea in her hands. Staring at her reflection in the tea. Just as she had when she looked at her self in the sunglasses of her little brother. At the thought of her little brother, her grip tightened around the cup.
Her mood suddenly somehow gotten more sour. "Lok, I had a little brother named Lok." Her shoulders slumped as she opened a door of her life she rarely opens. Taking a deep breath, she resolved her self.
"He disappeared during a house fire when I was younger. Everyone had assumed he was dead." She closed her eyes as she took a sip of her tea. Letting out a shaky breath. Sophie already having heard the story waited patiently. Dante had followed her lead, respectfully letting Cathy take her time.
"Part of me wanted to accept that as the answer, but part of me knew it wasn't the case." Cathy decided to place her cup of tea on the table. "When I saw him, I knew deep down. It was him I know it seems foolish, but I know it's true."
Looking back to the other two people in the room. Waiting for the argument of how foolish she was, how she was grasping at straws. How she should accept the fact he was gone. She should give up. How it was unlikely her little brother was the same angry man she met today.
Sophie's eyes glanced down to the table, her palms cupping one another. Dante took a final sip from his tea and placed it on the table. "Well I for one believe you." He stated simple as he leaned back into the couch, crossing his left leg over his right.
Cathy's eyes lit up in surprise as she looked at the older man in disbelief. "Wait, you do ?" She asked in bewilderment. Her hope taking over her long forgotten sadness.
Dante nodded his head, crossing his arms he nodded his head towards her. "In my line of work, I really don't believe in coincidence. Besides, when I was fighting him. I had a good chance to look him over. Even with sunglasses, you two look similar.
Cathy shot up and reached out to him and took his hands into hers. "Please, I have to get my brother back. The only way I can do that is accepting this new part of my life." She knelt down to one knee and placed her left hand over her heart, but keeping Dante's hands in her right. "Please Dante, teach me." She pleaded.
Dante's amber eyes looked down into her blue ones. Taking a moment to collect his thoughts, he gently took his hands from hers and stood up. " No can do, I'm a professional treasurer hunter, I'm not a teacher. You couldn't afford me." He had began to make his way to the door.
Before another word was said, a hand slammed into a pillar that was to the right of Dante. Dante's eyes followed the arm up to the owner. Sophie Casterwill, she stood in front of him. A fierce look in her eyes. "However, I can."
She removed her arm and crossed them across her chest. "You solve the mystery of her missing father, help figure out what happened to her brother, and train us to be elite seekers along the way." She poked Dante in the chest and gave him a bright smile. "I'll pay you double what the Huntik foundation pays."
At the Dante raised a brow, thinking over his options. He tilted his head slightly. " Including expenses?" He asked, as he felt a small slime threatened to cross his face. After a nod of her head, he let the smile show. "Miss, you have your self a deal.
Organization Safe House
Lok was feeling itchy to say the least, he had been punching the same wall for the past few minutes. His breath was hitched, he slammed his fist into the wall. Imagining Dante's face was in the same spot he hit.
Incubane's amulet was glowing a bright green, with an almost violent shine. With each hit the shine only grew brighter and brighter. With one final yell he punched the wall as cracks began to from the blow. He stood there, breathing heavily his hands clenched into tight fist.
Owen and Jenna stood off to the side, sitting at a table. Food placed on the table with some wine. Owen looked towards Jenna a hesitant look on his features. "So uh, should we talk to him ?"
Jenna merely rolled her eyes as she picked up her glass of wine. Her bruises now healed but not forgotten. "If you want to pull the pin on that grenade, go right ahead." She stated as she brought the red liquid to her lips.
Owen let out a sigh as he stood up and made his way to the blonde. Placing a hand on his shoulder he gave it a gentle squeeze. "Hey man, let get you something to eat, you should." What ever he was going to say Lok's right arm slammed into Owen's.
"Did I say I was hungry !" Lok turned and yelled to his friend. Owen couldn't help but take a step away, not due to the outburst. Due to the fact that Owen sweared he had seen Lok's blue eyes turn red for just a moment.
Realizing what he had done, Lok's face turned to surprise before shifting to an apologetic sigh. "Hey, look I'm sorry." Lok stated as he reached up and loosen his tie. Making his to the table. Taking a seat next to Owen's.
"Hey man, it's all good. You had a long day today." Owen stated, after recovering from his double take. Taking a seat next to his friend and Jenna. Handing Lok a small take out box. Before quickly returning to his food.
Lok took off his glasses and gloves, placing them on the table. Taking a fork full of pasta and shove it in his mouth, and began chewing it slowly. Slowly going over the events of today. His irritation returning ever so slightly, until his thoughts went to a lovely little strawberry blonde Casterwill.
The thought of the problem girl made him grin ever so slightly. She had a fire to her, a fire he was almost memorized to. Looking back to the table, he noticed his two friends were staring at him. "What ?" He asked a hint of annoyance to his tone.
Owen immediately went back to his food, as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. Jenna on the other hand, ether due to the wine or how she is as a person. Spoke freely about her thoughts.
"So that girl, with the ninja freak. What's up with that ?" She asked as she took another sip of her wine. Setting the now empty glass on the table. Her arms crossed as a pleased smile took over her lips.
Lok merely tilted his head to the side gently, his right brow raised slightly. "What do you mean ?" His arms now crossed as well. Matching Jenna, honestly wondering where this conversation was going.
Jenna leaned down resting her elbows on the table, her chin resting comfortably in her interlocked fingers. "Oh come on now. Usually you would have gotten to the point and killed the person." She lifted her self backup and leaned back in her chair. "But with her, you played around. Hell from what I saw, you got real cozy in between her legs."
At the mention of that, Owen had choked on the wine he was drinking. Spitting it across the table, taking a few moments to catch his breath. He shot a look to Lok. "Wait what ?" He shouted out.
Lok shook his head side to side, letting out a deep sigh. Setting his fork down on the table he used his now free hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. "Look, don't think too much into it. I've been setting on the sidelines for a while, so I wanted to cut loose for a bit." Standing up from the table he began to make his way towards his room. Hands in his pockets. "No more, no less." He stated as he went to his room.
Owen looked at the back of Lok, and back to Jenna. "So you gonna tell me what happened?" He asked as he grabbed the bottle and began to pour them a couple more drinks of wine.
Jenna picked up the glass, holding it up to her face. She gently gave it a few swirls before her eyes shifted to Owen's. "I could tell you." She said playfully as she knocked back the glass. She finished the wine and placed the glass back on the table. A playful smile that matched her tone crawled in her lips.
Her hand shot out and snagged his tie pulling him closer to her. Her lips reached up to his ear, her breath gently tickling his neck. "Or I could show you." She gently kissed his cheek as a giggle escaped her lips.
A smile was plastered on his face as he picked up the bottle of wine and Jenna over his shoulder and made a dash towards the sleeping arrangements. Jenna letting out a small giggle as his actions.
Academy Grounds
Sophie let out a small yawn, after the events of yesterday. A history final before summer break seemed small in comparison. Of course she felt confident about it, she took her studies very seriously after all.
As she made her way from the grounds, she noticed two familiar faces waiting for her. Cathy was giving her a big wave. Dante was behind her, keeping a look out for anything suspicious. She didn't know if it was due to his experience or paranoia. However it was welcomed all the same.
She made her way up to them and gave a polite smile. "Hello, didn't expect to see you both here." She wasn't expecting anyone honestly. Part of her was very happy to have people waiting to greet her. It wasn't something she was use to. Other than Santiago and LeBlanche of course.
Cathy gave her a bright nod. "Well, I was talking to Dante about what I remembered from the journal. We might have a lead" she explained in an excited tone, clasping her hands in front of her.
Dante took that as his cue. "She remember a line saying, the secret to the ancient amulet of will sleeps with the golem." Dante began to walk towards the inner city. Keeping his eyes peeled for anything.
Sophie and Cathy followed behind him. Sophie had her chin in her hand. "The secret sleeps with the golem, like the legend of the golem of Prague ?" She asked out load.
Dante and Cathy both nodded. Cathy nudged Dante with her elbow. "And so Dante is taking us to the largest Huntik foundation library in all of Venice!" She exclaimed, doing a little bit of spin before regaining her composure.
Sophie couldn't help but smile at her, ever since she found out her brother was alive. She had been riding a could nine of sorts. Nothing could seem to bring her mood down. Maybe a few books will at least get her to clam down.
They had made it to the library after a short walk, and after the first hour or so, Cathy could have sworn she was reading the same book over again. She leaned back in her chair and let out a small sigh. "I've read three different books, and most of them have the same thing written down."
Dante looked up from his book and nodded at her. "That's about how it goes. A lot of the information might be the same. However , you never know when one book might have that one clue you need." He walked over and placed another book in front of her. "Sometimes being a seeker is more than fights and tombs."
Cathy nodded as she opened another book and glossed over a few pages. "Well this library is going to be my tomb if we don't find something useful." She mumbled to her self as she flipped through a few more pages.
She look towards Sophie, the girl was already on her tenth book. Sophie was a reading machine, she on the other hand wasn't. Suddenly the voice of her winged titan friend came from behind her. "Maybe it's time for a little break ?"
Cathy immediately shot up from her seat, placing her hands on the table. "I think that's a wonderful idea !" She stated cheerfully, she let out a stretch with a satisfied sigh. Sophie gave her a simple smile, while Dante nodded his head.
He stepped away from the table, leaving the book behind. "Alright Cathy, let's review was I was teaching you this morning." He stated as he pulled off his yellow trench coat. Holding his hand in the air, a small glow came to his eyes. "Boltflare!" He called out as the bolt of fire formed in his hand. The glow began to overtake the library, everyone stopping and looking at the display of power.
"A simple spell like boltflare anyone can do, it's usually the first spell any seeker learns." He explained as the bolt disappeared, planing his hands on his hips he gave Cathy an encouraging nod. "Now you try."
Cathy smiled and stood next to him, remembering the scroll and text Dante had given her to study this morning, remembering the steps clearly in her mind. She gently raised her hand in the air. Letting out a deep breath, she resolved her self and with a gently whisper she felt a sense of energy transfer to her palm. "Boltflare."
The same orange light that Dante had conjured mere moments ago reappeared. Only hers wasn't as potent, Cathy brought her hand to her face and look at the bolt she made. It was the size of a small apple, however it was there.
Dante gave a small smile, placing a hand on Cathy's shoulder. "Not bad, not bad at all. Especially for your first time." Dante took another step back, holding out an amulet. It looked like a small shield. Blue with a darker blue trim. A light blue gem in the center of the amulet. "Now let's see if you can summon a titan. Usually I would wait. However you are showing good promise."
Cathy reached up to the new amulet hanging around her neck, holding it angled up to her face. It was the same one he was holding. What did he called it again? Yes it was Freelancer.
Letting the amulet lay against her chest, she closed her eyes and concentrated on the titan inside. "Please." She locked her fingers together, a golden light overcame her. The gem in center began to shine brightly. "Charge Freelancer!"
Her eyes shot open, as a glow of golden light appeared from the amulet. She followed the light the swirled around her, until it shot a few feet in front of her. A quick flash and a moment later. Standing before her was the titan Freelancer.
It stood taller than her, dressed in dark blue armor. Golden trimming along the chest plate, running down to the legs. The hands covered in brown leather gloves. In his left hand was a shield that resembled the amulet, in his right hand was a giant lance. The lance was almost as big as the titan was, being held by a giant right hand that made Freelancers left hand seem all the much smaller. The helmet it wore, was circular at the top, white cloth running down the right and left side of the titans head. Its face was hidden by shadows of the helmet. Only thing she could see were two glowing blue eyes.
Cathy walked up to the titan slowly, feeling a little drained after invoking her first titan. "Hello Freelancer, I'm Cathy!" She exclaimed excitedly. She poked the titan in the chest playfully. "Keep me safe okay?" She said with a bright smile, the titan looked down at her. Just staring at its seeker.
Cathy met its eyes, she knows Freelancer couldn't talk. However part of her felt something. In the back of her mind. A small sensation of understanding washed over her. She would be in good hands. Her titan, she smiled as she held a hand out to Freelancer. "Friends ?"
Freelancer set its lance to the side, and held up its right hand. Extending its pointer finger out and into her hands. After the awkward shake, she recalled the titan back to its amulet. Turning back to her friends, she was taken aback as the other people looked at her in bewilderment. "What?" Was all she asked.
Defoe was standing in front of the library door, foot tapping impatiently. He checked in with the spies they had in the Huntik foundation, he speculated that they would have to do research on what ever it was they found. Where better place to go than the place with the most available resources.
One of the things in their world of seekers and secrets, is the lack of actual guards at facilities. Most places are guarded by spells, ancient and mystical traps, and on the rare occasions titans. However, in a building in a major city such as this. A simple barrier spell is all they have for a line of defense.
The sun was finally setting, Defoe's smile only deepened. "Lok, come here for one moment." He asked the younger man over. Lok was suddenly beside him, a curious look on his face. "You called ?"
Defoe started to reach into his inner jacket and pulled out a small glass vial. A thick green liquid filled to the brim, a simple cork keeping the mysterious liquid from spilling. "Tell me, when you want to place a barrer on a building, where would you place it?" He asked as he gently pulled the cork off the vile.
Lok simply tilted his head, mulling the question in his mind for a few moments. "Over an archway, or a charm in the wooden frame." He stated simply, arms crossed. Looking over the library, wasn't a bad place if he could be honest.
"Good answers all around, however a few flaws." Defoe stated as he made his way to the front door. "Archways while a good place to put them. They will be the first place they will look." He held the vile over the door, slowly tilting it more and more to the side. "Charms being hidden in frames is better, however not the most secure place. Any handyman can find it and remove it." He let a drip of the green liquid began to pour over the doorknob melting it like melted butter.
"A doorknob is simple, and hidden in plane sight." As the melted doorknob hit the ground a faint glow shimmered off the building before slowly evaporating. Placing the empty vial back into his jacket pocket, he turned back to Lok. "Now then, let's get into some trouble."
Lok taking that as a green light, he made his way into the building. Moving through hallways and into the big chamber housing thousands, upon thousands of books. He was almost lost in the rows of leatherback books. Until he heard the sounds of fighting.
He walked onto one of the ledges over looking the main lobby of the library. What he saw made him do a double take. He was watching Dante Vale and Sophie Casterwill's body guard Santiago in a clash of staffs.
"My lady will not be going to Prague, it is too dangerous!" Santiago stated in a harsh tone. Pushing against Dante, the two men struggling for dominance. With a quick flurry of movements he had disarmed Dante had disarmed Santiago.
Well no time like the present, he thought to himself self as he jumped off the ledge and landed on one of the many tables in the main lobby. With the loud sound of the impact brining an eerie silence to the library.
Sophie was horrified at the fight that was taking place between Dante and Santiago, while she appreciated the concern. It was too much to challenge Dante, to test his honor. Something along those lines. To make it worse, Lok had showed up out of no where.
Lok slowly stood to his full height already holding an amulet in his hand. "Mind if I cut in gentlemen?" He asked his head tilted, his tone sickly innocent. A sly grin creeping onto his features.
Santiago already charging at the man drawing out a amulet of his own. Before he could invoke his titan a raypuls slammed into his side, knocking him to the ground.
Organization suits began to surround the Huntik team, Redcaps and Mind drones charging into the room behind them. Lok began to let out a small chuckle. "No interruptions, no more waiting." He raised his hand above his head as a bright green light shined brightly. "It's play time, Incubane!"
The titan slammed its goat hooves hard into the floor, its red chest plate and wrist guards trimmed with gold accents. Red cloth running over its thighs and over its shoulders swinging gently. It's pale skin only making its deep red eyes more menacing, its horns a pristine white and smooth.
The moment it charged all hell broke loose, Incubane charged towards the men holding out its fingers as ten beams of red blasted towards them. The two men barely had enough time to dodge out of the way as a small explosion went off behind them.
Dante not wasting any time as he called out for his Caliban. "Come on out Caliban!" The titan quickly emerged and engaged in combat with the goat demon titan. Caliban attempted to slice Incubane into pieces, only for it to use its power legs to jump around and kick the blade away.
Lok quickly followed suit. "Shadow speed!" He called out as his body began to become covered in a faint red glow. He rushed towards Santiago, driving his right knee into the man's side. Followed up with a three punch combo in the same spot, before finishing it with a swift round house kick to the side.
Lok could only smile as he hear a snap and a cry of pain come from the man. With the increased speed of his shadow speed spell he sent the body guard flying off to the side. Santiago could only clutch his shattered ribs and cough up a bit of blood.
Lok looking around noticing that Dante was distracted by Grier, along with Caliban being held up by Incubane and Grier's titan Breaker. He walked up to Santiago and slammed his foot into the broken side of his fallen foe. "Don't worry Santiago, some broken ribs build character."
He gently leaned down and whispered into the fallen man's ear. "Don't worry, if Sophie comes to Prague. I'll keep a good eye on her." He finished by slamming the man's face into the ground.
As he walked away, turning his back to him. He heard a small grunt of pain. Followed by the sound of heavy breathes and grunts of pain. Letting out a deep sigh, he turned his head slightly and look at the almost broken Santiago. A look of rage and determination on his face. "You won't touch her." Was all he could choke out.
Lok all be it was impressed, however he was rather done with their little interaction. He pulled out another amulet nonchalantly. "Mind drone." He called out as a flash of red and the appearance of the armored one eyed insect appeared. "Do me a favor, knock him around a little bit." He took at few steps forward, only to pause and turn back around. "Oh and bring me the body once you're done." The eye of the Mind drone flashed a dark red in understanding.
Cathy was fighting for her life once again, dodging spells left and right, ducking under red cap claws. Trying to fire off a small boltflare here and there. Sure it wasn't much, but it was doing something damnit!
Realizing she might be a little out of her league, she looked down to the amulet around her neck. Could she summon it under pressure? She didn't know, all she did know was that she had to do something. Otherwise she was done for.
"Charge Freelancer!" She called out as the lance wielding titan appeared slamming its lance into an eye of a Mind drone. Dismissing it back to its amulet, it slammed its shield into the ground, as if daring someone to try and get through it.
"You sure you want to mess with my titan ?" She called out playfully as the two suits looked at one another and immediately retreated. "Didn't think so." She called out with a giggle and ran up to freelancer. "Thanks for the help big guy!"
A sudden crash brought her attention to where Sophie was, she was still trying to find anything she could on the legend. Unfortunately, Lok had managed to make his way towards her. "No Sophie! Freelancer let's go!" The two began to charge after him.
Before she could get any closer, the titan Incubane was suddenly in front of the two of them. Wagging its finger in a disapproving manner. A devilish smile on its lips, it let out a demonic laugh and charged at the two of them.
While the other two are busy, Lok made is way to the trouble girl. "A pleasure to see you again." He stated evenly, a grin coming over his face. His gloved hands groaning at his grip.
Sophie merely frowned holding books to her chest, getting into a semblance of a fighting stance. Ready to deliver a mean kick to the blonde. "Wish I could say the same."
He took one step towards her, until he felt drained ever so slightly. Turning back around, he saw the his Mind drone had been defeated. Seeing the cheeky smile of Santiago, and Dante helping him as it seemed the tide of battle had shifted.
Well, he was at least gonna get one thing done today. He turned back around to take care of the trouble girl only to feel two soft lips press against his. Looking down just a little he saw Sophie was kissing him. He was shocked to say the least.
Sophie felt the shock running through his body, and she wouldn't lie. She felt a jolt run through her as well. However, all according to her plan. She pulled back and slammed her forehead into the bridge of his nose.
Lok let out a cry of pain and he began to fall back a flight of stairs. He could hear her saying something about being more effective, he couldn't quite remember. He heard a snarl come from Incubane and suddenly everything went dark.
As he awoken, the sounds of battle could be vaguely heard. Followed by the sounds of a retreat, he looked and saw that Incubane had stopped him midway down the steps.
He slowly picked him self back up, letting out a small hiss. It was official, he was going to kill that girl one day. He subconsciously licked his lips, tasting a hint of cherry and blood. Reaching up he feel a small trail of blood running from his nose. She had almost broken it, with a small growl he slammed his hand into the steps of the library. Shattering it in pieces.
However, judging by the pleased look on Defoe's face. It wasn't over, not by a long shot. "Wrap up everyone, looks like we are heading home." With that Lok's predatory grin returned. It was time for round three, only with home field advantage.
Author's notes- chapter six is a wrap, next time we will be meeting back withthe crew and the organization's home turf. Hope you enjoyed, see you all next time !
