AN: I guess I have to put this in, but this isn't purely 616, I'm only using events I know, Peter didn't have his company, there was no Superior Spider-Man or stuff like that because some people keep asking. If it's referenced, it happened if not then it's because it will have nothing to do with, he story. I can't spend a full chapter going through every single event that's canon and what's not.

Peter and Karen

Chapter 4: Square One

Kara put on the new costume, well new in material, it still looked exactly like her original one which was now cleaned and put in the closet with the other spares. She twisted and experimented with a few movements in the large full-length mirror.

"Huh, feels pretty good." She said to herself as the unstable molecules did make it slightly more comfortable than her old one. Today was the day Spider-Man was going to let her meet the Avengers as they helped to set her up with some government IDs so she could live here. She got a small bag to put on civilian clothing since she needed an actual civilian IDs to be made in case, she ever wanted things like say an apartment of her own. She hoped she wasn't stuck here for that long, but she knew he couldn't just leech off the Fantastic Four forever either.

She had also been doing a lot of research on a small laptop that Sue gave her when Karen asked to start researching this world. After their shopping trip and learning about that newspaper that trashed Spider-Man well, she felt she needed to do a lot more research.

She remembered a bit from her time in the public library but back then she had been searching for any links of her own life here. Now she had focused on the actual events of this world. It was strange how there were so many differences but still as she read many of the events were similar or at least familiar to her.

Apparently both universes had magic, which was not good for her. She doubted kryptonite from her own universe was here but magic was the only major weakness she had. Thankfully it seemed only a few people had it like in her own universe. Mutants were another matter, it seemed they didn't use the term 'Metahuman' here, in fact mutants had this special 'x-gene' instead. It was interesting and she marked a bunch of papers and articles written by a Professor Xavier years ago she could dive into later.

She did learn that New York was apparently a hot bed for heroes and criminals. Which was a change from her Earth it was more spread out to places like Metropolis, Gotham, West Coast City but maybe with those cities no existing all that trouble migrated to here? At any rate she had set up in New York back home because she wanted to branch out on her own, so she wasn't going to change cities or anything because she was in a new Earth.

Checking the time, she noticed she was going to be running late if she didn't get going. Picking up the small backpack she opened a window and flew out. She was glad at least this city was mostly like her New York, it took getting used to some of the different landmark buildings, but at least she couldn't get lost. She was to meet up with Spider-Man near Times Square, easy enough to find.

Power Girl took a moment to float and take in the city, with her enhanced senses she could see down to the crowd of people easily enough, pick out piece of conversation over the noise of the entire city. She held off on smelling anything, while she loved this city, there were limits to how much of it you wanted to experience.

For just a moment it felt like she was back home, back in her Earth in her New York. She frowned knowing it wasn't, but she was starting to get home sick. She just hoped Atlee was feeding her cat.

That's when the huge crash caught her attention. It sounded like something very large hit a building as she should hear horns going off and the feint sound of an alarm. Tossing the backpack onto a roof next to a water tower she quickly flew to the sound. When she got to the scene, she saw a bunch of masked men with rifles. From the looks of things, they had smashed what looked like a garbage truck into a store and were attaching cables to the back of the truck to something inside.

"Hurry up, we got two minutes before first response shows up," One of them yelled.

"Got it, give it the gas!" someone inside said as the original slapped the trunk as it pulled forward as the sound of something large and metallic was heard breaking and falling.

Power Girl saw enough as she flew down and looked at the building, her x-ray eyes could see a few thugs going into what looked like a vault. Thankfully all steel and not lead lined, as she could make them out. There were a few people on the ground most likely customers and employees. They would have to take priority. With super speed she flew into the large hole the dump truck had made and quickly grabbed the weapons of the two covering the civilians. She easily crushed them in her hands before they realized what had happened.

"The hell!?"

"Where did she come from!?"

She grabbed the two men by the front of their shirts. "I'm the new girl in town." She tossed them into a wall as they grunted and fell. She knew enough how to throw humans around without breaking them. They should be a bit stunned for a bit long enough for her to get to the others.

That's when she heard the sound of automatic fire and felt the bullets impact.

"Eat this you stupid Cape!" A gunman in the vault had been coming out just in time to see his two accomplices get taken out. So, he dropped the bag with the loot and quickly switched to his weapon and fired.

Power Girl felt the bullets, but she knew they couldn't hurt her, she was more worried about them bouncing off and hitting someone. With super speed she was suddenly in front of the guy and easily tore the weapon from him.

"Oh Shi-" he didn't get to finish as with a flick of her hand he was sent into one of the metal wall safes. She saw the other one in the vault pouring what looked like diamonds into a bag. Taking a moment to look she saw it was a diamond shop.

Looking back at him with a stern look she spoke up. "Are you going to play nice, or do I need to do to you what I did to your friend?"

Getting the hint, he dropped the bag and diamonds and got onto his hands and knees throwing his weapon aside. "I got it, I got it. Not my first rodeo with a Super."

Karen blinked but shrugged, it was rare but sometimes you did catch someone smart enough to know when they were beat. That's when the scream was heard as she mentally cursed, there were still at least two outside. She turned to see the one next to the truck had come in to see what was going on.

The moment he saw someone in a costume and red cape he knew that the cops were the least of their worries. While he didn't recognize the hero, the fact that one was here was bad enough. It was the problem with crime in this city, there were just too many heroes. Then again, it's not like he had the funds to move and try his luck in a new city, that's the point of this robbery anyway.

The man he had grabbed from the hostages kept going on and on about 'please don't kill me' or 'I have a family', seriously if they were going to kill them, they would have done it by now. Although the woman now turned around, so he had the hostage in a choke hold with a pistol pointed at his temple.

"Alright just relax, we're taking the diamonds and we're leaving, try to stop us and this guy gets it. Nice and simple arrangement, no one gets killed and they get the insurance for the robbery."

Power Girl was thinking of trying for heat vision on the weapon but the problem was sometimes it made the powder go off and if the weapon was ready to fire that would be bad. Maybe she could get there before he had time to react, put her hand up in front of the barrel to stop the bullet and use her own hand to take him out? Before she could enact her plan a familiar voice came out from somewhere out of view.

"Almost sounds reasonable, almost."

Suddenly the man fount his hand and gun encased in webbing.

"Oh you got to be-aaahhh!" He had another web line attached to him and haul him off his feet out of sight. He was then quickly thrown into the side of the truck followed by a blast of webbing pinning him to the vehicle.

Spider-Man landed now within her sight as he looked around. "See I was on the way to meet up with you when I heard the garbage men seemed to be robbing a diamond store? These guys know they're supposed to only take trash not valuable diamonds, right?"

Power Girl smirked as she crossed her chest, "Thanks but I did have it covered."

Spider-Man shrugged. "Eh, figured I might as well help a friend out. Speaking of friends looks like they're waking up." Pointing to the two men she had throw around earlier. Just then the truck's tires squealed as it quickly pulled away smashing several cars along the way.

"Didn't know there was a driver…wait he does know his buddy is stuck to the side?" He shook his head looking around as he quickly asked her. "Truck or thugs?"

"Truck," she said flying out quickly.

"Wow, didn't know she could move that fast," Peter had seen her fly but not as super speed. He was wondering what else she could do? Well time for that later, as looked at the two and the third coming out of the vault. "Okay so…which one wants to go first?"

Karen easily caught up with the truck as it tried to make its way past the traffic. It's size and mass slamming aside cars. She knew she would have to stop it quickly before whatever reckless idiot driving got someone killed. Including the man stuck to the side who she could hear cursing up a storm and yelling at the driver.

Kara flew past it as she fired heat beams at the tires making them pop. The truck started to skid but wasn't stopping. So, she got in front and planted her feet as she caught the vehicle, it was still pushing against her, the remaining tires were burning from the effort as sparks came from the naked wheels. Kara picked up the truck easily enough making the driver fall forward into the driving wheel looking down at her through the windshield.

"Now are you going to come along quietly? Because I could easily throw you into the Hudson from here." Granted she wouldn't actually do that, even though she could. She just wanted to give him an idea that maybe trying to escape and run her over was a bad move.

He held his hands up.

"Good choice."

It wasn't long until she flew back with the truck and found that Spider-Man had already webbed up the rest of the gang and helping out with the civilians. The cops were already there too which was a bonus as they handed them over to them. Well most of them, a few of them were still stuck.

"Yo Spider," One of the cops by the truck called out to him. "While we appreciate the help do you know how big of a pain in the ass it is to wait around for this stuff to degrade without sticking to it?"

"My bad, but honestly it can sometimes take awhile for the boys in blue to get there," Spider-Man told him with a shrug. He pulled up his shirt to show a belt that Kara recognized as a utility pouch. She hadn't even realized he had one on himself.

He pulled a very miniature spray can and toss it to the cop. "Try that, it will dissolve it faster but there isn't much inside so just a reminder a little goes a long way."

The cop nodded as he started to spray the webbing.

"Well one hell of a way to make an impact," he told her.

"I don't know, I have been part of world saving events," She told him since this was next to nothing to some of the things she had done in her life.

"Yeah, in your universe, got to start over from scratch here."

Power Girl sighed. "I suppose you're right about that, I just hope they don't give me some kind of stupid name in the press. Those things have a tendency to stick sometimes."

Spider-Man could see where she was coming from, he then noticed some of the press had started showing up as the cops and emergency crews were working. He had an idea as he started speaking loudly. "Thanks for the help Power Girl, you did a great job at stopping this."

Karen raised an eyebrow before she picked up a few people making notes and hearing some of them shouting out questions for her. Things like 'Power Girl, are you new to New York?' to 'Is that Power Girl as one word or two?'

She looked back to Spider-Man with a small smile. "Thanks."

"No problem," he said normally. "Now let's get going."

"I got to pick up my bag," She flew up as he went after her, both of them soon landing on the rooftop together.

"So where did you leave it?"

"By a water tower," She looked around trying to remember which one.

"I see like…five in that direction alone."

"Well then it's only five I have to check." She told him flying off in a blur. She was back within a couple of seconds. "Found it, it was the second one I checked."

"Just how fast are you?"

"Faster than a speeding bullet." She grinned as he didn't really get the in-joke but figured she wasn't far off.

The two heroes made it to the Avengers Tower as Power Girl looked at the place while landing. "Damn…back home the Justice Society only has a regular looking building in Battery Park."

"Well, I guess this is impressive compared to that but there's also the mansion which was the original headquarters. We got on Avengers team here and another there." He accessed the door to let them in.

Power Girl nodded her head, "You got one that's a space station? Because the Justice League have one of those."

"If we do they didn't tell me, although I think that's more S.W.O.R.D.'s thing." She gave him a questioning look. "I forget what it breaks out to but they're a part of SHIELD and they deal with all the alien stuff."

"Oh okay…wait does that mean I have to register with them?" Power Girl asked.

"Yes, you do," A woman with green hair, matching outfit and shades said as she was walking towards them along with Captain America, Spider-Woman, Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, and Thor. "I also have paperwork here from A.R.M.O.R. since you double as both alien and extra dimensional. You really have no idea how much of a headache you are for paperwork and which one of us got jurisdiction."

"So, you won?" Spider-Man asked her.

"No, I lost. As I said she's a walking administrative nightmare being both alien and extra dimensional," she turned to Power Girl. "Agent Abigail Brand, I lead the Sentient World Observation and Response Department."

Peter snapped his fingers. "That's what it was called, I can never remember all that."

"Power Girl," She said shaking the woman's hand. "But I guess you can just call me Karen since that's my Earth name and what I'll be using while I'm here."

"Fair enough," Abagail stated. "Most aliens tend to pick out Earth names anyway, but the form does have name of origin on it."

"I doubt my home even exists in this reality."

"You never know, what's it called?"

Karen paused as she felt like someone gripped her heart. Could her home world exist in this reality? What if it did? Her people were isolationists so it could be possible. Sure, it wouldn't be her Krypton but if it did maybe then it would be nice to at least see what became of her world if it wasn't destroyed. It could also be a pile of rubble floating in space a part of her told herself.

"Krypton."

Abagail thought about it and shook her head. "Doesn't ring any bells."

"We were isolationists in my dimension if they exist here, they might be the same," she explained.

Abagail nodded her head, she knew of a few races like that still maybe it wouldn't hurt to put some feelers out. She had contacts with a few alien races that might or might not find anything. It was her job to monitor aliens on Earth and given how human Kryptonians were looking at the woman in front of her she wanted to make sure her people in this universe weren't infiltrating or already where here.

The whole Skrull thing left everyone in SWORD paranoid that something like that could happen again. It was also a huge embarrassment that her organization dropped the ball on that one.

"Well I'm Steve Rogers," Captain America stepped forward and shook her hand. "Also Captain America and leader of the Avengers. Spider-Man told us a little about you, I hope you can get home soon but trust me, Reed is one of the smartest people on the planet. If anyone can help you, he can."

"Thanks, Spider-Man said about the same to me," Karen shook the man's hand she had to admit he had this aura about him. She had seen him and researched him and she had to admit, seeing him in person was so much different. There was just this way he carried himself, it reminded her of how Superman carried himself. Like they were both symbols of something greater.

"Captain Marvel, but you can call me Carol," a woman about her size with short blonde hair stepped up. She looked Power Girl over and then looked at the woman in red. "Okay so you were right Jess, we are kind of similar."

Power Girl smirked as she took a look at well, the woman was roughly her size with a different but still short blonde hair, blue eyes. Although there were certain attributes that were different.

The woman Jess shrugged. "That's how it was explained to me, seeing her in person I can't help but think you two are related."

"As long as people don't call me Captain Marvel Girl I think I can handle it," Karen joked.

"I'm Spider-Woman and no we're not related in any way," Spider-Woman said pointing to herself and Spider-Man as she knew that question would come up, it always came up eventually with people that didn't know them.

"Really?" Karen was surprised by that looking at Spider-Man.

He shrugged, "Yeah I mean there are kind of a lot of spider themed heroes these days. There's been like what…three Spider-Women?" He looked to Jess to confirm.

"Four if you count that one villain."

"Oh right I forgot about her," Peter nodded his head. "Then there's Spider-Girl who used to go by Arana but that's a whole story there, and one I don't know the full details of. If you ever meet her, you can ask her about it. Then there's at least two different Scarlet Spiders, there's the kid in Brooklyn that is also going by Spider-Man then Silk, one of the previous Spider-Women is now the new Madam Web, Black Widow…I feel like I'm forgetting something."

Jessica sighed, "Most likely it's getting hard to keep track of it all to be honest, I remember when it was just you and me."

Power Girl blinked, and she thought that the Bat-Family was large and complicated.

"Well, I might as well go first if we let Spider-Man talk we'll never get through this," Clint stepped up. "Clint Barton but you can also call me Hawkeye."

Power Girl noticed the quiver and arrows on his back. "Archer?"

"Yeah, kind of obvious, isn't it?" He grinned pointing to the arrows. "It's not exactly typical I know."

"Unless you're Robin Hood," Peter shrugged.

"We actually have someone like you in my universe named Green Arrow." She said to Clint.

That got his attention, "He use trick arrows or regular ones?"

"Both, why?"

"Huh," He thought about something for a moment. "If Reed can make a stable portal, you think you can set up a match? I'm curious how another archer hero stacks up to me. I need to see if I have to step up my game or not."

"From what I remember he's one hell of a shot so he might give you a run for your money if

"Now that's something people would pay to see," Jennifer Walters smiled. "Hey there, I'm Jen also known as She-Hulk."

Power Girl wasn't normally intimated by people, but it was unusual to have to look up all 6'7" of the tall green amazon. And she used the term correctly as she knew amazons that weren't as big as this woman. Granted Power Girl wasn't short at 5'11" but even Diana wasn't this tall. She even looked like she had bigger muscles than Diana.

For a moment she wondered how the two would stack up against each other.

"Nice to meet you Jen," Power Girl shook her hand, and she could feel the strength in it. Now she was wondering how she could stack up against her, this woman's hand felt like steel made from flesh.

"And last but not least," Peter gestured.

"Verily, I am Thor Odinson, Protector of Midgard," Thor stepped up in all his Viking god glory.

'Good god this man has muscles on muscles,' Power Girl shook his hand and it was like coming in touch with a storm. Large, hansom and strong, okay for the first time she wasn't totally against visiting this Earth.

"So, when you say Thor?" She had to ask given sometimes you did run into gods in her line of work, at least on her Earth you did.

"Aye, I am the thunder god of legend." He replied.

"Oh wow," She blinked. She was used to dealing with demi-gods, space aliens, she heard of magic and demons from people like Zatanna but it was rare to fine actual gods among them. Well unless you count the New Gods of New Gensis or those from Apokolips, but again it was rare for them to interact with mortals on a consistent basis.

Even Wonder Woman said that most of her Patheon only ever showed up when they needed something from her and usually didn't stick around to help. Unless they were someone like Ares or that witch Circe, who while not a god was pretty close to one, those types only caused trouble.

"So now that's out of the way," She-Hulk threw an arm around the Kryptonian. "Let's deal with the paperwork. Thankfully I can notarize some of the needed paperwork and then we can get to the fun stuff."

"Fun stuff?" Karen asked.

"Oh yeah I got an official welcome to our Earth activities planned." She-Hulk grinned.

"Well I'm out," Clint said turning to leave. "I know how those can go."

"Jen just be careful," Steve said to her almost like a parent would their teenaged kid. "Remember what got you kicked off the team before."

Jen sobered up, "I know, and you should know that I have changed. I still like to have a good time, but I know now when to put on the breaks. I was just talking drinks with the girls, she's going to need some friends so why not get everyone together for a good time?"

Jen had gotten a huge wake up call about her behavior awhile back being kicked off the team because of it. All the wild partying, bringing strange men back to the mansion for one-night stands, and other things that got all her team members annoyed with her to the point they didn't want to deal with it. She had done some soul searching after that and felt she had grown, she still liked to have a good time but that didn't mean to excess anymore.

"Party later Walters," Abagail pulled open a document satchel she had been carrying. "We got a ton of paperwork to get through."

"Ah yes, paperwork, never enough of that as a lawyer," Jen sighed. While she loved being a lawyer all the paperwork got tiresome but needed. You could make a break a case with improper paperwork after all.

"Well, I'll catch up with you later," Peter told Power Girl. "I'm going on a few patrols just in case anyone else it trying to rob a place with a garbage truck."

"A garbage truck?" Jen asked.

"It was on the way here," Power Girl told her. "I'll tell you while we're working."
