Chapter 6
That night after they left the Morrigan's office, Kenzi tried calling Lauren again when Bo was asleep, she knew it was disconnected or maybe blocked when she can't get through. She surmised Lauren must have blocked their numbers the moment she left, this hurt Kenzi but then she can understand too since she's connected to Bo. If Bo overheard them talking, Bo will yank the phone from her hand and start yelling at Lauren for leaving with no word.
Since then, Kenzi has been trying to find a way to contact Hotpants for weeks now, since she and Bo have been busy with their P.I. job she finally has the time to research, and is able to figure out how. Kenzi is able to work on contacting Lauren while sitting on the couch with her laptop tapping away having a break from Bo, she's with Dyson at the moment.
She hates to say it or admit, Bo deserves the silent treatment.
She figured how to unblock Lauren's phone and finally called, hearing it ring then got a groggy Dr. Hotpants.
"Hello."
"Lauren, I mean Hotpants. It's Kenzi." Not giving Lauren a chance to talk she might hang up on her, and at the same time felt relieve on her hearing her voice again.
"Kenzi is everything ok? Bo is not hurt, is she?" In her end, Kenzi heard some covers rustling.
"No, Lauren. Bo is ok." Silently to herself. Thank you, Lauren, for thinking of me. "Look, she's hurting when you left without saying goodbye."
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you Kenz", Lauren apologizing, not caring about Bo at that moment. Now what had happened to HotPants she knew. She sounded depressed somehow.
"Kenzi, can we talk at a reasonable hour. It's late here." Sounding tired. "You got the cashed?" Lauren asked.
She forgot there's a time difference, "Sure Hotpants. And Thanks for the cashed." She can feel the smile at the other end.
"You're welcome Kenzi. Hope you're doing okay?" Sounding even more tired. "Can we skype?"
Kenzi silently move her head in agreement. "Sure, what time?" There was silence as Kenzi waited for Lauren to let her know the time.
"How about Seven hours from now. Do you have an account? It needs to be secured, send me the details." Lauren said all at once, "Kenzi, did you hear me?" Faintly she heard, "I'll call you."
"Yes, Doc. I heard ya." Screaming inside, Bo is going to be fucking A happy. Getting ready to close the communication between them.
"Ok Kenzi, talk to you soon." The silence after Lauren hung up.
After she had spoken to Lauren, Kenzi had secured an encryption, sent the information via text to Lauren. They will be ready in seven hours and telling Bo the great news when she gets home.
Getting up from the sofa, Kenzi did the most fantastic dance chanting Bo going to be happy. "I'm gonna celebrate." Skipping to their kitchen finding a quarter bottle of vodka. That would do for now she told herself.
Bo saunter in the crack shack after she had fed; when she saw Kenzi doing some kind of a dance had her smiling for a few moments.
"Kenzi, why are you dancing?" Taking her coat off dropping it on the sofa and putting away one of swords on the side corner.
Kenzi ran to her, hug her hard and swing her around laughing.
"I give you great news Bo-Bo!" twirling them both around until Bo made her stop.
"What's the great news?" Plopping herself down on the couch, Kenzi standing in front of her. Her hands on her hips leaning close to her face. Reaching out one of her hands, tweaking Bo's nose. Bo trying to slap her hand away.
"I've talked to Hotpants," Bo's eyes turn to blue to brown in an instant.
"Keennnzzz," she said her name, "Don't kid with me?"
Kenzi took the laptop and open it. "I was able to unblock the block number Lauren had on us." Showing her phone. "I called her."
Bo took out her phone to call her when Kenzi stop her by taking it away. "Hey!" her blue eyes surface. "Yours is blocked, not mine. You'll only get the voicemail."
"Let me finish explaining Succubus." Being serious to her. Bo deflated her blue eyes turning to brown.
"The good news Bo-Bo, we get to talk to her in seven hours. Well, yeah seven. I had to send her a secured skype." Bo suddenly jumps up and hug her bestie. "I did that ….oop!"
"Bo, let's go out and hit the Dal. In seven hours, we'll be talking to Lauren."
"I can't Kenzi…Seven hours will be here soon." Sitting back down looking at her phone, scrolling until she found Lauren's number.
Kenzi join her on the couch, putting her arm over her shoulder letting out a big sigh. Seven hours is a long way, she got up and went to the kitchen looking for takeout menus since she and Bo need nourishment beside alcohol.
Bo just looks at her, quietly not saying a thing about Lauren. She had come to terms with herself that she loves Lauren so much and her succubus has this feeling that Lauren might find someone better than them. What the succubus wanted to do with Bo at that instant is to kick Bo in the ass.
The succubus is being impatient, she's afraid of losing Lauren. She has been patient with Bo who can't leave Dyson.
Not knowing Bo is having a heavy conversation with her Succubus asking her exactly why the urgency on reconnecting with Lauren. Her Succubus is being mysterious, but she's angry at Bo for her actions.
Kenzi thought maybe she should treat Bo. She brought out the take-out menus from the kitchen, walking over to Bo and sat next to her going through the menus which take-out they'll have that night.
Ever since Lauren had given her some money, she has been diligently tracking her expenses. Pizza? Yeah, why not…She has the phone on her hand ready to call the nearest pizza guy but thought better to try something different Lauren had her tried. Thai food! After she made the order, Kenzi got up and went upstairs.
Bo watched Kenzi going upstairs to the bathroom. Being Bo, as impatient as she is. She grabbed Kenzi's phone on the coffee table, she stared at the phone on her hand, scrolling until she found Lauren's number. Her fingers ready to dial Lauren and debating really hard if she should call her now or just wait.
Bo is very quiet; she doesn't know what to do. She kept eyeing the clock above the television. Lauren, I'll be talking to you soon. Still holding Kenzi's phone.
Kenzi came back down seeing as Bo staring down at her phone, she didn't want to startle her she want her to respect Lauren's wishes. She waited for Bo to figure that out for herself.
Sensing her. "Kenzi, why didn't you want me to call Lauren immediately? If you had unblocked the number, I can just talk to her instead of waiting in seven hours."
"Bo," letting some seconds tick between them, "Its 8 hours and 30 mins ahead of us. I accidentally woke her up and she said seven hours. She sounded tired. If you call her. It's my number she'll answer, and finds out its you? What makes you think she will answer me again? She'll let it to go to voicemail and she'll have this number block again."
Oh, she didn't think of that. Better talk to her in seven hours so that would be around maybe midnight or 1 their time.
Now she knows why Evony has been staying at her office late at night.

That's what Lauren did the moment she woke up and made sure it is an air tight block.
Evony stayed again at night hoping Lauren would call again. She looks forward to when Lauren gets to call her. Why Evony has been working late at night to make sure the time difference works well with Lauren when she ever calls.
Her computer beeps! Signaling someone is calling her, she's getting a bit excited. She wants to know that woman Lauren have been spending time with. She couldn't help smiling when she answered her skype.
"Well, well Major Lewis." Smiling at Lauren.
"Evony." Lauren couldn't keep the smile from her face. She still has the gauze wrap around her head. The headache is coming on again. It's just a graze maybe she had hit her head on his shoulder when Marcus grabbed her from behind.
"What happen to you Lauren?" Her voice took in alarm. She knew going back to Afghan something would happen like this. This happening too close for Lauren. Plus, the bombing in the previous months.
"I was helping someone and I got a graze at the side." Explain Lauren with less information of what happen. "Evony, can you please have my phone block again except for Kenzi. Just tighten the security on it."
"Why? What happen?" Evony became curious at this news.
"Kenzi called me early this morning. I don't mind her calling me, just not…" Not saying anymore.
"Okay, I'll have my people secure your number tightly." Making a note on the nearest pad, just not Kenzi's number.
"Alright, Lauren spill on the woman you're dating? Are you?" Eyeing her closely through the monitor.
"She's about a tad taller, red hair. Bluest eyes you have ever seen." Staring at her intently, "Human."
She said that last one out, Lauren doesn't want any more to do with fae people in her relationship. She wants to grow old with the woman who loves her. A human…
"Is she treating you right? Not too demanding? When did this happen? Where did you go to your first date? I know it's the desert. And what did you guys do? The most important question did you or did you not?" Evony kept firing all the question without having Lauren a breath in between to answer. It's not like Evony to do this.
Over the course of the months, she had gotten to know more of Lauren. She can see at times how lonely she is. She can still see even if Lauren doesn't know she is still pining over Bo. Lauren doesn't have to say anything, the way she would look away for a second, Evony could guarantee she's always thinking about Bo. But this new woman in her life, is now taking most of her thoughts. She can now tell she's not thinking about Bo as much or…maybe.
Finally, Evony says it, "Just as long as you're happy Lauren. That all that matters."
"I know Evony." Her eyes say it all, Amber is making her happy. "She does." At the thought of Amber at that moment her face light up. She'll see her after her phone call with Bo and Kenzi. Taking a deep sigh, her stress level is going up a bit thinking of the call after she speaks with Evony.
"How is everything over there?" Hoping to hear what Bo has been doing. "Have you been to the Dal?" trying to be non chalant about it. Face it Lauren? You can't help wondering what's happening over there, especially Bo. This being back in the Army gave Lauren a reality check too. There's a world out there not just the city of Toronto. She'll never escape Bo when she is talking to Evony. It will always be a reminder she can't escape their world. So, suck it up and let her go. Internally taking a deep breath.
Evony knows Lauren doesn't do subtle well when it comes to Bo. Her eyes don't sparkle when she asks what's happening in Toronto. Only a curiosity now.
Scrutinizing her again, there's that light keeps creeping up. A little sparkle just wanting to shine out in her eyes. This new woman in her life must be giving her some kind of attention. I'm going to do some digging on that woman that caught her eye.
"Evony, I'll talk to you soon. Get some sleep." Lauren smile at her, knowing Evony is up to something when her eyes sparkling a bit of mischief.
"What you're doing now Lauren?" Wanting to know her schedule for the day.
"Getting some breakfast Evony. Then speak to Kenzi and Bo in about 45 minutes." A matter of fact while looking at her watch. "See you Evony." Smiling her eyes twinkling.
Evony turn off her computer, smiling too. First thing in the morning she'll have one of her assistants block Lauren's phone again, making sure Bo doesn't call her. But what if she called Lauren from Kenzi's phone. Hmmm, we'll see.
