Chapter 8!

I'm doing it, I'm writing. Just 3 chapters for this fic this time around but I found them quite fun and important for some set up down the line.

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

These Thoughts Don't Count!

*Setsuna POV*

Setsuna often asked questions without thinking of whether or not they should be asked.

"What do you think the time of the dinosaurs would have been like with quirks?" Setsuna wondered aloud, the question spilling from her mouth while her eyes were still glued to the screen, and she registered assorted noises from the other three.

The Documentary Club consisting of herself, Kamakiri, Midoriya, and Yanagi were gathered and, who'd have thought, were watching a documentary. It was Setsuna's turn this time around and she had pulled up a new one about dinosaurs that she had been waiting to see. Between actively watching it and answering questions from her fellow members, Setsuna also voiced her own curiosities and her latest wonder was met with contemplative murmurs that urged her to delve further into the topic.

"Evolution did happen across the different periods so what if quirks appeared then," she posed, already trying to consider what it would have been like. "Who knows, maybe quirks did appear then but fizzled out and didn't show back up until the known age of quirks," the splitter grinned, certain that there was potential here, and she turned to the others who continued their musings.

It was a legitimate possibility in Setsuna's mind and one that really made her brain turn when pondering but soon enough she grasped the subtle shift in her classmates. Either they were considering it more deeply or, more likely, they were about to show her why she shouldn't have asked.

"A T-rex with large, muscular, arms," Midoriya began, already setting the pace, and Setsuna groaned.

"Flying dinosaurs with speed quirks," Yanagi posed right after, following suit, while the only boy leaned back into the couch and looked up.

"Marine dinosaurs that could go to land," Kamakiri threw out and Setsuna decided that she indeed should not have asked.

"Maybe it's better they don't exist," the sharp toothed greenette snorted, kicking herself for not considering what was going to happen, but her other members weren't quite done yet.

"Any large dinosaur with a kind of gigantification quirk," the mantis boy continued, though Setsuna thought that was sort of cool truthfully, but her fellow green haired girl picked up.

"Dinosaurs that could eat others and gain their physical attributes," Midoriya commented while pointing up a finger at her idea as Yanagi closed her eyes contemplatively.

"Intelligent dinosaurs," the ghost like girl scarily whispered.

"Alright, I get it!" Setsuna pleaded, her mind already running wild with their ideas, but her exasperation only made the others more entertained.

"Giant bugs that spew acid," Kamakiri smirked, likely interested at the thought due to his enjoyment of the study of bugs, and Midoriya's ears flicked.

"Mecha-dinosaurs," the taller girl suggested, another cool one in Setsuna's opinion, but then Yanagi swung for the fences.

"Human skinned dinosaurs," she stated which then prompted but a moment of silence before eruption.

"Shut up!" the splitter whined, thoroughly grossed out by the mental image she was just supplied, though she noted that the last suggestion had made the other two go silent.

"That was vile, Yanagi," the insect like student blanched as the fox girl squirmed in place.

"Ughhh," Midoriya groaned, the generally unfazed one looking thoroughly creeped out for once as her hair seemed to almost bristle, but Yanagi paid no mind to any of their reactions save a small self amused twitch of her lips.

"You lose your turn for that," Kamakiri scolded and Setsuna slumped back with folded arms.

"I agree," she seconded yet Yanagi only grinned to herself with an inaudible giggle.

Setsuna really needed to start thinking these things through.

Fresh Is Best

*Ibara POV*

Ibara could not tell if the food was delicious or if it tasted like nothing.

Well, she knew that it was delicious but after watching it go from being alive only recently to being in her bowl put a slight dampener on her appetite. She didn't quite have an issue with eating meat or fish but she didn't exactly want to watch the full preparation that went into that.

Kodai had mentioned chirashizushi and everyone else brought up a desire in having some from the suggestion. So wasting no time, Shoda had offered to make it while Midoriya expressed that she knew where to get some good quality ingredients. The fox girl took Kodai with her while Ibara herself and Shoda prepared everything else. However, Ibara hadn't been expecting them to come back with still barely living fish nor for Kodai to quickly dispatch and begin gutting them. She felt a bit faint at the sudden action, thank goodness their poor gentle hearted Bondo wasn't present at the time, but Kodai wasn't the least bit perturbed. Shoda was praising the black haired girl's knife skills and Midoriya was milling about while cleaning or handing plates and the like to Kodai.

The vine haired student did have to admit that the quiet Kodai was very skilled, even if the sight of her swinging a knife with a neutral face was going to revisit Ibara, as she managed to descale, gut and clean, and then fillet each fish within only a few minutes. It certainly made sense considering that the black haired girl loved fishing, diving, and many other marine activities, all products of her being from the coastal prefecture of Shimane, so she had also gained a strong knowledge of seafood and how to prepare it. Vlad-sensei even made an appearance, having been answering questions and doing paperwork at the dorms, during the whole Kodai butchering fish business. The teacher didn't appear too off put, in fact he seemed more or less amused at the rest of the class, and a few students gave him disapproving looks at enjoying their suffering.

Although Ibara normally helped with the cooking, Shoda had given her a look that said he'd take care of it, much to her appreciation, and under his guidance the other two swiftly assembled the dishes. If she had been part of this escapade then she may have ended up derailing everything to her own way, lecturing included, which could have created a less positive effect.

Shoda, with no disrespect, had honestly informed her previously that she could be overbearing at times with their classmates. This was especially true when it came to class cooking, since they were in charge during those times, and though Ibara saw nothing wrong with her manner of leading she also deferred to what Shoda suggested when he saw it appropriate to inform her. Back to what was at hand however, the chirashizushi was fancifully put together alongside a number of sides that Shoda had made at a few of the others' requests while Midoriya went off to discard the guts by presumably reducing them to ash.

With all of that behind them, the class had gathered around to eat while loudly chattering away with one another. Their meals as a group always got loud, something that even Ibara didn't mind, and the vine haired student quickly found herself with her Cooking Club partner, Shoda. The two of them often interacted even outside of that fact as Ibara found comfort with the soft spoken boy as they discussed either class work or their own interests. Reaching over from where she was sitting, Ibara handed the vice rep beside her a serving dish.

"Try to run the others' cooking plans by me first next time," she requested and Shoda returned a half-apologetic smile.

"Sorry," he sheepishly replied with a sincere expression. "I'll make sure to do that," he assured before a weak chuckle left him, "truthfully it was a bit hard to wrangle them without you though." Ibara nodded at the words and the boy continued on. "I didn't think you wanted to deal with them this time though," he appraised and the vine haired student dabbed at her mouth with a napkin.

"I appreciate the consideration," she told him with a small smile at his courtesy. "Shall we make something for dessert?" she wondered next, glimpsing over the rest of the class as they were steadily finishing off the food, and Shoda hummed quietly.

"Without the others right?" he questioned, though he likely knew the answer already, and Ibara loosed a gentle laugh.

"Definitely, without the others."

Gotta Be You

*Kosei POV*

"Should we rebrand?" Kosei proposed suddenly, drawing the attention of his two friends and fellow club members.

It had been something on his mind for a while after getting to know Komori and Midoriya better and he figured they'd be onboard with his thought process. Komori had a great voice and Midoriya could learn pretty quickly while also being capable of playing multiple things at once so he didn't see any reason in not trying their hands at wider ventures. Plus, he loved all kinds of music so he also wanted to expand his horizons and try out new things when it came to the field. Maybe it was greedy of him but he preferred the word ambitious instead.

"Do we need to?" Midoriya questioned, not even bothering to look up as she tuned her euphonium while Komori sat just behind her, and Kosei hopped up from his spot in the music room they'd commandeered.

"Well," he began, taking a few strides before stopping in place and pointing towards the two of them. "We're the Instrumental Club but Komori can sing!" he exclaimed which brought the girls' attentions to him.

"That's true," their resident fox girl hummed as she tested her valves but Komori's eyes lit up slightly.

"Could we really?" the brunette wondered, gaze up on him, and Kosei beamed at her eagerness.

"Between the 3 of us we can probably play most instruments," he presented confidently though Komori's expression turned into a slight scowl.

"But there's only three of us," the shorter girl pointed out though it was instead Midoriya who spoke up this time.

"I could play some instruments with my tails," she offered, waving the aforementioned parts. "Like the drums or I can push buttons and keys or whatever," the greenette stated plainly though Kosei jumped onto her suggestion.

"And we can pre-record the stuff we can't cover live if it takes more than us three," he eagerly proposed, sure that Komori just needed a little push before she'd agree, and said student knitted her brows as she mulled it over.

"It'll be a lot of work," she warned, eyeing them over, "you two would probably have to play most of the parts."

"It's fine," Midoriya nonchalantly replied, "we wanna hear you sing."

"It'll be fun!" Kosei reassured and he smiled even more when Komori returned a grin of her own.

"So what are we rebranding as?" she readily pressed, clearly excited for the new direction of their club, and Kosei shared a momentary look with Midoriya.

"Music Club?" they answered in tandem and Kosei was sure that the lack of originality wasn't lost on any of them though Komori rolled with it.

"I have to teach you both to sing as well," the brunette exclaimed next which perked Kosei right up.

"We're singing too?" he wondered, both curiously and optimistically since he was up for trying new musical things, and she nodded.

"Of course!" Komori chirped happily and he cheered alongside her while their finally member sighed.

"I can only sing enka," Midoriya dryly told them and they both paused to side eye her briefly. It didn't take more than a beat for the greenette to swish her tails and give in. "Right, I'll try," she promised and with that they were on their way to greater things.

This was only the start of what Kosei was sure was going to be something awesome.

Notes and Stuff

Yui with a knife, that's the take away. The Music Club rebrand is both for them and so I can write in more variety and give you all songs to help imagine what they're up to.

Setsuna's quirk thought was kind interesting when I was considering it but of course in this fic I had to make it something funny instead. I also found myself having Ibara be a bit of a mom friend with this and I kinda like it to be honest.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
