Chapter Two: To 2014
Goku and the others watched as Broly's team's time machine vanished into thin air. He, Chi-Chi and Gohan looked over to Bulma and Rick's station as the latter then said, "Possible anomalies to throw off trajectories of both time machines are dramatically decreasing."
"Which means in about two minutes, you guys will be good to go!" Bulma said with a thumbs up. Chi-Chi looked to her husband and then said, "Which means, we have something to take care of."
(Cue Bulma's Wish: Another Five Years track from DBS: Broly)
"We do?" Goku asked as he tried to think of what hasn't been done. Chi-Chi gave a groan before gesturing to their youngest son standing next to his friends. Goku's eyes went wide and then remembered, "Oh, yeah! Right."
The three walked over to their fourth family member and Goten turned to look at his father. Goku kneeled down and said, "Goten, I know I've already asked you to stay behind and help look after things here while we're gone, but I just wanted to let you know that this Earth is in good hands."
"You really think so?" Goten asked with an awed face. Goku's smile didn't falter as he said, "I know so."
Goten smiled really big as he hugged Goku and said, "I won't let you down, Dad."
"I know you'll do great, Son." Goku said as he patted his youngest's back. When they released, Chi-Chi walked up to him and said, "Goten. Be good until we get back, okay?"
"I'll try, Mom." Goten promised with a nod. Chi-Chi smiled and rubbed her son's hair. When she backed up, Gohan was the last to walk up and held out a fist to his little brother. With a smile he said, "Take care of yourself, little brother."
"You, too, Gohan." Goten said before bumping his fist against Gohan's. The three backed up and looked to their friends. Rick then said, "Like with Broly's team, we're sending you back a bit before the San Francisco Incident."
"Right." Goku nodded. Rick then said, "Also a quick piece of advice, you won't find Serizawa in the States during the incident."
"Where will he be?" Chi-Chi asked as she held her pack. Chen then said, "Serizawa and Vivienne are most likely to be in Janjira at the time when the male M.U.T.O. escapes."
"You're best bet is to find Lieutenant Brody." Sam said. Goku quirked a brow and asked, "Ford? Where would he be during this time?"
"He lives in San Francisco. You'll need to convince him to let you go with him." Chen said while crossing her arms.
"Then that's where we'll go to meet him before getting to Serizawa. And then we'll follow history accordingly." Gohan deduced. Everyone nodded to confirm it. Then Goku said, "And we'll meet up in Seattle when we get finished."
"That's the plan." Bulma said with a grin. Vegeta then said, "Best of luck to you, Kakarot."
"Same to you guys." Goku said with a thumbs up as he and his family started to get into the time machine.

"You got the journal?" Gohan asked his father while looking down from the cockpit. Goku reached into his overshirt and pulled it out, "Still got it."
He then put it back into his overshirt while Chi-Chi climbed in after Gohan. When Goku was the last to get in, Whis and Beerus walked up to the Saiyan and the former said, "Remember not to change the timeline too much, even though some events might be different. You mostly need to make sure that the warhead makes it out of the city, Godzilla will more than likely deal with the two M.U.T.O.s himself."
"Right." Goku nodded. Beerus then said, "Whis and I will have to depart soon, to inform the Omni-Kings of this little endeavor. But we should be back in time for your return."
(Cue Cha-La Head Cha-La track from DBS Broly)
Goku just gave a thumbs up this time before turning to climb into the time machine. When he climbed into the cockpit, he sat next to Chi-Chi as Gohan took the controls. The eldest son of Goku pressed a button and the hatch started to close. Gohan pressed a series of buttons to get the time machine going. The engines started to power up and the turbines started to spin. But as they were about to get underway, Goku noticed Whis, Beerus, Vegeta and Bulma all looking into the angel's staff. The four started to quickly move out of the hangar just as the time machine started to disappear. And then in a moment, they were whisked away through time.

The time machine flew through the tunnel that went through the space-time continuum. It seemed to speed up as they went along. When Goku looked out the dome, he started to feel queasy, which his wife and eldest child took notice of. Gohan looked to his father and asked, "You okay, Dad?"
"No, not really." Goku said as he clutched his stomach again. Then he said, "Every time I look out into a tunnel of time or space I start to feel sick."
His cheeks slightly puffed out as he thought he was going to hurl. Chi-Chi then warned, "You better not throw up in here, Goku!"
Cha-La Head Cha-La
"Don't worry, Dad! It's almost over." Gohan promised as the machine indicated that they were nearing the right time period via flashing light. Just before they exited the tunnel, Gohan pressed the buttons that Sam had instructed him to. The time machine glowed blue for a minute before the outline faded. With a smile he said, "There. Now we'll come out undetected."
"I still don't really get why the time machine needed to have a cloaking field." Chi-Chi said as they neared the end of the tunnel. Gohan then said, "Well, Sam told me that the year of 2014 is when they're still pretty advanced in technology, and he thought that when the time machine appeared out of nowhere-"
"That the people of Thirteen's Earth during this year would think it was some kind of immediate threat." Goku groaned as he clutched his stomach. This surprised the other two and Gohan asked, "How did you know that, Dad?"
"Kind of overheard you and Sam talking." Goku said as he placed a hand over his mouth, still trying not to get sick in the time machine.
Cha-La Head Cha-La
The time machine then burst from the tunnel and floated over the five years younger Earth. Goku took a moment to take in a deep breath to calm himself while Chi-Chi placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. They then looked around to see that everything was indeed different from the Washington they somewhat knew. They even felt the dormant energies of most of the Titans. Gohan started to set the time machine down somewhere they wouldn't be spotted.
Cha-La Head Cha-La
The time machine set down in a field of grass a few miles out from the city and Gohan looked around. Glancing back he smiled as he said, "All right, let's disembark."
He pressed a button that opened the hatch and the three started to get out. Goku took Chi-Chi in his arms and started to levitate out of the time machine. Chi-Chi wrapped her arms around him and said, "Oh, Goku. How romantic of you."
"Well, we are sort of pressed for time, Chi-Chi." Goku reminded. Knowing that romance was the farthest thing on his mind, Chi-Chi huffed and stepped away from the time machine.
Cha-La
(End of track)
Gohan touched down next to his parents and then turned to the time machine. Pressing the button Bulma showed him, the half-Saiyan stepped back and the time machine turned into a capsule with a loud poof! The capsule bounced on the ground before Gohan reached down and picked it up. Taking out a capsule holder, Gohan placed the time machine in it before placing the holder into his over shirt. Gohan then turned to his parents and then asked, "So, now that we're here… How are we supposed to get across the country before Ford leaves for Japan?"
"I would use Instant Transmission…" Goku said with a shrug. But then he admitted, "But I don't think Ford's home quite yet."
"Wow." Gohan said as he and his mom were surprised. Then he said to Chi-Chi, "That's two for two for him on this trip."
"Yeah, I'll say." She admitted. Then she asked, "So how are going to get across the country."
"Luckily, Rick helped us to prepare for this." Gohan said as he dug into his bag. He pulled out three cards and a wad of cash before he said, "We take a plane. And we can use these to do it."
He handed Goku and Chi-Chi one of the cards and they looked down at them. Goku then asked, "What exactly are these?"
"They're identification cards, Dad." Gohan explained. Then he said, "With these and the passports some of the guys at Monarch made for us, we'll be able to into places."
"Even in 2014?" Chi-Chi asked, not feeling too sure about this. Gohan nodded and said, "Hopefully, we just have to show the guys at the airport and we'll be good to go."
"And we have a backup plan, right?" Goku asked just in case. Gohan then said, "If these don't work, then we'll probably have to fly."
"That could work." Goku shrugged. With nothing else to say, the three started to head into the city to find an airport.

Elsewhere, the cargo hold of a military plane started to open up. A younger/older Ford took a moment to adjust to the thought of being home after being gone for so long. He was so mesmerized by the sight of the town that he barely heard his commander say, "On, your feet, men!"
His unit rose together and stood at attention. Ford was quick to join them and stood at attention as well. Before the troops got off the plane, their commander then said, "Now, I know that many of you were disappointed that we landed at the base in Oregon instead of California, but this was the closest refueling station. So grab your gear and we'll head to the base to get you all processed."
He then reassured them, "There is an airport that will be able to get you home." Then with a nod he said, "Best of luck, soldiers."
Ford and his unit gave their commander one final salute before turning to gather their things. Some of the other soldiers started to talk amongst themselves. One soldier looked to Ford and asked, "You got family waiting for you?"
"I hope so." Ford joked with a nod. The soldier then asked, "How long have you been away?"
"Fourteen months." Ford said while slinging the bag over his shoulders. The soldier smirked as he advised, "My advice, take it slow. It's the one thing that they don't train you for."
"Thanks." Ford nodded as they all moved to the back of the plane. Their commander then shouted, "All right, let's go!"
All the soldiers moved out to get back to their lives. As they walked to the base, they were unaware that they were being watched from the roof of a nearby building.

The three had finally made it to an airport and were standing in the ticket line. They were behind a few other people and were about to take a step forward when a loud sound echoed throughout the room. Everyone looked for the source when Chi-Chi looked to her husband and immediately could tell that it was his stomach. Looking to the people she said, "It's okay, everyone. It's just my husband's stomach."
The crowd settled down and continued about their airfare business. Chi-Chi then looked to her husband and asked, "Can't you control yourself?"
"Sorry, Chi-Chi." Goku said as he clutched his stomach. He sheepishly grinned and he said, "I haven't had anything to eat since before we left."
"Ergh!" Chi-Chi groaned as they knew that it would be a long trip.

(Cue One Week from Barenaked Ladies)
After getting processed and soon to the airport, Ford got himself a ticket and had to wait a while before getting on board.
Barenaked Ladies: It's been one week since you looked at me
Cocked your head to the side and said, "I'm angry"
Five days since you laughed at me
Saying, "Get that together, come back and see me
When it was time to get on the plane, Ford rose from his seat and started to follow the others who were boarding the same plane. From their own airport, Goku, Chi-Chi and Gohan boarded their own airplane.
Barenaked Ladies: Three days since the living room
I realized it's all my fault, but I couldn't tell you
Yesterday, you'd forgiven me
But it'll still be two days 'til I say I'm sorry
Goku, Chi-Chi and Gohan all sat on the same row on the plane and a stewardess came walking over. She handed the three a bag of peanuts. They opened it and started eating. Well, Chi-Chi and Gohan ate their peanuts while Goku scarfed his down. The other passengers looked to him with wide eyes while his family started to look somewhat embarrassed.
Barenaked Ladies: Hold it now and watch the hoodwink
As I make you stop, think
You'll think you're looking at Aquaman
I summon the fish to the dish, although
On his plane, Ford sat by the window and stared out of it. He could see the world down below and couldn't wait to get back home.
Barenaked Ladies: I like the Chalet Swiss
I like the sushi 'cause it's never touched a frying pan
Hot like wasabi when I bust rhymes
Big like LeAnn Rimes, because I'm all about value
Ford's plane didn't have to take long to reach the San Francisco airport. But he still had to wait before getting off. When he was able get off, Ford followed the crowd.
Barenaked Ladies: Bert Kaempfert's got the mad hits
You try to match wits, you try to hold me but I bust through
Gonna make a break and take a fake
I'd like a stinking aching shake
It took a while for their plane, but Goku, Chi-Chi and Gohan finally reached the state of California. They too had too for a few minutes before disembarking the plane.
Barenaked Ladies: I like vanilla, it's the finest of the flavors
Gotta she the show, 'cause then you know
The vertigo is gonna grow
'Cause it's so dangerous, you'll have to sign a waver
The three family members crossed through the airport without any trouble and saw a bus station. Thinking that it might be best to take it they walked towards it.
Barenaked Ladies: How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad?
Trying hard not to smile, though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Can't understand what I mean?
The bus ride through the state was uneventful, but had its annoyances. Chi-Chi was sitting by an elderly man who was asleep. The man's head feel onto her shoulder and she cringed when she saw drool leaking out of his mouth.
Barenaked Ladies: Well, you will soon
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of taking off my shirt
Ford was sitting on his own bus that was making its way to his home. He took out his cell phone and saw a picture of his family and knew that they were waiting for him.
Barenaked Ladies: It's been one week since you looked at me
Threw your arms in the air and said, "You're crazy"
Five days since you tackled me
I've still got the rug burns on both my knees
He put it away when he could see the Golden Gate bridge coming up and knew that he was almost home. Ford halfway smiled when he thought about his entire family, including his father. But if fell when he thought of how distant the man had become.
Barenaked Ladies: It's been three days since the afternoon
You realized it's not my fault not a moment too soon
You realized it's not my fault not a moment too soon
Yesterday, you'd forgiven me
And now I sit back and wait 'til you say you're sorry
Goku's bus wasn't too far behind anymore when they could see the upcoming city as well. The three were amazed by the sight of it.
Barenaked Ladies: Chickity China, the Chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watching X-Files with no lights on
We're dans la masion
They had to wait for the bus to pull into the station before getting off. As they walked through the crowds, none of the three saw Ford as they passed right by him.
Barenaked Ladies: I hope the Smoking Man's in this one
Like Harrison Ford, I'm getting frantic
Like Sting, I'm tantric
Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy
Ford soon climbed into a taxi cab and started to make his way to his home. Meanwhile, Goku, Chi-Chi and Gohan soon became lost when they tried to navigate the streets. Chi-Chi became frustrated and placed a hand to her forehead when neither of the boys asked for directions.
Barenaked Ladies: Like Kurosawa, I make mad films,
'kay, I don't make films
But if I did they'd have a Samurai
Gonna get a set of better clubs
Chi-Chi then went over to ask some people, and while she was doing that, Goku suddenly smelled something good. Gohan gasped when he saw his dad walking off and tried to get Chi-Chi's attention. She only looked back when he shouted to her while wildly flailing his arms up and down. She too gasped when she saw her husband walking off.
Barenaked Ladies: Gonna find the kind with tiny nubs
Just so my irons aren't always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon
'Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That makes me think the wrong thing
Gohan and Chi-Chi chased after Goku who had stopped in front of a Chinatown restaurant. But before he could go in, Chi-Chi grabbed him by the earlobe and dragged him away. Goku had a pained look as he walked with Chi-Chi and were quickly joined by Gohan.
Barenaked Ladies: How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad?
Trying hard not to smile, though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral

After a few minutes of yelling from Chi-Chi and a few odd stares from some people they got back to their mission. Soon they got directions to Ford's street and started to head there.
Barenaked Ladies: It's been one week since you looked at me
Dropped your arms to the sides and said, "I'm sorry"
Five days since I laughed at you and said
"You just did what I thought you were gonna do"
Ford's cab pulled down the street before stopping at his house. Stepping out of the cab after paying the man, Ford looked up to see if they were waiting for him. He could see a little movement and then walked up to the front door.
Barenaked Ladies: Three days since the living room
We realized we're both to blame but what could we do?
Yesterday, you just smiled at me
'Cause it'll still be two days 'til we say we're sorry
The door opened and both his wife and soon stepped out to greet him. Ford kneeled down and opened his arms wide for his son. Sam ran into his father's arms and Ford picked him up before turning to his wife, Elle. Elle came up to him and embraced both her son and husband. The husband and wife shared a quick kiss before heading inside.
Barenaked Ladies: It's still two be days 'til we say we're sorry
It'll still be two days 'til we say, "Wasabi"

Goku, Chi-Chi and Gohan finally found the street they were looking for and started to look for the house. They came upon the row of houses and saw Ford's sitting in the middle. The three started to walk towards the house.

Plus, I'm gonna need to think of how to make Goku's team interact with the younger Ford before heading to Japan to meet up with Ford's father. I look forward to reading your reviews.
