Brand New World.

Sorry for not posting sooner, I just really didn't feel like writing a couple days ago and finishing the chapter because I got my third covid shot and I was feeling terrible for a couple days. With that said please enjoy the chapter. I do not own Bloodborne or RWBY and they belong to their respective studios.

Alaine for the first time in what felt like a very long time was scared, the reason being that after following Ozpin and Miss. Goodwitch through the woods she had felt that strange wind and heard that weird whirring noise again. Then something most unexpected happened. A marvel of engineering, what looked like a boat with wings of iron floated under semi transparent disks. It took its time, blowing the air and trees around the area as it lowered to the earth.

Due to the wind Alaine had to hold onto her top hat with her right arm to keep it from falling or blowing away. She was holding the Boom hammer in her right hand and the cannon in her left to much of Miss. Goodwitch's surprise. As they both made for the strange machine where Alaine stayed put. She just stared at the thing and her eyes widened as she saw it open and they walked onto the even platform inside.

Seeing her hesitance he simply beckoned subtly as to reassure her that it was safe. Although he mistook the reason for the 'safety' he assured. He thought it was about where he was taking her, she just found out a new fear she had of plummeting from the sky in an iron coffin.

She shook head as if to shake off her fears and followed them into the strange flying machine. Just from stepping on it she could tell that it wasn't iron, from the way it sounded as she stepped on it to the way it gleamed on the unpainted hinges. It was steel!? She could imagine being plentiful in iron but the making of quality steel just for weapons required much in the terms of funding. To make this was not only odd but terribly impractical unless there was plenty of resources and knowledge to repair and maintain such a thing. Then again, so was her canon.

She felt her stomach drop as the door ramp closed and she gasped out of shock when she saw that they were lifted from the air. Ozpin and Miss. Goodwitch were sitting in chairs that lined the walls next to the ramp while Alaine took a moment to set her hammer down on the floor and wrap her arm around a handle bar that was on the side of the machine for the exact purpose she was using it now she guessed.

It wasn't a long trip but it was unforgettable. When she presumed they had landed Alaine let out a sigh of relief. As fascinating as this machine was, she had fallen to her own death once or twice and it had never been a pleasant landing. Being speared on spiked fences or landing on solid cobblestone was a terrible experience. She could only imagine what it would be like dying by being crushed by such a machine, as beautifully elegant as it was.

She shivered at the thought and then moved off of the machine first while Ozpin and Miss. Goodwitch followed. Ozpin stopped after stepping onto the pad and saw that Alaine was staring at Beacon. To Alaine it was as tall and grand as Castle Cainhurst, albeit more structured and not in disrepair.

She looked back at Ozpin who guessed what she was about to ask and answered first. "This is Beacon Academy where huntsmen and huntresses are trained in order to fight grimm. For the room you requested, that will take a day to sort out so Glynda will take you to a spare room for the night. Use tomorrow to rest and I'll come by to introduce you to how we formally do jobs as the protectors of humanity."

Alaine nodded and then turned to Miss. Goodwitch and tilted her hammer forward, gesturing to her to lead. Miss. Goodwitch shook her head at Alaine and then began speed walking to get it over with. Alaine just calmly followed her, taking in the scenery as she was led to a building lined with windows.

Once Alaine and Gynda were out of sight he began walking to the school, it was about time he attempted to sleep as well. "I wonder if she'll be an aid… either way she is someone I'll have to watch closely."

Alaine walked to a door that Miss. Goodwitch was standing next to. Goodwitch put the key into the lock and left it in the door as Alaine caught up to her. She began to leave and then stopped and looked back at Alaine. "Don't lose it. I'll need it in the morning."

To that Alaine nodded. "Thank you Miss. Goodwitch, sleep well." Alaine turned back to the door and unlocked it before walking into the room. When she did she was surprised to see that it looked like it was made for multiple people, she could tell by how there were four beds. It was a single room, had many beds but it was too well furnished to be a barracks. "What an odd place" Alaine thought while she set her things down. She leaned the cannon against the base of the bed that she chose and then laid the boom hammer against a desk.

She stood in the middle of the room and thought she was missing something. She stood there trying to remember exactly what she had forgotten. Suddenly it dawned on her, she hadn't worn anything other than what she had worn right now since the night she had met Gehrman and the doll on that night. She took the chance to modernize her gear at the time.

Yet the idea of taking off her clothes felt so alien, like it wasn't natural. She turned to the door, trying to remember if she locked it. After checking the door if it was locked and confirming so she tried to strip down only to find out that the most she could do was her jacket and boots. Any more felt wrong to her but she also didn't want to dirty the bed, she sat in a chair, sitting cross legged as she took her top hat off and slipped her neck gaiter down to her collar.

Alaine then remembered exactly what a washroom looked like. Instead of going to bed she had a fascination that must be answered. She saw a washroom through an open door. She walked in and was Astonished at what she had seen. Odd knobs and odd shaped pipes hung over a large tub that could fit a person and a smaller tub that had something called hand soap in. She turned one of the knobs and she marveled over clear, clean water running into a small tub and then flowed down the drain.

Just how well funded was her new boss? To put her into such a luxurious room with their own wells inside they're rooms. She fiddled with the rest of the knobs, finding out that the bath had two different ways it filled. She also found out why the curtains were inside and just outside the tub when she found that the splayed pipe sprayed water, getting some on her. "So strange, what purpose did it serve?"

She yearned to literally and metaphorically wash the filth away. She called upon the little ones, seeing them as nothing to be afraid of. She took her clothes off and handed her clothing to them to clean before shooing them away.

She turned the cold water on… she didn't know to put the thing down and water sprayed onto the floor of the tub. If someone saw, they could see the mental gears turning in her head as she studied the water flow from the pipe, onto the tub and then down the drain. She stepped in and closed the curtains behind her, one she noted was for keeping the water in. She basked in the shower of water, turning around and around until she spotted something up and on a ledge in the wall.

She got close to it, and studied its language. It was very formal in its lettering, like the letters had been stamped by a typewriter that she had seen her father using for the paperwork side of hunters work. She understood it oddly enough, it was english. The bottle said body wash, and the one behind it said shampoo and conditioner. She had no idea what shampoo and conditioner was but upon further reading she understood that it was for the hair. "So many different soaps, was there really a difference in hand soap from body soap and now this hair soap?"

In Yharnam, bathing was uncommon except for right before procedures. Even toilets were usually shared by a small community. Seeing all these specialized things made her excited in spite of her want for some rest. She washed herself up, using the new soaps and when she got out she felt exceptionally clean and refreshed. As if she hadn't been sweating and spilling some of her own blood fighting those strange beasts.

She noticed a towel draped over a handle on the wall and she used it to dry herself off. Her platinum hair looked odd but it felt smooth to the touch. She kept doing her best to dry her hair before putting it up into a ponytail. She looked to the counter and found her garments folded up neatly, she gave them a sniff, smelling that they indeed had been washed clean of her sweat and blood as well as repaired where she had been struck and tore.

She managed to only put on the black pants, white shirt, socks, and black leather gloves, leaving the coat, vest, boots, brass gauntlets, and leather protection for her legs off. She laid the clothes on the bed and went back to the chair after grabbing one of the bed's blankets. She sat down once more and leaned her head back into the soft furniture. She felt so clean and her body warmed up nicely under this blanket.

She smiled, using this time to unwind, rest, and enjoy the peace of mind she had achieved. She slipped into sleep and again, no dream.. but she could feel it out there. The dream waited for her and she knew just how to get there. For now however she will continue to just enjoy her peace.

She only slept for say five hours but those five hours felt blissful. She woke up and cracked her spine and yawned out. First thing she did was put the rest of her garments on and the next was set her beloved canon in front of her. She gave it a quick inspection, maybe she should make a lamp. She could use the dolls company as well as some minor repairs to her weapons.

She decided lugging the canon around would look strange so she had the messengers take it for now. Leaving the pistol in her coat, she opted just to one hand her boom hammer and rested the head of it against her shoulder. She should be presentable now.

She walked to the door and then realized something, she had no idea where she was. Did she simply have to wait for that Miss. Goodwitch? Probably. Well she could just wait here for her at least. At the moment she was craving something to eat but she didn't know where she could get some.

So she waited patiently for the person who wanted their key back to stroll by. She saw a small number of people walk by her and give her a side eye or strange looks but other than that it was relatively quiet save for the occasional laugh she hears through the walls.

She wasn't used to hearing such pure laughs, usually they were from madmen and lunatics. while she was distracted reminiscing about the unending hunt when she was seen by Miss. Goodwitch who was down the hall and approaching. Alaine picked up on her and then pulled her neck gaiter down to greet Goodwitch. "Why hello."

Goodwitch looked good considering the amount of sleep she had, partially to make up and the other part coffee. She still felt tired however. The woman in front of her greeted her neither formally or informally, it was surprising at how indifferent that greeting was. "I've come to collect that key, as well as have you meet briefly with Ozpin to discuss your new job and who you will be working with"

Alaine just nodded and took the key out of her pocket, handing it out for her to grab which Miss. Goodwitch did so before turning around to lead the way. "However I am quite famished. Do you think you could take me to a place to eat please?"

Miss. Goodwitch had a face that said disapproved of taking an extra stop but understood that their new guest didn't exactly have a floor plan yet. "Ok but we grab something and go, you can eat along the way."

Alaine didn't argue but as they left the housing building her eyes were assaulted. She winced and had to look down at the ground and grass. It was vibrant and a lush green. She put her hand just above her eyes and saw the beautiful landscape. She thought it was good looking at night, right now Beacon and the landscape below, to the distant towns she saw. It was all simply astonishing. She got distracted and Miss. Goodwitch stopped to see what she was looking at. "The sunrise is nice today, but you don't have to gawk like it's the first time you've seen it"

Alaine had to keep herself from giggling, she managed just to smile at Goodwitch and then continue to follow her while she side eyed the scenery until they entered Beacon. They passed a number of buildings and even the center which looked like a park. It was so well designed compared to Yharnam where it was cramped and the only way to make more room was to build out into more and more complex structures till it made your head spin.

Then they came across a building and instantly the smell hit her, not like a blood cocktail but the pure force behind the fresh smell nearly put her on her backside. It smelled wonderful. She guessed where they were but she could hardly believe it as she went inside behind Miss. Goodwitch to find a feast fit for the king and queen of Cainhurst.

A whole feast of food just laying out for people to take, and they were. Both older and younger alike were taking from it and filling their plates. She started to realize the amount of young people really outnumbered the old. Just what is this place? It seems more like a benevolent kings palace than anything else she's seen this far, was it really an academy? Did she really have to just grab something quick? She didn't even know what half these foods were but she knew they smelled delectable.

She grabbed a fruit that she did know, an apple and put it in her pocket for a little later while she got busy grabbing more fruit that she had yet to experience, like this strange slightly red heart shaped berry that she immediately took a bite of and loved, so sweet she could feel her own cheeks sour a bit. She settled on some mashed potatoes and some white gravy that smelled good.

With plate and spoon in hand she began to eat her second meal in this world albeit much tastier and varied than her first. They made their way to the tower once more to see Ozpin. While Alaine enjoyed her meal, they walked and she finished her small plate while walking awkwardly with her boom hammer between her arm and her head.

When they reached Ozpin's office, her food was gone and now she held a plate in one hand and the other on her hammer that was now resting more comfortably against her shoulder.

The elevator door opened and she saw Ozpin sitting at his desk. He looked just as he did last night, still sipping his coffee with that deadpan expression of his. Although there was someone new, looking her up and down in a way she didn't understand at first. At first she thought he was gawking at her but maybe that's how it was supposed to look but his eyes were analyzing, much more than Miss. Goodwitch or even Ozpin.

It was eyes that she had never encountered before, maybe she would have seen them on the Hunter of Hunters, the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst but he wore a helmet, Eileen wore her mask and a few others might of had them but she would never know for sure like she did with the man in front of her, dressed semi formally yet also looked sloppy like he put the thought in but couldn't be bothered to go all the way.

"Hello Ozpin. You have some wonderful food here… and the place where you housed me was lovely as well. I must thank you." Alaine smiled gently, and tilted her head forward in a bow like manner.

"Yes, well those things aren't for free. You will have to work like our agreement. Speaking of, this is Qrow, he will be your partner for the time being. I take it you have no problems with that?" She could tell that this man spoke in white lies, he was too intelligent to just let an opportunity like this slip by.

She looked over at Qrow, who had that same look as he did before. She was being tested. She knew that much. She had no choice but to play along and pass this test. "No. There are no problems as long as he is capable."

The man now known as Qrow snorted and then chuckled to himself before taking a flask out and taking a drink of its contents. He sighed before putting it back into his pocket before speaking in a sly tone. "I'm wondering if you're gonna be able to keep up."

Alaine raised an eyebrow and smirked at her new partner and competition. "Hm, then I guess we'll see. So what kind of jobs will we be doing?"

Thank you for reading, don't be afraid to post a review, I read all of them and try to take them into account when i'm writing. I hope to get the next chapter out sooner than later but i'll continue to take my time with it. I have a deadline for two weeks that I give myself but I couldn't think much less write when I got my shot done. I'll see you in the next chapter.
