Chapter 4 Please Join Our Band!
Airi's POV

After practice with Shiho, I was now walking through the halls of Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy.

"I wonder if Ena will be interested in playing in a band with me", I asked myself. "But even if she is, just a bassist and a drummer doesn't really make up a whole band, does it? I'm gonna need to find other members too. But…where will I find them?"

With my mind now deep in thought, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. And this eventually resulted in me…walking right into someone else!

The impact knocked me to the floor, and my bass case flew out of my hands!

"I am so sorry", I apologised before opening my eyes. "Are you…"

"Momoi-Senpai", the person I had bumped into said in shock when she saw me.

"I know you", I said when I recognised her. "You're the person I bumped into last time."

"Yep", the girl replied, her cheeks now turning pink with embarrassment.

She then stood up before offering her hand to me. I took it, and she pulled me onto my feet.

"Since we've literally bumped into each other twice now", I started. "Why don't you tell me your name?"

"Of course", the girl replied with excitement.

Then, she composed herself before bowing respectfully.

"My name is Tenma Saki", she revealed. "It is an honour to make your acquaintance, Momoi-Senpai."

"And it's very nice to meet you, Tenma-San", I replied as I also bowed.

Then, my smile suddenly left my face when I remembered something.

"Crap", I said suddenly. "My bass case!"

With this, I began frantically searching the floor for my bass case.

Once I found it, I picked it up, opened it, and sighed in relief.

"Thank goodness", I said in relief. "It didn't get damaged."

"Is that a bass guitar", Saki asked. "I didn't know that you played the bass, Momoi-Senpai."

"I only started playing it a little while ago", I revealed.

"Wait a minute", Saki said, seeming suddenly worried. "You're not giving up on being an idol, are you, Momoi-Senpai?!"

"Of course not", I replied. "But…I had to find another way to spread hope."

"Spread hope", Saki asked.

"That's my one goal as an idol", I revealed. "But, non of the agencies I went to saw me as a true idol. They just wanted to stick me onto variety shows! So, I had to find another to spread hope."

"But, playing the bass is very different from being an idol", Saki pointed out. "How did land on that?"

"The sister of a friend of mine plays the bass", I revealed. "One day, we went to go watch her perform with a band. After her performance was done, she told me that it was her goal to play music that could reach people's hearts. When I heard that, I realised that could use that as another way to spread hope. I've been playing the bass ever since."

"I see", Saki said. "So, how has learning to play the bass been, Momoi-Senpai?"

"It hasn't been easy", I replied. "Especially since my teacher is so strict. But, all that hard work has been paying off. Even though I haven't been playing for that long, my teacher thinks I'm ready to play in an amateur band."

"Play in an amateur band", Saki repeated.

Then…her eyes lit up as she seemed to get an idea.

"Momoi-Senpai, will you please join my band!"

"Huh", I said in shock. "You're in a band."

"I am", Saki replied. "I play the keyboard, and my friend Ichi-Chan plays the guitar and sings! We're not that skilled, so you should be able to play along with us no problem!"

After saying this, Saki suddenly took my hands in her own.

"Getting to play with you and help you with your goal would be amazing", she exclaimed. "So, I'm begging you, Momoi-Senpai! Please join our band!"
