I Love You
8x06 fix it!
Buck sat there, staring at the door Tommy had just walked through.
What had just happened? How did this happen? They were happy. They were solid. They'd just celebrated their six-month anniversary. They were… over? No. Buck couldn't let that happen.
He stood and yanked open the door, running down the hall to elevator. It was already moving down so, rather than wait, Buck opened the stairwell door and rushed down the stairs. He stumbled, cursing. It would be just his luck to get dumped and break his beck on the same night.
By the time he reached the ground floor, he was panting harshly, and sweat had gathered along his brow. Still, he ran outside, looking frantically around the parking lot.
There! Tommy's truck! He hadn't missed him. Buck jogged over and rapped on the window.
Tommy's head shot up and Buck was shocked to see the man's face covered in teras. If he was so broken up over this, why did he walk out? Tommy rolled the window down.
"Buck-"
"I love you," Buck said, and Tommy stared at him. "Maybe I should have led with that upstairs. Maybe I never should have suggested we move in together, it's okay if it's too soon. But you don't get to decide that one day I'll break your heart and then go and break mine instead. You're right, we might not be forever. Cause in our line of work, forever could end tomorrow. But what I know is that I love you Tommy Kinard. I love you and I want to be with you and I see a future with you. Maybe a first and a last aren't always the same thing, but it doesn't mean they can never be.
I have survived a literal tsunami, getting crushed by a firetruck, and being struck by lightning, and all those moments have led to this one where I am telling you I love you. I know you're scared, and I know you've been hurt before. But Tommy, let me show you it's not always like that. It doesn't always have to end in heartbreak. It doesn't always have to end."
Buck stared at Tommy who hadn't said a word, just continued to stare at him as his tears flowed freely.
Tommy opened the door of his truck and stepped out slowly, still staring at Buck. He took the younger man's face in his hands and leaned forward, pressing their lips together.
"I love you Evan," he whispered as they pulled apart. A sob escaped Buck's lips.
"I love you so much," Tommy said, "I'm so sorry. I love you."
Buck silenced him with another kiss, twining their hands together. He led the way back inside and back up to the loft, knowing they had a lot to talk about. But Buck knew they'd figure it out. They loved each other.
I am in complete denial about how the episode ended and have decided to make my own canon. I loved Tommy's character these past couple seasons and I loved him and Buck together. Hopefully one day we might get to see his character again.
Thanks for reading!
