Spider-Man and Power Girl

Chapter 17: Girl's Night

Karen Starr AKA Kara Zor-El AKA Power Girl was in the middle of decorating her new place. Well, that is to say she got herself a house plant, a poster and a small painting of a nice sunset view that she found relaxing. While she was making decent money, after bills it didn't leave much. New York was still an expensive place to live but at least she didn't have to worry about cars or parking, not even public transport since she could just fly fast enough for people to only see a blur.

Still, it was nice to make the place seem a bit more lived in. She had a small bookshelf she was slowly filling with a few books and DVDs/Blue Rays to at least catch up on some films and TV that were different than her old universe. It had been a month since the Negative Zone affair and so far, things were a bit quiet.

She fought a few villains, saved people from a couple of fires and people started to know her name at least. She was still working out ideas for a new costume, what she had still worked and honestly, she was too busy to sit down and go over possible designs. Her friends at work were nice and it was good to have friends that she could relax around and have normal conversations with.

Her sessions with Sampson were going well and she was definitely starting to feel less depressed most of the time.

All in all, things were going well, sure she kept expecting the other shoe to fall, something horrible to happen, Sampson said it was normal for people to feel guarded after a traumatic event. She just felt slightly paranoid the universe was going to mess with her again. It was a bit late when she felt she had found just the right spot for her plant when someone knocked on her door.

She wasn't expecting anyone, a quick look with her x-ray vision showed a brunette woman of average height waiting at the door in a nicely tailored suit and skirt.

"Well, that's odd." Karen wasn't sure what was going on.

She opened the door as the brunette smiled up at her. "Can I help you?"

"Hey Karen, it's me Jen, mind if I come in?" She asked.

Karen blinked. "Jen who?"

'Jen' rolled her eyes. "Jenniffer Walters? I didn't think showing up all tall and green would be a good idea."

"Oh!" Power Girl had heard that Hulks could take on a more human form, but she had never seen her outside of her She-Hulk form before now, her voice was mostly the same if only the pitch was slightly off. She let the other woman in as Jen couldn't help but look around.

"Homey."

"It's a work in progress," Karen admitted.

"No worries, these things take time," She turned around to face her. "So, the reason I'm here is that me and the girls are going out tonight and figured we should invite you."

"Really?"

"Yep, after that little team up the Avengers have been thinking about offering you a membership eventually," Jen stated. After the mission Cap and Iron Man had been wondering about it as they talked it out with the current members. So far no one really had many objections other than maybe to give her some time to settle in and also to see how she does as a hero.

They knew she had experience in another universe, but they had no access to any of that information, so they were going to see how she handled herself in this universe. She-Hulk got the idea to at least invite her out with the girls so that they can get to know her on a more personal level. Also, so that they could have some fun after all they lived highly stressed lives and could use a way to have fun and destress.

"They want me to join?" Karen wasn't sure how to feel about it. Sure, it would be nice to be part of a team again, but she was still feeling like a duck out of water.

"Not at the moment," Jen assured her. "Just know that people are talking, you impressed us with how you handled yourself in the Negative Zone, besides nothing is set in stone or anything so don't worry about it. We were just going out for some drinks, and we wanted you to join us."

"Going out as Karen or Power Girl?" She asked.

Jen smirked as she turned into her six-foot seven green form. "What do you think?"

Karen noticed that her clothing grew with her. "Unstable molecule suit?"

"Oh yeah," She nodded. "I got this and a spare, you don't want to know how many outfits I've ruined over the years transforming. Not to mention all the underwear that just snaps and then I have to deal with feeling it all lose under what's left of my clothing the entire time, it gets distracting."

She-Hulk sighed thinking back to her earlier days. "I used to shred so many outfits every time I had to change do you know how expensive that gets? Not to mention when I get regular clothing, I have to buy in two completely different sizes."

"And do you know how hard it is to find clothing that fits this?" she gestured to her body. "I mean god I love being She-Hulk but they don't exactly make clothing in my size, I have to get custom clothing made or buy the XL seizes so they fit."

"Oh, trust me I have some idea," Karen smirked given her own proportions were not exactly normal. While not as tall as She-Hulk she had a figure that with her leg length and waist size took her time to find pants that fit just right. Not to mention all the bras she had to get had to be in sizes larger than most women get. She's also snapped a lot of them because they weren't made with super strength in mind, and she remembered one time she flexed, and her muscles had snapped one of the straps.

Jen smirked at her. "The price for being powerful and hot. So, you in?"

Karen thought about it, it was a Friday night, she had no work tomorrow and it's not like she had anything else to do tonight. She had thought of going out on patrol but a quick scan with her hearing she didn't notice much going on. Besides New York was filled with heroes, she could take a night for herself unless something major happened.

"Let me get changed," Karen told her.

-Later-

Karen ended up with a pair of jeans and a white blouse she liked as Jen led her to a bar called The Gardens. It had that older school wood tables and bar with the intricate inlays and soft music playing in the background. The place was kind of filled so it looked to do business. Of course, the two of them turned heads as soon as they walked in, she was sure that some people were trying to place who she was while She-Hulk was quickly noticeable.

It was a good thing that as Karen Starr she did her best to downplay her looks but as Kara Zor-El she didn't have to worry about that.

"Jen, over here!" a familiar voice called out to a wave.

Karen saw a woman with long raven hair that she figured was Spider-Woman AKA Jessica Drew from the voice, she was in civilian attire as were the rest. Karen got up to the table as She-Hulk started with introductions in case she wasn't sure about some people and anyone she might not had met before just to be polite.

So far there was Black Widow AKA Natasha, Wasp or Jan as she was going by, Captain Marvel (Carol) she had met before. There was another dark-haired woman who introduced herself as Jessica Jones who Kara wasn't sure who she was.

"So, it's nice to met you," Wasp stated extending a hand which Power Girl took.

"Thanks for the invite," Power Girl took a seat at the large table they were using.

"I'm going to get a drink," Jen stated before sitting down. "Anyone want anything from the bar?"

After getting some orders and relaxing a bit they all started catching up with each other. What was going on with their lives, how things were going.

"I swear Danielle is getting into everything these days," Jessica stated taking a drink.

"Danielle?" Karen asked.

"Oh, that's right you don't know about me," Jessica while a former hero was still part of the hero community now and then. Mostly she preferred her life as a stay-at-home mom to her daughter. She didn't miss the hero life, not after what the Purple Man put her through. She pulled out her phone and started showing family pictures of her, Luke and their daughter.

"I didn't know you were a mother," Karen looked at the happy family pictures. A pang of envy hit her as she didn't have any pictures of those that were close to her before coming to this world. Any pictures she did have were wiped out with her timeline.

"Yep, Jess got out of the game, but she comes back now and then when she's needed," Carol nodded.

"I guess you don't ever completely leave," Jessica had to admit. "But I'm there for my daughter first and foremost."

"Well tonight you are partying with the rest of us," Jen stated as the drinks arrived. She took a pitcher of beer for herself given her body's natural way of fighting alcohol it was the only way to get a buzz. "We work hard, and we should at least party hard."

"I thought I heard that's what got you kicked off the Avengers once?" Jessica Drew asked the green woman.

"Hey that was a long time ago and I learned my lesson," She-Hulk had to admit there was a time she had partied too hard. Kept bringing strange men back to the mansion late at night for a one-night stand among other things. The Avengers eventually got sick of it. Kicking her out was a wake-up call and while she did enjoy a good night out, she was a lot more moderate about it from now on.

"Well then, I say we start things off," Janet raised her drink as did the others.

Things started off well enough, they would talk, drink, the place had a dart board and pool table. It turns out that Natasha had killer aim with the darts and wasn't too bad with the pool table. Carol was the only other one giving her any kind of challenge since she had plenty of practice with her old Air Force days with hanging out with other pilots playing pool.

"So, what's the most insane thing you've ever done?" Janet asked.

"I think being on the Avengers makes most of us have the same thing," Natasha stated. "It would be like asking how many times you've died."

"Once," Jan and Power Girl stated.

"Twice," Jennifer added in.

"I was thought dead, does that count?" Drew asked since she had once been replaced by the Skrull Queen herself.

"I was in a near death coma for a few years," Carol shrugged although that was still a sore spot for her. Granted she didn't want to kill Rogue over it anymore, but that woman was still one of her least favorite people in the world. Being the adopted daughter of Mystique and the whole ordeal also stripped her of any emotional connections to her memories before the coma left Carol dealing with a lot of issues. It was no wonder she had fell back into drinking at one point.

She was just thankful she had it under control now to be able to drink in outings like this, granted she always was careful with how much and never got drunk. She got to a buzz and then stopped, not wanting to take the chance of going too deep again. She also stuck to just beer, no hard stuff, ever. It had taken her years to control her drinking urges and she would not let herself get dragged down into that dark pit again.

"Same but in high school," Jessica Jones put in, remembering the car accident that killed her parents and left her in a coma for several months. Waking up finding out her parents were dead and suddenly gaining powers from the radioactive material of the military convoy that hit them had been one of the most stressful times of her life. "God, why does all the really messed up stuff happen to heroes?"

"Might be why we are heroes," Natasha stated. "We bare the burden others can't, those that break become villains and those that are forged stronger become heroes."

"Well, that was deep," Janet said. "Why do you only get like this after a few drinks?"

"It's a Russian thing," Nat replied.

"Russian philosophy aside this is getting morbid," Drew put in. "How about some happier topics? Anyone seeing anyone at the moment?"

There was a silent pause. "Really? None of us? Nat, you usually got a fling going don't you?"

Nat paused in her drinking to glare at the women. "Did you just infer that I was a slut?"

"What! No! I mean, you just have, well, a lot of relationships?" Jessica Drew wasn't sure how to dig herself out of this one.

"So does she," Nat jerked her thumb at She-Hulk.

The green giantess shrugged. "Yeah, I don't deny it. Still a bit of a double standard, guys like Tony Stark and go around sleeping and not get shamed for it but if a woman does? Suddenly he's a stud and the women are sluts? That hardly seems fair."

"It's not but woman I guess are seen as the more mature gender," Carol took a drink. "Although I've seen evidence to the contrary about that."

"Man, now I feel depressed," She-Hulk said realizing something. "I've been so busy lately I haven't had time to date. I think the last time I was, was shortly after my divorce."

"You were married?" Kara looked at her surprised.

"Eh…kind of?" She-Hulk stated. "Okay long story short there's this guy named Eros also known as Starfox. He's this alien guy but the thing is, he's got this power to psionically stimulate the pleasure centers."

"I'm starting to see where he gets the name." Kara stated.

"Yeah," She-Hulk nodded. "See I had to defend this guy in court because his powers also make people open to suggestion and become infatuated with whatever he feels like. He slept with a married woman, and she brought sexual assault charges saying he controlled her."

Jessica Jones and Carol Danvers both got slightly tense over the conversation. Both having horrible experiences with mind control.

"Anyways it's a long story, it involves him messing with witnesses, me beating his ass, his father teleporting him out of the court room and a trial with the Living Tribunal but during it I found out that the reason I married John Jameson was because he put that in my head that I was 'in love' with him…I wasn't happy and he got another beating out of it. Still, I had to go explain to my husband that our marriage was a lie…what was the worst of it all because he's such a nice guy and he genially did love me on his own. I still feel horrible doing that to him, he didn't deserve any of that crap to be pulled on him."

"That couldn't have been easy," Kara wasn't sure what a 'Living Tribunal' was, but she would look that up later.

"It wasn't," Jen looked glumly down at her drink remembering the heart-breaking expressions on his face as she explained things to him. "I hated breaking his heart like that but in the end we both came to terms about it. He annulled the marriage with me and that's that." She-Hulk took another large drink. "God, never thought I would already have one failed marriage under my belt."

"It happens," Natasha shrugged.

"Well, that's one reason Starfox better stay clear of me," Carol hadn't interacted much with the Eternal, and she didn't want to change that. She had her own horror of being mentally manipulated that took years for her to come to terms with. Janet shifted uncomfortably given she had been on the Avengers team during said event and knew exactly why Carol didn't want anything to do with Starfox.

Jessica Jones made a mental note on this as well, granted Starfox wasn't Purple Man, but it was just not something she wanted to be around again.

"Has anyone had a decent relationship at all?" She-Hulk sighed and then saw Jessica Jones smiling. "Who isn't happily married with a kid?"

Jessica Jones stuck her tongue out at the other woman.

"Well how about at least a date that didn't end badly?" Nat asked around. Her on again off again romance with Daredevil wasn't much to talk about, she hadn't even seen Matt in months and that was in costume.

"Oh god I think the last time I had a date was with Vartox," Kara moaned suddenly remembering that event.

"That sounds interesting," She-Hulk grinned. "Come on girl, out with it, it's not like any of us know who that guy even is."

Kara sighed guessing it was only fair, they knew nothing or her world or her past while she was getting to know them. "You ever seen Zardoz?"

"The film with Sean Connery in that skimpy red outfit?" Jessica Drew asked as everyone gave her a look. "What? It's a cult classic plus that's back in his prime."

"Well imagine an alien that looks like that, talks in the third person, huge ego and tried to impress me by unleashing a world devouring alien on my Earth." Kara told them.

"You're kidding." Jones asked pausing with her drink and then saw the look she was getting in return. "Seriously?"

She-Hulk sighed, "I know the feeling, I remember this two headed alien have the hots for me once, well one of his heads did. It's always the worst ones too, I wouldn't mind an alien romance, but can it be with a decent one for once?"

"I thought I heard you were experimenting with an alien Shi'ar woman back when you were bounty hunting?" Drew asked remembering a rumor.

Jen face palmed, "That was a joke Jazinda made at my expense." She remembered that time she had been in the form of a Shi'ar woman given the whole Skrull invasion hadn't happened yet, but she was still an exile and hiding from her people. She had joked about 'meeting She-Hulk on an intergalactic lesbian dating site' of all things. She was pretty sure that wasn't a thing, at least she guessed it wasn't. Jen had never really went looking for it but apparently that one little joke got around and a whole rumor started because of it.

"Wait," Carol paused at the name being in space for some time she picked up on a few alien customs, names, and things like that, so she knew that wasn't a Shi'ar name. "Isn't that a Skrull name?"

Everyone slowly turned to the giant jade women, "That's…a long story. I'll tell you after she finishes hers as I think we need to catch her up on the whole Skrull thing."

"I do but anyways, where was I?"

"World eating monster," Nataha put in.

"Right well we beat it and the guy wanted to apologize," Kara continued. "So, he offered me dinner for it."

"And you went along with it," Janet asked her not believing she was hearing this.

"Oh, I was ready to punch him in the face as soon as he overstepped," Kara explained. "But honestly, he was actually very sincere about apologizing, I did get this really nice dress out of it. But as I got to know him, I found out he wasn't so bad, the golden wine helped. Turns out he's a widower and was looking for a mate to help repopulate his planet. Apparently, some aliens were at war and used a bioweapon that made the entire planet infertile or something."

Everyone reeled back from that as it was Carol the spoke up. "Seriously? That's so messed up that it's not even funny."

"Yes, but apparently he had way around it," Kara went on explaining. "I thought he meant the old fashioned way but he had this, and try not to laugh because I sure did, a pregoray-"

That's when everyone at the tabled started laughing.

"I'm serious, that's what he called it," Kara laughed herself. "Anyways the…ray, fired from Earth to their home world so all the males and females get pregnant."

"Wait, hold up," She-Hulk paused. "Males?"

"Yep."

"Well at least their society seems to be fairly balanced in one regard," Nat smirked.

"Anyways, all we did was hold hands and that's all he needed," Power Girl finished her drink. "And that's the end of one of the weirdest dates I ever been on."

She didn't want to go into how the next time he met the guy it was because he ran to her for help from an angry husband because the guy had seduced his wife. She didn't care if they killed one another, as long as it wasn't in the middle of her city, endangering everyone.

"Yep, beats me," Jessica Drew drank herself. "I think the weirdest date I had was when a guy kept asking me about my hair care."

"You do have nice hair," Carol admitted, "Although I've been so busy the last decent date I had was back when I was Miss Marvel still and went out to a ballgame with Spider-Man." She paused feeling there might have been something else, but the thought quickly faded away. Before then there had been a few dates, she had a close relationship with James Rhodes before he died that one time.

Kara now paused at that. "Oh? So, you know him well?"

"Kind of," Carol admitted, "Sure he talks a lot, but I realized that's just a way for him to deal with stress and also distract the people he's fighting, have to admit though it was a simple but nice date, no real complications and it was just a good time."

"So, was this in costume?" Janet asked.

"Oh yeah," Carol smirked. "I bet we made quite the sight but in all honesty he's a good guy."

"He's an idiot," Natasha scowled. "He never takes anything seriously; everything is just one big joke." She could never stand his sense of humor about things. She had seen and done too much in her life to make light of anything anymore.

"He's a good man," Kara defended him. "He's the one that found a scare and lost woman and got her the help she needed. If I hadn't met him when I got thrown into this reality, I wouldn't know what I would have done."

Spider-Man was the one person she felt she could count on because of that day and every day after it. While she had no idea who was under that mask, she knew the kind of person that was, and it was a kind and caring man that tried his best to do the right thing. He was smart and she personally liked his jokes, she preferred people who weren't so dead serious about everything someone like Batman was.

"Yeah, Nat you should ease off," Jones told her. "I know the guy isn't your favorite person but give the man credit, he always shows up when needed, and he constantly on the streets helping people. That was the kind of hero she had wanted to be at one point, someone to help people.

"I always thought he had a sexy ass," She-Hulk shrugged ordering another drink and then seeing a few of the looks. "What? Check it out some time, it's a shame he stopped wearing that black and white costume because that really showed it off."

Karen wasn't sure what to think of that statement as she just took a drink to not say anything.

"So what, that's it for everyone?" Drew looked around. "Janet, you're not together with Hank again, are you?"

Janet shook her head. "No, I know we've had a complicated relationship but he's still seeing Tigra and working at Avengers Academy with her."

She didn't blame anyone for that, their relationship was always strained after Ultron with plenty of ups and downs. The problem with Hank was that when he got frustrated with a problem, he didn't handle it well. He was brilliant but he always had this problem of over thinking things or got blinders on and didn't see problems coming before they happened.

At least he was doing better these days, and she had to admit he was doing a stand-up job with Tigra and her son. Technically when Tigra got pregnant it was from a Skrull that had been impersonating him. While that person was long gone now, Hank saw it that since his DNA was used to create that child, he should take some responsibility for it. Janet wished them the best and she hoped that this would help him become a better man.

"You know, I saw a few images of you and Spider-Man together," She-Hulk grinned at Powe Girl. "Anything you want to tell the class?"

Kara rolled her eyes, "seriously? That's still floating around? He's a good friend who has helped me a lot, what I man and a woman can't be friends?"

"I mean sure, but I am curious what's under that mask," Drew commented. "He's one of the few people I can think of that still has a secret identity from every other hero."

"Yeah, it's like…" Carol paused as though something was on the tip of her tongue but vanished. "Almost like I feel like I should know by this point."

Kara suddenly got very nervous, she remembered the spell that Spider-Man said that Doctor Strange had cast, to erase his identity from the world after he exposed it on Tony's suggestion. How he had to do it because his loved ones kept getting put in harms way. She was actually witnessing the spell in action, and she had no idea of what do to here.

She knew why Carol was feeling his way but if Spider-Man wanted people to know he would have to do it himself. She would have to have a talk with him again about this, this was kind of creepy watching the spell in action.

"Doesn't matter," Natasha shrugged. "If he doesn't want to tell us that's his choice."

"It's odd," Spider-Woman thought about it. "I think the two of us have been the longest spider themed heroes and I feel like we should be a bit closer, I know we've been serving on the Avengers, but we've crossed paths for years."

"How many spider themed heroes are there these days?" Janet asked looking at Black Widow and Spider-Woman.

"I'm not really associated with them," Natasha spoke up, granted her name was that of a type of spider but she didn't have any powers and didn't go swinging around the city.

"Oh, trust me there's a lot more than you'd think," Drew sighed. "Especially when you get into all the dimensional variants."

"I know about that," Kara nodded. "Been there a few times, seen an alternate me and a younger me that went by Supergirl. Trust me, it can really mess with your head sometimes."

The night went on with the ladies, some were careful with their drinking while a few others drank a bit more. They talked a lot about the usual things in life, shared stories, Carol got a few games of pool going wanting to show off her skills.

-Elsewhere-

Peter was swinging through the city, it was a bit of a quiet night for once, only a few things he ran into. No major villain activity, nothing strange like a huge sky portal or anything that would require the help of Dr. Strange. All in all, it was a fairly dull night.

"Maybe I should call it early?" Peter said out loud, it's not like anyone would hear him talk to himself anyway. "I could use a bit of a break…and now that I said that out loud, I am now waiting for the universe to punish me."

He landed on a building and waited a few seconds, no spider sense, no sudden screams or explosions. "Huh, screw it, I'll take the win. Normally that's when the universe likes to throw me a curve ball."

He shrugged and started to make his way to his apartment, he had tried to keep it as tidy as when Power Girl left it and for the most part it was. Sure, his little desk where he made or repaired his gear was a bit of mess but that's to be expected. The rest of the place was mostly in a good state.

Pulling off his mask he drawn the curtains and was about to take the rest of it off when he noticed his phone had a message on it. It was from his aunt he called her number back hoping nothing was wrong. She was getting up there in years and honestly, he worried for her health.

"Hey Aunt May, you called me?" He asked when he heard her voice.

"Oh yes, I guess you were out?"

"Yep, was just out," he looked around and saw the fridge. "Grocery shopping."

"At this time of night?"

"There's s 24-hour place not far and I didn't want to wait." Peter did know of a place like that, but it wasn't exactly 'close' but thankfully for the city that never sleeps, there were a lot of late night or 24-hour stores.

"Is something up?" He then asked.

"I was just checking in, seeing if you wanted to come over for dinner tomorrow."

He loved his aunt's cooking plus it was never a bad thing to spend time with her. "Sure thing, you know I can't pass up dinner at your place."

"Should I set up for just us or is there someone you want to bring over?"

Peter winced a little, he knew this was her way of asking 'are you seeing anyone yet' without actually saying it to him. He sat on his couch with the phone, "Not at the moment."

"You really should try and find someone dear," he could hear the slight concern she had in her voice. "I know that things hadn't been working out lately."

That was putting it mildly, first he lost MJ and then Charlie and now here he was a bachelor again. He missed having someone in his life, someone he could relax with, date, do all the little things couples did. Hell, he nearly married Mary Jane, a part of him still hoped but she had left for L.A., apparently a new offer for a role suddenly came in and she was off to try and get into the film industry again.

He started to think about the other women in his life, Charlie had failed because she couldn't stand that Peter and Spider-Man were the same person (also the whole being turned into a monster temporarily made her leave the city). Then there was Black Cat and boy was that a can of worms, maybe if she had tried to take their relationship more seriously things could have worked out. A few other faces flew into his mind, and he was starting to wonder if he had a complex forming about relationships.

"Well with the new job and all, I don't get out much," he knew it was a lame excuse but honestly, he was never great at meeting people, he just kind of randomly ran into people on accident.

"Well, is there anyone at that work that caught your eye?" She prodded.

The only two women he knew at Horizon was Aribella in eco-technology, but he really didn't know her well, he'd seen her now and then and maybe they said hello a few times but that was really it. Then there was Sajani and well that was a hard no. She really didn't like him, like at all and honestly the woman was just too focused on frame and riches for his liking.

"Not really," he paused thinking of Kara. "I mean, there's this new girl…"

"Oh? Go on."

"No May, she's going through a rough patch in her life, she's trying to get her feet under her and I'm not complicating her life." He shot that idea down for his aunt. Granted he had to admit, the more he got to know Kara the more he started to like her. What was not to like? She was gorgeous that's for sure plus they had a lot in common. They both liked movies and just hanging out, and she was one of the few people he could talk science with that could keep up but actually teach him a few things.

'The advantages of coming from an advanced alien society I guess,' he mentally thought.

"Oh dear, is she alright?"

That was one of the things he loved about his aunt, she was very understanding and had a lot of empathy for people. Always ready to listen and give a warm and comforting shoulder to those in need.

"She's doing better these days I was a little worried about her at the start, but I've seen her slowly getting better. I'm hoping she can start to rebuild her life here or at least feel like she can."

"You sound like you really care what happens to her."

"She…got dealt a rough hand May, I know what that's like. I had you and Uncle Ben to help me out but she…she's got no one left." He couldn't go into details but if anyone had worst luck than him Kara seemed to. At least when life kicked him down it didn't take his entire world and everything in it from him.

"I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope she gets well soon."

"Same here, no one deserves to go through it, but she's stronger than she realizes," He didn't mean just in the physical sense. "

"Well, I believe you, at any rate maybe I can ask one of my friends if they have any single relatives."

"May," Peter groaned.

"Oh, don't be like that, the last time was Mary Jane and you two had a long relationship."

"She's also currently on the other side of the country and we broke up," Peter reminded her.

"Do you regret meeting her?"

Peter paused for only a split second the truth was he wouldn't change a thing with her. He felt like if they could have worked things out, she could have been the one for him. The one he married and started a life with. Maybe in another life it all worked out but, in the end, he wouldn't give up that time together.

"No," he sighed.

"Well, who knows, maybe lightning will strike twice?"

Peter knew she wasn't going to let this go. "I'll think on it, and I mean think, no agreements just yet just…let me think on it?"

"Very well, I'll see you tomorrow, Peter?"

"Sure thing, love you."

"I love you too Peter."

The line went dead as Peter sat on his couch for a moment wondering if he should take his aunt up on the offer? He shrugged it off, first was a shower and then some much needed sleep to think on it.
