Chapter 14
Shizuo slept quietly in the silence of his room, feeling the lack of Flea's warmth he rolled himself over, his hand wondering across the cool sheets in search of his kitten's soft fur, but he found nothing... had flea wondered off in the night?
Shizuo reluctantly cracked open his eyes, scouring the room for the tiny raven cat. It was still dark where had he gone? His eyes eventually met a pair of elevated red orbs.
"Flea, why are you over on the dresser? It's the middle of the night, why don't you come back over here." He called out to his cat, its eyes silently watching him from across the bedroom.
The kitten made no move indicating he'd heard the blond and as the clouds in the night sky drifted past the moon, letting its soft light filter though the window and light up the room, Light reflecting off those silent eyes and revealing the face of the one staring at him.
The sight that met Shizuo's eyes was not what he had expected; the Flea staring at him was not his pet cat on the dresser but Izaya Orihara standing at the foot of his bed, the same man he'd seen near dead in a hospital bed barely two days ago. The raven was watching him, his face devoid of emotion.
"I-Izaya, what are you doing here? How did you-?" How did the raven manage to make it all the way from Shinra's in his condition?
At the sound of his name the raven seemed to realize Shizuo was staring at him. His brows furrowing in mild anger and a wide smile stretched its way across his face, mocking and cruel.
The moment the raven's mouth opened to speak; blood poured out past his lips, over his pale chin and covered his front.
He gurgled past the blood pooling in his mouth. As he moves closer to the end of the bed, uneven steps, his body half collapsing onto the foot of the bed before he began crawling forward on the bed up the length of the stunned blonde's body.
The flow of blood from his open mouth was finally slowing; the last of it dribbling down his chin, soaking through the sheets draped over Shizuo's lap. Shizuo could feel the wet warmth soaking through the thin fabric.
Raven locks now covered Izaya's eyes, with a rattling breath the man began to speak.
"What do you mean, why am I here? It hurts Shizu-Chan, but I really missed you Shizu-chan, did you miss me? I missed you sooo~ much, I came all the way here even though it hurts sooo~ much."
The raven haired man pushed himself up straight onto his knees, now fixing his gaze on the ceiling above them, his hands trying to grasp something wet falling from his shirt and keep it in place.
He was failing and it didn't take long for Shizuo to see what it was, his intestines now unraveling and pooling onto Shizuo's lap joining the blood from earlier.
Shizuo felt bile filling his mouth at the sight, hands scrambling forward in a poor attempt to help the raven put his insides... well, back inside.
One of Izaya's bloody hands caught his wrist. There was no real force behind the action, but it made Shizuo pause none the less. Surly at this point he was going to be sick any minute. He wanted so badly to help the raven, but not sure if his attempts would be more harmful then helpful.
Not to mention when his mind caught up with his actions, the thought of holding, even touching organs that most definitely should never be outside of the raven's body, which belonged securely inside the other man and not on Shizuo's bed sheets, it was making sick. He wasn't sure what was worse, the sight in front of him or the idea of touching Izaya's spilt organs, something so delicate that should not be exposed like that.
"Fuck, Izaya! The blood, you're going to die, does Shinra know you're up? Why did you come here like that? Your fucking guts are spilling out! Did you rip you stitches on the way here?" He couldn't believe Izaya would do something so stupid as soon as he woke up. Through sheer panic and rage he could only yell at the bleeding out man perched on his bed in the dead of night, hands still frozen in the air where the raven had stopped him from reaching out.
The raven's head tilted to the side, slowly drawing his head back down from where his eyes had been locked on the ceiling, now starring down at him, his eyes glazed over, dead looking.
"Dying hurts sooo much Shizu-Chan and I just can't seem to keep myself together, you know? You really messed me up..." The raven man's playful lilt now slowly fading from his voice as he went on.
"I can't pass on, I'm lonely Shizu-chan~ why don't you come with me? I can only be at peace when you know this pain too." His sad tone turning into manic joy, Izaya flung his head back a rattled psychotic laugh weakly building in his damaged throat.
Calming quickly he looks back down at Shizuo playfully tilting his head to the side.
"I'll haunt you until you die just as painfully as what you did to me, you'll never know peace until I do. You did murder me after all. I'll never forgive you, you monster. I look forward to seeing your horrid demise; you owe me that at least neh?" His mood swings were sending Shizuo for a loop, the raven was completely loosing it, not that Izaya was ever really sane.
"Don't you feel bad Shizu-chan, or can't monsters feel guilt? Not only did you do this to me" He gestured down at his eviscerated form, no longer making an effort in holding himself together.
"But because of loyalty amongst monsters or whatever, your dear headless friend bound me to my mangled corpse just to make you feel better... So... why. don't. you. Make me feel better and just die!" The raven's playful voice morphed with each emphasized word into one filled with pain and distain as he swiped his switch blade out of nowhere, slashing it across Shizuo's face, aiming right for his eyes.
Shizuo closed his eyes tight as pulled his head back at the last second, feeling the blade graze his cheek as his back met the bed. He was grateful it missed his eyes; his body may be strong but his eyes not so much.
Snapping his eyes back open, he looked into those cold carmine orbs glaring at him. Izaya's right hand was pressed on the center of his chest in an attempt at holding him down while his other held his knife high, ready to bring it down. The raven didn't have the strength to pin him but Shizuo still made no attempt to push him off or reverse their position.
"Damnit Izaya, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry, I never meant for this, for you to end up like this!" tears filled his eyes as he looked up at the bloody raven, his injuries' only seemed to get worse and worse by the minute.
"Mya?"
He blinked a few times. "What?" He asked dumbly, did Izaya just meow at him?
His vision began to clear, reality shifting around him until he was fully awake, The red eyes looking at him now belonged to Flea, the kitten was perched on his chest meowing at him worriedly, his cheek stung where Izaya had slashed... no where Flea must have scratched him so he'd wake up.
"...Flea..." Shizuo whipped at his tears in frustration. "Fuck, sorry little guy, I must have worried you huh?"
"Mya!" the kitten responded as it narrow it eyes, looking at him as if to say, you got that right you big oaf.
His brother had once said he should get a pet, maybe a pet could have a calming effect on him and having something to look after might mellow him out. He had refused for years, saying he couldn't afford a pet, eventually admitting cost wasn't the real reason, it was just that small animals were to fragile.
Kasuka had convinced him to look after his tiny Scottish fold, Dokusonmaru a few times, whose name was a mouthful and Shizuo could never remember the full thing, what he could remember was long enough. Even then it mostly sat on his head and followed him around as he tried not to touch him too much, content with allowing the small creature to climb all over him as it pleased.
Having Flea was different, the little black kitten had needed his attention, he was cold, dirty and starving when Shizuo has found him. Shizuo couldn't just leave the kitten to do as it pleased and had gotten used to handling his little kitten as a result.
Flea's presence had not only calmed him like his brother had said a pet would, but he was a huge comfort while Shizuo was coming to terms with his current situation. His cat seemed to know when he was upset, apparently even knew when to wake him from a nightmare, that's what it was, a simple nightmare, Izaya was still at Shinra's, not wondering around with his guts hanging out like he was from some horror movie.
Shizuo Sighed in relief as he pet his little companion, today was probably going to be a slow one thought the blonde.
Hmm trauma chapter, Sorry Shizuo, typically it's Izaya I like to traumatize but he already had his turn.
Welp I guess next chapter can be some mild fluff before shit starts to hit the fan. Xp
