CHAPTER 12

On Monday the following week, Ana was working on a financial assessment of a corporate acquisition target. She was checking the causality of the revenue and stock drop of the company. As she was going over background and quarterly statements, an accounting employee came knocking on her door. Ana's PA was at lunch and Ana answered the door. There was a young girl standing there in a blue sheath dress shifting nervously from side to side.

The girl said, "Miss Steele, can I talk to you?" Ana let her in and closed the door.

Ana said, "Come in and have a seat." The girl took a chair across from Ana's desk.

Ana sat down in her chair and asked, "What can I do for you?"

The girl said, "My name is Denise Gorman, I work in the Marketing Department, I think I need to tell you about something I have seen in two departments, Marketing and Developmental Research. I'm not sure if it's in the others or not."

Ana said,"Ok, Denise, calm down and just tell me all the details."

Denise told Ana that she had seen a supervisor in the Marketing Department install software that she had taken out of her purse and installed it on the department's computers three days ago. The same supervisor downloaded files off the system and put the information back into her purse on a thumb drive. She said the glimpse that she got were marketing files of not released product information such as, marketing promotional materials, development of campaign initiatives, marketing strategies, ect. Then yesterday, she was assigned to work with a Research and Development Department supervisor on a project dealing with the new ElectroTech product line coming out in the next six months for the security software being developed, which is due to be trademarked and patented next week. Then she said, she also saw the RD supervisor downloading internal and external schematics of the product from off the system, then put the thumb drive into his suit jacket pocket. She said that she never said a word and just did her job not alerting anyone that she had noticed anything.

Ana was blown away, because they were supervisors from two departments so far. And got the names of the two supervisors Patrica Ziare and James Devlin. Ana contacted the CEO Martin and COO Karen Daniels, and the Chief of Security, David Ross, to meet her in her office. Ana had Denise tell her story to him and what she had seen. He sent Denise back to her section and gave her a contact number to notify him if she sees anything more peculiar on her job in the meantime.

By the time Ana got home Christian was still working late so she just went to her house to do some research. She started running deep background checks on Patrica Ziare and James Devlin. She had to wait for the results .

Christian called. Ana said, answering the phone, "Hello, Christian." She sounded kind of distant and occupied. He could hear the keys typing in the background.

Christian asked, "What are you doing at home? I thought we were having dinner here."

Ana said, "I can't because something has come up at work and I have to do some background work to find an audit trail." She talked clipped and short.

Christian asked concerned, "Baby, I know you too well, what's going on? Maybe I can help."

Ana said seriously, "It's an internal security issue at work I'm working on."

Christian told her, "You know if you need me, I'll help you in any way I can, right?"

Ana said, "I know, Christian. It's just too sensitive right now. I'll tell you when I can." Now, he was really concerned.

Christian said, "Ok, I'll miss you tonight but leave you alone for this evening, baby. I love you, Anastasia."

Ana said stoically, "I love you too, Christian." They hung up. Christian sat there wondering what kind of security issue she was dealing with that had her so absorbed.

Ana got partial reports back showing two cash transactions each in both of their bank accounts for $50,000 repeated bi monthly over the last four months. The account has $58,264,194.59

More data came in on where the money was sent from, a company called Capital Marketing. The information of the money trail led to an overseas bank account in Belize. She used her ghostware and cracked the password and account ID into the overseas account bypassing the encryption codes. She got into the user data profile of the account and couldn't believe what she found….

The shell company was set up through GEH. Specifically, the company was under the umbrella of corporations and opened up under a subsidiary company called Dynamic Technical Engineering. The CEO is a man called Jackson R. Hyde.

Ana sat there staring off into space. Christian's company was stealing her electronic inventions in development and marketing, so far. She needed to see how far down the rabbit hole this goes. She did a background check on Jackson R Hyde.

Ana also found that he had no prior experience other than moving up the corporate ranks in six years to CEO. How did he pull that off? That should have sent up red flags to Christian's security when they acquired ownership in 2009. They must not have dug deep like she had? Why did they not notice this? Ana could be sure that Christian had no idea that this guy was doing these things behind his back to her corporation and maybe others. Christian was going to go down for it if they didn't stop the son of a bitch. The first thing she needed to do was get Christian and Taylor involved.

Ana picked up the phone and called Christian. He answered, "Hello, Anastasia?"

Ana said, "I need you to come to my house with Taylor. I have to tell you something but not over the phone."

Christian asked, "Is it bad?"

Ana said, "Dire."

Christian said, "We'll be right there."

When Christian arrived with Taylor, she had more information on Hyde. It seems he was in the Detroit foster care system for a longtime and was moved to new homes every two to five months for hurting the other children and touching the girls inappropriately. This was from age ten to fourteen and a repeated pattern.

Ana needed Christian to find out if he is inappropriate with females on staff there because if he was such a dirty little shit at ten years old forward and it continued. He could be a real son of a bitch to women now in the workplace. Christian also needed to set up an audit trail in the company to find out where the money has come from to fund his ventures of bribing her employees because it sure as hell wouldn't be out of his pocket.

Ana sat down and told Christian everything and showed him and Taylor her data. Christian yelled, "That could compromise my company and get me in trouble with the Economic Espionage Act, the FTC, IRS and the FBI."

Ana said, "Not if we do it together, Christian. Your culpability will not show if we work together to take the bastard or bastards down. Let's talk to our security chiefs, top executives and FBI representatives. We don't know if he has compromised other companies within or without your company. He has money in an account in Belize of over ten million dollars, as well as the shell company there with over fifty eight million dollars. I have the passwords and IDs. We should meet tomorrow at my company. All the executives can't be gone from the premises at the same time. Martin and Karen need to be in on this."

Taylor said, "Let's set up a time tomorrow first thing. One thing I find ironic, sir, is that you and he are from the Detroit foster system."

Christian said, "See if Welch can bring up anything on that?" Taylor nodded. Christian kissed Ana deeply and said, "It shows how much you trust me coming to me with this. I'm so sorry that he targeted your company in this, but I would not have found out sooner had he not. Let's take down this son of bitch together, baby and make it right." Ana got up on her toes and kissed his lips. He smiled and said, "I'll see you in the morning at your company. Good night, baby." He caressed her face and walked to the SUV with Taylor."
