Chapter Two: Trouble in Paradise

Part One: New Arrivals

As the Grandpa Longneck and the kids passed by some bushes, tall grass and tall trees, Clark suddenly started to slow down. The Kryptonian felt a little faint at the moment. He looked around for the source, but didn't see anything as a little sweat appeared on his brow. Their friend stopping didn't go unnoticed by the group as Littlefoot looked back and asked, "Is everything okay, Clark?"

"Yeah, you don't look so good." John spoke up, noticing the look on his friend's face. Bruce narrowed his eyes as he tried to think about what was going on. Clark wiped the sweat his brow as he shook his head, "Maybe I'm just weak from hunger or something."

"Well, fret not, young one." Grandpa Longneck told him as he moved his head over to Clark. Then moving his head back he gestured to up ahead with his head he promised, "Where we're going isn't too much farther."

"Come on, Clark." Diana said as she and Bruce placed a hand on the Kryptonian's shoulders. They walked with him after John, Littlefoot and Grandpa Longneck. But as they started to leave the spot, Bruce glanced back for any signs of what could have caused Clark to feel this way. He narrowed his eyes when the foliage rustled a little, but nothing else happened after it stopped. But he didn't see anything and turned his attention back to his friends. The group of six soon disappeared down the path.

Back at the tall grass, they started rustling a lot more and a couple of clawed hands parted the blades and a white beak poked out. A brown and white dinosaur, or a Troodon, looked about the area and nodded in content at what his orange eyes were seeing. Moving his head a little further into the light, an orange stone was tied by a vine around his neck. With a final nod he said, "I think I really like this place. I really do like this place a lot!

"Don't you, Strut?" He asked when he looked back. When he didn't see his companion he looked about for them and herd the sound of loud chewing. Becoming annoyed, the first commanded, "Strut! Strut, get up here now!"

"What?" A second brown and white Troodon asked as he lifted his head up from the foliage. And like his brother, he too was wearing a bright stone around his neck. Only this one's color was a sickly green. In his beak was a few blades of grass. He swallowed some of it before saying, "I'm eating here."

The sight of his younger brother eating green food shocked the older Egg-Stealer. His orange eyes narrowed and he knew he needed to put a stop to it. Quickly grabbing his brother by the neck he commanded, "Spit that stuff out!

"Go on! Spit it out now!" He shouted while trying to reach for the green food. But Strut leaned his head back as he complained with his mouth still a little full, "But, Ozzy, I'm hungry!"

"Spit it out, you grass-guzzler!" Ozzy commanded as he started slapping the side of his brother's face. The harsh whacks caused Strut to cough up the bits of green food in his mouth. With a high and mighty attitude Ozzy said while continuing to slap Strut, "No brother of mine is going to eat any kind of vegetation under my watch.

"Not while I'm around." He shook his head when he stopped the slapping and released his grip on his brother's neck. Taking in a few deep breaths from that ordeal, Strut asked his brother, "Then what are we going to eat, Ozzy?"

"Well, while my new stone has given me great strength and we could gain any kind of meal we could possibly want…" Ozzy said as he held the orange stone with both clawed hands. He turned his attention back out to the valley when he preferred, "But I think we'd prefer to stick to the basics of what we were raised on."

"And that would be?" Strut asked with a bored look, even though he felt he already knew the answer. Ozzy had a knowing look in his eye as he licked the sides of his beak and said, "Eggs, my dear brother…

"Eggs!" He happily said while wrapping an arm around his sibling and they gazed out to their surroundings. Then gesturing out to the valley he said, "The Valley that we're in is full of them."

They both could see multiple dinosaur herds roaming about the Great Valley, and Ozzy knew that there would be different kinds of eggs to be found. The idea of so many delectable choices made his mouth water. The thing he craved was all he could think about as he said, "Nice, plump, juicy eggs."

After a good bit of time walking through the valley, Clark seemed to feel a lot better. They soon found the spot where they could have their breakfast. The tree stars above were dripping from the morning dew and there were a few ripe berry bushes not too far. While the heroes turned children were picking the berries, Grandpa Longneck was helping Littlefoot with his own breakfast. The older Longneck used his foot to carefully push the tree forward, "Here you are, Littlefoot.

"The last tree star of this tree is for you." He said as Littlefoot licked his lips as the tree star was coming within reach. When it was close enough, the young dinosaur carefully stood up on his back legs to pluck off the tree star off the limb. Quickly eating it, Littlefoot was grateful when he said, "Thank you.

"And great trick, Grandpa." He said with a gesture to the tree while Grandpa removed his foot and the tree stood tall again. But Grandpa Longneck shook his head, "It's not a trick, Littlefoot.

"All Longnecks can do it." He grinned and lowered his head close to his grandson. Then gesturing to the four he said, "And I'm sure that your friends would be able to do it too."

"Some would have to get more creative than most." Bruce said as the four walked back over to the two Longnecks. Littlefoot became excited and started to look around, "Let me give it a try."

He spotted a tree that didn't look too big for him. The young Longneck rushed over to try to repeat what his grandfather just did. John looked to the other three heroes and Grandpa Longneck and asked, "You think he can do it?"

"Well, we can only wait and see." The older dinosaur said as they kept an eye on Littlefoot. The young Longneck stopped before the tree he thought would be perfect and seemed excited as he placed his foot against the trunk. But he started to push and it wasn't budging for him. He stood on his hindlegs to push on it with both fore feet and strained a little as he kept pushing against the tree. Clark told him, "I wouldn't overdo it if I were you, Littlefoot."

"Yeah, if it whack's you in the face…" John started to say. But Bruce was quick to shut him up with a jab within an elbow to his ribs. The Green Lantern yelped and rubbed his sore side. They grew a little worried as their friend seemed to be growing desperate. Littlefoot started shaking the tree and Grandpa Longneck could see that his grandson was starting to become frustrated. Lowering his head to the young one's level, Grandpa Longneck started to say, "Careful there, Littlefoot."

But the young dinosaur didn't seem to be hearing his grandparent's advice as the tree started to bend when he tried climbing on it. But the young Longneck was sent screaming and tumbling across the ground. Bruce and John moved in front of the rolling Longneck to try and stop him, but they ended up getting barreled into by their friend. The three soon came to a stop over some small geysers. As they started to sit up, Bruce looked to Littlefoot and John and questioned, "Why did we think that would work?"

The two shrugged but they all became worried when the ground underneath them started to shake. They looked around as the other geysers started going off. The steaming water erupted into the air for a moment before stopping. The three looked down to see that they were sitting on one and looked to each other as they said in unison, "Uh-oh!"

But just before the geyser under them went off, Clark, Diana and Grandpa Longneck were quick to come rescue them. Diana and Clark were able to whisk Bruce and John away while Grandpa Longneck grabbed Littlefoot by the tail. The moment they were all off, the geyser they were on went off. Littlefoot looked up to his grandfather and asked, "Guess I'm too little, huh, Grandpa?"

"You're still very young." Grandpa Longneck said when he put Littlefoot on the ground within the curl of his great tail. Clark and Diana placed their friends next to the young dinosaur and landed on the ground beside them. This made Littlefoot huff and lay down with an aggravated look. His grandfather tried to reassure him, "But you'll get the hang of it someday. I promise."

"There are some things that you can't rush." Diana told her friend. The young Apatosaur hit the ground as he grumbled, "Aw, I hate being little."

"Too be fair, you are bigger than a lot of other things." John said with a slight shrug. This didn't seem to make Littlefoot feel any different. With a small smile, Clark then kneeled down to him and placed a hand on his shoulder as he said, "It's okay, Littlefoot. Being a little kid isn't so bad."

"He's quite right." Grandpa Longneck chuckled in agreement. Then he told his grandson, "And don't worry. You'll be all grown up soon enough."

"Maybe we need to do something to take your mind off it." Bruce suggested as he turned his head to look around. Grandpa Longneck, Diana, John and Clark all nodded in agreement with this. It seemed to make Littlefoot lift his head from the ground. Their attention was stolen when a couple of familiar voices called to them, "Hey, you guys!"

They looked over to see Cera and Shayera standing a few yards away behind a big root. A smile came to all five faces. The Thanagarian waved to them while the Threehorn shouted, "Come on! We're getting together to go play with the others!"

The two then turned and ran off to rejoin the rest of their friends. Looking back to his grandfather Littlefoot asked, "Grandpa, can we go and play with our friends?"

"Go on and have fun!" Grandpa Longneck said and gestured for them to go on while lifting his tail. All five friends looked to the older Apatosaur and nodded as Littlefoot said, "Thanks, Grandpa!"

They all took off and jumped over the root. They found Shayera and Cera waiting for them on the other side. The Threehorn and Thanagarian started running with them as they ran over the hill. From where he was standing, Grandpa Longneck sighed and said, "The Great Valley is a truly wonderful place to grow up.

"For any creatures, no matter what they are." He smiled as he watched his grandson having fun with his friends, dinosaur or not. The seven soon joined up with the rest of their friends. They all moved closer together as Ducky happily cheered, "Let's play! Let's play!"

"But what kind of game are we thinking of?" Wally asked as he ran a small circle around the group with his super speed. Spike made a few grunting noises and Jonn interpreted for him, "I believe that Spike has suggested a game of tag, or chasing."

"Okay, but I'm not it." Littlefoot declared as he started running again. Wally picked up Ducky and they said in unison, "Not it!"

"Well, I'm not it!" Cera said as she ran off after the Apatosaur. Shayera was in agreement with her as she took to the air, "I know I'm not."

"Same!" Clark, Diana, Bruce, Jonn, John all said together. Petrie was the last to shout, "Me not it either!"

"Well, I guess that means only one thing!" Clark laughed as he flew through the air. The group of twelve ran off into the valley as all but one shouted, "Spike's it!"

The group all laughed as they kept running and having fun.

Author's Note: I do apologize for being away from this for a while, and I'll try to work on it some more. I know that only Littlefoot had some screen time after the reveal of the Egg Thieves, but I decided that it would be interesting if the others had some as well. I am so excited to get to the parts with Chomper. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
