Rage looked at the scorched earth below him and sighed. The bright flare of energy around his body faded and he floated down to the ground. An ethereal green glow covers the ground and craters and scorched areas return to a dull, reddish brown surface of hard rock and soil.
Shortly after strands of yellow energy gathered in front of him and formed a yellow Mobian armadillo. "That'll do." It says as Rage sat down and sighed.
"That felt easier than the others did Nel…" Rage sighed as the armadillo nodded and sat next to him.
"How many are you at now?" They ask.
Rage looked up to the sky and sighed "Let's see…Inferno, Icy, Life, Shocking, Aqua, Rocky, Aero, now Star and Holy…which leaves one more right?"
"Seriously?! All of that in the last few months?" Nel asks in shock.
"Well…aside from Icy, Inferno and Life." Rage shrugs as he lays back. "Granted locating your prison on Dark Mobius made it a lot easier…but there's none of you Old Guardians left that need saving."
"That's true." Nel nods "…and without a doubt you're the strongest out of all of us…only a few months and you've mastered all forms of Elemental Chaos. Guess that's what should be expected from Chaos' Chosen."
"Hold on…what about Dark-" Rage began to ask. However, Nel silenced him.
"No." He says "You're thinking of Demonic Chaos. It is forbidden."
"Why?" Rage asks curiously.
"Demonic Chaos was forbidden because of how vulnerable it makes us." Nel says looking at the stars. "The only master of it was among The Fallen…if she survived…well you don't want to run into her."
"Her?" Rage asks, tilting his head curiously.
"Kira the Wolf…" Nel says in a tone that reflected a deep rooted sadness he used some magic to create a projection of a gray furred wolf with glowing, sinister blood red eyes. A sinister dark purple aura surrounded her.
"I don't remember hearing that name before." Rage says curiously.
"You wouldn't have…no doubt Chaotix kept it from you." Nel sighs. "It's believed she was the first to fall…she was the first to discover Demonic Chaos and probably the only one who mastered it and managed to keep herself sane…but when Vlagh started to corrupt us…she became a demon in her own right…because of that we deemed Demonic Chaos as forbidden."
"So…what happened to her?" Rage pressed looking at Nel who shrugged.
"We don't actually know. Officially we believe she was killed during her battle with Dex…" he replied. "However there is the possibility she's somehow still kicking around Dark Mobius or Moebius…"
"She has to be dead!" Rage scoffs "Dex wouldn't let her survive! He's too good to let her go…"
"You don't understand Rage…" Nel says glaring at the crimson hedgehog. "Kira was Dex's…lover."
Rage looks at Nel in shock. He couldn't believe it. "Dex…he wouldn't have let her live over that…" he stated.
"We can only hope that's the case." The yellow armadillo sighs as he looks back at the ground. "But…Dex was conflicted back then. We all were to an extent."
"I'll ask him-" Rage began to speak but he was silenced by Nel
"No!" He barked "It's best not to bring her up to Dex. It'll only hurt him more."
"So…let's say she is alive, what do I do if I run into her?" Rage asks "Wouldn't it be against our tenants to…you know."
Nel shook his head before he spoke; "I'd advise that you avoid her but if it came to it, no it would not be. Kira is among The Fallen, they are not to be spared. That was the official decision." He explains. "I'm sure I don't need to remind you of The Shadow War."
Rage shook his head "No, you don't." He responds with a soft chuckle. "Chaotix did nothing but beat that into my head for like the first two years I was here." He chuckled, "I'm surprised I don't have brain damage from it."
Nel laughed at Rage's response, the crimson hedgehog soon joining in after. They calmed down as they heard someone walk up from behind them. The two turned their heads and looked to see who it was. Standing behind them was Dex. "Dex, what brings you all the way out to the Training Grounds?" Nel asks.
"Rage." Dex says in a stern tone. "We need to talk."
"About?" Rage asks, raising an eye in curiosity. Dex looked at Nel who simply nodded before teleporting away. After a minute Dex let out a heavy sigh. Rage looked a bit more worried as Dexgave him a serious look.
"You've been busy." Dex says "You've brought back many of The Lost..."
"Yeah..." Rage nods as he speaks "Why wouldn't I?" he asks.
Dex turned and looked to the starry skies. "It's not that I'm ungrateful...but I'm worried." He says "We had no way of locating them, no way of finding them...yet you've gotten all of them in a matter of months."
"Yeah...I found where they were being held." Rage says with a shrug. "If it wasn't for Christain I could have brought them all back in one swoop. As far as he's concerned they're dead."
"How?" the red wolf asks, his amber eyes giving off an unsettling feeling.
"How?" Rage repeated the question back looking confused. "By slowly taking them one by one he's under the impression that each of them has withered away."
"I mean how did you find them?" Dex sighs, pinching his nose.
"Oh." Rage nods "Well...I did some digging in The Archives along with some digging around Dark Mobius and with a little help I managed to find out that the place they were being kept was on Dark Mobius, in Christain's...er...Nix's Fortress."
"You've been going to Dark Mobius?!" Dex exclaims "You know that's dangerous!"
"It's not as bad as you think, Dex!" Rage shouts "The people there aren't all bad! In fact if not for their help, I'd not have been able to rescue any of them..." he admits.
"What do you mean...?" Dex asks, giving Rage a glare.
"This is exactly why I didn't say anything..." Rage scoffs. "Because I knew you'd disapprove!"
"Rage!" Dex barks and Rage sighed.
"The only way to get them out of their cells was by using Darkness..." Rage admits.
"You've been using Darkness?!" Dex exclaims furiously. "Are you-"
"I haven't!" Rage retorts. "Like I said, I had help!" he exclaimed. "My friend and I used Dark Pathways to get them out of that abyss they were being held in, then we used normal means to make it back here!"
"Why is this the first I am hearing about it?!" Dex exclaims.
"This is exactly why..." Victoria sighs as she joins the two. "Chaotix knew you'd react like this."
"Vic..." Rage says softly.
"Chaotix knew?!" Dex says in a furious tone as he clenches a fist in anger.
"Yes." Rage says with a sigh. "Dex, we knew that if you knew how we had been doing this...you'd never approve because you're too focused on how things were back then."
"Pick your next words carefully Chaotic..." Dex warns as Rage gives Dex a look.
"Or what?" Rage challenges. "Need I remind you that officially you have no authority over me? Chaos is the only one who does." he says sternly. "I chose to save them because I need to know everything I can for when Christain returns...I barely made it out last time with my life!"
"You think that gives you the okay to use Darkness?!" Dex exclaims. "The very thing that corrupted him in the first place?! The very thing that corrupted so many of us?! You don't understand what you're playing with here! Darkness is not our ally! Nor is anyone from the places it controls!"
"You're just upset over what it did to Kira!" Rage replies in a furious tone.
Victoria gasps and Dex's eyes went wide in shock. "Where did you hear that name...?" Dex growls angrily.
"Dex enough!" Riviera shouts as she grabs his arm. He shoved her away and approached Rage.
"Stay out of this Riviera." he says as Rage stood his ground. "I'll not ask again."
"Dex...I know what happened." Rage says in a more soft tone. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to-"
"Didn't mean to what?!" Dex exclaims as he grabs Rage by the shirt. His hand glowed with a strange dark red energy. The resonance from it felt cold to the parts of fur that it touched on Rage's chest.
"DEX!" Victoria shouts as she fires two chunks of ice at the red wolf. Both impact him and he turns his gaze to her. Rage then blinked back a few feet out of Dex's grasp. He brought a hand to where he had been grabbed.
"Dex...what was that?" Rage asks, looking shocked. The energy that Dex had used wasn't anything he was familiar with but it was still somehow familiar. The area that had contacted him hurt, and it was difficult for him to catch his breath. Dex looked back to him and his fist shook in anger.
"It's nothing." Dex says spitefully as he turns around. "We'll talk about this later." he said over his shoulder before he walked away. Victoria ran up to Rage as he sat down. She quickly tugged at his shirt collar and looked at the mark that had been left, around his collar bone was dark as if it had been burned away with a strange magic.
"Are you alright?" she asks as her hands glow with a soft green energy. She placed them on his chest and the wound he had slowly began healing.
"Yeah..." Rage says "I've taken worse." he says "Thank you though...if you weren't here to stop him..."
"You and him would have probably beaten each other to a pulp." She says as she finishes healing him.
"Thank you..." Rage says as he fixes his shirt. "What brought you all the way out here anyway?"
"I was looking for you." She says. "Tikal contacted us and said a friend of yours in Equestria has been looking for you."
"Probably Twilight..." Rage sighs. "I guess it has been a few days. She's probably worried sick, I didn't tell her where I was going. Knowing her she'd probably get too nosey and find a way to access The Gateway." he chuckled softly.
"Twilight...the one you were staying with right?" Victoria asks.
"Yeah, at first it was sorta supposed to be a temporary thing but now that she has this whole palace she seems to just want me to stay in one of the many extra rooms there." Rage says as Victoria helped him back to his feet.
"That's sweet of her." She smiles as they start their trek back to the Council Plaza so Rage could return to Angel Island, and to Equestria. "She seems pretty fond of you."
"We're friends." Rage shrugs. "Plus given her being the curious, intellectual type, of course she'd be interested in the alien who can use all sorts of supernatural abilities." he chuckled.
"I mean...you sure managed to fit in there well." Riviera's voice echoed softly as she appeared and flaps just over Victoria's left shoulder.
"Now maybe..." Rage chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck to try and massage out a tense muscle he had. It was then that Bureinjingukaosu appeared over his right shoulder and looked him in the eye.
"Says you." the dragon scoffs "I bet had you and Sonic not been so careless and paid more attention you could probably have pulled off being from there." he says.
"You think so, Blade?" Rage asks with a soft chuckle. "I dunno...I feel like that's a stretch."
"You don't give yourself enough credit." Riviera chuckled. "You're a weird one."
"We're all a little weird Rivs." Victoria chuckled. "Each of us has our quirks..."
"Hey, nothing wrong with that." Rage shrugs as they reach the Plaza and they turn to look at each other.
"Well, I guess this is where we part ways for a while huh?" the cat implied.
"Yeah, you should probably head back and find Lauren, I am sure she's already heard an earful from Dex..." he sighs.
"Be careful." Victoria warns him. "I am worried that things aren't going to stay calm for very long..."
"I'd rather not hear that." Rage sighs. "Twilight and them just took care of some crazy minotaur...last thing we need right now is another problem to deal with."
"Hey, don't act like you didn't help." Blade says, giving him another glare.
"What by being his punching bag for a bit?" Rage scoffs.
"You and I both know what I meant." Blade sighs. "You could have fought back a bit more...or taken things seriously..."
"If I did that I could have put Twilight in more danger." Rage says "It's not like I didn't want to beat him senseless...I did."
"Whatever you say." The dragon shrugs as they turn to the large stone portal as it powered up. Rage rolled his eyes as he turned and waves to Victoria and Riviera.
"See you soon!" Victoria cheers.
"Keep your eye on him!" Riviera says to Blade. "Can't have him worrying everyone again!"
Rage and Blade both wave before they jump through the portal back to Equestria.
