Rin lay silently in the demon made cave, shrouded by the divine energy that Raphael exuded effortlessly as he began to heal. His wounds healed far faster than a normal human being, faster than when he was younger even with his being summoned. But nowhere near as fast as his blood being released from the seal. Raphael waited for the sealed half demon child to wake up.
He was unnerved to see how much Rin looked like him. Sure, angels could and often did have lookalikes in Assiah. But Rin wasn't fully human. He half wondered if Satan constructed him to have his appearance, to make it harder to kill him.
Ah Satan, the real root of the problem.
Countless lifetimes ago, they had been the closest of angels. They were the pinnacle of grace and respected by all. They were the best. He recalled oh so long ago, working along side him. Watching as the world began to take form.
"God is making a new level of existence," a beautifully angelic being commented. Like all the others, there were no defining features, just an energy that identified who the being was.
"I heard. Something with specific form," Raphael had answered with amusement. "God only knows what he will make."
"I'm sure it will be lovely. He's also giving us a gift."
"What gift could he give beyond our existence?" Raphael had asked.
"I don't know. But there are new angels appearing."
"There are countless children of God, you know that," Raphael had laughed, "More younger beings for us to teach."
"That's just it... Some of them are... different."
"Satanel, stop joking around. He gives us our will and we make ourselves different."
"Raphael, can you not feel the wave of energy?"
"I can certainly feel it. There are so many of them."
"One of them stands out though. Their name is Sidriel."
"Oh don't be so nervous Satanel. It was bound to happen that there would be others of our caliber," Raphael had half boasted. There was slight worry though. Something felt off about his dearest and longest companion.
Raphael pulled himself from his thoughts when a soft moan escaped from Rin. He watched as pure blue eyes opened in the darkness. His hands moved across the ground slowly, trying to figure out where he was in the dark.
"Oh, you're awake," Raphael stated dryly. He was glad it was dark, allowing him to smirk at Rin's reaction to his voice.
"Who's there?"
He watched as Rin reached instinctively for Excalibur.
"Oh yes. Use a holy sword on an Archangel," he commented dryly. "That's a bright idea."
"You're... You're Raphael?"
"Yes." Blunt, straight to the point and not showing an ounce of emotion beyond the sarcasm at Rin.
"What happened?" Rin groaned. His head throbbed from the fall and was still aching from the fight with Amaimon.
"Your blood grew too hot. You let your demon blood take control."
Rin didn't respond. Horror came to his face, mixed with regret.
"It'll be harder to keep it contained. Every time your body and soul is exposed to it, the harder it will be to have grace," he said harshly. He raised a brow when he saw Rin sit up, only to lower his head. His hands shook from exhaustion, but he soon clasped them together. Raphael could swear that Rin was... praying. Lord above, he was.
He couldn't deny that Rin was praying from the silent vibe that came from him. It was one that angels recognized with ease. Never did he believe that a Clairvoyant would have a need to truly pray like he was doing. Most talked to the angels, asked to send messages to God, believing that it would reach God easier. Shura didn't even do that. She was fiercely independent from God. He prayed for a minute or so.
"Okay. Let's get out of here," Rin said with a yawn.
"You can't even see down here. You'd only get more lost."
"Well, I hope an angel of god will guide me," he tried to sound cheeky. It just came out as exhausted. Raphael huffed.
"Don't do anything too stupid. I might as well let Shura know you're still alive."
Rin hummed and Raphael left. He needed space between the boy who looked like him, and reminded him of Satan. He left the demon made cavern to see Metatron returning, looking far worse for wear, but clearly not fallen from his fit of wrath.
"Thank you Raphael," Metatron said sounding distracted.
"Anything for God," Raphael dryly responded. Both left to their charges.
Raphael wasn't no time in locating Shura, realizing very quickly the camping excursion was packed up do to what appeared to be a freak demon king attack. He flew next to her, landing in a small open space nearby. She sent a hairy eyeball his way.
"He's not dead," he commented simply, rolling his eyes at her.
"I can't believe Magdalene was killed," a kid said.
Shura spoke softly so as not to be heard. "You sure?"
"He's alive. I was called to look him over. It would take more than a cavern fall to kill him."
"Because he's the son of Satan?" she remarked, taking a drink from her beer can. She took notice of the bristling of Raphael's feathers.
"I'm going to guess you saw his flames? He is indeed the son of Satan."
Shura was silent. She was sipping her beer.
"He's a good kid. You know how worried I was. I thought I would have to tell Yukio that his brother was... dead..."
She finished off her beer and glared at Raphael. He could hear her unasked question.
"Metatron will help him out of the cavern. Since you already figured out who his family is, I think you know he wouldn't want to be outed. Considering his name and outfit when "meeting" Yukio."
Shura grunted at the answer to the unspoken question. She would wait until she was more sober to ream him out. Also, out of earshot of the kiddos who would tell their families and open a whole can of worms she couldn't deal with at the moment.
"Rin. Thank heaven above you're alright," Metatron gleefully swept Rin into his arms. Rin gave a weaker hug in return, with the same amount of love. Rin felt a soft kiss being pressed to his forehead, one an older relative would give a younger one. Rin groaned at the protective gesture.
"Do you have any idea how worried I was?" Metatron added in a more melancholic tone.
"He threatened the others. I didn't want them to get hurt."
"I know. I know Rin. Wrath colored you in your desire of kindness. Loyalty and compassion to those you barely know. It's a difficult line to walk. You're still learning."
Rin tightened his grip a little bit on Metatron.
"It'll be fine Rin. I'm here for you."
Just found out about this one. Sidriel, Archangel of virtues. A miracle maker. An angel with 496,000 ministering angels. Listed as one of the most powerful angels, able to make things from nothing. Listed as one of the princes of Heaven.
Also, a bit on Raphael and Satan's relationship. Um... Yay? Hope you guys enjoyed.
