Gunvolt and Lumen had the same look on their faces that nervous anime characters did.
"And as of now, we have a new problem. It turns out that Kirin has more positions than we thought. She has thirty nine of them as of right now," Asimov informed as he called Moniqa and put the phone on speaker. "Moniqa, how many positions does Kirin have and what are they?"
"The most recent three and the one with conditions is confusing. She's the peacekeeper between divisions, defense unit chief and leader, an Adept hunter unit worker, security unit, combat unit, deployment unit, Adept unit, Sumeragi seven member, test subject, third and eighth divisions member of S-FIT, Cyber Diva, second in command, fifth delegate, department of message propagation, sole foreign dignitaries division worker,
Stratacombs executive, top assasin, Sumeragi's ambassador, Project Muse leader, Nova's personal escort slash bodyguard, Subaquatic Base executive, UTU Media Tower executive, Firmament executive, Building One executive, Headquarters executive, Datastore executive, Viper's superior, Carrera's superior, Jota's superior, Merak's superior, Nova's superior, Elise's superior, Biochem Plant executive, Dr. Kamizono's superior, but only at Building One and Firmament, S-FIT researcher, S-FIT executive and S-FIT's lead researcher." Moniqa explained.
Everyone's shock was indescribable. Except for Moebius. He already knew what happened.
'D-did you know about this already?' Kira pondered.
Moebius nodded. Kira couldn't form any words.
"And we have another problem. After Kirin and Elise's failed murder attempt on Nova, he got them in trouble. They'll be in a meeting to plead their innocence." Moniqa added.
"Of which Kirin has none." Zeno retorted.
"And you have no patience!" Kira fussed.
"You are one!" Zeno mocked.
"I can send you back to the hospital and then we'll see who's saying that!" Kira threatened.
"Zeno, calm down, ther's no reason for you to be acting like this!" Moniqa cautioned.
Zeno grumbled on the other end.
"Say something else about me being a wimp andyou'll be meeting the same fate!" Kira dared.
"What? Being a coward that's completely unable to fight? You couldn't even kill Nova last night even with help." Zeno ridiculed.
Nobody could tell but Moniqa started to sweat.
"You seriously think I can't fight you? I've taken down worse." Kira giggled.
"Don't let that win against Apollo get to your head. Just because you won twice doesn't mean you'll win again." Asimov advised.
"Did I get in another fight with him last night?" Kira asked.
Moebius nodded.
"Luxcalliballista." Moebius confirmed.
"You all act like I can't handle myself." Kira cackled.
"It's not you we're worried about, it's them." Asimov elaborated.
"Actually I'm worried about her." Gunvolt sated.
"What we really need to be worried about is something else. You two need to get off the phone and back to work." Asimov added before ending the call.
"We need to worry about some way to control the Astral Order Octima. That's what you were going to say, right?" Kira interrogated.
Asimov merely nodded, not fully able to show his concern. If he did, Kira would be very disappointed. Suddenly, Kira got another memory revealed to her. She was at the hospital with a patient bracelet on her left wrist.
She was panicking, knowing what it meant. It was basically a show of ownership for the person who had her custody. Somehow, she got ahold of a scalpel. Kira attempted to cut the bracelet. Only for the slippery plastic to move. She silently cursed both the bracelet and the surgical supplies.
"You shouldn't be doing that." a male voice warned.
Kira didn't have to turn around to figure out who's voice that was. She still turned around, seeing Dr. Kamizono staring at her. Kira froze up and passed out.
"That was way too real." Kira muttered.
"Promotion, you, Apollo, demotion, want, kill." Moebius elucidated.
"How can he want to shoot me even more!? That shouldn't even be possible!" Kira yelled.
"What's wrong?" Gunvolt queried.
"Apparently me dying multiple times isn't enough for Apollo. After I got those promotions, he had only murder on his mind." Kira notified.
Asimov said something about writing a report before leaving. Kira assumed he was going to write a report on how Kira's mind worked for later use. Particularly so Zeno wouldn't get hurt from her later on. At the moment however, Kira's panic was taking over.
This particular flashback became very aggrivating very quick. Kira was back to being strapped down. Only this time, her torture came in the form of a discussion. At the middle of the left wall, Dr. Kamizono and Mr. Yamato were talking.
Kira couldn't make out much other than a comment stating that she'd been spreading the idea of humans an Adepts living together like a bad infection. Sheer anger was flowing through Kira's veins. She walked to the living room and noticed a little candle burning on the living room table. With a huff, she seated herself.
Soon after sitting, Kira quickly became captivated by the flickering flame. Soon enough, she began using her Angered Explosion to manipulate it. Sadly, it wasn't enough. She felt she was inadequate.
Nothing she did would be worth anything. No matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't be enough. And that's when the reality of her situation began to sink in. Kira had been trying to avoid being agressive.
Yet she kept having outbursts of rage. She didn't want to be judgy, biased or prejudice. Now she despided humans for being liars "by nature". She became fearful of them, hated their deceptions.
Kira wanted to analyze them and make them predictable. This may have stemmed from a lack of stability in her life. She only learned the necessary lifeskills from the humans she lived with before they vanished. After asking, it was confirmed that Kira was purely a Primal Dragon.
She ate a quick breakfast of grits and eggs with lemonade. She changed into a dark blue undershirt, dark blue see through full sleeve shirt with a left breast pocket, blue skinny jeans and navy blue knee high boots. Kira began to research ways to learn about humans. The list included habits, topics to avoid, even a few ways to read people.
She sat next to Gunvolt and asked him about some of the topics.
"I don't know if Copen was a good liar. But I do know what I'll be doing. Studying all of the dialogue from both IX games plus the first and second ASG games. I can avoid the last one since his lines there are from the first and second games." Kira supposed.
Kira turned on her console and decided to ask Moebius. First Kira asked if he was awake and Sistina's picture was loaded. She questioned if he'd be okay with her asking so many questions. Sistina's image came onscreen again.
"Did you just want me to listen to a song?" Kira wondered.
Cayman's photo was generated.
"Do you really agree with me doing this?" Kira wondered.
Gunvolt's image appeared.
"Are you absolutely certain you can trust me?" Kira inqueried.
Sistina's picture showed for the final time before Kira shut down the console.
"It would be best to play the games to analyze him first hand. No way I'm doing it out of order either. It could even help me write about him a little better. As long as I don't have to get up close for the analysis." Kira mumbled as she grabbed her 3PS and the Striker Pack to begin.
Moebius sat on Kira's legs and laid back as she started new save file on the first ASG game. When she got to the cutscene with Nova at Firmament, Kira couldn't take it anymore. She curled in on herself after grabbing Moebius and began to cry. Even though the DNA seemed artificial from how twisted it was, the true source still made itself known.
Both trying to confront and rum from the problem gave unsatisfactory results. This made her feel incredibly frustrated. Her newest flashback was certain to make Kira even more despondent. She was near another anti-ballistic barrier when a white rag was suddenly forced over her nose and mouth.
Kira then felt her right ankle stuck in a tight grip. She was soon sliding across the floor on her stomach. All she could do at this point was watch as the barrier separating her from the exit got smaller and further away.
'I was so close to freedom. It just seems like I can't do anything right. I can't, lose, this, chance.' Kira thought before succumbing to the anesthetic.
Once the flashback was over, she was about to reach her boiling point.
"I'm not that bad am I?" Kira sniffled as she began crying.
Moebius shook his head.
"What am I supposed to do about this? other than practice good behavior. I know just the place to start! Apologizing to Zeno and getting on good terms with him. What do you think Moebius?' Kira cheered.
Moebius nodded. Kira ran into the ktichen and looked at the phone. Followed by her brother, Kira was ready to make the attempt. She inhaled for five seconds before speaking.
"GV, GV, GV, GV, GV, GV, GV, GV, GV." Kira spoke as she poked her coworker each time she called his name.
Lumen took one look at Gunvolt and was greeted with a surprising sight. He became very anoyed at first and had an expression similar to Copen's dialogue portrait during his fight against Gunvolt. Lumen was worried a fight was about to go off and was ready to grab Kira.
"What Kirin, what Kirin, what Kirin? You know what, you owe me an answer. Why are you coming in here trying to terrorize me? You have other people you can torture." Gunvolt interrogated.
He grabbed Kira and began dragging her by the ankles. She tried to keep her mouth shut from both regular and panic laughing. Gunvolt began laughing as Lumen giggled slightly at the sight. She snapped a picture and recorded a short video.
"I..." But that was all Kira could say before another unfortunate recollection ocurred.
Kira stabbed Dr. Kamizono in the heart with a kunai. Since it was from the Rebirth Septima, Kira hoped he would die on the spot. All of a sudden, Kira was grabbed from behind and lifted into the air by her Sumeragi uniform collar. She was still keeping her sights set on the target. When she looked again, Dr. Kamizono had his right hand covering his stab wound. He was glaring at Kira as her flashback ended. Kira returned to reality to find Gunvolt and Lumen whispering to each other.
"I wanted to call Zeno and apologize for the way I've been treating him lately. No, not because someone forced me to. I just realized I've been treating him based on his opinions about video games, nothing else. And definitely his laid back attitude. I didn't even take the time to truly learn about him. So, I want to say I'm sorry." Kira explained.
Gunvolt was even more shocked than Lumen. He knew that Kira and Zeno were workplce rivals from the beginning. For her to try and make amends like this, surely something had to be wrong.
"I know what you're thinking. It's not a good idea to let your mind wander like that." Lumen commented.
Gunvolt looked confusedly between Kir and Lumen.
"I want your honest opinion, from both of you. Do my glasses make me look like, him?" Kira whimpered whilst on the verge of tears.
Her pupils were still purple, which gave Gunvolt and Lumen an excuse to lie.
'Not at all, you look like Apollo from the ame." Gunvolt assured.
Kira began sobbing uncontrollably.
"Dr. Kamizono looks exactly like that outside of work! The only difference is the characters eyes are purple and he has red eyes!" Lumen shouted.
"So, he exists to some extent?" Gunvolt queried.
"Which one are you talking about?" Lumen wondered.
"Apollo." Gunvolt answered.
"Does he really forget that quick?" Kira pondered.
Luckily, Gunvolt didn't hear her sarcasm. The situation at least fixed Kira's downcast mood. Though the mention of her opressor's name did bring about another flashback. Kira was running down a hall.
All of a sudden she saw a stain on the right wall. It looked like blood so she stopped to inspect it. While viewing the splatter on the wall, Kira remembered she had to continue running. But when she turned around to run, it was too late.
She already heard the shot fired. It became lodged in Kira's chest by the time she looked. Passing out in the flashback allowed Kira to return to reality.
"Was that my blood?" Kira questioned.
Moebius nodded.
"I wonder what happened for all that blood to get there. Can you show me?" Kira hoped.
Moebius shook his head. Kira touched the corner of her right eye. Today was the second day in a row it had been twitching.
"I hope Elise and Sistina are doing okay. I don't like the idea of them being there without me." Kira muttered.
'This future altering stuff is kinda freaky.' Kira thought.
Having little to no control over it was concering enough. But not knowing when something would happen was easy. As was knowing what would happen. It was not knowing at all what would happen or when it would happen that scared her.
Kira was used to having a schedule. But now she didn't truly have one to go by. Now, everything was complete chaos and disarray. All of what she'd known was a lie. The only thing she could take comfort in now was solitude.
"I want people to see me as a force to be reckoned with!" Kira fussed.
"With that face, you won't be accomplishing that goal anytime soon." Gunvolt remarked.
"Are you saying I look like Lumen right now?" Kira seethed.
"A little, not that much." Gunvolt assured.
"Nobody takes me seriously. Not here, not there, not anywhere." Kira whined as she slumped down on the couch.
"Is having genetics a disorder?" Kira asked jokingly.
She began to wonder if nobody truly took her seriously because of that. Her teachers in school, classmates, well, some teachers took her seriously. None of her classmates, friends, and now coworkers. Even though she never actually had any friends.
Only people she thought she could forge an alliance with. What caused this however, she didn't know. It did cause her to cry though. Even Elise and Sistina may not be taking her seriously.
Perhaps Moebius was guilty of the same thing. Well, he wasn't guilty of anything. Regardless, Kira became concerned that the idea may be a possibility. While worrying about it, a flashback confirmed it.
Kira was strapped down again, no surprise there. There was an IV in her left elbow crease and a hospital bracelet on the same arm. She had a gas mask that went unnoticed for the time being.
"Those fools, they don't even have proper restraints. They don't understand how powerful she is. If left unchecked, she could kill all of the facility members here. It's strange though, how she..." Dr. Kamizono rambled.
Kira passed back out before she could hear more. The new information caused Kira to smirk. Well, it was less of a smirk and more of a mischevious grin. Kira went into the liviing room to tell Gunvolt and Lumen the good news.
"Apollo's scared of me." Kira smirked.
Lumen laughed as Gunvolt looked confused.
"There's no way that could ever happen. He has more knowledge of you than even you do. Which is probably why it's so easy for him to defeat and restrain you." Lumen corrected.
Kira huffed, letting the reality sink in.
"So, that's how it is then, huh?' Kira noticed.
"It's not that we don't take you seriously. It's just that..." Gunvolt droned.
Kira gave him a 'you can't take me seriously, I know it.' look.
"Is it because I don't know who I'm supposed to be anymore?" Kira theorized.
"Wht are you talking about?" Gunvolt wondered.
"I have Zed's personality while I'm working for Sumeragi, Mytyl's attitude, Blade's behavior, and to top it all off, the ethnicity and highly modified gentics of a madman! All the while, all these people are expecting different things from me. I don't have the time to be myself." Kira confessed.
Nobody else had thought of that.
"Maybe I should call Asimov." Gunvolt supposed.
"Or a genealogist who isn't out of their mind." Kira advised.
"That explaisn why you're so crazy." Lumen teased.
"Oh yeah, well you've got some nerve saying that! Miss I dress like a butterfly!" Kira retorted.
"I do not! Those wings were holographic and made by the machine!" Lumen ranted.
Kira rolled her eyes, trying not to laugh or smile.
"I'll tell her, thanks." Gunvolt answered as he ended the call.
"You talked to him even though I requested you don't? It's like working with Nova." Kira commented.
"Apparently you have a stronger bond with Elise than I thought. Did you know she set up a pole on the right side of a hall in S-FIT so she could attack Apollo and save you?" Gunvolt informed.
Kira shook her head.
"She won't be doing it anymore though. I got her a restraining order against him. It was devastating to realize that's where I got my copy of the Rebirth Septima from." Kira added.
