Ch 2

Rosalie held David the entire walk back to their home. The child is so light, she was afraid if she dropped him he would shatter. However, it seemed that David was too engrossed with the other members of her family instead.

As soon as they got close enough Alice cheerfully came over to him. He was a bit bewildered by Alice's bubbly personality and that she smelled like Cotton candy. Jasper smelled like sand while Emmett smelled like firewood. Charlisle smelled like a pine tree and the one called Esme smelled like peppermint.

Every person has a distinctive smell to David, even if it was sort of the same each person have a different variety to it which he can distinguish. But out of all of them he liked Rosalie's smell the most. While she was carrying him he laid his head on her shoulder so he could get closer to her sent.

When they arrived at their home David was amazed to see just how big it was. He thought fairies lived in trees like he did, but they live in a house. They entered the house and Rosalie sat on the couch with David on her lap. The rest stood around. Charlisle looked at Ed knowing he would have the answers he need.

"Ed. What did you see when you looked into him?" At that David looked up at Ed in curiosity. Looked into him? Then it hit him, before he felt a slight pressure in his head, like something or someone was trying to get inside. Maybe it was him, did he look inside his head?

"He's from New York. He was six years old when he was turned. I couldn't see who turned him, but it was a woman's voice. After that he's been living in the woods by himself, I don't know for how long but I can guess about 5 years. The unbelievable part is that he doesn't drink blood. He's able to eat plants and vegetation, which explains his eyes. Not only that he can communicate with trees and even manipulate them. This is something that has never been seen before."

Everyone looked at David in amazement. Here what is probably the very last immortal child and he doesn't even drink blood. With that new revelation Charlisle decided to test that out to see if it was really true. Not that he doesn't trust Edward, but it just can't be that there's a vampire that doesn't drink blood.

He went into the kitchen and poured some human blood into a cup. When he came back everyone noticed immediately what he was doing. Rosalie held onto David a little tighter just incase he would try to jump at him to get it.

David was confused at why everyone was acting strange even Rosalie. When Charlisle approached him with the cup David took a wiff at what was inside the cup and frowned when he smelled that it was blood. Everyone gasped when the little boy turn his head on disgust and pushed the cup away from him.

"Unbelievable." Charlisle whispered.

"This is amazing, truly amazing!" Alice jumped up in glee. Everyone was still trying to process what had just happened.

"Rose." David said quietly. Everyone's attention came back to David who spoke for the first time since they entered their home.

"Yes sweetheart?" Rose answered back gently rubbing his back.

"I'm hungry." Rose couldn't help but chuckle at the innocent request. Not just a second ago Charlisle tried to feed him the one thing that their species need to survive and not only did he immediately reject it but now he's saying he's hungry. Such a mysterious child.

"Well, what you like?" She asked. Though thanks to Edward she already knew what it might in general be, but it's best to have him talk more.

"I like. Fruits and nuts. I really like. vegetables too." His speech was getting better the more he talked. Rosalie smiled, glad that he was so comfortable talking to her.

"Ok. Let's see if we can get some food in your tummy." She said as she stood up with David in her arms and walked into the kitchen. She sat him on the counter top as she brought out a bowl of apples. Usually they wouldn't have anything in there except blood portions, but with Belle being a constant guest they started storing little foods like fruits just in case. Everyone watched in wonder as David happily munched on an apple.

"So what now?" Emmett asked gaining everyone's attention. "What we gonna do with the little tyke?" That was an excellent question. Charlisle was still trying to fully process it. This is the first time he has seen an immortal child, let alone a vampire in general, consume something other than blood.

It's unprecedented and something that can change their whole species as a whole, however no matter how you look at him he's still an immortal child and the Volturi will stop at nothing to destroy him once they learn of him, and possibly them as well. But if they can prove that David is no threat to their secret then they may let him live, but then that would probably bring another problem.

He knew that Aro had immortal children and was trying to teach them self control, but it never worked. And now here one sits on his kitchen counter not only has the most self control than any vampire, but actually eats food.

That and with his other possible gifts there's no doubt that Aro would want him, desperately, like he wants Alice. Speaking of Alice, he looked over to her to see that she was in deep thought. Looks like she's thinking of the same thing too. He waited for her to collect her thoughts. Everyone saw him looking at Alice and also waited for her.

"It's tricky. Eventually THEY will know. The longer we wait the worse it's going to be. We have a chance if we go to him first, but we'll have to play it very safe. The moment Aro learns of our little friend's existence and diet there's no doubt he'll want him. He'll stop at nothing to obtain David."

"He'll have to kill me first." Everyone looked up to see Rosalie with her arms around David protectively. "I'd rather die than let the Volturi have him!" David looked up as Rosalie in confusion. That was a funny sounding name. He wonder who they were. He could feel Rosalie tense and knew something was wrong.

"Rose. Are you ok?" Rosalie looked back down at the precious child in front of her looking at her in concern. She immediately dropped her tension and smiled warmly at him.

"Yes darling. I'm fine, nothing for you to worry about." She said to reassure him. Emmett looked how loving and warm his mate has been with David and don't get him wrong he loved how Rose was. Her attitude and scoffness was sexy as hell, but this right here he knew is her true self. This is what she wanted, more than anything. And even he's starting to get charmed by the little guy who captured his mate's heart. He walked over to them and David looked up at him in curiosity with his big green eyes.

"Yeah, don't worry squirt. We'll take care of ya." He said ruffling his hair. Emmett suddenly paused, and took a wiff. He looked at David and just noticed for the first time the kid smells like straight up outside.

"Woah kid, looks like someone can use a bath." Emmett said chucking. David tilted his head, a bath? He can't remember the last time he took one. Usually he would just find a pond or lake to wash up, but the thought of an actual bath sounded great.

"Alright then, up we go." Emmett said picking up David. He figures the kid can take a break from his mate, but by the look that Rosalie was giving him promised death if he doesn't hand David back to her.

"Woah!" Emmett exclaimed when he held onto David. He didn't notice it when he ruffled the kid's hair but now that he's actually holding him, how could he have not noticed.

"Emmett, what's wrong?" Charlisle asked while everyone else looked at him in curiosity.

"The kid. He's warm." Was all he said as everyone else quickly came over to touch David and were shocked in the discovery.

"Amazing!" Alice cheered.

"Impossible." Whispered Esme.

"How?" Questioned Jasper

"Truly astonishing," Charlisle said. "The blood is frozen like us, but somehow his skin still retain the warmth of a regular human. Truly remarkable." David was very confused on what they were talking about. And sure while everyone that touched him was cold he just figures it's because they live up in the cold forest.

"Well anyways, while I get the tyke cleaned up how about you get something for him to wear?" He spoke to Rose and with that her expression changed to excitement. Shopping for a child for the first time.

"Ohhh! I wanna go too!" Alice pipped up excitedly too as she grabbed Rosalie's hand. Then she grabbed an unexpected Belle's arm as well.

"We'll make it a girl's day!" She shouted in glee as she dragged the other two away. The scene was almost comical the way that none of them could resist Alice when she gets like that. David looked on in confusion. Alice was very strange. Emmett laughed when he saw the look on David's face.

"Don't worry kid that's just how Alice is. You'll get used to it. Now let's get you cleaned up before you make the whole house smell like the woods." David have a small pout at hearing that. It's not his fault he smells like the forest! Emmett continue to chuckle at David's pout as he carried him to the bathroom.

When they entered the bathroom he put David down and got the tub ready. Emmett made sure the water was nice and warm for David.

"Alright arms up." Emmett told David. Though David could undress himself and bath himself he decided to let the nice people who took him to their home and fed him do what they want without a fuss. He lifted his arms up and Emmett took off his torn up shirt. The then pulled down David's torn shorts and lifted him to the tub.

The moment David touched the water he immediately relaxed. The water was so warm that he could melt into it. David didn't even bother to notice that Emmett was cleaning him. Though this is the first time Emmett was washing a kid he made sure to be gentle and by the content look on David it seems like he's doing a good job.

After cleaning his body Emmett went to his hair, which luckily was short. Once David was fully clean Emmett took the boy out and dried him off in a big fluffy towel and then wrapped it around him. He picked David up and headed back downstairs where the rest of the family was still there except for the girls. Guess they're still looking at cloths for the tyke.

Emmett sat down on the couch with David on his lap. Looking at the little one looking around in curiosity with his big green eyes it's no wonder why Rose was already smitten.

"How did it go?" Emmett looked up to face Emse who decided to sit down next to him.

"Not bad, the kid didn't put up a fuss." He replied casually ruffling David's hair again. Esme smiled as David try to bat Emmett's hand away which only cause him to laugh. It was like looking at an older brother messing with his younger brother or a father and son.

"That's great that he's so relaxed around you." She said back. David looked over to Esme who smelled like peppermint.

"Hello honey, I'm Esme. I'm very happy to meet you. Did you enjoy your bath?" She greeted warmly. David tilted his head for a second. These people have weird names.

"Yes." David replied softly nodding his head. In that moment the girls finally came back with loads of bags in their hands.

"Well damn, did y'all buy the whole store?" Emmett comment cheekily.

"Blame Alice." Rosalie grunted.

"There was just soo many cute outfits I couldn't choose so I got them all!" David looked at the exchange and saw that they got cloths, he figured it was a girl thing. But the moment he saw Rosalie he perked up.

"Rose." He said happily. Rosalie turned to David and smiled.

"Hello sweetheart." She greeted warmly then notice his lack of cloths. "Why is he only wearing a towel?" Emmett laughed when she stared him down asking that.

"Well I couldn't put him back in those rags he had on. Besides it's not like he can get sick being out here anyways." David had to agree, ever since he became a forest fairy he hasn't ever gotten sick. Not even when he would run around the forest naked all day. It must be a fairy thing.

"Well now that we're back put some cloths on him." Rose said.

"Oooh! I know the perfect one!" Alice spoke up as she dug through her bag and took out a pair of short jean overalls and a dinosaur shirt and underwear. Though to David it looked a bit babyish, but he loves dinosaurs! And since they have gotten out of their way to get him cloths at all, he shouldn't complain. At this point anything would be better than his torn up shirt and shorts he's been wearing.

"Really Alice?" Emmett chuckled. "He's not a toddler."

"I know, but I couldn't resist!" Alice replied back.

"It's ok." David said gaining everyone's attention. He slowly slid off Emmett's lap and took off his towel standing naked in front of everyone.

"Well at least the lilt tyke ain't modest." Emmett joked as Rosalie glared at him before taking the cloths from Alice and helped David into them.

"Awwwww!" Alice said. "Look at him, he's completely adorable!" Rosalie had to admit that David did look unbelievably cute with that on and he actually looked like a little toddler too. For David this was the first time he had proper covering for a long time.

With all that happened today David was starting to feel tired. He yawned which sent everyone in a shock. The boy was just full of surprises. First he doesn't drink blood, but actually eat and now he can actually be tired. Is he really a vampire?

"Are you alright sweetheart?" Rosalie asked him. David nodded his head while rubbing his eyes with the balls of his fist. Motherly instincts that Rosalie thought would never have come came in floods as she picked David up and held him in her arms.

She began slowly rocking him while smoothly rubbing circles on his back and softly patting his butt. David could feel himself drifting to sleep. He clutched Rosalie's shirt with his small hands and laid his head on her shoulder and ever so slowly closes his eyes into slumber.

"He can sleep." Charlisle whispered in awe. This was something that he never thought would be possible.

"Yeah," Emmett commented as he watched Rosalie being in total peace for the first time. "little guy is full of surprises."
