Lost Love

Hello everyone. Just a little info before you start reading this. This story begins in the Amazon after the Pit of Doom scene. Raphael, Nico, Pedro, Nigel, and Gabi are not in this. There is no deforestation happening. Hope you enjoy this story.

Blu stood in the middle of the Pit of Doom, ashamed of what had just happened. The Scarlet Macaws were celebrating their win, gaining complete control over the nut grove, while the Spix Macaws booed at Blu and flew away. Jewel and the kids were watching from the stands, not believing what had just transpired. As the stadium began to clear out, Eduardo walked up next to Blu, clearly angered by Blu. "I shouldn't have trusted you. You are nothing but a no good pet. Go back to your master and stay away from my daughter. She never should have met you. If I find you near her again, I will make sure you never see the light of day again." He threatened. Those words sunk deep into Blu's mind. He knew he couldn't impress him now. After all he'd done, he began to believe those words.

Just as Blu was about to respond, Eduardo had flown off, most likely trying to figure out what to do from here. Blu looked down as a tear dripped out of his eye. He wiped it away when he heard someone land behind him. Turning around, he saw Jewel, his mate. "W-Where are the kids?" He asked, shakily. Jewel responded, "I told them to go back to the hollow, so we could talk alone for a little while." Blu looked away from her and sat down on a nearby rock. Jewel followed him and sat next to him. They looked on at the setting sun. Jewel was the first to speak. "So, do you want to talk about what just happened?" Blu looked at her. "What's there to talk about? All I tried to do was be 'The Bird' that your father wanted me to be, but I guess I can't even do that right." He simply said. Jewel frowned. "I haven't done anything right. Coming to the Amazon was a mistake. We should have never come here. I think it's time we leave." He said looking over at her. Jewel slowly shook her head side to side. "No Blu. You haven't done anything wrong. You didn't know that it was the wrong goal. My father didn't tell you." She started, "And coming here wasn't a mistake. The kids are thriving and loving the jungle. It's just… something that you have to get used to." "But how can I get used to this place when all I'm shown is that everything I do is wrong. When I'm always shunned and turned away. What am I supposed to do?" Jewel laid a wing on him, only for him to stand up and walk away. "This isn't home. Not for me anyway." Jewel stood up but remained where she was. "Blu look around you. This is where we were meant to be. This is home for us. We don't need everything outside of here. Just each other." Jewel said softly.

Blu glared back at her. "Then where were you if we are always supposed to be there for each other?" He let slip out. Jewels eyes widened. "Where were you when I needed you? Where were you when I woke up? It's been so long since we've even seen each other that you haven't even noticed me struggling to adapt to this place. I've been there for you when you needed me, but you can't even make time to be with me." Jewel frowned at him as anger began to build up within her. "I have been there for you! I'm sorry if I've been with family and past friends but that didn't stop me from seeing you. You're my mate and I love you, even if you act like an arrogant ass sometimes." She argued back. Blu was angered by this. He felt disrespect and hatred build within him. Disrespect from what he believed Jewel, Eduardo, and the others had done to him. Hatred for those who had made him feel this way, including himself. He couldn't think straight with all this negativity in his head. He said the one thing that he never thought he would say, the one thing he never wanted to say, but he wasn't in his right mind to stop himself. "You don't love me, you never loved me…" Jewel stood there in shock at those words. "Not when you have feelings for Roberto. You never told me anything about him. About how you love him more than me. I was the only choice for you when we met, and now you have him back." Tears dripped down Jewels cheeks as he kept going. Pain radiated in her heart as she struggled to find her words. "I'm tired of being second best. I'm tired of being somewhere I don't belong. I no longer have a home. Not here."

Blu spread his wings preparing to fly away from Jewel, but before he could, Jewel had grabbed his wing. Tears dripped from her eyes as she tried her best to stop them, but with what Blu had just told her, she couldn't stop herself. "B-Blu, that's n-not true. You are the one I l-love. No one else. I'm sorry i -if I made you feel this way. I-I can't lose you… I can't live without you. Please… don't leave me." She sniffled. Blu pulled away from her. "No Jewel. This is what's best for you and the kids. I'm leaving. I don't belong here and you know it. Go back to your family since you found them and forgot about me. That should be easy for you to do. I thought we were a family, but no. I should have known that we were never meant to be." Jewels heart shattered at that. She crumbled onto her wings and cried. "Take care of the children for me. Tell them I love them, even if they don't love me." With that, Blu flew away in anger, not a bit of sadness was with him.

Jewel watched as he flew away. Weakness overtook her. She shakily reached out for Blu as tears poured down her cheeks. "Blu… please come back. 'Sniff' I'm sorry…" she cried as he disappeared from her line of sight. Weakness from her heartbroken sorrow hit her hard as she fell onto the rock surface under her. She cried for what seemed like hours on end.

Eduardo came back to the pit not too long after and saw Jewel lying in the pit alone, crying her eyes out. He immediately flew down to her. "Jewel what happened? Why are you crying?" He said worried. Jewel looked up at her father. She cried as she picked herself up and hugged her father tight. "B-Blu… h-he's gone. H-he left me." Eduardo smiled as Blu had done exactly what he had asked. That was the only thing he had done right thus far. He turned back to his daughter saying, "Well then we have no issue then. That idiot doesn't belong here. You were always destined to be with Roberto. He will take care of you and your family from now on." Jewel's eyes widened in shock. She pushed her father back, still crying. "Y-you! You did this. You did this to him. W-why? What do you not like about him?" She cried angrily. Eduardo was shocked at his daughter's tone towards him. As he was about to speak, Jewel stopped him. "He was everything to me and now he's gone! He rescued me and saved my life. Without him, I wouldn't be here, my children wouldn't be here. He was the one that kept me together and now… now I don't think I can. I-I can't do it. I can't lose him." Once again Jewel crumbled to the ground, heaving. Eduardo watched as his daughter began to cry again. He listened to what she had said, and couldn't figure out why he had been so hard on him. He had saved his daughter's life and given him grandkids. He felt ashamed now to think that his daughter was like this because of him. Blu was her mate, and he had no excuse to try and send her off to another male. Blu was her choice, not his. He looked down at his daughter and got down to her level. "I'm sorry honey. This was my fault. I treated him wrong and didn't listen to him at all. I'm sorry for the pain I caused you, and the pain I caused him. He left you because of me. I told him to stay away from you. I thought he would only drag you down. I should have known better than to treat him like that. I'm sorry I did this." He spoke sadly. Jewel looked up to him and shook her head. "No daddy. This is my fault. I ignored him and didn't listen to him. I should have seen this coming. He treated me so well and I had no right to disrespect him." She spoke softly. She stood up and said, "I-I need to tell the kids. T-they deserve to know." Eduardo watched as his daughter began to take flight, only to see her fall back onto the ground on her back. "Jewel!" He yelled as he flew over to her.

Eduardo examined his daughter. She was heaving still and crying harder. "Jewel does anything hurt?" She shook her head no. "I-I lost my reason to fly. H-he was my… my everything. I-I can't do anything… not without him." She began to sob hard again. Eduardo looked at her worriedly. "I-I'll carry you home. I'll do everything I can to try and find him. I will find him for you my daughter. I promise." Jewel continued to sob as he picked her up and flew her back to her hollow. She didn't know how she was going to tell her kids. They would be devastated to know he had left.

A few minutes later, Eduardo and Jewel were right outside of the hollow. Jewel was the first to walk inside, followed by her father. The kids saw their mother and came down to her. The first thing they noticed was the tear stains down her cheeks, giving them enough evidence to know she had been crying hard. "M-mom are you okay?" Tiago asked. The kids were slightly afraid something had happened. Their mother was always a tough bird, and only saw her cry once or twice before, but not to this extent. Jewel looked over to her dad for comfort. He placed a wing around her back and nodded to her. "K-kids. I need to talk to you. Can you take a seat? This may be hard for you." They sat down where they were looking up to their mother. Bia was the first to ask, "What's going on mom? Why are you so upset?" She looked at all three of them. "Kids, your father… left us." They gasped. "He told me that I was never there for him and that I never loved him. That he felt like he was second best. I-I treated him poorly and he left us because of it." Jewel began to sob. The kids felt tears well up in their eyes as they tried to comprehend what was just told to them. "I know that this is hard. But he told me to tell you, that he loves you three, so much." The kids sobbed as they gathered around their mother. She hugged the three of them as they cried.

They all hugged closely for a while, sobbing and crying out their pain. Carla looked up at Jewel. "C-can we go after dad with you?" We w-want to 'sniff' see him again." Jewel shook her head no, crying softly. "No. B-but why?" Jewel looked at her kids again. The three of them standing there sad brought more pain to her heart. "I-I have no strength or reason to fly anymore. When… when your father left, I lost everything. I can't function without him." The kids hugged their mother again tighter. "It's okay mom. We will look for him." Bia said. "That's nice of you to do Bia, but you all need to stay here. I don't want to be here alone. I need you here with me. I need to know that you three are safe. Your grandpa is gonna try and find him." The kids looked over to their grandpa, who nodded to them. "Okay mom. We will stay here. You took care of us for so long, now we are gonna take care of you. You need your rest." With that, all three of them began to do what they can to tend to their mother. Jewel looked to her father and said, "Find my Blu. Tell him I'm sorry and I still can't live without him." She said weakly. He nodded to her before flying off to find him.

Once he left, Jewel looked towards the moon that was shining brightly in the sky. She sighed and said, "Blu. I still love you. Even if you don't love me anymore, I-I would do anything just to see you here with me again. You are my reason, and without you, I'm nothing." She sobbed as she slowly began to nod off. Her heart throbbed with pain, and her dreams were filled with nightmares. She could only hope that he would come back soon.

After Blu left Jewel, he began to fly back towards where they had entered the Amazon. "It was the right thing to do. She never loved me. Now she can be happy with Roberto." He told himself. Although he felt anger with her, he had managed to calm himself down enough to think about what had just happened. His anger turned to sadness as he thought about his life without Jewel in it. He held back a sob as his vision began to blur. Tears began to fall as he was flying. Unable to see, he attempted to dodge branches and other obstacles in his way. Unfortunately, he struck a branch and collapsed onto a tree limb on his back.

Blu was in a daze from the hit. His head was spinning and his chest hurt. He laid there for a second trying to catch his bearings. After his world stopped spinning, he brought his head up to assess the damage. A large gash was across his chest. The pain wasn't that bad and the bleeding would stop eventually, but the pain building in his heart wouldn't. Tears weld up in his eyes once more as he began to think of how he ended up here. He had broken his mates heart, crushed her spirit, all because her father told him that he wasn't worthy of her. "I-I did the right thing, d-didn't I?" He questioned himself. He curled up into a ball and began crying harder. He remained there, letting his sorrows out to the world. He laid there unable to do anything but release his sorrows, hoping that in some way, this will help him. He passed out a few minutes later.

'There's chapter one for you. What do you think?'
