Chapter 8: Negredo Pannacotta

Back to loly hell~ Today's a wonderful day~, Akita thought to herself as she saw that she was once more in-

"About time you woke up", Caroline shouted as Akita sat up on her bed.

Fuuck...

"... on your feat", she continued as she banged the bars with her baton.

"Our master wishes to speak with you", Justine added. "It is for your own sake, take his words to your heart."

"First off: Let us celebrate our reunion", said Igor as Akita looked on in frustration.

Creepy as fuck~

"Second: It seems as though you've awakened to your power - and a very special one at that. Your rehabilitation can finally begin."

"Rehabilitation...", Akita asked.

"Do not worry. There is no need to understand everything for the time being..."

I disagree!

"... But for now, you will be training your Persona, which you have awakened to. In other words: your "mask" - an armor of the heart when confronting worldly matters. I have high expectations for you..."

Akita took a deep sigh. "What do you mean..."

"No need to worry. You will learn when the time comes", Igor explained as Akita stared with a blank expression. "By the by... have you come to appreciate the Metaverse Navigator? Using it will allow you to come and go between reality and Palaces."

"Why?"

"I bestowed it to you as a means to train you as a thief."

"It's a gift from our master! You better take care in using it, Inmate", Caroline yelled as Akita thought of kicking her like a football, like the Americans.

"Devote yourself to your training so that you may become a fine and elegant thief...", the other twin added.

Igor chuckled. "It must be disheartening to make use of the Metaverse Navigator alone. Should there be others who would rove beneficial to you, I will grant it to them as well. This is all for you to grow as a most excellent thief...", Igor explained. Akita then straightened as she heard the bell ring.

"Hmph, it's time. Go back and enjoy whatever rest you might have...", said Caroline as Akita's head began feeling light and everyhting faded from blue to black to white.

Akita woke up. She looked around to see light coming in and heard the rain hit the building. Getting up, she brushed her teeth and changed into her school uniform and tied her hair into a braid. Going down she still felt a bit sleepy, but shook it off, ate her breakfast and headed out. Flipping the sign to show "OPEN", felt the rain on her neck and brought out her umbrella. Getting on the crowded train, she listened to the other people on the train.

"What was the conductor thinking, charging into the station at top speed like that?"

"Did your hear, chikan incidents started going up recently..."

"Didn't you hear? The guy totally lost it. It's been happening a lot lately."

"All these accidents are because people are suddenly losing their minds, right?"

"Well between the economy sucking and how depressing the news always is, it's not really surprising..."

Getting off the first train, Akita gets ready to switch to another one and goes into a growing group of students.

"Look, isn't that her", said a female student behind Akita.

Here. We go. Again..., Akita thought as she sighed from frustration.

"You mean that one with the red ribbon?"

Wait... Am I finally free?!

"Uh, I guess so?"

"She's so thin..."

Wait a second..., she then looked ahead to see a red haired girl standing ahead of her.

"It's not fair, I've got my hair in a pony tail too..."

Why are you people like this..., she thought as she got increasingly more frustrated.

"Okay, and what's that got to do with being thin?"

Thank you!

And as the train arrived, more students gathered and went in. Standing there she realized two things: one, it always felt even tighter in the cart and two, she was standing next to the red haired girl.

The girl looked up at an old woman standing in front of her. "Oh, please take my seat. My station's already coming up."

"Are you sure? Well, thank you", the woman said as the girl moved aside, but just then a business man took the seat.

"Oh wow, what speed... I mean- Excuse me, that seat was for this lady...", the girl said, but the man just looked up and then promptly fell asleep. "Huh..."

Akita sighed. "Want me to "wake him up", Akita asked as the girl looked at her in shock.

"No, it's all right. I can understand his position as well", she stated before looking towards the old lady. "I'm sorry I couldn't help."

"It's all right, dearie. Don't you worry."

"Well at least allow me to carry your luggage, please?"

"Thank you! But isn't it heavy?"

"Not at all! I train plenty", the girl said cheerfully.

When the train stopped, the girl handed back the luggage as Akita left.

"Pardon me", the girl said, chasing after Akita. "Thank you so much for earlier."

"With what?"

"For what you did on the train - speaking up for that older woman. You're a second-year at Shujin Academy, correct? I'm a first-year there myself. Thanking you slipped my mind back on the train, and I didn't ant to be rude to my senior. Please, excuse me", she said before quickly bowing and walking away. Soon, Akita made it outside, where it was heavily raining and pulled out her umbrella. She then made it to school safely, no castles or talking ca- Morganas.

In class, Akita stared out at the rain while listening to Mr. Ushimaru, her social studies teacher.

"... I'll be teaching you the rules of society this year. Hmph... You all look like you've been spoiled growing up. Can't wait to see who disappoints me the most this year. A certain dictionary defines a year as "a period of 365 disappointments." The books title is about as cynically satirical as the rest of it. It's "The Devil's Dictionary," by Ambrose Bierce." The man looked at Akita with a glare. "Hey! New girl", straightening her back, she looked at the teacher tiredly. "Tell me what the Devil's Dictionary defined as the chief factor in the progress of the human race."

"If I have to guess... Money?"

"Hmph... Knew it, all looks, no brains. I didn't expect you to know anyway... The correct answer is "malefactors" or villains. Remember that. Sure, villains can affect the course of history. But remember that this definition is a sardonic witticism, nothing more. Here in the real world, villains don't push humanity forward. All they do is spread chaos and strife. Like this girl who's just looks, but no brains..."

Well fuck you too then...

"I guess she doesn't study after all..."

"He's totally right about her... she's just like Takamaki..."

"We should stay away from her- Shit! The teacher's looking at us!"

"I know you've all heard the reports of these agitators stirring up trouble", he said, looking at Akita.

Fuck~ You~ Too~

"We don't have any room for criminals here. Not in school, and not in society. Am. I. Clear?"

"Got 'em!"

"Lol."

Man, I hate it here...

After school Akita is walking along the hallway and listens to the others students while yawning.

"I hear this cute first-year came!"

"Wow, that girl in the ribbon is really thin. Is she a first-year?"

"I wouldn't mind her jumping with me. Hehe..."

"Dude, gross..."

"The delinquent and the honor student, arriving at the same time? Uh-oh..."

"But one's cute and the other's pretty hot... It might be fun..."

"Yeah, but assault. blackmail, drugs... She's done it all..."

"Yeah and apparently she carries around a knife..."

And as she walks through the hallway, she hears a familiar voice.

"Hey"

"Shit..."

"... Takamaki."

"Huh", she turns to see Mr. (Rapeman) Kamoshida talking with Ann

"Things habe been pretty dangerous lately with all those accidents", Kamoshida stated with a smirk.

"Sorry, I have a photoshoot today. It's for the special summer issue, so I can't afford to miss it...", she said in a panic.

"Hey, now... Being a model's fine and dandy, but don't work your pretty little butt off to the bone..."

Gross...

"... You did mention not feeling well, right? Something about appendicitis?"

"Yes. I keep planning to go to the hospital, but I've been too busy... Sorry to worry you", Ann stated with a stiff tone.

"Well, you must feel lonely too~... I feel bad for keeping you best friend at practice so often... Oh, and... Be careful around that transfer student. She's got a criminal record, after all. If something were to happen to you..."

"... Th-thank you."

Oh yeah, fuck this guy...

"Please excuse me...", she said before quickly walking away.

"Tch...", Kamoshida then looked to see Akita. Walking over, he smirked, making Akita want to puke. "Hello there~"

"Hi, Kamoshida...", she answered while clutching her wrist.

"I just want to remind you that if you need help with anything, remember that I'm always here."

"Thank you..."

Lifting his hand, he flicked the rim of Akita's skirt to lift it up. "But remember, I don't like being blown off." He then walked upstairs.

I'm gonna kill you...!

Finally walking outside, she finds Ryuji waiting outside. "Yo."

"What? Were you waiting to ambush this poor undefended girl", Akita said with enough corniness that she could easily be a theater girl.

"Wait what!? No! Wait...! Um...", as Ryuji fumbled to find words, Akita couldn't hold her laughter. Realizing what she was implying, Ryuji blushed. "Shut up! Please, you're gonna kill me... Agh! A-ny-way! I wanna talk about that castle from yesterday. I tried telling my self it was just a dream... but I couldn't do it. I can't just act like nothing happened. It's all connected to that bastard Kamoshida after all. I wanna find out what's up with that place, no matter what. And y'know, you're the only person I can rely on for this stuff. So, you in?"

"Y'know you could just ask me on a date like a normal person...", she answered with a smirk.

"Ignoring that."

"Hah, sure. I'll help you."

"Nice! Okay, glad we're in this together. I think we should try and retrace our steps from yesterday. In the meantime, you're walkin' to the station, right? Let's go together." Akita smirked. "Don't do it..."

"All right..."

"Now... Lemme know if you notice any other weird buildings on the way."

"Of course", Akita responded while walking towards the station. Not a bad guy... I should probably just go along with him... might be fun.

Walking around the city, Akita notices Ryuji looking around frantically.

"If a huge castle like that really exists, I'm sure we'll find it in no time... When'd they build something like that though", he said before looking at the alley they walked through previously. "We walked that way from here, right?"

"Maybe?"

"When you put it that way, I'm not so sure anymore...", he said before walking into the alley and towards the school only to find the school. "We're at school..."

"Good eyes..."

"There wasn't anything out of place along the way, right? I didn't see no castle either...", he said, scratching the back of his neck. "... We must've made a wrong turn somewhere. Let's try again."

"Seriously...?"

"No worries. I won't mess up this time. Let's go."

And as they try again, they fail and end-up back at the school.

"For real", Ryuji said before leaning against the school's gate. "Is it smaller than we think it is? What do you think?"

Akita thought back to her dream. "Check your phone."

"Tried it. But I didn't see anything like it around here... Wait a sec'! Hey, that reminds me - didn't you have a navigation app thingy on, back then?"

"A navigation app?"

"I dunno if it was or not, but I heard some stuff that sounded like one coming from your phone. Y'know, didn't it say stuff like "returned to the real world" or something like that? Lemme see your phone for a bit", he asked as AKita gave him a suspicious look. "What?"

"You won't try to check my stuff right?"

"What!?"

"Perv-"

"Please... Don't do this to me...!"

"Alright...", she took out her phone. "Here..." Ryuji looked at the white casing. "What?"

"Nothin'... Just... didn't expect it to be so... bland..."

"I can still take it away... and smack you..."

"Alright, alright! I'll shut up... Now... Huh, what's this eyeball-looking' thing?"

"I can't delete it..."

"Wait, what? Weird app... Wait... this is it", Ryuji then turned the phone towards Akita. "I knew it! It IS a navigation app! There's even a search history! I'm such a genius", Ryuji declared proudly. "Let's try using it.

"I dunno about this."

"Fine, then I'll do it", he said before pressing the screen.

Kamoshida. Shujin Academy. Pervert. Castle.

...

Beginning navigation...

"There we go! ... And then, we went in a certain direction, and-", suddenly everything appeared to shake but no-one else reacted. Akita looked around in a hurry.

What the hell...!

"Hey, what're you- ... Huh? What the hell!?"

"Good, I thought I was going insane..."

"How are you so calm..."

"I've seen things...", said Akita before everything went wiggly and the phone started blinking as the school morphed into a castle.

"Look! It's the castle from yesterday", he said before looking at Akita. "And so are your clothes! Nice..."

"Down boy...", said Akita as she felt her un-braided hair. Maybe I should leave it like this more often...

They then walked towards the place where they exited. "We made it back... That means what happened yesterday was for real too... Which mean those clothes weren't just my dreams..."

"Again. Down boy..."

"I'm not dog! Anyway, what's goin' on here? This makes no effin' sense at all..."

"Hey", shouted Morgana from behind a corner. "Stop making a commotion."

"Why are you here!?"

The cat.

"The shadows started acting up, so I came here wondering what it could be... To think you and the lady would come back to the entrance when you barely managed to escape..."

"What is this place? ... Is it the school?"

"That's right."

"Then why is it a castle!"

"This castle is the school. But only to this castle's ruler."

"The castle's ruler", Akita asked.

"Yeah, I think the blondie called him Kamoshida, m' lady? It's how his distorted heart views the school."

"Distorted...?"

"Explain it in a way that makes sense!"

"I shouldn't have expected a moron to get it..."

"What'd you say!?"

Suddenly, they all stopped after hearing a scream.

"What was that", Akita asked horrified.

"Do not worry m' lady, it must be the slaves captive here."

"For real...!? Oh, shit... It's for real! We saw other guys held captive here yesterday... I'm pretty sure they're from our school."

"Most likely on Kamoshida's orders. It's nothing out the ordinary. It's like that every day. What's more, you two escaped yesterday. He must have lost his temper quite a bit."

"That son of a bitch!"

Akita turned to look at the boy. "Ryuji?"

"This is bullshit", he said before charging at the nearby door. "Ya hear me Kamoshida?!"

"Doing that won't open it, you know...", Morgana said with a disappointed tone. "But it seems you have your reasons."

"Hey, Monamona!"

"It's Morgana you brute!"

"Do you know where those voices are comin' from?"

"You want to got there? ... Well I guess I could guide you there", Morgana said before looking at Akita. "But only if she comes with us."

"Why me?"

Ryuji gave a nervous look to Morgana.

"I- I just want to get a better look at your powers...", Morgana said with a nervous voice. "Even if you don't agree, I bet this guy will go on even if he has to do it alone. Are you going to help him, m' lady?"

"I never said that..."

"Beautifull, brave and kind... Such a fair maiden...", Morgana said before getting an annoyed glare. "Its settled then!"

"For real!? Thanks, dude...", Ryuji said while looking happily at Akita.

"Let's do this! Follow me!"
