Prologue:
The cold floor is hard and uncomfortable, but the exhaustion forced him to fall asleep independently of how unpleasant it was. The hunger he felt made sleeping difficult but the food was scarce and until he could get his hand on some more, he would have to endure the hunger.
Curled up in a fetal position near a wall, his eyes opened to encounter the sight of a window showcasing heavy snow descending from the bleak looking sky. His eyes were wide open, closing them was not an option anymore, since he could hear steps coming his way.
"Fox Boy!" With someone yelling his name.
Three heavy steps came and a tall and strong man appeared in his line of sight. A bald man with a thick beard wearing a brown parka with matching brown pants.
"Hi, Boris." He sat up on the floor and waved at the man, who's name was Boris.
The two were inside an abandoned house that they used for shelter, it was warm enough to keep them from dying of hypothermia, but it possessed no supplies for them to use. Currently, they were inside of a living room that had nothing but a couch.
"I managed to get a frequency, they said that the invasion will begin in two days." He informed him as he sat down on a couch, he was injured and his leg was bleeding.
"What are their orders?" Fox Boy asked as he stood up from the floor and approached the man. There was a deep cut on his leg, which they didn't have the supplies to actually treat it, meaning that he would probably die.
"They said, " Tell Fox Boy to follow his orders." He explained to him, despite the fact that he had no idea what it was. "What the fuck are the orders?" He asked as he inspected his injured leg. "Ssssssss..." He winced in pain as he checked how deep the wound was.
"To dispatch all of the people that were accompanying me in this journey and prepare the ground for the invasion." Fox Boy bluntly explained his orders to him.
The man widened his eyes as soon as he heard what he said, with him moving his head up right away. Only for Fox Boy to pull out his handgun and fire a bullet into his forehead. Killing him instantly with his head falling backwards and his dead body now leaning completely into the couch.
"Apologies." He told the dead man before putting his weapon in his holster and did a respectful bow as killing him was quite unpleasant.
Once he was dead, Fox Boy made his way to the exit of that abandoned house. Putting the hood of his coat on his head as he opened the backdoor of the house and stepped outside. The cold was worse than it was yesterday, but he had no choice but to ignore it and move on. Walking until he was far away from the house with only the sound of the heavy wind echoing into his ears. The peace and quiet was enjoyable but he knew that it wasn't going to last.
Because tomorrow, tomorrow there will be very loud noises of death and destruction once the invasion begins.
He wasn't aware of the plan. He was just told to accompany a group of marauders that told them about this town that might be worth invading, like they did all the others. It wasn't really that impressive but it might be worth the trouble of occupying due to the surroundings. He was told to get rid of the marauders once the place was located and the surroundings were analyzed completely. His objective was accomplished and now all that he had to do was prepare the ground for the invasion.
As he continued to walk down the path of a snow covered forest, he inspected his equipment. A Walther P38 that was in a hip holster that was strapped to his belt. The pistol was chrome plated, the barrel was turned down and threaded to accept a sound suppressor, but Fox Boy couldn't bring it with him so he will have to find it, the sight was also replaced by a peep sight , it also had a Real ivory grip which wasn't originally there. And a Schianova that was on a leather scabbard that was hanging on his belt, with the blade tempered with high carbon steel with a black-oxide coating to give it some rust resistance and practical stealthiness, the grip formed from sturdy milled fiberglass laminate over the thick tang of the blade to create a truly tough and long-lasting full tang hilt assembly with the original basket-hilt removed in order to reduce the unnecessary weight and the pommel was shaped like a bunny head, mostly because Fox Boy loves bunnies.
Limited equipment, for a low risk mission.
His eyes were wide open in search of infected as the area possessed a high number of Stage 1 infected which were the most numerous ones around.
Here's for you, Nicola and Bart.
Rest forever here in my heart.
Your last and final moment was mine.
That agony is unforgettable.
Here's for you, Nicola and Bart.
Rest forever here in my heart.
Your last and final moment was mine.
That agony is unforgettable.
Here's for you, Nicola and Bart.
Rest forever here in my heart.
Your last and final moment was mine.
That agony is unforgettable.
He sang the song inside of his head over and over again in an attempt to distract himself as he continued to walk. The song made him sad since the mention of those names made him wanna cry. The agony is unforgettable, that was a painful truth that he faced a long time ago.
Luckily, he didn't have to think about that anymore. Because he sees a building from afar. It looked intact, or at least as intact as it could be. Truth be told, he simply wanted something to eat at the moment and he doubted that he would find it, but maybe he was lucky. So he slowly approached until he reached a fence that was blocking his path. There were a few cars in front of it, but none of them seemed to be driveable, but there was a street that might lead him somewhere. Moving his gaze to the left, he realized that there were infected in the street, eating a deer. All stage one infected, two males and one female.
Before they could notice him, he jumped over the fence and pulled out his sword since he needed to conserve ammunition for now as he was on his last clip.
One of the male infected males noticed him standing there right away. "Ahhh!" It grunted and charged at Fox Boy. Only to be stabbed in the chest after he thrusted the blade into him with ease.
Of him removing his blade from it's torso was enough to alert the other two. Who quickly charged at him like the other one. So Fox Boy delivered a front kick on the female one that caused her to hit the ground. Then he swung the sword diagonally into the male infected's head, chopping his head into a diagonal piece that fell on the snowy ground. After that, he walked towards the fallen female infected and stabbed her head with the tip of his sword.
He looked around for a bit to check if there were more of them around. None on sight but he needed to be sure since they could easily overwhelm him if he was taken by surprise. Once it was clear, he turned and looked at the building, it looked like some kind of library. Maybe I could acquire some books. He almost finished the one that he was currently reading, so he would like to get a new one soon.
He put his blade back on the scabbard, and proceeded to pull out his pistol from the holster before making his way inside to check. There could be more of them lurking around. Fox Boy thought. Slowly, he pushed the door open with his feet and whistled loudly in order to attract the attention of any infected that could be hidden inside. But there was no response whatsoever. I guess it's empty. He took a single step past the door, only for him to hear the sound of his radio. "Hm?" Fox Boy kneeled down on the floor and reached inside of his backpack, in order to pull out a portable wireless radio that he had. "This is Fox Boy." He assumed that it was his people that were trying to communicate with him
"Hello." Someone answered back but it wasn't a familiar voice.
Fox Boy didn't say anything. Did someone else pick this frequency?
"Joel, there was someone else with him." He heard a second voice coming from the radio.
Fox Boy quickly turned the radio off. The man had a radio connected to this frequency. Which means that his body was discovered.
Before he could decide his next course of action, Fox Boy heard a noise coming from outside. Once he moved his head to see, he realized that there were people on horseback approaching the library.
Patrollers. Fox Boy decided to enter in order to seek cover, he crouched down and hid behind one of the many bookshelves there.
"What happened here?" He heard a woman's voice.
"Someone definitely killed them." Another woman's voice was heard by him.
After a few seconds, he saw the girls entering the building from his hiding spot.
One of the girls had dark auburn hair fair skin with freckles, a scar bisecting her right eyebrow, a thin stature, She was wearing a green coat and blue jeans.
The other one had black hair tied back in a ponytail and had a light dusting of freckles on her face. She was wearing a brown fur coat and dark pants,
Fox Boy held his pistol tightly, prepared to engage in case of the necessity arising.
