Sutherland and the story of The Lion King belongs to Disney. The only thing I own are the OCs of the story. I apologize for any errors and/or if I was not accurate in reference to something.
A/N: You know, this is usually an earlier chapter, but I'm not really complaining. I like how different this is from the others.

Chapter Eight: A Mother-Daughter Talk
The sun was nearly gone for this day by the time Queen Coral, Scuttle, Tsunami, Riptide and Anemone had made it halfway back to the Summer Palace. Minus the seagull, the four Seawings had swam through the ocean towards home. They had stopped at a small island and Queen Coral waded out of the water with the three dragonets right behind her. The three young dragons stopped and sat by a dune a few yards from the queen. Scuttle landed halfway between them and the queen. He looked back to the three and saw that they still hung their heads from what happened on the island of Scavengers. Both Riptide and Anemone looked to Tsunami that she was having the most guilt judging by the look in her eyes. Scuttle was startled when he heard his queen call to him, "Scuttle."
Taking flight again, the seagull flew towards Queen Coral and landed by her side. He nervously looked up to her and asked, "Yes, your Majesty?"
"Take Anemone and Riptide home." Queen Coral ordered with a gesture of her head to the two in question. She narrowed her eyes when she looked back, "I need to teach Tsunami a lesson."
Scuttle looked to the trio of Seawing dragonets and he and the other two watched as Tsunami tried to hide herself behind the dune. With a sigh, Scuttle took flight and made his way over to the three. Landing between the three the seagull had a stoic look when he turned and said, "Come along, you two.
"Tsunami…" He said when he turned to the elder princess. Placing a wing on her front talons he sighed before wishing her, "Good luck."
With that said, Scuttle took flight again and waited for Riptide and Tsunami to follow suit. When the two dragonets were in the air, all three of them started to fly back to the Summer Palace. While neither Anemone nor Scuttle looked back, Riptide cast one more glance to his best friend before turning his head forward again. Tsunami watched the three go until she cringed when her mother shouted for her, "Tsunami!"
Knowing that she needed to face the consequences of what she did today, the Seawing princess turned and walked around the dune to her mother. But just as she got closer, her foot stepped into something. She looked down and saw that she had stepped into Queen Coral's footprint. While she wasn't that far off, Tsunami then realized that she would have some big talons to fill. She then continued to walk up to her mother before sitting down next to her. The young Seawing slowly looked up to her mother's face and could see that she was really thinking. After a moment of silence, Coral closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then looking down at her daughter she said, "Tsunami, I am very disappointed in you."
"I know." Tsunami said as she hung her head. Her mother expressed her disappointment by saying, "You could have gotten all three of you killed today. You deliberately disobeyed me and went where you weren't supposed to go." She then adopted a look of shock when she said, "And what's worse you put your sister and Riptide in danger by going to that island."
"I-" Tsunami tried to say as she looked like she was about to breakdown. Wiping her eyes she said, "I was just trying to be brave like you."
"I'm only brave when I have to be." Coral said, her face softening and the look in her eyes calming down. Tsunami looked down in sadness, but looked up to her mother again when she said, "Tsunami, being brave doesn't mean that you go looking for trouble."
"But you aren't scared of anything." Tsunami shook her head. Coral took a deep breath as she looked down at the sand. She then told her daughter, "That's not entirely true, Tsunami. For I really was scared today."
"You were?" Tsunami asked, looking surprised by this. Her mother nodded and lowered her head a little, "Yes, I thought that I would lose you and your sister.
"The same way that I had lost Orca." She added and tried to keep her voice from cracking. That made Tsunami really think and she looked down at the sand. But when her mother cupped her chin with her talons, Tsunami looked up into Coral's eyes as her mother then said, "Tsunami, I swore that I would not lose you, our family or anyone else the way that I lost Orca that night. Ever."
"I really am sorry." Tsunami said as fresh tears appeared in her eyes. Coral sighed and gently wiped them away as she said, "I know that you are. And I know that dragonets your age can be quite adventurous."
"And I guess those things can make a queen scared sometimes, huh?" Her daughter asked her, knowing different now. Coral nodded to this, "Mm-hmm."
"But you know what?" Tsunami asked with a whisper and a mischievous look appeared in her eyes. Coral whispered back, "What?"
"I think that those three Scavengers were even more scared." Tsunami laughed a little when she remembered the looks on their faces. Coral chuckled at the memory as well as she said, "That's cause no one messes with your mother.
"Come here, you." The older Seawing wrapped her arm around her daughter and pulled her close. With a laugh the queen started rubbing her the knuckles of her free paw against the princess' head. This made Tsunami struggle in her mother's grip, "Oh, no! No!"
After a few tugs she was able to pull herself out of Coral's grip and then quickly tackled into her mother. Sand was kicked up as the two laughing Seawings rolled around together. The queen laughed as she rolled over and pushed the princess off of her. Getting back up, Coral took off running along the beach. Tsunami was quick to get up and run after her mother. The two rushed or wove past a few dunes before Coral stopped and looked back to her daughter. She was then tackled again by Tsunami and they fell against the sand. The two held on tight to each other. As Coral laughed and rolled over, Tsunami backed up and sat next to her mother. The queen sat up and the two laughed from their fun. Coral wrapped a wing around her daughter and held her close. Tsunami relished being in her mother's embrace. She looked up to her mother and tried to ask her, "Mother, are we…"
"Good?" Coral finished the question for her daughter. Tsunami nodded to this and it made her mother laugh a little. Wrapping her wing around her dragonet, Coral said with a smile, "Of course. Just because there are times I get mad, doesn't mean that I'll stop loving you. Ever"
"And we'll always be together, right?" Tsunami asked, hoping that it could be true. But Coral didn't answer that question right away and it made her daughter tilt her head. She looked ahead as she thought about the answer to that. Looking down to the dragonet, the queen told the princess, "Tsunami, let me tell you something that my mother once told me." Turning her head skyward she said, "Look up at the stars. It is said that the great Seawing Queens of the past look down on us from those stars."
"Really?" Tsunami asks in wonder as she looks up to them as well. Coral nodded, "Yes." Then she added to tell her daughter, "So whenever you should feel alone, just remember that those queens will be up there to guide you. And so will I."
"Wow." Was all the young princess could say as they looked up to the star filled sky together. After a few minutes of stargazing, Queen Coral rose up and said, "Come on. Let us head home now. Your father and siblings will be wondering where we are."
"Okay." Tsunami said as she too got up off the sand. The two Seawings opened their wings and took to the air. The two looked to each other as they kept climbing up. After climbing high enough, Queen Coral and Princess Tsunami turned in the direction of the Summer Palace. And as she flew side by side with her mother, Tsunami really took her mother's lesson to heart.

Author's Note: And once again we end after the lesson from parent to child. I actually enjoyed doing a beach setting for this for once. A short scene but a powerful lesson to learn. Who knows where we'll be the next time I do a Lion King story like this. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
