Chapter Three: A Great Deal of Time
Far away on Shell's island, storm clouds were starting to gather over the area as the day was nearing its end. The Giant crab himself was currently busy putting a few finishing touches on a little project of his. He dipped a claw into some homemade paint made from fruit before applying it to a painting of what appeared to be a young Seawing. Shell chuckled as he looked over the painting. He added a few touches to it and said with happiness in his voice, "Tsunami."

One year later…
A young Tsunami was swimming about with her mother, her father and a few guards down to the Deep Palace to check on something. During the time since her hatching and presentation, Tsunami had been well cared for and educated by her parents. Though she didn't know many words in either speech or Aquatic, it didn't stop her from doing her best for her parents. They soon came upon the Royal Seawing Hatchery and Queen Coral said through Aquatic *Allow us through, please.*
*Of course, your Majesty.* One of the guards responded before they moved out of the way and opened the doors to the chamber. All three of the royal family swam into the room and Tsunami stopped to stare at something in the middle of the room. A large green statue of her eldest sister Orca sat in the middle of the royal hatchery. Though she never did get to meet Orca because of the war before she was born, Tsunami was mostly told only the best things about her sister. Tsunami turned and quickly swam past the statue of Orca to join up with her parents. Swimming up to where she could see, she saw a clutch of eggs that contained some more of her brothers and sisters. Tsunami knew that she had at least a few brothers from her own clutch, but she had been the only female dragonet. She was so excited to see her new siblings when the time came.
She looked up to her parents as they were talking amongst themselves in Aquatic. Though she couldn't understand what they were saying, they spoke amongst each other as Coral said, *It won't be much longer until this clutch hatches.*
*Too bad we can't have Shell inspect them at this time.* Gill said with a shrug. Coral gave her husband an understanding look and said in Aquatic, *He's going to be away for a bit, but said he would look at them when he returned.*
*Hopefully it won't be too much longer.* Gill said with a slight grin. They looked to little Tsunami before her mother gestured with her head for them to leave. Tsunami cast one last look at the clutch of eggs before following after her parents. They swam back out the doors of the royal hatchery before heading back up to the Summer Palace. Put as they left where the royal hatchery was, Tsunami happened to look to see a young male Seawing swimming by. The young Seawing looked to Tsunami and gave a small smile which she returned as she swam on.
Tsunami and her family reached the Summer Palace and their heads broke through the surface of the water. Gill looked to Coral and said, "Looks like everything is fine with our next clutch of eggs."
"Can you blame me for worrying?" Coral asked as they swam for the pavilion. She seemed upset when she added, "I just don't want anything happening to them." Glancing back to her daughter she added, "To any of them."
"You need to stop blaming yourself for that." Gill said as they all climbed up onto the pavilion. Tsunami, though she was hardly ever told what happened, knew that they were talking about her older sister Orca as she climbed up after them. Queen Coral paced back and forth on the first level of the pavilion and said, "I can't stop. Just about every night, I dream about that final battle. And she's laying there in my arms. And I know that I could have done more to save her. And I have a small fear of seeing someone else in her place."
"We were in the middle of a battle." Gill reminded. Then he argued, "And I doubt that Orca would want you to keep blaming yourself for something that you didn't have any control of.
"And she would want you to focus on the here and now. We won't let anything happen." Gill pointed out and looked to their daughter. Tsunami gave a small smile to her mother as if to say it's okay. Coral looked to her daughter and returned the smile before walking up to her child. Placing a talon on the side of Tsunami's head, Coral then brought Tsunami in for a hug and wrapped her wings around the little dragonet. Looking back her husband she gave a grateful smile and he responded by joining in on the embrace.
When they broke the hug, Tsunami seemed excited and said, "I saw a dragonet that looked my age."
"You did?" Gill said as both he and Coral looked down at their daughter. Tsunami nodded and said, "Uh-huh, I saw him on the way back up from the Deep Palace."
"Do you know who he is?" Coral asked. Tsunami shook her head and it made her parents look to each other. Coral looked back down to Tsunami and said, "Well, he might have been the son of one my advisors. Or someone whom we might be able to talk to."
"And perhaps if we talk to his parents, we can arrange for you to officially meet him." Gill suggested. This seemed to excite Tsunami even more and she asked, "Really?"
"Of course." Coral agreed, knowing that it would be good for her daughter to play with someone besides her brothers. The three royal Seawings opened their wings and took off to the higher platforms of the pavilion.
A few days later…
Queen Coral, King Gill, Princess Tsunami and a few of her brothers all sat at the top of the pavilion. While the dragonets sat by their parents side, the king and queen were sitting upon a couple of thrones. Tsunami was sitting by her mother's side as she waited along with everyone else. They waited for someone to arrive as they looked to the edge of the pavilion. Suddenly, Scuttle the seagull flew to the pavilion with three other Seawings behind him. They landed before the royal family and bowed in respect. Queen Coral nodded to them and said with a small wave of her talons, "You all may rise."
Tsunami recognized both of Scuttle and the young Seawing, but she was having a hard time placing the two older Seawings. Everyone of the royal family looked to Queen Coral when she said, "It's good to see you, Webs, Octavia and Riptide."
"Thank you for having us here, your majesty." Webs said as all three of their guests bowed in respect once more. When he rose again, Webs asked, "If you don't mind me getting to the point of this meeting, your majesty, but is there a reason that we were summoned?"
"Yes, there is." Queen Coral nodded and looked to Tsunami. Webs' and his family looked to the young princess as Coral explained, "Tsunami here saw your son swimming about the other day."
"I hope that there were no problems, your highness." Webs was quick to say, a little worried. But Queen Coral shook her head to calm him, "No, no. It's quite alright. She was just wanting to meet him is all."
"Oh." The visiting Seawing family said in unison. Riptide looked up to his parents before looking over to the princess. Tsunami gave him a small smile which he returned. King Gill then suggested, "Perhaps we can arrange for the two to play together from time to time."
"Would you like that, Riptide?" Octavia asked her son. Riptide looked up to his mother and nodded that he would. Queen Coral and Gill looked down to their daughter and the former asked, "How about you, Tsunami?"
"I would like that." Tsunami nodded as well. Coral looked to the visiting family and said, "Then it shall be arranged." Looking to Tsunami again, she said, "Why don't you go and show Riptide around one of the lower pavilions."
"Okay, Mother." Tsunami nodded and ran over to Riptide. She grabbed his talons before leading him to the edge of the pavilion. She let go of his talons as she unfurled her wings and took to the air. Riptide was quick to follow her into the air and they turned in midflight to head down to one of the lower pavilions.
When she was sure that they were gone, Coral looked to her sons and said, "Go keep an eye on them. Just to make sure they don't get into trouble."
"Yes, Mother." Her sons said before taking flight to follow after their sibling and her new friend. Queen Coral then looked to Webs and said, "Perhaps we should discuss an important detail."
"Um…" Webs said and looked to his wife who also looked unsure about what was needing to be said. But they listened closely to wait the queen would say.
…
Down below on the lowest pavilion near the water that led to the tunnel out of the Summer Palace, Tsunami was currently talking with Riptide. While he was currently laying on the edge of the pavilion, Tsunami asked, "So, what's it like living in the ocean pretty much all the time."
"It's mostly always wet." Riptide shrugged. Looking about the Summer Palace walls and all the little holes in it, he asked, "Have you ever been in one of those caves?"
"Only a few." Tsunami said and looked about the wall of holes. She looked to him and asked, "Have you been further than either of the palaces?"
"Only once." Riptide said and looked up to the canopy of trees above the pavilion and the holes in the walls. Looking to Tsunami he said, "We only a few feet away to collect something for dinner that time. I don't even remember what it was.
"When do you think you'll be able to go further from the palaces?" Riptide asked her. Tsunami sighed and said, "I don't know. My parents are a little overprotective of me ever since my only older sister Orca died during the war."
"I've heard stories about that war." Riptide remembered. With a shudder he added, "I heard that they were really brutal. Lots of Seawings and Scavengers died during those battles."
"Yeah." Tsunami said, trying to imagine what had happened during the war. But she was brought out of her thoughts when Riptide pointed behind her, "Um, aren't those your brothers?"
Tsunami happened to look where he was pointing and saw her brothers hanging their heads from over the side. They gasped when she saw them and ducked back up the pavilion. Tsunami had a slight scowl from her nosy brothers while Riptide laughed a little. When she was sure that they were gone, Tsunami looked back to Riptide and said, "Sorry about that."
"It's no big deal." Riptide shrugged with a smile. Then he admitted, "I honestly wouldn't mind having siblings."
"They're not a pain all the time." Tsunami said. With a sigh she added, "Mom's probably just being overprotective a little."
"At least it shows that she cares." Riptide offered with a grin. Tsunami nodded as he did have a point.
The two young dragonets spent the rest of the hour talking amongst themselves. One or the other would laugh when the other said something funny or just talk about what had happened in their lives.
The sound of flapping wings made them all look up to see their parents coming down to their level. When the older dragon's landed before them, Queen Coral looked to her daughter and asked, "Did you enjoy your time together?"
"Mm-hmm." Tsunami nodded and even Riptide smiled as well. Webs looked to his son and said, "Come along now, Riptide. It's time that we headed back home."
"Oh, okay." Riptide said, both dragonets becoming disappointed. He looked to Tsunami and said, "So, I guess I'll see you later."
"Yeah." Tsunami offered with a small smile. Riptide returned it before following his parents to the edge of the pavilion. He took one glance back before jumping off the pavilion and diving into the water with his parents.
"I hope that I can see him again soon." Tsunami wished aloud. Queen Coral gave her daughter a knowing smile and walked over to her. Then wrapping a wing around her daughter she said, "Oh, don't worry. He'll be back before you know it."
"Yeah, he will." Tsunami agreed, a grin forming on her face. She looked to the edge of the pavilion and new that she would see her knew friend again.

Elsewhere…
On another island inside another building, Shark was once again looking over some paper work on his desk. But when he glanced up, he knew that it was time for him to visit his allies. Rising from his desk, Shark walked to the door and said to one of the guards, "I'm be heading out for a bit. I'll be back sometime after sunset."
"Do you wish for someone to accompany you, sir?" The guard asked. But Shark shook his head, "No. I'll be just fine."
But just as the guard was about to protest, they were cut off when Shark gave them a hard stare. Then without another word, Shark unfurled his wings and took off into the air. The guards looked to each other, but didn't question it as he was their commanding officer at the moment.
…
Shark soon came upon the island where he originally found the Scavengers. He landed on the dead feeling beach and looked about. It wasn't long until he saw three Scavengers appear from the tree line. The female from their first meeting and the same two males accompanying her walked up to the sea dragon. The female, called Tes, looked to Shark and asked, "Well, what's the news?"
"We won't be able to strike just yet." Shark shook his head, causing the two male Scavengers, Bil and Greg, to groan. Shark and Tes looked at the two with glares and it shut them up. Crossing her arms, Tes asked, "So, how much longer do we have to wait?"
"Probably until the little ball of scales is six." Shark said as he thought about it. Taking a deep breath, Tes was a little ticked off about it but said, "The Clan isn't going to be happy with this news, Shark." But she nodded and promised, "But I'll see what I can do."
"I again promise that the rewards will be great." Shark said before turning back to the ocean. But before he left, Tes said to him, "Just remember to keep us in the loop."
"Have I ever broken my promise?' Shark questioned before taking off back to the camp. The three Scavengers watched him go before looking to each other. They were a little unsure, but decided to trust the Seawing and turned back.

Five years later…
It was a bright day in a spot outside of the Summer Palace on another section of the island. A six-year-old Tsunami was currently going over some training under the watchful eye of her parents and younger sister. The princess faced off against some of her brothers as one rushed up to her on the ground while another flew at her from the air. Tsunami jumped over one's head before using his back as a springboard and twisting to smack the brother in the air with her tail. Both brothers fell to the ground with a grunt as Tsunami landed on her feet. She turned back to her fallen brothers as they rose back on their feet. They were about to continue when they heard their father say, "All right, that's enough for now, everyone."
And just when everyone seemed to relax from the mock duel, Tsunami was suddenly tackled into by another of her brothers. The two young dragonets rolled across the ground before coming to a stop with Tsunami on top. She placed her talons against his throat but didn't go any further when she glanced up to her parents. Both Queen Coral and King Gill nodded to the princess and she stepped off of her brother. The siblings still sitting on the sidelines clapped their talons together on the performance. While the three brothers walked off with the others, Tsunami walked up to her parents and her mother said, "Well done, Tsunami."
"You're training is certainly going well." Gill agreed with a nod. Tsunami bowed her head, "Thank you both." She seemed a little hesitant to ask, but worked up the nerve, "And I know that it might be a little early to ask this, but I was hoping-"
"To join me for a patrol?" Queen Coral finished the question. Tsunami nodded with a smile to confirm what her mother said. Coral and Gill looked to each other before her father nodded his consent. Though she was a little reluctant to do so, Coral looked back to Tsunami and nodded, "Very well, you may join me for a one-on-one patrol tomorrow."
"Yes!" Tsunami shouted, now excited. She noticed the grins on her parents faces and calmed herself. Then with a bow of her head she quickly said, "Thank you, Mother and Father."
"Oh, just go on already." Queen Coral chuckled and waved her talons. Tsunami nodded and took off running for the Summer Palace. When she reached the cliff outside of the palace, Tsunami jumped over the edge and dived down into the sea below. Then turning her body, she headed for the tunnel entrance beneath the water and swam through. When she reached the end, Tsunami burst out of the water and headed for her usual meeting place with Riptide.
Landing on the pavilion where she and Riptide first hung out, she found the young dragonet sitting near the edge and watched a few servants go by. Landing next to him she said, "Riptide, guess what?"
"You're mom's finally letting you go with her?" Riptide asked, feeling a little excited. Tsunami nodded with a big grin, "My mom's finally letting me go on patrol with her. And she's letting me go tomorrow."
"And that means you might be able to come visit me for a change." Riptide beamed with enthusiasm. Tsunami was also grinning from how things were starting to look up.

Elsewhere…
Shark was currently making his way back to the island of the Scavengers. He only came when he had something to report to them or when they had called up on him. He had made sure that he hadn't been followed when he left the territories of the Seawings. This time it was the former, but he did decide to bring something for the Scavenger Clan. In his talons was the carcass of a large Great White shark, enough to feed the Scavengers until they could hunt and fish for themselves when he and Moray ruled. He soon arrived at the beach and dropped the dead shark on the sand. He didn't have to wait very long as Tes, Bil and Greg to walk from the tree line. They looked to the shark carcass and Tes asked, "What's going on?"
"An opportunity. One that we've been waiting a while for." Shark informed them. Pushing the shark forward with his talons he said, "I have heard that my sister plans to take her daughter out on patrol. Which is the perfect time to get rid of the princess."
"Oh, do enlighten us." Tes crossed her arms, a little skeptical about the news. Shark then said, "If you and a few of your Scavengers were to cause a little trouble, no doubt that Coral will send Tsunami home, and when I meet with her, I will send her in your direction."
"And take her out?" Tes asked, getting that was the feel of the plan. Shark nodded and said, "Yes. It's a pretty simple plan. If you follow it to the letter."
"Then we'll be ready." The three Scavengers said and bowed their heads. Shark bowed back before turning to take his leave. While the other two moved to get started on the dead fish, their leader stayed back for a moment as she looked to the departing. sea dragon. But as he unfurled his wings and took off, Tes had a slight feeling that the Seawing wasn't to be fully trusted as she narrowed her eyes.

Summer Palace…
As the sun had finished setting over the western horizon, Tsunami hurried herself down into the depths where the royal family usually slept in the Summer Palace. While she had a room that was designated for the two princesses and one for her brothers, she swam by the room that was for her parents and stopped at the opening. Both her mother and father were already laying on the beds when Coral happened to notice her daughter floating there. Through Aquatic Coral asked Tsunami, *Are you excited for tomorrow?*
*I am.* Tsunami signaled back. Coral could only smile from her daughter's enthusiasm and then signaled, *Then off to bed with you. We'll leave when the sun rises.*
Tsunami nodded before swimming off to her room. When she arrived, Tsunami immediately took the spot next to her little sister Anemone who was already fast asleep. She laid down on the bed and felt Anemone snuggle up to her. Though still buzzing with excitement, Tsunami was able to drift off to sleep and wonder what tomorrow would bring.

Author's Note: I think that's a good stopping point. And yes, Anemone will be a part of the story. And don't forget, I did this Kate's story in Wolf Alpha a while back. But I'm not really planning on any animus dragons in these kinds of stories to be honest. Next chapter we get back into the main story. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
