A/N: Like I said in the previous chapter, this is a combination of a dream that I once had, a bit of foreshadowing and an experience that happened to me in the game. I kind of wish that I could recreate either one, because they were really awesome.

Chapter Forty-Six: Odd Yet Good Dreams

The night was more peaceful since the defeat of the mysterious creature. Jacob and Grumper were lying peacefully on the top of the dune within the lair of Jacob's Diablos friends. And as he laid there on the sand, Jacob smiled from the dream he was having.

Jacob's Dream…

At first Jacob had his eyes closed, but when he felt himself sitting on something and that something moving, he opened them. The human teen found himself riding on the back of Grumper, but the Anjanath looked twice as big as usual. Looking around he saw that they were back in the Ancient Forest and currently walking along the slope that went down to the sea.

The two went up the slope to the fork in the road and turned to the left to continue to go higher up the tree. As they came upon the wall of vines that went further up the tree, Jacob happened to see Boltia standing there. Wanting to see her again, the human moved to slide off the Anjanath's back as Grumper continued walking down the hill. When his feet hit the ground, Jacob ran for the wall of vines and climbed up them. He reached the top and saw Boltia heading up further into the Ancient Tree. He ran after her just as she climbed up a large wall of vines that went up to the next level of the tree. With a huff, Jacob decided to go up the long way to try and catch up to her.

But when he reached the top, the Tobi-Kadachi seemed to have vanished and he became confused. As he moved about the botanical walkway, he heard rustling and thinking that it could be Boltia he moved to see what it is. When he looked over the drop, he could see another platform a few feet below him with something there. Jacob became really surprised to see not a Tobi-Kadachi, but another creature. This one, covered in jet black fur, had a pointed beak, a bladed tail and wing tips and cat-like body stood in the middle of the platform. Jacob wasn't sure what this creature was, but it didn't stay long as it turned and took off running down another tunnel in the tree.

Jacob thought about going after it, but a gust of wind made him shield himself. When he looked again, the human teen found himself at the botanical arena. A small growl made him turn around to see the Rath family standing at the opening next to the drop. The three young Raths rushed up to greet him while Mama Rath walked behind. Jacob laughed as they seemed happy to see him, but became surprised when the Rathian covered his head with her wing. The teen heard the sounds of movement, but Mama Rath kept her wing over him when he tried to move. A moment later, she removed her wing and he saw that the three were gone.

Figuring that this was their way of playing hide-and-seek, a grin grew on Jacob's face as he looked around for where they could be. He knew that they couldn't have gotten far so he knew that they were close. Looking over to Papa Rath, Jacob noticed that the Rathalos was trying to look like nothing was wrong by looking around, but when the teen looked down, he noticed his wings in front of him in a slightly suspicious manner. Getting an idea of where they were, Jacob quietly moved closer and heard a small squeal coming from behind the King of the Skies. Carefully moving around the patriarch of the family, Jacob found the three huddling behind their father's leg.

Jacob and the three moved around Papa Rath again and the human teen covered his eyes with his hands before removing them. The trio seemed to understand that it was there turn and covered their eyes with a wing. Knowing that he didn't have a whole lot of time, Jacob quickly turned and ran down the curving pathway. Mama and Papa watched him go as he turned down a corner. When he reached the bottom, the human thought about where to go when he saw the path that would take him towards the second camp and the tunnels. He darted for it when he heard the trio squealing from above.

He came up to the spot where the cave entrance was and jumped down into the pond below. After landing with a splash, Jacob moved into one of the bushes and crouched down to stay hidden. But as he waited for the trio to come and find him, he heard the sounds of much larger wings flapping. Glancing up from the foliage, Jacob's eyes widened when he saw a fully grown, blue Rathalos coming at him. He thought it was going to attack and shielded himself with his arms. But when he looked again he found the blue Rathalos hovering in front of him. The blue Flying Wyvern reared his head back and let loose a loud roar that made Jacob cover his ears. Jacob became greatly confused and surprised when the blue Rathalos suddenly turned around flew off over the trees.

Bewildered by this new experience, Jacob stepped out of the foliage and watched the flying beast go. But he wasn't able to ponder on it for long when a couple of somethings tackled into him. The boy looked up to see both Verda and Rahtria standing over him, squealing in delight from their game. Samson was quick to join them as he glided down from the top of the drop. Jacob laughed as he sat up and gently rubbed the top of their heads with his hands. A small roar made him look up to see Mama and Papa Rath flying down to them. The two Raths moved to where they could land in the more spacious part of the spot. When they touched down Samson, Rahtria and Verda rushed towards their parents and the two grown up Raths lowered their heads to nuzzle them. Papa Rath then extended his wing towards Jacob and the boy smiled as he got up and walked closer. When he was close enough Papa Rath pulled Jacob into the middle of the group. Jacob couldn't help but laugh from how much he was loving this dream as he placed a hand on both adult Rath's snouts.

Back in the real world, Jacob was on his back as he lightly laughed in his sleep while his hands were mimicking his motions from the dream. When his laughing stopped, he turned onto his side with the grin still on his face.

Author's Note: Not gonna lie to you guys, the thing with the Azure Rathalos did in fact happen to me while I was playing the game. Basically what happened was, I was on an expedition, came across him and a green Rathian by that very spot in the Ancient Forest, got sighted by them and I ran for my life. Hid in the bushes and somehow it managed to find me. But like in this dream, he didn't attack me. To all those who are still wondering about Swift, I do hope that you enjoyed the little cameo. The part with the giant Grumper was part of a dream that I once had. Just as cool as the dream where I met with a Hybreed from Ben 10 Alien Force and I either high-fived him or shook his hand. However, in the dream with Grumper, he licked a giant lollypop. I look forward to reading your reviews.
