Reno & Akane Special
Party was in its peak, everything around was a colorful mess of people, collected from the top of the most influential companies in the world present days, to a humble average people, Soldier, ex Avalanche, all at one place, simply having fun.
World was changing again, and that change could be sensed, especially by those who passed through it all, from the very beginning.
Turks were sitting at their table; most of the girls were at the dancing, guys pretending this kind of fun was harming their dignity. Dancing, jumping around like an idiot, that wasn't for them, guys were supposed to be still, cold and dark.
Reno left his black jacket at the back of the seat and rolled up his sleeves. For very long he wasn't wearing his pilot glasses, now his hair was even more wayward.
His blue eyes, having that green turquoise halo around the pupils, following one of the girls in the room. She was little, ridiculously short compared to him, her body feminine, attractive, still not compulsive, like Tifa was. Akane was dancing and her blue metallic hair catching the light of the projectors from time to time, turning white. He was watching her almost half an hour already, supporting his hands on the top of his glass, forgetting to drink.
"Hey, zombie man" Rude pushed him. "Earth calling Reno!"
"What?" he looked around. Tseng, Elena, even Rufus had that smile on their face.
"Just go to her." Elena told him.
"Nah, I won't." He got his still full glass and had a sip.
"Come on, man!" Rude pushed him out of his seat.
"Go talk to her!" Tseng threw the menu at him.
Reno left his place only to make them get out of his back. Walking between dancing people, he was reaching closer and closer to her, his heart started pumping telltale loud.
Neon projectors ran chaotically at the bar, making his white shirt literally shine, so he couldn't pretend not to be there, even if he wanted to. He stopped before her, feeling like an idiot from high school, spotting a beautiful girl and not being able to say "hi".
"You having fun?" he asked, and she smiled at him.
"Actually, yes. Have to thank Rufus, party is great!"
Reno put his hands in his pockets. What was he supposed to do now? Talk about weather? He was sure his colleagues were laughing at him right now,
"Oh, come on, don't be so numb. Let's dance!"
She got his hands, moved him in the rhythm of the music, of Marlene's favorite band songs, Morrigan or something, the raven goddess.
Reno felt stupid doing this, but she was so happy, he never actually saw Akane so happy and carefree for all the time.
"I'm sure you can do better than that!" girl urged him. He was literally standing like a cut log at her moving his arms, now performing a spin on herself.
Reno held her hand and pulled her, turning her back against him, wrapping his arms around her. They were moving in sync, saying nothing. World was spinning around them. He rested his chin on her shoulder, but didn't go further, it was enough for the moment.
His bright red hair gives sharp contrast on his white shirt, but almost invisible in the chaos of colors. Both of them lost in that mess of bodies, moving, dancing, known and unknown faces showing and disappearing in this crazy dance.
Akane freed herself from his grip and turned to face him, holding his arms again, looking at his face like she was trying to memorize every part of it, the shadows thrown on his eyes, the red tattoos under, the straight nose, the silent lips.
Again she needed to lift on her toes to reach them, slowly kissing him.
Reno answered, lost in all this loop of music, bodies and unwanted light. He was holding the kiss for a while, the touch was soft and calm for now, he could proceed so easily, but he was just holding her, keeping the moment like this.
"Where would you be right now, if you could be anywhere?" he asked.
Akane smiled, still holding him.
"Right here."
Their foreheads touched, both standing in the middle of all this, for a single moment, lasting a half of a human life.
THE END
.
.
Thanks to all the people who spent time reading my very first fanfiction, written in a language that wasn't my native one.
Since the very beginning I loved the part Turks had in the story so after almost twenty years I decided to write my own thing about it. I tried to follow the nature of the original characters as most as possible. Learned a lot about the story in the process, finding new facts, and did a whole research, actually.
Naturally I'm not into that kind of art and prefer to create my own characters, but for me it was fun. I hope it was the same for you too.
.
This part is somehow goodbye. After Genesis is gone, all his copies fade with him. I didn't write that to the previous part in purpose.

Regards!
