A/N: Ginger's plan comes to light and it's been something that I thought would be very neat.

Chapter Six: A Dark and Dangerous Road

It was a bleak day in the future as Ginger made her way through the halls of the Time Travel Bureau. She remembered what she told the board, but her words didn't seem to sit well even now…

(Flashback)

Standing before the board, she had presented the altered Brain Drain to them. When asked what her plan was, Ginger looked a little ashamed when only one way to stop Screw-Eyes' plan came to her. She nearly hesitated, but came forth with her idea, "The only way for us to be able to stop the professor, is for us to be on an even playing field with him."

"Does that mean we give the dinosaur's this?" One of the board members asked her while gesturing the pill in front of them. But Ginger shook her head, "No. If our scientists could alter this formula just a little more, Rex and his friends just may be able to handle themselves against Elsa long enough to apprehend Screw-Eyes."

"Such an action will need to be thought over." Another said, not really liking the idea. A third agreed while disagreeing, "It may be a bit of a poor choice, but it may be the only one we have."

"We'll come together tomorrow and come to a decision." The member at the far side of the table decided. Ginger and the rest of the TTB board nodded in agreement.

(End of flashback)

She looked up to see that she had come before the doors to the conference room. Ginger took a deep breath before walking into the room. She found the board members already inside and sitting in their usual spots. Ginger stood at the ready to see what they had to say about her plan. The head of the board folded their hands together and said, "Ginger, in light of this development regarding the dinosaurs we've come to a vote."

"We agree that Screw-Eyes needs to be stopped at all costs before his actions gravely affect us all." Another said, horrified by what the mad man could get up to. The head then said, "We agree to alter the Brain Drain formula and allow you to give it to the dinosaurs in New York."

"But you must know that such an action does not come without precautions." The other woman in the room said. Ginger placed her hands behind her back as she nodded, "Understood."

"The first item to be addressed is the Brain Drain pill." The head of the group said. Then he started the list, "Once the dinosaurs take the altered pill, they have approximately three weeks to find and apprehend Screw-Eyes and his associates. When the week is up, they must take the captain's cereal to fully negate the effects of the pill."

"So there are side effects of the altered pill?" Ginger asked and he nodded to confirm it. Then he continued by saying, "The next item of the precautions, is that the kids, Louie and Cecilia, are not to be involved in this operation."

Ginger knew that the group wouldn't like that, but she understood with a nod. The head of the board then said, "We'll only have enough chemicals to make three pills for each of the dinosaurs.

"And judging by what the scientists were able to come up with, the dinosaurs' mental levels will be on the boarder between their intelligent and primal states." He reviewed what the notes had when he looked over what was in a folder. Ginger then asked, "When will the pills be ready?"

"They only need a few more hours to be completed." He told her. Ginger nodded, "Then please inform me so I can come and get them. Time is not on our side in this."

"Agreed." The board agreed with her. With that said, Ginger turned and walked out of the conference room.

Back in the past, everyone was still waiting for Ginger to return from the future. The museum had closed a little early due to the lack of attendance for obvious reasons. Dweeb was currently trying to learn chess with Cecilia while Louie was sitting on Woog's back and trying to scratch it for him. It seemed to work a little as Woog was feeling a little better from the itch. Captain Neweyes was currently talking with Ms. Bleeb about the future of the museum. Rex was the only one by himself as he stared out the window and gazed about the city. As his eyes wandered, his thoughts were coming back to their missing friend.

The doors to the dinosaur's quarters opened up and Ginger once again walked into the room after being gone for a little while. Captain Neweyes walked up to her and asked, "So, what did they say?"

"We have come up with a plan." Ginger told them and it made the group look to each other. Taking a deep breath, Ginger began to tell them of what had been discussed in the future.

Ginger finished telling them by saying, "With the altered Brain Drain pill, you'll have a better chance of subduing Elsa and apprehending Screw-Eyes."

"So, we only have three weeks to save Elsa?" Woog asked her. Ginger hung her head and felt ashamed when she nodded her head. She looked to them and said, "But I warn you, this is a dark and dangerous road that you'll be undertaking. I can't guarantee that you'll like it."

"But the choice is theirs right?" Captain Neweyes asked her. Ginger nodded and said, "It is. No one will blame you for not wanting to do this."

"How do we even know that it'll work?" Dweeb asked her. Ginger looked to the Parasaurolophus and said, "The only way to know is if someone takes it."

"I'll do it." Rex's voice said from the back. They all looked to him and Louie asked, "Are you sure about this, Rex?"

"Hm?" The Tyrannosaur asked and looked at the boy. Louie was a little worried and asked, "What if you end up becoming totally feral again? And what if you become so far gone that we can't bring you back?"

"It'll be fine, Louie." Rex assured his little friend. From his spot, Neweyes could tell that there was a lot more going on with his friend. Rex walked around the group and stopped before Ginger. She held up one of her hands that had a pill and presented it to him. Rex looked at the altered Brain Drain pill with a look of uncertainty. But as he thought about the trouble that Elsa was in, Rex adopted a look of unwavering conviction as he was thinking of saving her.

He reached down and took the pill from Ginger. Everyone watched with worry and anticipation to what was about to happen. Rex took the pill and swallowed it. The others took a step back as they weren't sure what to expect.

Rex's body started to shudder as he could feel the effects kicking in. He growled as he dropped onto his hands. Louie took a step forward and said, "Rex?!"

"I'm fine." Rex said while gently using his tail to push Louie back a little. Rex then felt a pain coursing through his body as the changes continued. The T-Rex's claws scrapped against the wooden floors when he clenched his scaly hand. His skin started turning darker, the scales on the back of his neck raised a little and his appearance becoming a little more scary and the pupils of his eyes becoming more feral like. When the transformation ended, Rex was left kneeling on the floor panting from the experience.

Deciding to take a chance, Louie stepped forward again and asked, "Rex? You okay, buddy?"

The Tyrannosaurus Rex rose up to his full height while keeping his back to his friends. Everyone suddenly became worried when they heard a growl coming from the predatory dinosaur. Rex slowly turned to look at them and had a look in his eye when he saw them. Everyone gulped as they thought that this had gone in a bad direction. But Rex took a deep breath before saying, "Sorry if I scared you guys."

"Uh, no problem." Louie waved it off, even though they were still a little unsure about it. Ginger stepped up behind Louie and asked, "How do you feel?"

"Like my head's been hit by a truck multiple times." Rex said while rubbing the side of it. Dweeb laughed when he said, "Heh, at least we know that it works."

Rex looked at his friend with an unamused look and it made Dweeb shut up. Woog then said, "I guess we should take ours now, huh?"

"It would be best, yes." Ginger agreed with him. Woog and Dweeb both walked up to take theirs. Then she held up her hand with the remaining two pills and asked, "Are you two ready?"

"Not really." The Triceratops and the Parasaurolophus shook their heads. But their thoughts drifted to Elsa and they knew that she was needing their help. They sighed when Dweeb said, "But we're willing to do this for Elsa."

Dweeb took both pills from Ginger and tossed Woog his. The Triceratops caught it in his mouth and quickly swallowed while Dweeb took his as well. Like with Rex, they felt the changes hit them instantly. Their scales turned darker and Woog's horns became sharper while his frill expanded a little. Dweeb felt his crest grow a little while his claws grew a little sharper. When they were done, they looked like they did before becoming what they were, only having their minds in the same state. Rex looked to Ginger and asked, "Okay, what's next?"

"Next is finding Screw-Eyes." Ginger told them the next step. Captain Neweyes then said, "We're in luck, we just heard over the radio that some guys at the docks had been attacked. And my brother's newly bought yacht has left port."

"Any idea as to where it was heading?" Ginger asked him. But the captain shook his head. The doors suddenly slammed open and Kane stepped into the room. They looked to the wrestler and he said, "I think I have an idea of where he's going."

"What? Where?" The entire room asked him. Kane explained, "When I had been called by that nutjob." He looked to the captain and added, "No offense."

"None taken." Captain Neweyes waved it off. Kane then said, "I had heard from some of the goth guys that he was planning to head down to Washington."

"Washington?" A confused group asked. Neweyes' eyes darted left and right as he thought about what his brother could be thinking. He gasped when he had an idea. Ginger looked to him and asked, "What is it?"

"My brother's plan." Neweyes said. Then he explained, "My brother plans to take the dinosaurs that each museum receives from the past to turn them into his attractions, or worse."

"And Elsa was the first one he went after?" Cecilia asked, thinking that this was horrible. Captain Neweyes could only nod and he said, "He's trying to fulfill his own twisted dreams by trying to wreck mine."

"Then we got to stop him." Louie said when he punched his fist into his palm. But Ginger shook her head, "I'm afraid that you and Cecilia will not be doing anything?"

"What?" Both children cried out in confusion. Ginger held up her hand to calm them. She explained, "The Time Travel Bureau has forbidden the two of you from accompanying us on this mission. It was the only way that they would even consider doing this.

"And they do have a point." She agreed while having a sad look on her face. Looking to the children she said, "You two could end up getting hurt. So I'm afraid that the two of you will have to go home and wait it out."

"But-" Louie and Cecilia started to argue. But Rex cut them off by saying, "She's got a point, kids. None of us want to leave you guys behind, but we couldn't live with ourselves if something were to happen to you."

Cecilia and Louie looked to each other, as if still wanting to protest but when they looked into the eyes of the dinosaurs and the adults they saw that there was no arguing with them. Louie and Cecilia both nodded their understanding of the situation. They nodded, "Okay."

"Go and wait outside, you two." Ginger instructed. Then she added, "I'll be sure to have someone give you a lift home."

Cecilia and Louie looked to each other before solemnly walking out of the room. When the door closed behind them, Ginger looked to them and said, "We'll need to figure out a way to get the three of you down to Washington."

"My airship might be able to get them there in time." Captain Neweyes suggested to her. Ginger nodded and said, "That might be our best bet. Swing it by the roof tonight and we can get underway."

"Right." Captain Neweyes nodded in agreement. However, none of them were aware that the door had been left open but a crack.

Outside in the hallway, Louie and Cecilia had happened to overhear what had been said. Louie glanced down to Cecilia and nodded his head away from the door. They carefully moved from the door and Louie asked her, "You hear what they said?"

"Mm-hm." Cecilia nodded. Louie then laid out his plan, "We need to be hear tonight to make sure that we get on board."

"But we could get into big trouble." Cecilia argued with him. But Louie then reminded, "But we know what's at stake here. And I know that you want to help Elsa as much as I do."

Cecilia bit her lip as she thought about what he was saying. He had a point that she wanted to help Elsa, especially since she still blamed herself for what had happened. Then she asked, "But how will we pull this off?

"They're leaving tonight and we're being taken home." She reminded with a look. Louie thought about it and said, "No problem. We'll just say that I'm walking you home and we circle around back."

"I guess we've got nothing better." Cecilia shrugged, thinking it was a decent plan at least. The two looked back to the door and hoped that they would be able to go and help their friend.
